The Faceless GM's Golarion Apocalypse Recruitment

Recruitment

51 to 100 of 435 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | next > last >>

@ mechaPoet: If you want to, you can drop some of your scores if you feel it's extreme.

@ Fury of the Tempest: I'm not going to allow 3.5 material. 3rd party that was made for Pathfinder may be allowed depending on my access to it. If I can't find it on the PFSRD, there's not a great chance of me allowing it.

@ Johnnycat93: Oh, that's a typo. It should be 'max hit points at 1st level, with average + 1 for all levels beyond 1st'.

It's actually Pathfinder material, from Dreamscarred Press' take on Psionics.

Elan.

Psychic Warrior.

No Dreamscarred Press Psionics. No psychics other than Paizo's Occult Adventurers.

Very intrigued here, coming over from the other thread. Lemme roll first and see what happens...
And I've decided to spoiler it all, because wow. The rolls I got. UPDATE: After rolling 8 TIMES and not meeting 20 points, I'm going to keep rolling in another post, both to avoid exceeding a character limit if there is one, and to maybe reset the RNG.

Rolls:
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 3) = 8 = 7
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 2) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 1) = 8 = 7
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 1) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 6) = 19 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 2) = 11 = 9
16, 11, 9, 8, 7, 7. That... that may be the absolute crappiest set of rolls I've ever had. And it equates to a 0 point buy. That's... wow. Time to roll again.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 6) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 5) = 18 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 1) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 4) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3) = 12 = 11
16, 13, 13, 11, 11, 10. At least this time it actually used points. 18 of them, but still...

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 2) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 6) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 1) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 2) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 4) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 4) = 16 = 13
13, 13, 11, 10, 10, 8. Back down to a 5 point buy. Holy sh*t.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 1) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 3) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 4) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 4) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 3) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 3) = 10 = 9
15, 13, 12, 12, 11, 9. 14 point buy. What the f*ck.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 5) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 5) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 3) = 16 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 4) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 2) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 5) = 19 = 16
16, 13, 13, 13, 11, 9. 19 point buy. Wow. This is now a test of wills.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 1) = 8 = 7
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 3) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 4) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 2) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 4) = 17 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 4) = 15 = 13
14, 13, 11, 11, 10, 7. Now it's a 6. Great.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 3) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 1) = 5 = 4
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 2) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 4) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 2) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 5) = 16 = 15
15, 14, 12, 11, 8, 4. If we used the formula to calculate the points gained from dumping a score to 4, this would be a 1 point buy. Somehow higher than my original roll.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 6) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 3) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 5) = 20 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 5) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 3) = 10 = 9
16, 14, 13, 12, 9, 9. 18 point buy. Why.

LOUP BLANC'S QUEST FOR A NOT AWFUL ROLL, PART 2
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 1) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 2) = 18 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 4) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 1) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 5) = 20 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 1) = 8 = 7
16, 16, 14, 13, 8, 7. Finally. After way too much struggling and deciding to manually type out all 6 of those rolls instead of copy-pasting (in case Arenji doesn't like that), a 22 point buy. And I'm taking it. I don't know what I'll do with it, as it screws up a few ideas, and that 8 and 7 are gonna hurt. But I'm gonna do it.

EDIT: As a general question, would you be open to Path of War stuff from Dreamscarred Press? It's interesting and fairly balanced.

I would have to take my time to familiarize myself with Path of War, but I'd be willing to consider it.

GM questions:

1. What does your character look like? (Height, weight, age, appearance, etc.)

Vokrent is 18, has short wild black hair, 198 pounds, 6,6, and a chiseled face devoid of baby fat.

2. What is your character’s personality?

Vokrent has much distaste for things of the cloak and dagger variety, prefers to speak his mind. He is kind to everyone who doesn't work with the leaders currently destroying golarion. He is not a eloquent speaker by any means and likes to keep his conversations short and meaningful and let his action do the talking in most cases.

3. Where is your character from?
Golarion has changed a lot in the last few years. Where you are from can mean a lot about who your character is.

Vokrent was born in the lands of the mammoth lords and raised there until he was 15 when the winter witch conquered and subjugated everyone.

4. Why does your character have the class, feats, weapon, etc. that they do? Where and how did they learn to fight? What made them take up this path?

reactionary
Vokrent's name means unbroken or unbreakable, which was ironic considering he was a very frail child. He was bullied all his child hood by the older, stronger kids.

hard to kill
When the witches arrived and demanded tribute, Vokrent's parents were poor and did not have much. So they gave them Vokrent; the witches used Vokrent for many experimental magic test, powering up his Constitution.

exotic weapons proficiency, weapons focus(katana), toughness, power attack, weapon guard, weapons training2After two years of torture and experiments, Vokrent was saved by a travaling samurai named Kenshin who had escaped from the new empire of oni. Kenshin lost his right arm in the escape and Vokrent was forced to take up his blade and armor to protect them while Kenshin led them to the newly formed free nations, all the while he was being taught the way of the katana.

5. Is your character religious? If so, who do they worship and why?

Vokrent, before the fall, had followed iomedae and had a bit of a crush on her.
But when he was suffering under the witches and cried out for help, he received nothing and he left his faith. He feels the gods don't deserve his faith if they didn't want to help even a devotee.

6. How has your character's life changed in the last few years? What has the changing world done to your character and what do you intend to do about it?

After making it to the free nations, he stayed with Kenshin who open a dojo to train people in the art of a samurai to protect themselves. He tried to teach Vokrent, but Vokrent declined the samurai code and kept to learning everything he could about katanas, dedicating everything he had to learning so he could eventually kill the white witch who to him has caused all his trouble.

This is Ilir Olcana from before with the paladin of freedom submission.

Crunch is in the profile, ready for your review. Items/inventory not finalized yet as they may be more party-dependent.

Here's the background I'm working on. Let me know what you think thus far. Without a timeline of events or set starting locale, it's difficult to tie-in too many setting-specific elements.:

Story:
Tosk was the son of an orcish shaman and human smith. While the crudity of his father's race and the fecundity of his mother's didn't seem likely to mix, they did, and well. They bore 6 children together, Tosk being the second youngest of the bunch.

In centuries past, such a family structure would have been ostracized and berated in public. With the catastrophes throughout the realm, however, folks became much more accepting of culture blending; if it wasn't an immediate threat, they didn't care too much. Tosk regularly took advantage of this relative indifference to bed various races and sexes on a regular basis.

What was up for debate was the nature of the family's worship. From his father's clan, his mother had taken also to the faith of the Iron God. Working in the entropic deity's favor was the prowess he bestowed upon warriors in battle. Traditionalists in the cities warned Gorum was only interested in war, not ending it for their own peace. They were perhaps correct, but with no end in sight, their views were aired, but rejected. The worship stood.

Tosk was one of the frontier soldiers of the faith, providing necessary defense to the band of nations along with many others. They disagreed on methods, but results were what mattered, and they drank and ate together at the day's end.

Unusually for families nowadays, all of Tosk's siblings lived. Except for his oldest sister, Klora, each of them served to keep the domain safe in some manner. In contrast, she ran an inn. And has some of the best rum around...

There's a rough timeline on page 1. If you have any questions, feel from the ask and I'll answer them as much as I can.

Question for GM:

How do you in particular run an Animal Companion in your games?

Messing around with the idea of a Hobgoblin Sacred Huntmaster with the Tactics inquisition who travels with a Roc animal companion

You know, I just thought of a kind of oddball character concept. I probably won't use it, but I figured I'd run it by you and see how you felt about it.

So, my first ever Pathfinder character was a Half-Orc Monk named Navorak (escaped slave from the Shackles is his general backstory). I played him through the first book of Serpent's Skull, and then retired him peacefully once the group was rescued because he was a MESS mechanically and I couldn't salvage it into anything workable.

Would it be possible to recycle that character wholesale? He was level 3 at the time, and left the crew (who then went on to Saventh-Yi and died on the expedition, being unable to stop Ydersius' resurrection). Perhaps toss in a bit of "survivor's guilt" when he realizes he left them when that could very well have been the difference between their life and death.

The Hobgoblin thing still sounds more fun, but the idea kind of grabbed me randomly.

Johnnycat here with my submission. LE Ulfen Alchemist/Fighter. Everything should be in order and any feedback/suggestions/criticism is welcomed and appreciated!

Background:

Quote:
1. What does your character look like? (Height, weight, age, appearance, etc.)

Late twenties/early thirties. Athletic build siding on stocky.

Quote:
2. What is your character’s personality?

A dangerous combination of paranoia and power-hungry. The destruction of the Land of the Linnorm Kings at the hand of Irrisen has left Sotza with a burning desire for revenge and yearning to rebuild his homeland.

Quote:
3. Where is your character from? Golarion has changed a lot in the last few years. Where you are from can mean a lot about who your character is.

Originally from the Land of the Linnorm Kings before they were conquered. Up until very recently he was enslaved by a Duergar enclave in the Shadowlands. His lust for revenge led to his eventual escape.

Quote:
4. Why does your character have the class, feats, weapon, etc. that they do? Where and how did they learn to fight? What made them take up this path?

Just before his escape from the Duergar, Sotza learned of the blueprints for powerful construct-based weapons. He stole the written instructions and blueprints and, unable to understand them in total on his own, stole one of the early prototype constructs as well. Promethean Alchemist, Mark of Slavery

But the world is no longer fit for a prospective student. Refined arts give way to base survival. Sotza is a brawler; he fights dirty and he fights to win. Siegebreaker/Brawler Fighter, Combat Stamina, Vengeful

In the meantime he continues to slowly decipher the portions of research he stole. In place of formal training he relies on brute force and grim tenacity. Maybe, in another life, he could have made a halfway decent alchemist Toilcrafter, Magical Knack, Point Blank Shot, Concentrated Splash, Craft Construct, Craft Wondrous Items

Quote:
5. Is your character religious? If so, who do they worship and why?

Droskar the Dark Smith.

Success, victory, at all costs. No price is too steep for Sotza just as no act is too low for Droskar. Sotza's infatuation with unraveling the stolen secrets of the Duergar weaponsmiths also mirrors the sentiment that led to Droskars departure from the teachings of Torag.

Quote:
6. How has your character's life changed in the last few years? What has the changing world done to your character and what do you intend to do about it?

Besides the obvious (destruction of ones homeland and subsequent enslavement), Sotza has been hardened considerably by the apocalypse. Right now he searches the ashes of the burning world for the materials and expertise he needs to construct his construct weapon (while jealously guarding those secrets from all others). Once that is done he aims to take the head of Queen Elvanna with the ultimate aim of restoring the Land of the Linnorm Kings under his singular rule.

@ Rynjin: that could work out fine if you wanted to do it. It would be interesting to see.

@ Johnnycat: looks pretty good. I'll take a look at the details in the morning, but I'm kind of tired and don't want to overlook anything.

If it is alright with everyone, I believe I will be posting a list of the submissions now and then.

Stratos/Ilir Olcana: Tosk Saladin, CG Male Half-Orc Paladin (Hospitaler) 3

TurtSnacko: Vokrent, ? Male Human (?) Fighter (Weapon Master) 3

Hey Faceless DM, I have to ask, are you familiar with Robert Brookes' Ruins of Pathfinder games? Here're a couple links in case you're not, since they might provide inspiration. (They start with the same conceit that all previous APs ended in the heroes failing.)

At any rate, I enjoyed playing in a few games in that setting and like the thought of trying your take on it so...

Oh come on! Occult Adventuers doesn't do psychics at all! Its just magic put under the title of 'pyschic'! DSP actually does Psionics as a different system! Like seriously, how exactly is Occult Adventuerer's 'Psychic' different from arcane and divine spellcasters? DSP actually does Psionic justice, giving us classes and abilities that spellcasters just can't replicate.

Nice intro, I'm a fan of things post-apocalyptic so definitely piques my interest :)

chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 6) = 12 11
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 1) = 8 7
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 6) = 14 13

chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 6) = 16 14
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 2) = 11 10

...7 point buy... wow!

chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 3) = 18 15
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 3) = 15 14
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 5) = 18 15
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 6) = 15 13
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 5) = 19 15
chance cube: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 3) = 9 8

...27! That certainly gives me some ideas for MAD classes!

Will have a think and see what appeals :)

A couple of quick questions for Faceless GM:

1) Would you consider allowing access to the apocalypse oracle mystery (from the Monster Codex) for characters who aren't fire giants??

2) Would you allow the Barbarian unchained rage stance power Calm Stance to work as a prerequisite for Rage Prophet in place of Moment of Clarity (since both do much the same thing)?

Ideally, the concept I have at the moment is that of a Suli Oracle/Barbarian who will go eventually into Rage Prophet, hailing from the blasted lands of the Domain of Fire. With the changes that Unchained brings to the barbarian, the Rage Prophet class may not work without some fixing/reworking. Is all good either way :)

As for me, still not sure what I'll end up submitting, but I'll probably write up two characters.

The years of torture have destroyed Vokrent's rose tinted glasses, while he still is good, he understands evil much more then he did before.

Good advice. The first time I'll think of attacking a GM in a recruitment thread, I'll make sure not to.

Until then, until then, if I find something ridiculous I'll say so. After all, expressing the sentiment of something being ridiculous is not an attack on the GM in anyway.

I do not believe ridiculous factors into it, as it is the GM's choice what to include and what not to include as far as character creation and submission is concerned. We can certainly ask if he would be willing to, say, change his mind or we can make suggestions (such as your suggestion in the interest thread to not start at 1st level, but instead something like 3rd or 4th), but in the end, it is his game and thus his choice and his choice alone.

For example, I am not sure how I feel about Mythic, as it adds a lot more complexity and number crunching to the whole thing, but the GM wants to include it. If I felt too strongly about being against Mythic rules, I would simply not apply to the game. But since I can live with it, despite the Kineticist not having much of a Mythic Path equivalent, I am sure I can think of one to choose and perhaps take a look at the more universal path abilities.

As for Dreamscarred Press' Psionics rules and Paizo's Occult stuff, they are pretty different, but I think that is because they are different things. After all, at least the way I see them, Psionicists and Psychics are not necessarily one and the same, and much in the same way neither are Psionics and the Occult. In short, Occult Adventures is quite possibly not Paizo's version of a Psionics handbook.

I think you might have missed this question, Faceless.

Is it:
-Max at 1st, then average hit die plus one for each next level. So a fighter would get 10 then 6 each level after.
-Max every level. So a fighter gets 10 every level.
-Max at 1st and then max plus average. So a fighter gets 10 at 1st and 16 each level after.

I humbly submit Maximo the "Brave", a kobold paladin guided by a white toad familiar named Nyx. His toad helped save him from death at the hands of a choker and led him to a hidden temple of Apsu. Now, he has taken on the mantle of the Talon of Apsu, a kobold champion who rises once roughly every century to protect the world from destruction. He is cowardly and easy to scare (Aura of Courage be damned, I say!), but in spite of his lack of size, bravery or knowing what he's doing, he presses on into the heart of evil, hoping he can fake it until he makes it. As he levels, I plan to take more racial feats that unlock his draconic ancestry.

Also, he carries around his "lucky pick" just for peace of mind. He can wield it in battle... but it's just an old pickaxe. Nothing special. A security blanket of sorts.

Actually, I don't know if I could get away with this, but I had a look at the Dragon Disciple PrC... and I think he could qualify for it. If the GM would let me (a paladin would most certainly benefit from the DD class features), and since his casting stat is Charisma, it would suit him well. Granted, he wouldn't be casting very much, but his Draconic Magic feat lets him cast 1st and 2nd level sorcerer spells without preparation... and he speaks Draconic naturally... and is 3/5 of the way to the Kn. Arcana rank qualification.

I leave that up to the DM. I didn't notice it, and it sure as heck wouldn't be optimal, but it would be a great confidence boost to be able to turn into a dragon eventually. I still have to flesh out his personality and equipment, but I think you get the gist at the moment.

Thanks, both of you, but an eidolon/phantom would form a triangle relationship of sorts, and I don't think such hassle would improve the game.

If anyone else, not a summoner/spiritualist is still up for it, the offer is on the table!

I think that could be fun. I am working on a Catfolk Antipaladain. I am loving the character so far, and am trying to really throw a great story together. I'll have her up today. In the meantime, here is the preliminary, if you're interested.

Technically, you might be best served to let things a little vague for now, as there is the chance that not both your character and the character she is in love with will get picked. Once the actual players are chosen, you can then work with the others to see who might be interested in such a plot hook. It is an interesting one, I will give you that, and I am sure it will/would provide food for much interaction.

Yes, Calm Stance works fine for that. I think it was meant to be the unchained equivalent of Moment of Clarity anyway.

I think the prestige class still works the way it's supposed to with unchained, but if any conflicts arise, they can be worked through.

Yes, I think that would be fine. It's not like in-fighting among different drow factions is strange or anything. A civil war would just be drow in-fighting on a significantly larger scale.

The Bundy family wouldn't last too long here, I think!

DM, I think the backstory for my character would be of the anti-Cheliaxian tilt. They are a powerful empire of dark intent bordering what goodness remains. What I was referring to before with regards to timeline/location is until we have characters truly selected, it's hard for people to really say where/when they are. After all, if you chose 5 people in 5 different areas, their story timelines probably won't align.

What would you like me to adjust in Tosk's story to make it more manageable in a setting viewpoint? As he's written, I have avoided the types of specifics that would nail the party to a particular area.
