You guys are brilliant! This is clearly a fantastic game and lots of credit to you all for making it that way! [Most credit to WW I'm afraid, but there's more work coming in from there than I've seen (or done) in almost any game on the forum!] Kudos all round! :)
Thank-you Nikolaus! All due credit goes to our GM for providing a very rich environment for our characters to flourish though. It is easy to write well with a great GM and creative players who write well. I'll admit, Nariel is probably among if not my favorite PbP character/game, up there with a really great WotW character I had... who incidentally was also an elven wizard (Necromancer, evil, like the opposite of Nariel)
But everyone still lives, despite my best efforts - and their complete lack of preparation.
We were unprepared, and probably should've high tailed it out of the caves with our tails between our legs after the bat encounter... but the quick rule adjustment you made compensated for our lack of preparation.
In other words, thanks for the help! Next time we go into some dark crevice, I think we'll need to be better prepared XD
On a side note, are we waiting on anyone?

Narièl Laeric |

What's that about dark crevices? :D
Had a feeling I wouldn't slip that one by you XD

Aivar Kurisyl |

To be fair, swarms are in the top three of 'worst designed mechanics' in Pathfinder. When I dm, I often handwave the rules and play it by ear when it comes to swarms and grappling.
And if you think I'm exaggerating, that's cool, but consider this. Going by the rules as written, alchemist fire doesn't hurt the swarm. Obviously, they're meant to be a cheap low-level item that counters swarms, but yeah. Writing rules be hard.

Raquel Cailean |

They seem to be handled much better in 2nd edition. They are just weak against area and splash damage and resist physical damage.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Yea verily, thus I spoke, and Paizo listened.

Narièl Laeric |

Just a heads up, I'll be unable to post until Friday night. If things get moving again, feel free to bot Nariel if necessary.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Sorry for the delay, posting now!
EDIT: and we're moving again. Apologies again for the slow pace, I will make a point of posting more regularly.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Glad you're still with us! Hang in there :)

Narièl Laeric |

Just a heads up, I'll be unable to post until for a day or two.

Narièl Laeric |

I could throw a web down, try to slow the armors down. I doubt though I'd be able to get the undead chain thing, he is both beside an open flame and would likely burn through it easily.

Narièl Laeric |

Should we just go ahead for the time being?

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Yeah, I like to think I've been fairly patient but this is getting annoying.
I am at work now but will post something this evening regardless.
After that, and going forward from now, I will give people 48 hours or so to post before moving the action onward.

Raquel Cailean |

I think that is a reasonable policy. Otherwise combats are going to take weeks to resolve.

Aivar Kurisyl |

That sounds fair to me. At some point, it becomes hard to stay invested in a combat scene when it simply drags on and on. And with nothing happening, yeah, that's definitely one way for it to drag on :)

Tristan Aislin |

Indeed, my standing policy for combat is a guaranteed 24 hours to post, but after that I control the PC's as needed during combat. Sometimes I have the time to keep things rolling along and its a shame to waste that.
Of course, other times (like now, for instance) I take three days myself to post the next DM part, so players have a bit more leeway...

Arianna Wending |

Yeaaah that's probably a fair ruling, I need to be better about posting.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Just wanted to give praise for the relationship between Nariel and Raquel. Even though it will never be romantic, it feels like there's a lot of love there. Cheers! :)

Absolutely :)
I think ever since Nariel damned near froze to death so many months back, Raquel has been a very important saviour to Nariel. An elf never forgets...
Oh wait, the saying is an elephant never forgets... ah close enough, you get the idea.

Sasha Yezhov |

Super sorry, guys. I know I've got to be better about posting. It's always been something I do at work, but work has been much more involved lately, so all of my games have been suffering.
I need to develop the habit of checking my games when I get home and working on them before I start something else distracting.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I appreciate the posts. I haven't been super-speedy in posting either and I want to do better so let's do this thing.
Just waiting on Tristan and Aivar.

Raquel Cailean |

Wanted to give everybody a heads up. I'm in Hurricane Dorian's potential path, but I work for a local news station so I'll likely be working 12-hour shifts starting in the next few days and throughout the week. Posting will likely be sporadic, especially if we lose power at home. GM, please bot me as necessary.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

No problems - and stay safe, OK? I'm in far too many games with you to lose you :P

Narièl Laeric |

Yikes! I only remember getting caught in a hurricane once out in Halifax, but it wasn't too bad of one (category 1)... Dorian seems to be packing more of a punch, so be sure to stay safe!

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Weekend full of wedding stuff - I'll post later today.

Narièl Laeric |

Just a heads up - won't be able to post until tomorrow evening, but since the next round is going up later today, that shouldn't be too much of a delay.

Narièl Laeric |

Hey folks, just wanted to let you know I'll post later this evening.
On other news... good god, those rolls Wastrel; two natural 20s to resist Web. I swear I don't know why I even bother with crowd control sometimes :P
Then to add insult to injury, another natural 20 further on in the rolls. What are the odds of such mayhem?

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I know, I know! Three natural 20s, a 19 and an 18 - plus a bunch of crazy d100 rolls. What can you do?

Aivar Kurisyl |

Pray to RNGesus :'(

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Raquel - your blindness had a duration measured in rounds (less than 30 seconds, really); now you're out of combat it clears up rapidly :)

Arianna Wending |

I apologize but I cannot find the original post describing the exact function of the wand of Cure x Wounds, it went into Raquel's bag last November and was forgotten, could I get a link to the original post?

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Arianna: ask and ye shall receive
It's under the spoiler for Nariel: it functions as a Wand of Cure, usable 3 times a day. It automatically heightens to the highest level of Cure that the wielder can cast: e.g. Cure Light for 1st level cleric, Cure Moderate for 3rd level cleric, usw. It can't be used to cast Mass Cure spells.
Also, and you may have missed it, but Raquel already used it twice so it only has one use left for today.

Arianna Wending |

Huh. So she did. Yeah totally missed that.

Narièl Laeric |

"That was a load-bearing dwarf"
Win. Definitely had me laughing XD

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Arianna Wending wrote:"That was a load-bearing dwarf"Win. Definitely had me laughing XD
Same - well played :)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Do we have the option of ordering items from larger cities through traveling merchants? Say, for wands or such that we aren't likely to have available in town.
@Tristan: you can absolutely hand over large sums of money to merchants you have never met before, yes. Whether you ever see them again is another matter ^_^
(On a more serious note - yes, you can place orders this way, but there's a hefty markup and a delay before they come back with what you ordered. There should be some incentive for you to build up your own town's capabilities, after all)
I'll update the loot sheet this weekend. All that adamantine and mithril weapons will certainly add some to our fortune. Do you want me to just use the CRB values for those things Wastrel?
@Nariel - yes, CRB values are fine :)

Sasha Yezhov |

As a head's up, I'm out of town until late Sunday. I might get a chance to post, but I can't guarantee anything. Please bot me in case of a delay.

Narièl Laeric |

By the way, the loot sheet is updated. Also Aivar, just not that the mithril armor is worth a good chunk of change at 10,500g, so your share is somewhat disproportionately in the red at the moment. Nothing to worry about, same thing happened to Nariel when we found the pearl of power if you're wondering why his seems off.

Aivar Kurisyl |

That's alright. Oddly enough, whether it's regular plate or mithral plate is pretty much meaningless from a mechanical point of view, but from a RP pov it means *a lot*. A Shelynite in resplendent armor? A graf strutting about in armor that invokes feelings of jealousy? Awww yis.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Blech - all day meetings :(
Brain frazzled. Will post tomorrow.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

There's nothing in the rulebook that says you have to like your advisers (or they, you; or even each other).
