Thanks for all the time you have put into this campaign, Damien. I know it must have been many, many more hours on your side of the screen from us players, and it always showed in the incredible detail and intricacies you weaved into the plot, characters, and setting. You're an amazing GM. And this game has been the best, and longest, campaign I've been lucky enough to take part in.
Thanks again for everything.
To Jack, John, Jyri, and Steve: Thanks for being an amazing group to pbp with. Being a part of this campaign was truly an honor, and by far the most enjoyable game I've been a part of, even if I did disappear for while. It was great RPing with each of you, and the character interactions were by far the most detailed and rewarding I've taken part in. You are all amazing players, and it was a honor to try and keep up with the stellar RP each of you did, and the amazing characters you created.
I'll digress from this like-fest, but this was an amazing game and I just wanted to make sure and state that. I'll be sure to get a few more Aoife posts up, interacting with latest Jorvik twists and such.
Thanks again to everyone :)

I will save my thank you for in person. I am so very grateful for EVERYTHING!
Sorry for Jorvik delays , some business came up on vacation and I deleted a large portion of Jorvik's death accidentally on the iPad
So much so little time.

What he said.
It's been amazing journey, and amazing game. Thanks to everyone for being part of this, and especially to Damien for his outstanding effort bringing the life. I had forgotten how powerful RPG's can be :)
Of course I'm saddened it will be over for me, but mostly I'm thankful for the time it lasted. AP's over pbp are crazy effort, and perhaps they are not meant for mortals to finish :)

Loving everyone's posts in the wake of Jorvik's death. I'm going to miss this format... if not the time it takes.
Thanks again everyone for making this such fun, and also thank you for the kind parting words earlier.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and sorry for thread blasting. I 'died' about a half an hour before I left on vacation and it has been quite surreal. Walking with my family and a Jorvik death post ruminating in the back of my mind.
Finding time to post between fun family outings.
I am saddened by all that is happening, my 'death', the game ending, and I just haven't been able to fully come to grips with it and mourn with all of you properly.
I don't want to miss this, but that is part of growing up and life in general. Weird how that works.
Tomorrow is a travel day for me. I have one more part to go in Jorvik's death. GM told me a post a day, but I don't know if physically or emotionally I can finish it tomorrow.
Regardless it will get done.
I can't wait to see most of you at GenCon and Jyri I am not losing hope that we shall game together in the very near future. I have ideas.

Hey boys, as of now I am officially unable to post anything - no time before GenCon!
I will leave this thread open for a week or so after GenCon to allow us to wrap up our stories and the death of Jorvik. Feel free to post between now and Monday, just don't expect a GM response.
Cheers!

Have fun in GenCon!
I'll try to get a wrap-up post once I get back home and back to work.

I am still in the process of writing the final Death of Jorvik post. It has proven much harder then the previous 5. I will get myself on my writing horse right quick.

What a wild road this game has taken. Now that I am done (or very nearly done), I am so sad that this is ending. But such is life and rather than dwell on the sadness, I am so, so happy for everything I was able to do in this game.
GM You have and will always be my GM. No one ever has or will have run games like you. I am blessed to have been a part of it. Thanks for taking a flyer on a old guy that tried too hard.
Ice and Kuragin You both have been such a part of my life for such a long time. I hope this is not the end of both our friendships and gaming together. Email or PM, I will be around.
Everyone Thank you for helping me to make Jorvik what he was. He would not have been him without you.
Everyone All of your characters are awesome, and I am so glad that I got to be a part of it with you. You really are the Superstars.
Quick Primer on Jorvik death
- Jorvik is dead. He died a real death.
- The scenes with the snowcaster evles was a way for me to symbolize Vsevolod's spear thrusts, and kill Heafoc (sad)
- The scene in Whitethrone was a way for me to symbolize Vsevolod's hoof attacks and to show a little of Jorvik's childhood (Aoife encouraged it)
- The scene in the ether was a conversation between Pharasma, Baba Yaga, Desna, and finally <redacted>.
- Jorvik is dead. He died a real death.
- Something just came back to life inside Jorvik's body.

The Death of Jorvik - End
...
Without warning, Jorvik farts. ...
Baaaahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
Well done my friend, well done. You have finally done it! You called your shot, and I spent 5 minutes in my cubicle trying to stifle my laughter so I wouldn’t have to explain myself to my coworkers. Tears of laughter and sadness, but mostly laughter.
Which leads me to my next part - wanting to echo Jorvik's post.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart GM Damo, for the countless hours and effort and time you have put into this incredible story.
Thanks GM Damo, for allowing us to suck you back into finishing book 2 and running book 3 in story mode, even though you tried to quit PbP this last winter.
Thank you a thousand times GM Damo for your dedication to this thread, and to the ultimate rule of gaming, Have Fun!
I’ve never been a part of such an immersive story, and I am honored to have been involved with all of you greats. I've never had so much fun writing, and this game has inspired me to want to write even more. I've always wondered if I had what it takes to write a novel. It's clear that there are many things I lack, but with guys like you I sure feel like I could give it a good run and come up with something that at least a few people would enjoy, and it would be worth every painstaking effort.
I will miss this thread and the story it tells. The best news is it won’t really ever go away, and I can always just pull it back up and start reading from the beginning. Back when we were all so innocent and naïve…

Thank you for the kind words, Steve... and you are all of you welcome. I had a great time and thank you for the time and effort you all put in to making this campaign come alive.
I've come to realize that it was a lack of time and not fun that has caused me to stop. Sure, the time factor sometimes made it not fun, but if I had more spare time, I could think of little I'd rather spend it doing than GMing this PbP for you fine writers.
Alas, it is not the case, but I'm really satisfied with this ending. It feels beautifully dramatic, and the death of Jorvik is something I never saw coming - so it's a breath of fresh air for me as a GM also.
Still got a little time for more wrap-up, so enjoy the rest of this week of posting. Remember, though, it will come down on Monday (15th).
Jorvik_RoW |
So not really sure how much more I want to further Jorvik's story. I might just leave it there.
GM Damo |
Fine by me. I'll give everyone tomorrow to wrap it up. Let's say you take the unconscious form of whatever Jorvik is now back to the hut. Say your goodbyes to Jadrenka.
I was thinking Ice Melts Quietly in Sunlight and Kuragin might decide to use the Hut to go back to Whitethrone to ensure their respective faction / team's success. Might make for a nice farewell. We can say that Zorka has those keys.
Ishbaad the Chosen |
I am all set with the thread. Gonna miss it.
Going to have to keep writing for Ishbaad as well. So many characters that I like writing for...
Its been real, and its been fun. Its even been Real Fun. Thanks for everything each of you.
