This scene is hilarious by the way XD

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Glad you're enjoying it!
Going to hold off in case anyone else wants to post something

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I was thinking mainly of Tristan/Sasha. I'll post something this evening, regardless.

Tristan Aislin |

Glad I got to chime in in time. Gotta get some use out of this silver tongue.
Also, a question for you Wastrel: How much does the average commoner in the Mark know about the dangers out here? Would telling the story of the cursed undead dwarf go as poorly as I imagine it could?
Also, Nariel: I added my dex+2 item to the loot sheet. I thiiiink I did it correctly, but you might want to double-check.

Narièl Laeric |

Close! Just missed one cell; I've updated the list to reflect the purchases. Still thinking of using Nariel's bonus wizard feat at 5th level though for Craft Wondrous Items; there are too many useful items that could be made with that feat at half-price.

"Ha! Cayden loves me. My actions have no consequences!" Raquel insists.
Heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh
(It's OK. You'll find out what's making me laugh. Oh yes. You'll all find out.)

Narièl Laeric |

Ooo, a new word for Webster's.
As an aside, you should be more afraid than aroused when Wastrel gets the devilish like this; last time he said something like that, Nariel spend six months cowering in fear of a certain contact of hers... just saying XD

Wandering GM Wastrel |

@Raquel - doing what you like regardless of consequences is pretty much the essence of Chaotic Neutral. I'm not going to force an alignment change on you here and now, but that seems to be the direction of travel.
(No judgement is implied - I would hope that this campaign is a safe space for people who want to make that sort of transition. I know that Sasha seems a lot happier since she 'came out' as Lawful Neutral.)

Raquel Cailean |

Ah, of course. Raquel is mostly joking about that statement though. She wouldn't actually do anything that would cause harm to others.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I saw this question, thought "Oh, that is an important point, I'll come back to it when I have time" ... and promptly forgot until now.
The average commoner has heard stories of the Stolen Lands for a long time now and would be unsurprised by pretty much anything, although they're also used to tall tales of fey and suchlike; so any stories you tell will get a mixture of reactions from polite disbelief (more likely) to outright hero-worship (less likely) and anything in between.
Ultimately, as long as whatever is Out There stays Out There and doesn't start shambling through town putting curses on ordinary people, the townsfolk will listen politely to pretty much any story you tell them, provided it's interesting and they aren't otherwise busy.

Raquel Cailean |

Oh the smith has to make a Will save to throw me out if it counts as an attack. Adoration and all that. :)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

No he doesn't. Cayden doesn't protect you from being thrown out of bars (or whatever) while drunk. After all, it happened to him often enough :)

Besides, it adds to the humor of this whole situation... like the cat being being casually put out at the end of the Flintstone theme song before all hell breaks loose; honestly, I don't know why that image was conjured in my mind XD

Wandering GM Wastrel |

...Aivar clearly keeping a low profile and hoping the whole thing will die down :)

Aivar Kurisyl |

Haha, I've had a busy two days and only now found some time to sit my ass down and catch up on what's going on.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Meh.
My tabletop group ended it this weekend. It was a slow drawn-out prolonged death (1 session every two weeks, became 1/month, then once every six weeks or so, and then purely ad-hoc), but we finally got together in the same place and talked it over.
RIP. There were some good times over the last, what, decade or so
(No idea why I'm sharing that with you guys, btw. I'm just online and venting.)

Raquel Cailean |

Sorry to hear things ended that way. With luck, this game won't peter out in the same fashion.
Raquel sends hugs and drinks!

Narièl Laeric |

Sorry to hear that Wastrel, it's always a shame when a good game group comes to an end.
To concur with Raquel though, this game is going strong with some great character development and strong player commitment. It perhaps is not quite the same as the live games I know, but at least it's consistent.

Narièl Laeric |

On a separate note, we need to discuss changes to turn #3 from our original plan. Here is what we initially discussed:
- Terrain improvement of H3 or I3 to a farm (2 BP)
- Terrain improvement of I4 for roads (3 BP)
- Build Housing (3 BP)
- Build Tannery (6 BP)
Total: 15 BP
I vote for claiming hex I3, as that gets a closer to Oleg's and properly connects Thorndale to the main road to the north. Based on our discussions with Karl and Koster, we'll need to build a mansion now. I propose we hit the breaks on the Tannery and extra housing, and build the mansion instead. Here is my updated proposal:
- Terrain improvement of I3 to a farm (2 BP)
- Terrain improvement of I4 for roads (3 BP)
- Build Mansion (10 BP)
Total: 16 BP
It's slightly more expensive by +1 BP, but we've presently got 24 BP in the treasury. The mansion does add +1 stability, and solves our problem with Koster. It also provides a proper place to do the business of government as we've discussed, that is until a proper Town Hall can be built.
Thoughts?

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Sounds good - where on the map do you want the mansion, and does it have a name?

Narièl Laeric |

Not sure about the name, but I have two ideas for location. The first is to build in the heart of the city, somewhere visible to all at #15.
The other might be a more scenic place to build would be on the river, upstream from industry at either #31 or #32.

Aivar Kurisyl |

Definitely 32!

Tristan Aislin |

The scenic spot is the better long-term option. Eventually we'll want a real townhall building that is in the thick of things. This is, as I understand it, still more of a temporary arrangement to get us out of Karl's hair. A middle-term fix.

Arianna Wending |

I fully agree to building the mansion for multiple purposes, especially as a seat of government, but I think it's also worth considering that it might not be wholly appropriate for all of us to live under the same roof. Aivar as Graf lives there of course, but the rest of us should at least sleep in our own homes.

Narièl Laeric |

I do eventually want to build a Wizard's Tower for Nariel XD
So, consensus seems to be the riverside then? Is it possible that the Mansion be built up on a slightly higher elevation like a bluff?

Right now, of course, none of you has a home - which is why you were using the tavern in the first place.
You're welcome to build homes for yourselves, as Nariel has indicated. It's just a question of allocating Build Points and deciding what you want (house, mansion, caster's tower, noble villa, palace, castle, usw) and where you want it built.
I've added a mansion in square 32 of the map, and given it the name River Manse - unimaginative, but it's been a long day. Feel free to personalise it a bit (no, Raquel).

Tristan Aislin |

Raquel's wrestling with the blacksmith has only whetted her appetite, it seems.

Aivar Kurisyl |

This idiot spilled coffee over his mechanical keyboard and it might take a day for it to dry up -_- only have my phone atm

Narièl Laeric |

Wastrel, quick couple of questions:
1) Our Kingdom re-rolls, how do we use them? That was our first really rough round, and perhaps a time to consider a re-roll.
2) Is Nariel able to get access to any spells in anyway? It would be nice to expand her spell repertoire so she has more options (i.e. fire and acid would be good right about now, other than my cantrips and elementals)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

1) tell me you want to use it (I assumed not this round simply because although the rolls were suboptimal there wasn't actually any adverse effect).
2) You can buy scrolls (if you build the right shops) and/or research (assuming enough downtime).

Arianna Wending |

Cantrips, like Acid Splash, might actually be alright. The thing is that trolls don't take extra damage from acid and fire damage, but as long as they take at least one point of acid or fire damage per round they can't regenerate. I think it's more important to have reliable sources as such, and maybe try to figure out a way to not have to fight them all at once.

Yeah, it was a poor round, but nothing catastrophic; so maybe forget what I had suggested, and hang onto them for a truly rainy day.

Sounds good, I'll memorize acid splash, and be sure to summon up some fire elementals then. I did want to write up some invisibility scrolls before we go though.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

That depends on whether you can persuade the others to hold off on confronting the trolls while you spend a few hours/days (can't remember the rules on timing) scribing scrolls :)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Interesting. Where were you planning to buy it from?

Tristan Aislin |

Repeating from my post: Does Bokken make anything like that? Acid potions to throw or fire blade oil type things?

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Bokken is an alchemist and may well have things like that available. Of course, he is also some way out of your fastest route to the mine.
So far, your itinerary is looking like
1 Arodus (today): kingdom building
2 & 3 Arodus: Nariel scribes two scrolls of Invisibility
4 Arodus: go find Bokken
5 Arodus: go see trolls
6-12 Arodus: finish kingdom building for this month
7 Arodus: ????

Tristan Aislin |

Aivar still has to agree to officially create the title. :P
And yeah, Tristan would like to visit Bokken. Fighting trolls with no better source of fire than a torch doesn't sound fun, even if the others have things.
