Yep, Anthony is too. Still haven't sheathed the rapier. I should have worked that into my post, but apparently it's already too late to edit it.
Also I'm taking the family camping from the 12th-16th. There won't be much in the way of gadget time or internet connection, so I don't think I'll be posting at all during that time. Please do bot Anthony while I'm gone.

Question: If Soroza is in the space I positioned her to on the Battle Map, are she and Greypelt in melee? I'm not totally sure, what with the wall corner there. I feel like it might be considered blocked since Jansen is there as well, but I could be thinking of positioning rules from another game.

GMoL: Thanks! I plan to.
Sorry Davi >.<
I've been rereading a web serial called Worm and I think it might have something to do with the aggression. Too many slimy guys like Graypelt that I just want to see the good guys whack. That, and I was getting a little impatient.

Yes, Soroza is in melee with Graypelt, but because you can draw a line from a corner of her square to a corner of Graypelt's squares that passes through a wall, graypelt has cover (+4 AC, +2 Reflex saves) from her. She is in melee with him because you can also draw lines from her corners to his corners that do not pass through a wall.
However, Soroza's whip is calculated as a ranged attack, since it is a reach weapon. This means to calculate cover you can pick any corner from Soroza's square, and draw lines from it to the 4 corners of the enemy square. If any of those lines pass through a wall, or even just another warm body, Graypelt has cover from the ranged attack.
The difference is with ranged attacks you choose one corner, with melee you have to use ALL four corners to calculate cover. But with melee you never have to worry about other people forming soft cover.

Just FYI. As a player I know that's a worg. I don't have any issues with us killing worgs. That's all Davi ;)
I don't think any of us actually rolled to identify him. We probably should have done that. Whoops!
Soroza Alessio
Proof that I overthink things: I at no point suspected Greypelt was a worg. My guess was an Evil-aligned awakened dire wolf.
"Awakened animal" is a pretty big "villain you weren't expecting" trope for my DMing, though. So I was probably just projecting. :P
Adrac Rhaddyn
The only reason I recall he's a worg is because when I ran through it oh so long ago, our DM made it a point of noting he's a worg. We kept calling him a wolf and he was like 'Nope, worg, subtle difference'

Just got home a few hours ago. I'm up to date, but I'm a little too pooped right now to post anything more.
Awesome to hear about Iron Gods though!
I hadn't thought to upset anyone, I just really wanted to kill that guy dead. I had a meta-gamey gut feeling that he's got more than mushrooms for loot. I also have a feeling he might just try to take us on while we're weak, if we don't deal with him now. but that's a better in character fear.
That was a bit longer than I had expected, but I'll have something In Character tomorrow.

To clarify. I, personally, am not upset. I actually feel really bad about flipping the metaphorical table but with the way things were going it pushed a bunch of Davi's buttons. It would have been like, inauthentic to not have her react so poorly. But me? If it's got sweet loot I will kill it and take it's stuff.
But yeah. I've never wanted a bluff roll to succeed as much as I did for that one.
Adrac Rhaddyn
Nah, Davi, I gotcha. I can split the in character and out of character reasoning, and that is some good in character reasoning. Adrac's impressed you remembered his prior lessons, he's just a bit tense at the moment.
Now that he and Herral at gone, though, it looks like you guys will have to sort out the drama without his sagely wisdom.
...the same wisdom that keeps getting him nearly killed. Maybe it's better he's gone now. X)

So. I'm now leaving town tomorrow and I won't be home until sometime Tuesday. I'm sorry that I've been falling behind but the past couple of days have been really busy.
Please bot me as needed. I swear I will get back to regular posts once I'm back. :(

Over here in out of character land, I'm extremely happy Anthony brought that alchemist's fire. I am... uncertain... of our ability to handle swarms. :-/

I guess Kiora's posting really is limited during vacation time. I think I'll just move on to the next room. If Jansen and the torch didn't wake up the bats, then I don't know what will.

Oh my god, Adrac and Herral falling in that pit was so upsetting that my housemate, seeing the expression on my face, just asked if I was okay. Hahaha!

Introducing Adrac's new PC :)
I talked it over with him and we decided that Adrac doesn't have much of a reason to adventure now that he has his family <3 so we're introducing Miirik! He'll be useful in a certain module about a certain kobold king that you will play after this one :P
I don't know if he's joining you just yet. It depends on what Miirik wants to do :P
Miirik Dragonchord
Indeed. Behold, I am Miirik Dragonchord, kobold oracle and future Dragon of Darkmoon Vale! Buuuuut that's a story for another day. Right now, he's just a kobold willing to work with the team. :3
And I'm excited as all get out about it.
I don't think he'll be joining quiiiiiiite yet, still not done with Adrac and Miirik still has work to do with his tribe. But I asked GMoL if it'd be cool for him to get involved with the softskin intruders if things got hairy (or scaly... whatever).

That took me entirely too long to get that joke. Well played.

Aaaand I'm back! After having virtually no sleep over three days I'm finally well rested enough to post. I tried to come up with one earlier but it wasn't exactly coherent. >.<
I'm sad that uncle Iro is leaving us. But yay for a new kobold friend!

No worries, GMoL. You do what you gotta do.
Also, I promise I'll get better with the whole diplomacy thing when we get to dealing with some actual kobolds. Most races who don't deal with surface walkers are kinda... rude.

I hope people don't mind splitting the party. I felt like this was the natural course of the conversation in terms of dramatic writing. Hope it wasn't too much. I'm thinking about how we could bring the party back together, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
For strategy, I was thinking Anthony and Soroza go hide next to the door on the other side of the wall while Miirik calls out Graypelt for a 1v1 using the crossbow with the bolts Anthony picked up. He knows they're magical, just not sure how. Anthony and Soroza have prepared actions to strike him as soon as he passes through the doorway, and the three of them will just continue to wallop him until he's dead.
EDIT: to be clear, I meant that after firing a shot at Graypelt Miirik would run and lead him through the door where the trap would be waiting for him.
Davi Accerlas
I don't really know what to do here. Davi was arguing for going back and confronting Greypelt. Sure, she wouldn't want to leave Jansen by himself but she's not defending the worg anymore. Gah. I don't know. I feel really bad for turning everything into a drama fest. Davi would snap back at Anthony because she has been trying to convince Jansen to go confront the worg. But. I don't want to do anything that further fractures the party.
EDIT: I went back and read what I posted. I could have done a better job with showing Davi's line of thinking. Adrac trusts Kobold, Kobold says worg is eating his people, Davi trusts kobold that Adrac trusts so go confront worg
Anthony Read
Sorry to have put you in that situation. But let me offer a few solutions. You may have already thought of a few of these but its good to lay them all out on the table
- She could snap at Anthony
- She could just agree to go along with Anthony and his plan to sneak attack Graypelt.
- She could just stew angrily
- or wait for them to finish feeling a loss of purpose.
- She could continue to try to reason with Jansen while the others go on.
- She could sulk and then decide that helping them is the right thing to do. Maybe Anthony and them start losing the fight and she comes back to have a Big Damn Hero moment.
I like that last one. Gives everyone a chance to patch things up. But maybe you could just use one of those ideas, and branch out from it and come up with your own idea.
I'm sorry to have caused so much dissonance, I just felt like the conversation was going in circles and I had to break the cycle somehow.
