Different church, basing the celebration on different criteria. It's actually an interesting read if you take the time to see how they decide the day to celebrate.

I do believe that some years, maybe more often than not, the dates coincide.

I’ve been toying with the idea of trying my hand again at running a pbp game here on the boards. I’m thinking of running the Jade Regent Adventure Path, or possibly a shorter, low level campaign based around some of the published Darkmoon Vale adventures. I probably wouldn’t be in a position to kick things off until towards the end of May, but figured it might be worth seeing if there was some interest, and get the ball rolling if there was.

I prefer to run games for people I play with, so would any of you guys be interested in playing? No worries if not.

Grand Lodge

For curiosity sake this is the thing that is killing me right now.

Tsoureki is a Greek sweet bread with cardamom, orange zest, and a couple of spices I've never seen outside of Greece (a gum from an island tree and the ground kernel of a type of cherry pit. People make it all year, but it is specifically an Easter bread. They are typically plain and topped with almond slivers. You can find versions of it all over the Balkans. Here they have gone crazy and want filled ones where each part of the braid has been wrapped around a wet filling, then sealed, then braided and baked. I think this style you might only find in Greece and not a lot of places make it. So the one with nuts is one braid of chestnut puree and the other something like nutella. The white striped one is one braid of vanilla cream and the other of raspberry jam. The chocolate one has chocolate on both sides. They take an enormous amount of time to make and cost €8.90 for about a half kilo. Since they started them it has been all 13+ hour days. 4 more days before they start to drop off...

Undone by a filled pastry. They can put it on your tombstone.

M Humanborn

I'd undo myself eating them. They sound delicious.

Liberty's Edge

Male Mothman Expert 5

Yeah, they do sound good ... and difficult (or time consuming) to make; is this Easter the first time you've made them, or has it been a yearly thing for you for a while?

Although I seemed to pour a bit of cold water on the other thread, I would be very interested in a Mothy-run PbP, by the way. Just not a big Jade Regent fan.

Thanks Aubrey. Having given it some more thought I am tending more towards a low level Darkmoon Vale campaign, up to about level 7 or so, though I am open to other suggestions and preferences. It might be good to start with something like that and then consider running an AP down the track.

Unfamiliar with the setting / region, or with the published adventures set there (or both)?

M Humanborn

i guess all of the above. i never really followed the PF adventure paths, barring a few i joined that ended up dying. and definitely unfamiliar with the region, though since the word "vale" is involved, i imagine there are a lot of elves, and "darkmoon" might suggest drow.

Liberty's Edge

Male Mothman Expert 5

It's a region in northern Andoran in Golarion. One of its major features is a forest with lots of darkwood trees, so you have human loggers coming into conflict with the animals and fey that live in the forest. Names are misleading in this case, as elves and drow are not heavily featured in the area.

Some of the very early Paizo standalone adventures (modules) after they finished with Dungeon and Dragon magazine were set there. If I decide to set a game in that region I'll be stringing some of those adventures together into a sort of low level 'adventure path'.

You'd be welcome to join the game if I run it - I have four interested or semi-interested players at the moment.

M Humanborn

while it sounds interesting, the number of campaigns i can support is nearing its max. i'd join certainly if you needed another player to get things going, but if you had enough i would likely abstain.

Grand Lodge

I..... think I'll lurk. I've heard good things about the adventure setting, but I just don't have the time or energy.

Liberty's Edge

Male Mothman Expert 5

It's cool. 4 players is ok, though I prefer to run 5 or 6 – it helps maintain continuity if someone needs to drop out, or life interferes and someone can’t post for a while. I won’t be starting the game for about a month, so there’s time to recruit more players if we want to.

I'll stop hijacking Aubrey's thread soon and set up a thread where we can discuss this game - I'll probably do so over the weekend or next week.

Hey guys, discussion thread for the Darkmoon Vale campaign is up here. (Adventures in Darkmoon Vale Discussion).

Post there to dot the thread and confirm your interest.

Grand Lodge

Ok, back. Read up and brief posts in each game just to make rolls, take position and establish that I'm around. From tomorrow I can resume normal posting.

Ah, then you obviously don't live in Australia ...

Ok, you're right, it is a weird one.

Guys, I've had a player drop out of my OTHER Eberron campaign at very short notice and was wondering if anyone was interested in stepping in. The intention with this one is to go mythic, using the mythic rules but in the context of Eberron. Currently the PCs are about to go attack the enemy's secret base in a volcano, so there might be a little delay bring in a new character. Also, there might be limited options as to what will work in the context of where the game is now, but I'm interested to hear any ideas should anyone be interested.

Liberty's Edge

Male Mothman Expert 5

Tempting, but I've got a bit on my plate right now - I'll give others a shot first.

M Humanborn

I'd join, but i'm already in that one.

Guys, I will be out of action for a week to a week or a half from tomorrow. Please NPC my character as necessary in my absence.

Rod will likely channel energy to try to get Haladon back on his feet – also try to catch Janosz and any other wounded in the burst, excluding the oni as necessary. If someone else has healed Haladon in the meantime, and it makes more sense to do so, Rod may cast protection from energy (cold) on a nearby ally, cast flame strike if he can catch two oni in it, or fire his bow at a wounded ogre mage if it looks like he might be able to take it down.

Just a quick note, but I will be away from Saturday for a week on holiday and will not have any internet access.

Where are you off to this time Aubrey?

North Wales - a place called Criccieth. Don't know much about the place, this is really a blast from the past for my wife, as her family used to go to that vicinity when she was a kid. Anyway, it's railway heaven, so my little boy will be happy.

Sounds nice - is the weather good at the moment?

Off and on. Wales is to the west and cops a lot of the weather coming off the Atlantic, so it can't be guaranteed.

Au revoir! Have fun!

I will be traveling next week, too, but expect to have access to post in the evenings. A little jaunt to try new cycling trails that have been built on retired railbeds. Primary concern right now is the storms that seem to be a nightly occurrence in that part of the country.

What country is that PR?

The US. We will be in the area where Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa come together. Eventually the trail is planned to extend north to Lincoln and Omaha and south to connect with another trail in Kansas, but apparently a fair bit has yet to be developed.bsince they rely on volunteer labor and donated funds, it can take a while and tends to work in leaps and bounds between times of inactivity.

Western Nebraska and Kansas had a lot of tornados and severe thunderstorms two days ago. Last night, the crosshairs were farther east, closer to our destination. The weatherman says the threat for severe weather extends basically through our trip. Would not be the first time we have traveled to a normally dry area and watched it rain until they had flooding, but I'm hoping to avoid it this time. It really does no one any good to have that much rain at once.

M Humanborn

Ah, i used to live in the Kansas City area and nearby rural areas. The weather was probably my least favorite part.

Grand Lodge

I grew up in tornado alley too. Just talking about this made me realize I have seen any real storms in 11 years.

We've watched the storms go past on radar more often than not for several years. This is the first time in quite a while that the majority of Kansas is not considered to be in some level of severe drought. Rough on a state heavily reliant on agriculture for its economy.

I laugh - earlier this year, we had newsworthy weather all over - a wildfire torched much of south central, a blizzard had closed the major highways west, and a duststorm in the north east because it was so dry. On the same day.

If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes. That's us.

And for the record, I don't like KC weather, either. Too humid and not enough wind for me. I'm used to low to moderate humidity and moderate to high winds. Like a hair dryer. ;-) If I go for a run and there's not at least one gust that knocks me off-balance, I'm doing it wrong. (Perhaps I exaggerate. A little.)

M Humanborn

If you get far south enough to be near KC, you should try Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. It is great.

We need to make a BBQ pilgrimage to KCMO some day. We have discussed riding the Katy one of these days - that would take us right by the city.

M Humanborn

ah, i had to google the Katy, i wasn't an avid biker in KC. actually the only time i was, was in Monterey, CA. They had a really nice coastal trail from south of Asilomar and Pebble Beach, and i heard it went all the way to San Fran.

I'm AFK this weekend - headed to the mountains for Memorial Day. See you on Monday!

Grand Lodge

Damn. Memory is not my strong suit in pbp despite it all being readily searchable. For some reason I had misremembered leaving Kadesh on watch in Tavick's Landing and have been waiting more than three years to meet back up in the city. Wrong. I just looked it up to see exactly where I left him on guard. He was with us as Gaia Sotharr's which meant I should have kept him with us throughout. Feeling pretty dumb about that now.

So I'll call him as we leave the tower and just assume he waited out the Necromancer's tomb in safety and has been trailing us at a distance since.

Grand Lodge

We are leaving for vacation today (Mississippi to see my folks, New Orleans because it is nearby, New York for fun and friends, and Pittsburgh for friends and to look into a job opportunity. Other than travel days I don't imagine I'll be all that absent, but if you find yourselves waiting for me go ahead and npc my guy.

M Humanborn

for those of you across the pond, how is the Brexit/EU referendum working out? I'd be interested to hear actual accounts rather than just what the news tells me here in the circus we call America.

There's a Brexit thread with plenty of commentary if you have not seen it.

M Humanborn

ah, i hadn't.

I'm back but I've got a few issues, so I may not be updating all of the games immediately. Sorry about that, hopefully back to normal soon. I particularly want to apologise to you guys as I left this game dangling even before I went on holiday. I will prioritise getting this game back on track - once I can.

Aubrey, I am intrigued by your mention of a spreadsheet to create bad guys - how does this work? Is this something you've created yourself, or something that you've purchased or found?
