:) I'll keep that in mind.

Good luck guys!

Hey guys!

I’ve got bad news :/

Well, sort of. I’ve been steadily gaining more responsibilities at work, and generally working longer hours because of it. Which is good, because what I’m doing is really interesting.

But it also means I have less free time to devote to DMing – and I need to prioritize my f2f campaign first, obviously. So I’m gonna have to drop this campaign =(

I had so much fun playing with you guys. I wish you the best.

Alright. I was giving Miriik a chance to respond, but since, he’s on vacation and stuff I’m just gonna say he got away before you could find him to move on ;) Tricksy lizard!

The heroes manage to rush back to Falcon’s Hollow without much delay. By the time they arrive, it is already late in the evening, and the heroes have not slept. They are exhausted, but still moving.

They arrive at Roots and Remedies, where they find an enormous line out of Laurel’s shop. The people in the line look upset and anxious.

Anthony works here, so the group can take the back door in, if they wish.

Miriik:
Your kobold brethren eventually emerged from the lower reaches after your call. Their delay was due to laziness. A pair of armed guards.

They came just in time to overhear you loudly threaten the softskins, and their retreat.

They didn't like Greypelt either, so they do not miss him.

Does anyone agree with Jansen? Need at least two of you to agree on the same course of action to move forwards

EDIT: Um. Did we give Adrac/Herral all of the potion ingredients aside from the mushrooms we just got?

yes :)

Soroza, Jansen, Anthony, and Davi head south and away from Droskar's Crucible. After having spent the past few days in this forest, Soroza navigates it with confidence. They are battered, though, and it is dark out. It isn't very long before they are fatigued. Do the heroes want to press on in the dark in an attempt to get back to town sooner, or do they want to rest?

Hell's Rebels sounds so good :) Might try it after WotR... I don't know yet. It's up to my players, haha.

Have fun on your trip! :) :) :)

You can't "break" a sandbox, unless you break the group apart.

NO, don't be, everything was perfect.

I like being taken by surprise :3

I particularly liked how intense Jansen got about his contract with Greypelt. That was excellent.

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay :)

I had a substantial buffer of encounters built up for a long time and we're nearing the end of it. To make things worse, you guys handled that dungeon in a totally... unexpected way *shifty eyes at Miriik*

So what's happened is, the stuff I had prepped for you guys is no longer really applicable, because of how the group is split right now (Adrac/Herral) + (Anthony/Jansen/Soroza/Davi) +(Miriik) and also because of the stuff going on. And I wanna build on what's been going on anyway with the kobolds.

:o) So just give me a second. Sorry!

Is anyone else ready to leave?

Yep :) You're awakeeeee

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Stable. :)

Jansen walks up to the wolf and beheads it with a wet thwack, a sound only the god of death could love.

Combat Ends

Davi finishes off Greypelt with a few savage strikes.

Soroza stable?: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 2 = 14

Soroza lays on the ground. She is stable.

The remaining wolf growls angrily at Miriik, though she cannot understand his words.

Anthony is up.

Jansen's harsh cut slices off a clean piece of the enormous wolf before him into the air.

The remaining wolf wife lunges at Soroza again, growling angrily, but she twists sideways out of the way.

Wolf #1 vs Soroza: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Round 4

Greypelt follows his wife's lead, taking advantage of her distraction to savagely rip into Soroza's throat. She falls to the ground, unconscious.

Greypelt vs Soroza (Power Attack, Sickened): 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 28
Greypelt crit confirm vs Soroza (Power Attack, Sickened): 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 12
Greypel damage vs Soroza (Damage): 1d6 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 = 13
Greypelt trip vs Soroza (Power Attack, Sickened): 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 2 - 2 = 7

Summary: Jansen deals 8 damage to Greypelt. Greypelt deals 13 damage to Soroza, KOing her.

Davi is up.

Anthony is distracted by the kobold's voice and misses the wolf terribly.

Jansen is up.

Davi and Soroza team up to slice and dice on Greypelt.

8 damage to Greypelt.

Miirik:
There is no answer, yet.

Anthony is up.

Jansen and Anthony see an opening and strikes, but the wolf twists away at the last second. He grins fiendishly, and together with his remaining consort they lunge at Soroza. The ranger manages to hold off Greypelt while sidestepping the smaller wolf.

Both wolves 5 ft step south and then attack Soroza.

Rolled dice in initiative order.
Wolf #1 vs Soroza: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Greypelt vs Soroza (Power Attack, Sickened): 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 2 - 2 = 5

Round 3

Davi is up.

Thanks for clearing that up! I was trying to figure that out :(

Worked a double yesterday and then had f2f so was busy... but I'm updating now :)

I love it :3

Some of them work better in a game with strong theming. I think running all-occult for that cthulu AP could be cool. Maybe do that after I finish WotR o_o;

Anthony Read is up

Soroza's deep thrust ruptures an artery, and the wolf quickly dies. Crit result: x2 damage 1d6 bleed, but the normal damage killed it.

Soroza crit damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Soroza bleed damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Soroza kills wolf #2 with a total of 12 damage.

Miriik is up

Lol, Davi.

Soroza is up

it did hit :P

Graypelt sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Greypelt grins at Davi. "Oh? Did your lovely little friends abandon you? Or did they perish in the effort?" Grinning like a Cheshire cat, Greypelt stands up and languidly stretches before slowly moving towards Davi.

"Guess I owe you your reward then, hmm?" He grins, licking his lips. Just as he starts to tense... Davi bolts!

Davi please move your character to wherever you were readied to run to ;)

Initiative Dice
Anthony: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Soroza: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Greypelt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Wolf 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Wolf 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Initiative Order (after resolving readied actions)

1. Greypelt
2. Davi
3. Soroza
4. Miriik
5. Anthony
6. Jansen
7. Wolf #1
8. Wolf #2

Greypelt wheels around the corner to a faceful of uncannily magical bolts - three in total. Anthony manages to nail him in the kidney - nearly incapacitating the beast in one shot. Incredibly, Soroza's bolt erupts into flame as she fires it.

Round 2

The massive wolf snarls at the kobold, "Little traitor! I'll kill every one of your pathetic little tribe after I'm finished with you!" He snaps his massive jaws at Miriik, but the kobold quickly dodges out of the way.

Greypelt fort save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Greypelt sickened: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Anthony crit damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Soroza magical arrow: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Greypelt vs Miriik (Power attack, sickened): 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 2 - 2 = 18

Graypelt takes 18 damage from arrows and is sickened for 5 rounds.

Davi is up.

I'll get things resolved when I'm home from work :)

Was backing off to let you guys resolve your issues! I've been loving the roleplay :D

DC 15 History:
Droskar's Crucible is a temple to Droskar - the evil dwarven god of toil. The fact that you found a ring of Torag here hints to the fact that these were prisoners in a religious civil war between the dwarves hundreds of years ago.

Miriik is so funny! Just waiting for y'all to decide to go fight Greypelt or to go kill his bats :)

Anthony looks over the ring on the dwarven skeleton. It has a large red gemstone set into it that sparkles with in inner fire, and a pair of warhammers - the holy symbol of Torag - inscribed along the band.

Meanwhile, Davi pockets the two mushrooms.

Anthony on ring:
The ring gives fire resistance 10 against the first fire attack that hits the wearer each day. 24 hours must pass for the ring to recharge to grant this effect again. In addition, the wearer gains a +1 resistance bonus on any saves against fire spells/effects.

Welcome back!!

Super tied up with stuff right now at work. In my other campaign, a player left and I had to replace them - doing that took up basically all of my freetime these past two nights >_<

But I have the whole weekend off so I'll post when I get home from work :) Probably around 8pm EST

1 potion of CLW is sufficient to get him on his feet, do you still want to use both?

Soroza/Anthony :
In one of the dwarven corpses, you spot two mushrooms growing - identical to the ones in Graypelt's room. In addition, there is a beautiful golden ring gleaming on his finger.

The secret door swings open to reveal a short corridor with a wall of bars running down one side. The air is thick and musty - this is a room that has not been disturbed in a long time. Four rusted doors open in this wall into four cramped cells. Within the cells are the skeletal remains of dwarves. One is in each cell.

Introducing Adrac's new PC :)

I talked it over with him and we decided that Adrac doesn't have much of a reason to adventure now that he has his family <3 so we're introducing Miirik! He'll be useful in a certain module about a certain kobold king that you will play after this one :P

I don't know if he's joining you just yet. It depends on what Miirik wants to do :P

Gurtlekep seems satisfied. Note: this conversation is in draconic, I just don't wanna exclude anyone since everyone else is at the ruins anyway :P

"Fine but now you get to wait for them to fall unconscious and drag them out," he grunts, tossing him a 50 ft length of frayed hemp rope. "Or knock them out yourself. I don't care. But the tribe will feast tonight." He grins and slinks off in the direction of the ruins.

"But be careful, there are many softskins moving about the temple tonight. Greypelt found himself quite the gullible dinner tonight - they're even doing chores for him!"

Adrac manages to staunch Herral's bleeding, but it is not enough for the poor halfling to regain consciousness. He is still very, very weak.

You can give potions to unconscious folks :)

Miirik:

Gotta give me a diplomacy or bluff check :)

Gurtlekep doesn't turn to look at Miirik, as he is focused on his own trap. "Hmm hmmm. Stooopid little softskins fall in big hole. Dragon King Merlokrep will be pleased."

my vacation is over, and I am sad :(

Meanwhile, Adrac and Herral move through the woods with two of the mushrooms. It is dark out, but occasionally moonlight filters down through the darkwood trees to illuminate the way.

1d10 ⇒ 8

Herral Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Herral moves confidently through the forest back towards Falcon's Hollow. He is in good spirits, hoping that the mushrooms will help save his sister.

Adrac Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Herral Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

They wander down the hill away from the monastery when they walk over a well-camouflaged pit trap.

Adrac reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Herral reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

They both fall into a thirty-foot-deep pit. Thud!

Adrac fall damage: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1) = 6
Herral fall damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3) = 12

Herral falls unconscious from the fall. Adrac is still hanging on, barely.

Herral con check: 1d20 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 3 = 8

Adrac looks over at Herral. The torch is laying beside him, illuminating a large head wound. Herral is dying.

From afar...

Miirik:

You are hot on the trail of one Gurtlekep - a kobold scout employed by Dragon King Merlokrep. He is currently sitting in a tree, watching a pair of pink-skins fall in a giant pit trap of his own design. He doesn't know you are there.

Anthony stealthily moves into the room after handing off his torch to Jansen, finding it to be an armory. Old cobweb covered racks and armor stands dominate much of this small chamber. What must have once been a well-tended armory is now devoid of arms and armor.

He finds a secret door in the northeast corner of the room.

He also finds four bolts with red fletching underneath a rack.

He does not find any bats.

Detect Magic + Spellcraft DC 25 on bolts:
They are four flaming bolts

So the bats are in room 12. How are you approaching this? Who is going into the room first?

Adrac and Herral leave together with the mushrooms in tow.

Graypelt lounges lazily. "I would like for you to kill the bats I have infesting the ruins down the hall. And also the giant spider who lives inside the tower in the courtyard." He grins wickedly. "Be careful, he hides in the ceiling."

"Farewell, two-legs. The moon is full tonight."

Errands all day today.

I am going to the beach next week so my posting is going to be limited :) Just an FYI!

But my Iron gods players should be happy to know that the last few books are gonna be my beach reading material <3

f2f meeting tonight, will post either lateeeee tonight or tomorrow :)

Technically, Adrac doesn't know he is a worg, not without the appropriate knowledge check :)

I'll have Anthony roll for it and bring it up somewhere not right in his face, lol.

Ooh, they are, my bad ;)

Secret rolls:

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 6) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 1) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 4) - 3 = 14
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 3) - 3 = 14
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 2) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 4) - 1 = 11

Greypelt turns around and shambles languidly over to the corner of the room with the mushrooms and lays in front of them.

"Old man, if I wanted you dead, you'd be dead," he sneers. "I have said my piece. Now help me rrrrrid my home of pests. Orrrr leave."

His wives turn and lay in front of him, eyeing the heroes warily. They trigger AoOs from Soroza, Anthony, and Jansen if you are so inclined.
