That was AWESOME!!
Also, Soroza and Davi are like bffs. Horray for
doing stupid stuffthinking outside the box!
Thinking outside the box, to possibly embarrassing effect, is the bread and butter of specialized martials put in unusual situations outside of their skill set at low levels. It is a proud, if awkward, club.

So many Peppy quotes! SO many possibilities! Oh, which one to go with... erm... "I've taken a few hits, but I'm okay." ... "You're becoming more like your father." ... "Sorry, guys, I gotta sit this one out!"
Ah, this one!
"Never give up! Trust your instincts!"

Holy hell. I've fought defensively as a strategic concern in the past, but I don't know that I've ever had it so clearly save my bacon as it did in this encounter. Ha-ha!

So, I just saw Jurassic World yesterday (a good movie if you want to turn your brain off for a bit and watch dinosaurs). And having seen that movie, I'm now reeeeeeeeally facepalming at Adrac just brushing off the dragon. That's... straight out of a movie like that.

It looks AWESOME. I'm playing in a Council of Thieves game right now and I almost want my character to die just so I can make a Vigilante to replace her. I would call him The Man Bat and it would be the best.

it's pretty amazing :O
It'd be cool to have a 4-person vigilante superhero team. ;)
I was specifically thinking a 4-person party of vigilantes would be perfect/thematic/awesome for the upcoming Hell's Rebels AP.
Perhaps it's time I geared up to run a PBP?
Soroza Alessio |
Ohhh I hadn't seen the new AP yet. That looks awesome. I wonder if there's any crossover with Council of Thieves.
Not particularly, from what I understand. Rather it seems to be much more "What everyone thought CoT was going to be."
It will dovetail into the following AP, Hell's Vengeance, which will be the long badied-about "Evil AP".

Also, Davi, I was talking to a friend that played through the Falcon's Hollow stuff, and upon mention of the wounded fox he informed me that his bard named the little critter Beyonce.
Our game has had a somewhat more serious tone than that, hahaha, but I figured I'd throw it out there anyways. XD

Sorry if that was a bit too vulgar, but I needed a good Calistrian swear and that just seemed to fit the religion and Soroza pretty well. I can edit if it doesn't sit right with everyone.
Adrac Rhaddyn |
I've heard worse. Besides, that's straight-up funny.
Also, we're gonna be having a talk about this "dream invasion" thing later. Either with Davi, Ulizima, and/or both. That ain't cool.

Dang... and that was a max damage roll too. That's a spirit slapper.
Good to know we came so far and fought so hard in order to be laid low by unruly cookware. XP

This is not meeting my expectations for magical cookware. Where is the singing and the dancing and food?
Only in France. We're in totally-not-at-all colonial America, the only thing you get with that is a heaping helping of FREEDOM!!!!!!

Hey everyone! Soroza doesn't have much to say at this particular in-game moment, and my neck of the woods is blowing up into the biggest party the USA has ever seen: one I don't intend to miss. So! Bot me if necessary and I'll see all of your lovely avatars back on here tomorrow (assuming I'm conscious, haha!).

Hey guys!
I just wanted to remind everyone that this game has a 1/day posting minimum. People who cannot meet this requirement will be replaced.
If you are in danger of being replaced, you will have already gotten a PM from me. Other folks need not fear. However, the posting rate from everyone has gone down. Here are some suggestions to help improve things:
- Just because we're in the middle of combat and its not your turn is no excuse not to post. Comment on what is going on in discussion, be social. You can roleplay inbetween your turns in combat. Make banter. React to stuff going on - a good hit by an ally (or an enemy!). Let us know what is going on in your character's head. Strategize in discussion. I don't consider OOC strategizing to be meta-gaming. In fact, sometimes I expect it.
- There is always something for your character to do. Just because you can't contribute to an encounter because you lack the skills needed for the skill checks laid out doesn't mean you have to stand around uselessly. Make knowledge-gathering rolls. Roleplay. If all else fails, just show us what your PC is thinking. Say something to a fellow PC. Whatever. There is something for you to do.
- If you can't post you MUST let me know AHEAD of time. If you have a smartphone, it literally takes the time it takes to fire off a quick text message to post in discussion or PM me: "sorry, swamped at work! I'll try and post tomorrow." Always give me a date when you think you'll be able to post. This lets me know how long I have to bot you.
- If there are certain days of the week where you know you are going to be busy - then let me know now, and I will know not to expect you to always be able to post on those days. Weekends, for example.
- You can pre-roll an action in discussion if you foresee being too busy to post when your initiative turn is up. I would rather see a pre-rolled action than have you hold up the game and cause combat to take forever.
- Posting in discussion counts towards your 1/day posting minimum. It helps us all know you are still around, reading posts and playing the game.
Remember, every person who does not meet the posting requirements drags the game down for everyone else, and makes everyone else not want to meet the requirements due to not having enough people/actions to react to. It's really hard to roleplay, for example, when some of you are posting four or less days out of the week. Likewise, holding up combat or forcing people to wait around for you to make a skill check drags the game to a halt.
Thanks for reading all this. I love you all, really. All of you are fantastic roleplayers. I'd run a f2f session for any of you in a heartbeat. But don't think for one second that I will hesitate to replace you to keep this game going. I have worked for months building this game world - making story hooks, working on NPCs, reading setting material. I have a 100+ page campaign document that I wrote myself. I'm in here for the long haul - I don't expect my players to be. What I do ask is that you be honest with yourselves. Ask yourself - "Can I commit to a 1/day posting schedule?" And if the answer is "No, I'm too busy" - it doesn't make you a bad person. Just a person too busy to play a game with the level of activity that I want to run. No hard feelings.
Thanks for taking the time to read that wall of text :) Now let's save a town from the plague!
(PS: If you have anything on your mind and you don't wanna bring it up here, PM me! Questions, concerns, whatever.)

As a closing thought, how I personally keep tabs on the game (and why I tend to react pretty quickly to new posts when I'm available) is by using RSS feed readers:
If you use google chrome, RSS Feed Reader is a chrome app that puts a little RSS icon in the top right of your browser. You can set it to read Paizo forums automatically. It then "pings" the Paizo website every couple of minutes (how often you want it to do this is up to you) and if there has been an update to a forum, it sends a notification flying on your screen (similar to how Outlook notifies you of a new e-mail) as well as a red number on the RSS icon indicating how many unread posts you have. It is free.
If you use a phone or tablet, there are a number of RSS apps. I use Boxcar a free phone app. It works just like RSS feed reader except it sends my phone a notification (like a text message) whenever someone posts.
These are good options if you dislike refreshing your campaign tab over and over only to find no updates, as you will only be checking the forum when there is something new to read :)

Ah, if there's one thing I am certainly guilty of it is going idle while it is not my turn in combat. Normally out-of-turn banter is a given in the analog world without a thought, I'll have to make sure I get into the habit of consciously throwing some in here and there to make sure I'm keeping posting pace.
With regards to smartphone use, my iPhone 4 is on it's very last legs and updating on the forum with it is typically a ~10 minute process due it it sporadically logging me when I try to post or refresh. However! I'm finally getting a new laptop, which means I'll likely never need the phone to get in an update anyways.
Soroza Alessio |
Also! I will also look into that RSS app... As I've said before, I am a pretty severe luddite by today's standards: while I'm aware of what an RSS feed is I've never actually used one. *bum bum bummmmm*
It sounds pretty helpful though: knowing exactly when to log on makes it less likely I'll forget to post on any give day. :P
GM of Liberty |
:)
RSS Feed Reader is really easy to use....but if you don't primarily use a computer to post with it isn't as helpful. The mobile version of it costs $2/mo or $20 annually, ouch!
Boxcar is a little harder to use. You need to copy/paste the RSS URL into it to make it work, while RSS Feed Reader automatically detects RSS feeds for you. You can get the URL by clicking on one of the RSS links on the top of the page on the forum. It also runs a little more sluggishly, though I have both set to ping every 5 minutes, BoxCar typically takes 15 mins+ to detect a post...not a big deal I guess but still true.
There are a lot of RSS phone apps that you can pay for that are probably more user friendly but I'm cheap and went for the free ones :p

I shall drop out. No hard feelings here just a posting rate that I cannot do justice to now I have lost the ability to post from work.
Understand the frustration GMoL and I'd rather someone better able to meet your needs the chance to have fun. Your game matters too much to carry anyone.
Cheers and good luck
P.S. look after Herral, he was a great guy.
Soroza Alessio |
@GMoL: This may end up being entirely moot, because the thing on Soroza's back could well be dead by the time her turn comes around, but I wanted to get a jump on it because it will likely require a ruling from you and I don't want to potentially hold up combat.
If the creature is still attached to her back, Soroza would like to leap upwards, then fall onto her back in an attempt to crush it. The simplest way to rule this would be to just call it a typical unarmed attack with the addition of knocking myself prone, but I have a sneaking suspicion you might want to have some fun with it. :3

Hmmmmm it'll probably be dead by then haha
I'll rule the attack roll as an unarmed attack
but the damage will be 2d6 lethal (using falling objects rules for a small object, since Soroza =/= medium sized boulder)
and also a ruined outfit :(
Yeah, hahaha, it almost certainly will. But I wanted to be ready in the event I get to do something creative!
