Titania Olivia Thrune |

I pinged him on Discord, but he hasn't responded and his last post was back on the 15th. I think we should start looking for a new GM, as much as I hate to say that.

Update and post again?

Titania Olivia Thrune |

Yeah. I sent him a PM here, but I think it might be time just to start looking.

Let's hope we get someone.

Titania Olivia Thrune |

Looks like DM DoctorEvil's willing to take over. Would everyone be alright with that?

Erridon Drallen |

I already commented in the recruitment thread. Everyone be nice..... ;)

Sounds great.

DM DoctorEvil |

Hey all! Thanks for giving me a chance to rescue your game. I have run RotRL several times before and was once upon a time a 4-star PFS GM for PF1, but moved all my game playing to PF2 some time back. Have run countless numbers of IRL games and more than a handful of PBP campaigns as well. So I have some experience, but will admit to be quite rusty around PF1 things -- I am sure it will come back quickly. Runelords is one of my favorite-ist stories and I look forward to making the world of Sandpoint (and beyond) come to life for you.
I live in US Mountain time zone, and usually post nightly around 9PM or later, and will post on weekends if you want to. I will do my best to give advance notice if I am going to miss extended time (or even a day) but sometimes its not possible.
I appreciate any feedback on my gameplay style or how we can make the game more enjoyable for you. Feel free to share here or via private message. My main role here is to make the game fun for you and tell a great story. I take both those responsibilities seriously.
I will try to read up to speed and learn a bit about your characters and backstories. I usually make and keep an updated version of my games PCs on Hero Lab so I may be asking you some build questions etc. to make sure we start on the same page.
Look forward to journeying together. Tell me things i should know!

Titania Olivia Thrune |

Hi and welcome!
I live in the US Central time zone. I try to post regularly, but I've been struggling the last two months thanks to having to commute 90 miles to work and then 90 miles back home. I'm currently job hunting for something that doesn't cost me $20 in gas everyday.
I do have HeroLab so I'll zip up the portfolio file and send it over to you. Tot's just a straight fighter that has a few tricks up her sleeve thanks to some of her traits, and to be honest, that's how I'm planning on keeping her.
I'll try posting something more thorough over the weekend. It's getting late over here and I'm too foggy-minded to get my thoughts organized.

Erridon Drallen |

I'm on eastern time, usually online a lot unless I have to go in to the office where a firewall blocks me. That's rare though.
Erridon is very smart but has led a sheltered life. His mother may know what he really is, but he doesn't. He's starting to question things a lot and finds unanswered questions almost impossible to resist. That may be part of what draws him to Tot, or it might be that she is a Tiefling. Then again, he thinks that she's younger than he is because of how small she is....
If you have any questions about the build or my tentative plans, please ask.
Don't know if you spotted it, but the original plan was to use Automatic Bonus Progression. A link is in the original recruitment thread. Will you be going with that?

Grod the Cunning |

I'm in US central time, and most available in the afternoons after work/school. I also use HeroLab, I'll see if I can drop Grod's file in the Discord.
Grod's a half-orc warpriest of Gorum, pretty uncomplicated. Wear heavy armor, swing large axe, enemy pieces fall down. Healing? Sorry, used my spells on Divine Favor and Shield of Faith. :)

DM DoctorEvil |

To be honest, I hadn't really looked at the build rules until now. They seem very generous which may mean the Challenge rating of encounters may have to go up, or the WBL may have to come down to offset. In fact, the text around Automatic Bonus Progression suggests reducing magical item frequency. Is that how you want to play it?
I haven't looked at Hero Lab to know if the optional build rules are available for toggling on but will investigate tomorrow.
Thanks for the character thumbnails, feel free to share more, or any deep dark secrets via spoiler or PM.

Titania Olivia Thrune |

You'll need Pathfinder Unchained for the ABL, but I think everything else is just toggles and adjustments.

Isidiana |

Hi DM Doctor Evil I think you already know me as a player thanks to other games. I am in the EST time zone but sometimes my inner clock is wonky.
Isidiana is very much a gnome, eccentric , flamboyant and so on. Bit of a gobo phobe compared to the others but may yet work on it. Right now, a lot of our RP is bouncing between the PCs themselves which is nice but my bard is looking forward to getting to know the people of sandpoint even better than she does now.

Garen is a paladin given to the temple of Ragathiel at the age of 9. He has been taught that it is his job to rid the world of evil where he may find it. He judges people by their actions but may use detect evil to determine his level of trust. Monsters and monstrous humanoids he considers evil on sight though he is unlikely to strike them down if they surrender.

Erridon Drallen |

As the GM, the question of Automatic Bonus Progression is up to you. I've heard arguments for and against it. It does mean that the standards, +x to whatever, no longer apply. It makes the "lesser" options for magic items more interesting....
I'm fine either way as I've never been in a game where it was used. I've read and understand the rules and think it's an interesting concept....

Titania Olivia Thrune |

I'm also fine either way. ABL does allow more interesting items to shine, but it also kinda shoots itself in the foot with how it handles magic weapons and armor since the special properties take up the bonuses you get from leveling, at least in my opinion.
Tot is a caravan guard and cook who's tired of life on the road and has taken employment at the Rusty Dragon as Ameiko's helper in the kitchen. She's a shy tiefling woman that often has trouble speaking without stuttering, at least until she grows comfortable around the person she's speaking to. She also, as you may have guessed from her real name, Titania Olivia Thrune, has a pretty big secret she's keeping from everyone, namely she's from a branch of the Chelish Imperial family, though there have been some hints, a slight Chelish aristocratic accent, hiding from those with obvious ties to Cheliax, et cetera.
Since the Swallowtail Festival, Tot's been starting to fall hard for Erridon and is currently the closest to him out of all the PCs. She's also warmed up to Ameiko, not the least because she's accepted Tot's oddities in appearance and personality. There's something that I know is coming up that I was hoping for a little more set up, but I'll PM you about that to avoid spoilers.

Erridon Drallen |

All sounds good. There hasn’t been much loot so the sheet is right.
Doesn’t really matter where the maps are, but in melee maps are best if the character icons are movable.

![]() |

Here if at all possible. I have an old discord account but check it rarely.
No ABP is fine, makes it much easier because the GM doesn't have to change the gear of npcs around.
Forgot to mention I am on eastern standard time and typically post between 6-10pm.

DM DoctorEvil |

Drat, I’ve always found ABP an interesting option that I don’t get to play with enough. That may be part of why I was interested in this game in the first place. Oh well, too late now.
Sorry Grod! You will find that I am very much a traditionalist if I get to choose. Hope you will stick it out with us anyway!

DM DoctorEvil |

I read the whole Gameplay thread, and have a good idea where you are and where we are headed. I will start looking at PC builds to get more acquainted, but may get a real post up in the thread before too long (likely tomorrow).
I may have specific questions about PC builds that I will post here later.
Quick question: if the Swallowtail Festival was 1 Rova, what day is it now? I get the sense that 1-2 days went by but not sure how that makes sense with the discovery of the looted crypt.

Erridon Drallen |

I think 2 days is right. Is that a problem?

DM DoctorEvil |

I think 2 days is right. Is that a problem?
Not a problem, just trying to make sure my sense of it is correct. One last thing, if you please, can you tell me what your current wealth is now? After starting cash, any equipment purchases, and whatever money you have made/spent, can you just bottom line it for me each? It will get the new Loot Tracker started.

Titania Olivia Thrune |

Tot has ~172 gp worth of gear, a mount (light combat trained horse) worth 110 gp, and 17 gp, 10 sp, and 8 cp in cash.
Total wealth: 300 gp, 4 sp, 9 cp
Also, Tot was in the middle of a conversation with Ameiko when the previous GM got eaten by real life stuff. I was kinda hoping to play that one out.

Erridon Drallen |

We were each supposed to get 10 GP and one trained light war horse as a reward for the battle at the Festival. I think that's all we've gotten so far.

![]() |

122 in gear, 58gp, light combat trained mount. Total about 290

DM DoctorEvil |

Please note the Sheriff's exposition here is to get you new information and retcon (to some extent) things that prior GMs started with that are possibly outside what the text has in mind. This is as gentle a way to get them back on track as I could come up with.
Sorry for any confusion or loss of verisimilitude that comes along with corrections.

Erridon Drallen |

No problem. Get the game back on track and rolling! Thank you!

Titania Olivia Thrune |

No worries about the retcon. I'm with Ari on this one. More than happy to just have this rolling again.

Titania Olivia Thrune |

I don't think anyone told Tot about the tracks, and I'm just as certain this is the first time she's heard about Father Tobyn and Nualia.

DM DoctorEvil |

Let me know how you want to handle Knowledge checks. I would usually spoiler that knowledge to whoever made the check, but if you will just automatically relate it to the rest of the group, I can just post the results for everyone to read.
Some prefer to narrate in character, while others don't care.
Also, since this is PF1, and not PF2, which has Secret Checks for most Knowledge and Diplomacy skills (among other things), you can roll those checks for yourself instead of just providing the modifier. I just have Izzy's player well trained from our other game...

Titania Olivia Thrune |

I'm okay with using secret checks or rolling. One of the best things about TTRPGs is they are infinitely hackable, so hack away if you wish. :)
I'm very much here for the roleplay, so even if you do post it in the clear, I'll probably still put it into Tot's words.

Erridon Drallen |

Erridon's skills and inspiration can make some rolls complicated. Any of the checks where Inspiration is free I just automatically add it. For others where it costs 1 inspiration point I can decide after knowing the result of the roll and choose whether or not to add it. Note: That would make it best for me not to know what the DC of the check would be....

DM DoctorEvil |

I linked my usual Loot Tracker at the top margin as well. Tab 1 will be for items you find that have not been identified, sold, or distributed. Tab 2 will be for tracking cash on hand. Please let me know your cash on hand if I haven't already loaded it. Tab 3 is distribution of goods with approx value so you can see who has been assigned what and how equal the distribution is.
I may add more tabs, like a calendar, if it becomes necessary. You should be able to view but not edit this worksheet.

Titania Olivia Thrune |

I didn't see the map link, so thanks for the heads up. I've moved Tot to the door. I figured you'd want to reveal the map.

Erridon Drallen |

I've only got read access to the loot tracker. Erridon has 25.9 gold

DM DoctorEvil |

If we were playing tabletop in real time, I would follow the initiative order exactly but due to the asynchronous nature of PBP, I usually will do block initiatives by team. In this case, all the party is before the monster. Feel free to post in any order, and I will resolve the actions in initiative order (or close) if possible. It may cause a little disruption or necessary "if, then" kind of posting, but we will get used to it quickly, I think.
Testing my ability to run PF1 with an early combat, though I expect, not a very difficult one.
