As I'm already playing in an all Kobold Iron Gods run, I'm gonna pass and let someone else have some fun with it, but... who down votes on Iron Gods?
It's... it's sci-fi... and fantasy... put into a blender and mixed delightfully smooth. And that never lines up. Like... why would you... who even..?
Just... all the no. You play that, and you play the heck out of it.
GM of Liberty |
So for Iron Gods, I opened a discussion thread for it, feel free to hop over there and communicate about your characters.

Ahhhhh!
Got my pdf for the Andoran campaign setting finally :D I am so thrilled!
I've skimmed through it and its so cool @_@; Gazetteers for Almas AND Augustana. And a whole new druid faction! And stuff about a bunch of random places on the map that were just names with no context! A BESTIARY. Some campaign hooks for political intrigue!
I'm soooo happy. They went and messed with the timeline for the third time (there are three campaign books on Andoran now and they all have conflicting timelines haha) but I can forgive that :p
Iron Gods folks are gonna have to wait because digesting this takes priority :P I'm such a geek, I hid in the bathroom for like 45 minutes to skim the pdf on my phone at work today >_>

No worries at all! As jazzed as I am for Iron Gods, its been well established that I need a good chunk of time to pull my characters together 100%.

No idea if your characters will ever meet him, but I couldn't resist putting up the art of Codwin I, the president Supreme Elect of Andoran.

Errr... So is the "chase scene" stuff still subject to initiative order? Or am I just supposed to post that whenever? I was waiting for my turn, but I'm worried I'm slowing things down if I were incorrect?

Sorry for the delay, everyone. I, uh... I got my hands on Borderland 2 recently and, uh... yeah... Borderlands 2.
...kind of amazing.
Anyways, I'll get something up as soon as possible.
GM of Liberty |
GMLibs' I got the Andoran book yesterday but haven't cracked it yet. Any bits you'd prefer me to read and forget?
Cheers
Probably the adventure sites towards the back-end of the text would be the most spoilery. But I don't care that much really haha.
If you've already read the Darkmoon Vale campaign setting you already read all the spoilers that are particularly noteworthy...
There's a lot of detail about political intrigue in there as well, but I'm not sure if this game will ever head in that direction.
Herral Hinn |
I read the Darkmoon Vale stuff about four years ago, when all the setting was new and exciting but I remember very little, except thinking it would be an ideal place to run an adventure (or two).
Political intrigue may suit Herral, but for a pbp its much harder to keep all the details fresh, however Obsidian may help some.
Cheers

Well it's a sandbox so it is entirely up to you guys where you go :)
Taking down the entire Lumber Consortium would require a lot of political maneuvering, in particular. (As opposed to just Kreed.) I've come up with a lot avenues you guys could take to solve that puzzle, but it shouldn't be a spoiler that rushing in guns blazing in this case will end your characters up in prison, or at least as wanted outlaws :P
In any case, some of the stuff in the new book contradicts the Darkmoon Vale stuff..but its old enough that makes sense. For example the new campaign setting lists Willowroot as one of the anti-King Narven druids <_< which is...weird. So I'm going to end up picking and choosing which versions I like and which I don't.
The coolest bit I think is how they handled the Norgotha Necropolis. A completely different direction from where I was originally going, but the official version is so much more... American that I'm happy to scrap what I laid out already ;D

"Tablic has asked you to ask Doctor Krane to help educate the populace on King Narven, to help stop the illegal logging of the Arthfell Forest. (Not completed by the heroes.)" Whoops
Just as a note I'm leaving early tomorrow morning on vacation. I'll be back on Monday. Bot me as necessary!

Aaaaaaaaaand from out of the mists of Insane Work Week Part 3: The Reckoning, I emerge.
Triple-sized shipment this week, plus Marvel's current release schedule could be best described as "button mashing". It's been a looong handful of days. o_o
Anyways! Sort of makes sense that Soroza's been a bit quiet. She wanted to kill that guy, but that doesn't mean she liked killing that guy.

Awww, hope things calm down for you soon :(
I was two months behind my pull-list and picked it up yesterday <_< Like $100~ of comics. Marvel needs to stop double-shipping titles. I'm not following events or anything!!!

Don't. Even. Get. Me. Started.
Like, double-shipping the first two issues of Star Wars because that's a big deal release riding a hype train a mile long? Sure. I get that.
But double-shipping as a regular schedule for multiple ongoing titles across the line? That actually has a net detrimental effect on sales in the long term. I have the numbers.
Unfortunately, "sustainability" is a foreign concept for the Big Two these days. :-/

Yeah, the owner at my local store threw in a 15% discount. I think he was worried I'd get pissed and cancel my titles (between James and I we follow a lot of books, actually)... he didn't have anything to worry about but I didn't complain either :p
Part of the reason I buy comic books (vs digital, or tpbs or piracy) is to support the business so its whatever, haha.

*poke poke* anybody here? :(
Anyways...
My home face to face group is meeting tonight so they'll have my attention. I might be on here and there during breaks but I won't promise anything. Introducing a new player so I'll have to pay more attention to stuff than normal :p
New players are stressful >_<;

I'll have a post up to kick off the encounter in just a few minutes!

And this is what I get for trying not to kill everything I run across! The whole 'elderly wisdom of a retired adventurer' thing gets somewhat undercut when none of it works. XD
Still! Losing to a snake dragon is one heckuva way to bite it! As my parting lesson, kids: if you have to die, make sure it's to something cool! That way, at least when you reach the next world, you can say "Yeah, I died, but it took a freakin' dragon to kill me!"

Well I have two color sprays. But most of you guys have another turn to try to convince it to not squeeze Adrac to death before then.
I'd have to suggest taking advantage of the fact that it's grappled. AKA do the most obvious and normal thing. AKA whack it until it has no choice but to maul you instead.
Also, this thing has pounce? Youch. That's a little more than terrifying at level 1.
GM of Liberty |
When performing a combat maneuver, you must use an action appropriate to the maneuver you are attempting to perform. While many combat maneuvers can be performed as part of an attack action, full-attack action, or attack of opportunity (in place of a melee attack), others require a specific action. Unless otherwise noted, performing a combat maneuver provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of the maneuver. If you are hit by the target, you take the damage normally and apply that amount as a penalty to the attack roll to perform the maneuver. If your target is immobilized, unconscious, or otherwise incapacitated, your maneuver automatically succeeds (treat as if you rolled a natural 20 on the attack roll).

I can't leave for a few days without someone getting eaten by a dragon
Sooo, creative soultion time eh? Davi can run and fling herself on top of the Dragon and try to pin it. It'll either work perfectly or it'll be a pretty epic way to die.
On the other hand I think Anthony hit on something interesting when he mentioned 'convincing' it to let Adrac go. We do have someone in the party who speaks Draconic...
Adrac Rhaddyn |
@GMoL
If Adrac dies, Adrac dies like a badass. No need to worry about it - as fun as he is, I always have another character eager to break out of my head and be played. I will keep struggling, but no worries if he goes out.
If he does bite it (or just gets too weak to go on), I could always pick up someone else who stumbles along, if that's acceptable (not sure your policy on replacement characters). Perhaps a renegade kobold from the nearby forest (I know you mentioned that a while back, don't know if that would still be allowed). I could also temp Dalton himself and have him take his dad's place!
If he doesn't die, then... he keeps on trucking! Gonna take more than a dragon to kill this old man, baby! (...technically it's not a dragon, but it looks like one, close enough!)
Incidentally, can you punch something if you're in a grapple?

It is a dragon, just a....prehistoric one.
I get more attached to pcs than players do sometimes :( (I actually have a lot of character sheets in my folder of pain, though)
Yep you can attack while grappled, or alternativel try to bust free.
GM of Liberty |
A grappled creature is restrained by a creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.
Anthony Read |
Anyway, he can make attacks with light weapons at no penalty. I.e. unarmed strikes. But that would be instead of his attempt to free himself.
Additionally Adrac can attempt to take control of the grapple if he's feeling lucky ;)

Nah, I think it's time to get serious. If this lizard needs convincing, I'll offer a fist full of fire to it's face as an argument to letting me go. I find if my food starts punching me with fire, it doesn't want to be food.
