GM Damo |

Thanks for waiting all. I really didn't want to rush that and I only had my phone to post from until now.
Hope you enjoyed that bit... it concludes book 2! Chronicles will be coming out soon!
I take it everyone is still happy to proceed with book 3? Let's see how much of it we can get punched out between now and GenCon.
To give your roleplaying something of a guide for between now and my next post (probably tomorrow morning), you'll have roughly one hour before the Hut touches down on the First World.

Aoife Limerick |

Read gameplay first for GM_Damo's post. Please!

GM Damo |

Hey boys, moving along some time shortly after 9am (unless I squeeze a post in beforehand).
I just wanted to mention / re-mention that we are now in story mode! Yay! For this, let's not worry about silly things like resting 8 hours and re-memorizing spells, hit points, and so on. Let's just say you have your full repertoire available any time you feel the story demands it and we can push on. If you want an in-game reason, both the Hut and the First World are filled with strange energies that can distort reality and time itself. Who is to say how long it takes to heal or what spells suddenly come floating back to your mind with such places at your disposal?
Also, I had originally considered running the mini BBEG combats, but this will take too long (only 53 days before GenCon!). If we have time at the end, I will run the final BBEG combat (upped to CR +1 or +2, since you have Aoife back!).
Finally, I will be away in Florida beginning Saturday 18th and will be away for the entire week (and the following weekend). I have absolutely no idea how good the cell reception is at the beach house where we're staying, but I'll likely be able to post at least once per day from my phone (I'm not bringing my computer).

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Wooo Story Mode!
And slightly jealous of your trip to Florida. You better have fun!

GM Damo |

Heh. Looks like Chris and I broke you guys with too much reading. Well, actually, it's after Kuragin's bed time and Jorvik lost an Internet.
Ishbaad... well, he'll be on, soon and in greater numbers (word-count-wise).

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Haha! Company golf outing today, forgot to get my post up this morning.
Sorry!
I'm try to get something up tonight

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Post won't happen tonight guys, sorry. I'll try for tomorrow, but we are going to be busy this weekend. The big race is this Sunday. (Half ironman triathlon in grand rapids) lots of pre race prep to do, and my mother is visiting from Florida.
I am excited about this puzzle though!

Ishbaad the Chosen |

/slaps damien with a glove, challenging him to a duel for insulting his honor
Ha! Is drunk posting kinda like drunk texting?
Anyways - Stole a moment to post this morning. WOuld have loved to write more, but this weekend will be tough. As I mentioned above, tomorrow is the big race I have been training for 7 months for. We are heading to GR to pick up race packets today, and this evening will be spent making sure that everything is ready. Also, going to bed really early tonight because I have to be up at about 3:15am in order to get ready, leave, and arrive at the race in time to get everything set up.
And then when this 6 hour self-inflicted torture of a race is over, hopefully I will have crossed the finish line and still be in one piece.
I am absolutely getting a tattoo to commemorate this achievement as well.
I am nervous, and excited, and definitely ready to get it over with. A couple of years ago I did a Olympic distance Triathlon, and thought I was going to die. (this is almost twice as far) I swore I was never going to do one again. The funny thing is, in the process of training for this longer distance, I found that I really really really want to do more of the olympic and sprint distances - I am in such better shape now that I know I could perform very well.
Anyways, I'm done rambling. Off to finish preparations. With luck there will be another post tonight, and hopefully tomorrow evening. No promises though.

GM Damo |

To help out a little, I've put some pertinent information on the Campaign Info tab, specifically, the clues that the ravens have given you thus far for easy reference.
I also wanted to reiterate that you are by no means the 'new black riders'. There is, and only ever will be, one Black Rider of Baba Yaga. Currently, you collectively bear his mantle - so you have the responsibility he bore (rescuing his mistress), in return for a mystical boost to an ability score, but you do not have rights to his title.
This isn't to say that, when Baba Yaga is freed, you couldn't petition her to become her new black rider. Immortality anyone? You should see the other perks! ;-)
All that said, it doesn't mean you cannot claim it. I just want you to know that your characters are aware of the situation (unless they are kidding themselves with delusions of grandeur, which is fine also).

GM Damo |

(did he have time to create a new mutagen?)
See my comments above about story mode. I know it can be odd playing without consideration for mechanics, but I'm hoping it will be quite freeing.
So, to be super clear, the answer to:
"Can I have...?"
"Did I have time for...?"
"Is it okay for me to...?"
... and all similar questions is "yes". Totally up to you. Obviously, this is still an RPG, so stick to within the vague realm of reason for your character, but go for it. Haven't tested up yet and want to cast that spell? Sure. Out of bombs? Oh, wait, had one spare! If you break the game in a way that I don't think will be fun for you or the others, I will let you know.
I will give you notice before the BBEG, if we have time to actually roll that fight out.

Jorvik_RoW |

(unless they are kidding themselves with delusions of grandeur, which is fine also).
I like that option. Jorvik compensating for his self-conscious makes sense to me, role-play wise.

Ishbaad the Chosen |

I like the idea that Ishbaad is throwing around that they are the black rider. As if the difference between being the black rider and only wearing his mantle isn't enough for people who don't know to care, and for people who would know, would get what he really means.
Of course, that could be its own delusion...
:)
I had figured some form of redemption for Ishbaad as an endgame to his story, though a complete flip to Baba Yaga's champion... Even I wouldn't have seen that coming... Interesting thought. Pretty sure Iomedae wouldn't condone that however.

GM Damo |

Oh, and I think everyone should probably know or be able to guess now why I chose the Dancing Hut as my avatar:
It is a very central plot device to the campaign from here on in. It is also (in part) an adventure unto itself. Hope you're liking the pace of the story mode. I'm trying to keep things moving without assuming too much about your actions.

Ishbaad the Chosen |

I'm loving it. I'm digging the general weirdness around the Hut. It definitely feels like a witches Hut, not just some magical place. Pace is great too. I've had a couple opportunities missed to interact, but I'm totally OK with that since more often than not I'm the one thread blasting. I like that the three riddles were all solved by someone different.

GM - given that we're taking some time, and Ice Melts Quietly in Sunlight has a language he could learn after leveling, he would like to learn Russian. Using the book we found would likely be reasonably helpful in doing this?
Now, I understand that there will be some time before he can actually use it, though with an INT of 23, that might not be as long as many of us in the 'real world' (add to that his +12 linguistics skill).
If this doesn't make sense, he'll keep studying the language primer, and pick it up when he gains 8th level.

GM Damo |

Next level up, it's yours. As I mentioned before, you can spend background skill points in linguistics (despite the rules) in order to gain non-Golarion languages using the books available in the library.

![]() |

Works for me. No big deal. He's gonna be hogging that book for a while, though. The little guy loves to talk, so he needs more languages to talk in.

GM Damo |

Hey boys, just reminding you that I'll be in Florida all next week (from this Saturday to next Sunday). During that time, I'll likely get in a few posts, but it will be on the phone.
I'll be packing this afternoon, but will try to get a couple of posts in this morning.
Have fun with the Hut! I figure you can take turns at controlling it, when you post, tell me what you want the Hut to do.
Oh, and going out there and fighting the giants is a possibility also (or you could chat with them)... but it is a CR appropriate encounter to face just one of these creatures, fifty could slaughter you.

GM Damo |

Oh, hey, I'm skipping a large part of the (not sanctioned) content coming up next. There is an infuriating non-sequitur where you end up negotiating for passage through their lands with a band of centaurs who know absolutely nothing about your ongoing plot. This encounter has no apparent reason, either mechanically or plot-related (other than some XP). They don't even have magic items to speak of to help you with gearing up. There are also some set encounters that seem like a classic 'wandering monster' encounters with some demons and an elk-riding cold rider (would be so cruel to use that encounter).
So... fell free to incorporate them into your descriptions when you finally leave the hut... but (since we have a week in slow mode while I'm away), might as well...
LEVEL UP TO 8!
That'll get you on the right track for the plot related place you need to be next...
... speaking of, read the dawn raven's clue. There's some stuff you have yet to find answers for! Specifically, who or what 'Artrosa' is.
Of course, being level 8 makes little difference at this point (in story mode), but you might as well so you know what your character is capable of for your descriptions.

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Wooo 8!
Going to let someone else get in on the hut control action for now.

![]() |

Just finished 7th where he picked up Shock Bomb and Dispelling Bomb (took extra discovery, and retrained something into extra discovery... blanking on what now)
For 8th... wow.
Icy's gonna get the following:
Fast Bombs (to get iterative attacks with bombs)
New extracts: Tongues, Displacement (adding to Fly and Heroism).
Maxing out a lot more skills... will post today.

Aoife Limerick |

LEVEL UP TO 8!
Sweet! This is amazing!
Aoife's is leveled up to 8 and her paizo avatar is updated with the new stats. She took a 5th level in Brawler (strangler)...
At this level, she picked up greater grapple which should really help her fall in line with the character concept I had envisioned for her forever ago. I'm pretty much super excited.
If both of her hands are free, anytime a creature misses with a melee attack Aoife gets a free grapple attempt on them. Then, because of greater grapple, she can maintain the grapple on her turn as a move action, which allows her to then both damage the creature and move to pin it in the same round. For damaging creatures while in a grapple, because she has sap adapt and sap master, if she chooses to inflict non-lethal damage, when grappling Aoife adds 6d6 sneak attack damage to her unarmed strike (or 3d6 if using lethal damage).
Sorry for nerding out all over you guys, I just got excited :)

Aoife Limerick |

That's it from me for today! Have fun guys, and we'll pick up the pace again on the 26th.
Have fun in Florida, Damien!

Kuragin Kseniya |

Sweet, level 8! Meaning lvl 4 spells and a new hex and stat increase to int.
Tongues hex sounds perfect for the adventures ahead. Spells I need to think a bit... Kuragin gets confusion from patron, that's a solid choice. Black tentacles would be a classic, fleshworm infestation would be icky and nasty. Do you know any useful lvl-4 spells for witch?
And enjoy Florida, Damien!

![]() |

Funny! Ice Melts Quietly in Sunlight is taking the Tongues extract for the same reason.
I think he'll be making some potions of it as we have time. That, and/or comprehend languages. (assuming neither are personal, which they probably are)

![]() |

Do you know any useful lvl-4 spells for witch?
Some good spells (I might not go with Black Tentacles, 'cause it tends to slow things down too much. Really can be a PITA).
Just some ideas. :D

Ishbaad the Chosen |

I've been struggling with my posting lately - I feel like I'm just getting the bare minimum for content in there, and haven't been going as deep.
Just wanted to say I recognize it and am trying to work on it. I'll get there :)

GM Damo |

Hi boys. Posting from the nearest town here. No internet at our beach house and I'm lucky to get cell reception let alone data. I've got my threads open now so I'll try to compose a post in response and put it up as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay - and other than the poor internets, this part of Florida is awesome!

Jorvik_RoW |

Internet issues here in suburbia. Post was eaten lat night.
Looking forward to leveling up, might take me a bit to figure out my path to Mammoth Rider.

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Ok, Ishbaad is updated to lvl 8.
Took another level of cavalier. I think I am going to head back to the Inquisitor path moving forward, at least for the next 3 levels (which, admittedly, is a ways off)
My challenge ability is pretty decent, plus I have cavalier's charge now (once I get a mount). Time to go back and make my judgements better... :)
Glad you are having fun in Florida!! Watch out for alligators!

Aoife Limerick |

Aoife - So just to make sure we are all on the same page, we didn't shrink, the hut just grew in size. Kinda like when the truck next to you on the road starts moving forward and for a moment you panic thinking you are rolling backwards...
Roger that. We're on the same page. I know (as a player) that the hut grew, but I was trying to play up in a couple of my posts, with a bit of artistic license, that Aoife was confused if she had shrunk, or even what the heck happened. And to her, she felt like a tiny, little mouse, looking up at the giant table and room around her.
We're good! :)

Aoife Limerick |

Thanks! No idea what that would mean for the gloves, if anything at all. But it seemed weird, so I went with it :)

Kuragin Kseniya |

It's Midsummer this week, and thus a big celebration in this part of the world. I'll be also moving off-town and offline, coming back on Monday.
Have a nice weekend, even if you don't celebrate the midnight sun!

![]() |

Did we divvy out treasure (or at least value) so that we might have cash to upgrade things? I didn't see any notation on the loot sheets.

Ishbaad the Chosen |

It has been split up Icy - look at the Treasure #2 tab.
I noticed Jorvik is putting his old equipment on there to split up for the party too. I don't think we necessarily need to do that, unless our overall gear disparity is somewhat significant. Up to you guys.
One quick thing though - @Jorvik - If you aren't going to use that bow that I gifted you in the beginning of the adventure, I would love to have that as a backup ranged weapon... :)

![]() |

@Ishbaad, that's the "Cash Each column" I assume, then?

![]() |

I tweaked the spreadsheet, so that stuff we're handing back can be added below.

![]() |

Another quick note:
Someone should write the following into their spellbooks:
Protection vs Energy (3)
Nondetection (3)
If no one else can, Ice Melts Quietly in Sunlight will, because he can then make potions of them.
I just noticed that my slick chain shirt was targeted for Aoife... does she want it still (she currently has a +2 chain shirt)?

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Are we "turning stuff back in"?
Again, I don't think we need to, but if that's what everyone wants to do then I'm ok with that.

Ishbaad the Chosen |

Sorry for my absence yesterday, got busy at work.
On the bright side, the heavy lifting is done, and my robot project is mostly installed... Nice shiny brand new robot...
Anyways...
I am probably going to spend an inordinate amount of time figuring this out, but its ok. With GM Damo's very generous Cauldron of Vending offer, there is a slightly complicated, but not terrible way we can divvy everything up.
I'll work on it and post it all at once later today.

Jorvik_RoW |

One quick thing though - @Jorvik - If you aren't going to use that bow that I gifted you in the beginning of the adventure, I would love to have that as a backup ranged weapon... :)
Done

GM Damo |

Having the girls home over Summer is kicking my butt for posting, boys. I'll try to get 2 in per day, but it is unlikely I'll be able to do more than that (but again, I'll try).
I would have liked a bit more back-n-forth with the witch tree, but perhaps my clues were too subtle leading up to it. Just don't forget you bear the mantle of Baba Yaga's Black Rider and you are on a quest to free her from her prison in parts unknown... and this place was created by her.

Jorvik_RoW |

I will be offline until tomorrow evening. Might be able to sneak one in but unlikely. Have fun boys.
Ishbaad Yes we need to figure out carvings on your armor. Excited to do this when I have a bit more time.

GM Damo |

Sorry about the no-post until now. As I mentioned, Summer holidays are going to make my posting sporadic at best. On the positive side, I had a great day with my daughter. Filled with loads of stuff - and no time for posting. Currently snatching a bit of time while she's having a swimming lesson... and feeling guilty for not watching as much as I should.
