Indeed I am working up!
I'm not too happy with the Frozen Cathedral, but it'll do. I'm not good at portraying elevation so the ramp is kinda wonky looking.
Anyway, I've finished three more maps for Chapter 5;
Frozen Cathedral - 34x19
Runeforge - 52x33
Ravenous Crypts - 30x22

In a couple of weeks my group will be wrapin gup the Giants module and moving on to the Runeforge module, and I will start working on versions of all those maps. Threelite does a great job, often better than I can, but I prefer more detailed maps with more clutter and flavor items on them. So... before long those of you who might have similar tastes to myself should see my maps rolling out.

Misroi, thanks for the writeup of the haunts. I used them in todays game, and while reading them took a while (I didn´t find the time to translate them, and used them in english. My players all know english, but it didn´t make it easier for them), it was an addition that gave the haunts much more depth.
And I took the maps (I think from threelite) and the stained-glass windows that are linked somewhere here as well. Thanks, guys, for making my game so much better for it.
Great stuff, my heartfelt thanks to all contributors.
Also used those haunts and my players really loved them, been using all the maps and stuff from here too, shout outs to everyone (I record them and post them on youtube too and gave shoutouts there).
I do have to seriously wonder as I was looking at other adventure paths and none of them have a community created content thread stickied, why not? This has been more useful than all of the GM reference threads combined!

Well, I had some time, and did this map for the Down Comes the Rain section from Hook Mountain Massacre:
Skull's Crossing: Skull's Watch - 20x20
I stole the idea of the scale from the Riding Bull maps. ;)

Got a few more done. Not sure how I feel about the Iron Cages of Lust or Xin's Stairway (an encounter with no official map, kinda hard to portray overhead view of a mountain... but it'll do I suppose).
Anyway, here they are:
Xin's Stairway - 29x23
The Vault of Greed - 50x34
Iron Cages of Lust - 69x44
Shimmering Veils of Pride - 49x33
As always, Donate a few bucks to my Roll20 Mentor fund! :)

I love all the maps, but at one point I had a list of "Festival Games" and I can't freakin' find it. Archery contest that could be applied to a game of darts in a tavern, tug-of-war, sack race, and so on. Do you think I can *FIND* that thing again? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
If someone did it and posted, or recalls seeing something like that, would you be so kind as to reply here? And if Gr4ys could kindly slip that into the front-post index? Essentially, the festival is a great time to brush up new players (and this sparkling new GM) on Important Checks such as opposed grapple, difficult terrain, "how do I figure out where that damned acid flask actually hit?", opposed bluff and so on. The above are just a few things we don't do very often, but often enough the newb GM (me) and the players could have as a reference and a practical non-combat game in which to brush up on that so we can at least remember to flag the CRB to find them quickly when my Barbarian wife decides to rip that Goblin Commando off his Goblin Dog and beat the mount with his rider. Or the plucky halfling decides to express his opinion by urinating on the Big Evil Guy's boots during the Final Showdown. Does he miss?
I'm just throwing out random stuff here, but the festival is a HUGE opportunity to nail the, "We don't do this often, but when we do it is Really Fun Stuff to know we can do." Hell, having the list with "What The Hell Page in the CRB is this again?" on that list would make a fantastic First Game Hand-out for everyone, especially if we have a memorable festival before Sandpoint gets burnt to the ground.

Romaq I think that THIS might be what you are looking for.
I think, however, that you have some amazing ideas. I would LOVE to see a rework of this encounter to include exactly the type of stuff you are discussing here.
Edit: These were reworked by Delthos and published in Wayfinder 7 with a lovely little picture by great N'Wah! I highly reccomend getting it (its a free download!) if you are going to run RotRL.
Oh and as to having Gr4ys edit the front index... sadly it is impossible. Posts can not be edited once they are older than 30 min. The most recent index of non map goodies was back on page 14. I also indexed all the digital maps on page 18 I think.
RMcD |
Not to mention Gr4ys last post was in 2012, can moderators or admins edit post over 30 minutes old?
Perhaps it would make more sense to have an index off board since you can't edit things, the more I'm looking at the other forums for Adventure Paths the more I realise that the Rise of the Runelords community has clearly produced the most incredible content (and the only one to even need an index of community created content).

Another map for Part 3 of the Hook Mountain Massacre. Almost finished the maps for this part of the adventure.
Skull's Crossing - Encounter with the Ogre Demolition Crew - 20x20

Here to finish off Chapter 5 maps... Halls of Wrath are a little barren, but it gets hard to add in more objects / details with a map that large (it lags so bad in Photoshop!). I probably should've split it up but I figured it'd be nice to have it on one image.
Festering Maze of Sloth - 39x27
Halls of Wrath - 80x129 (rotated so that north is up)
Thanks to Jacenat for $20! Don't let him be the only one, donate here so I can keep my mentor status!

Finally I finished the maps in Chapter 3. These are for the envounters in part five: Harrowing the Hook:
- Hook Mountain Clanhold - full map (72px - 106x68)
This map is huge, so I divided it in two parts for use in a VTT:
- Hook Mountain Clanhold - part 1 of 2 (72px - 53x68)
- Hook Mountain Clanhold - part 1 of 2 (72px - 53x68)
Here is the link to the album where you can download the HD versions of the maps. ;)

I'm not dead! Here's Vekker's Cabin, still working on the environs bit.
Vekker's Cabin - 33x41

Oh my. Excellent work as always GustavoMalek! Thank you!
Thank you, Digital Mystic. I'm anxious to see your next maps. ;)
I'm working on some encounter maps of several of the buildings in Sandpoint. Buildings I plan to cover are: Red Dog Smithy, the Pixie's Kitten, the White Deer. I'll post them as I finish them.
That would be amazing! One of my players have an interest in doing business with the Pixie's Kitten and it would be great to have a map to help in possible encounters.
The idea of making maps for establishments of Sandpoint is really very good. Places like the Garrison or the Town Hall are always visited by the characters and sources of possible encounters.
Even the cemetery need one, since it is the point of one of the first encounters in the campaign.

Threelite, I am seriously looking forward to your Ch. 6 maps... I have always been just ahead of your creation schedule so I used the vanilla .pdf maps (which work, but are not near the quality of your maps).
I am looking forward to the Chapter 6 maps, hopefully my group doesn't push forward too fast so that I will be able to use your excellent maps!

Greetings to all.
I've already asked something similar a while ago, and I'm very grateful on how nice this board is, that said I have another request.
Does anyone has Handouts 2-5, 2-6 and 2-7, without the letters but with the drawings? (blood splatter, sihedron rune and Magnimar Crest) So I can add translated text to it.
Thanks in advance

Not too happy with it but I'm not sure what else I can do. I'm really not good with outdoor areas. Here's the Vekker's Cabin environs, with and without fog.

No map to go off of, but there's an encounter with some giants on the road to Xin Shalast. The encounter's titled Giant Sentinels.

Nice work GustavoMalek and Threelite - many thanks.
I prefer the map without fog, but that is only because I use MapTool so I can add the fog effect myself.
I provided both as I plan to swap between the two after my party inevitably removes the fog using wind spells.
Anyway, I did a quick map of The Lair of the Hidden Beast. The next map may take a while as it's huge (the arena in Xin Shalast).

Thanks Gustavo. I was putting off doing this again for too long. Looks like we are getting pretty close to having at least one version of every official map in the module. Next, perhaps, we could work on maps of various buildings in Sandpoint, like the Theatre, the Cathedral, Turandarok Acadamy, or perhaps some more generic maps that can be used for different random encounters.
threelite |
Thanks Gustavo!
@threelite, I really love your maps! The first set from Chapter 6 are awesome, will be using them when I start this chapter in the next 2 weeks. I look forward to seeing the complete set of them.
Thanks a lot Korav for the kind words and of course the Roll20 donation :)
I am still working on Chapter 6 maps. It has gone way beyond what my party is ready for but I realize other groups are still using my maps, so I'm working on them whenever I can.
I still haven't completed the arena, it's just so huge and somewhat intricate.
Anyway, here's another Chapter 6 map. I'm not sure if I missed anything, just let me know if I did.

Sorry to break the trend on awesome maps, but I'm finally getting around to posting the haunts for Foxglove Manor I'd written up for my game. Enjoy!
The way I intended this to play out is that, after the haunt activates, the PC is given the handout, and reads through it. They then make whatever roll the handout requires, and if they are affected by it, it tells them what will happen next. The intent is to give that PC the opportunity to experience a part of the story for themselves, and then tell the story to the rest of the party - much the way I figure it would play out if this were a movie.
** spoiler omitted **...
These are great and I plan to use them soon in my own game.
However as I was formatting them to use I noticed that the write up for Dance of Ruin is the same as the one above it. Looks like a simple cut & paste error.
Misori, any chance you could share the missing one?
Thanks
JD

In Chapter 4: Fortress of the Stone Giants, Part III, there is a Handout with the writ of entry and access to the Thassilon Library. Well it is in English and the book said that all the scrolls kept by the Black Monk were written in Thassilonian. I then decided to do it by myself.
The first thing I needed was to find a font with Thassilonian Runes. Unfortunately the font provided in this forum has not enouth symbols to simulate a written language. The concept of runes made by Jeff Carlisle foresaw three runic systems: Positive Runes, Neutral and Negative Runes Runes. Besides them there are Sin and Virtue Runes Runes and specific runes for numbers.
Based on that, I created an Open Type Font (OTF) that must still be polished, but already can be used in any word processor. Some of the runes should be used by typing the diacritical accents on the keyboard. I tried to group the Sin and Virtue Runes in less used keys like @, #, $,%, &, *, etc., to let the text be primarily written with Neutral, Positive and Negative Runes.
So here is LINK to download the font.
And here is the Handout 4-1 - Writ of Entrance and Access to the Library of Thassilon

Just for fun I did this handout to use with the scrolls guarded by the Black Monk, in Chapter 4: Fortress of Stone Giant, Part III.

My players are about to reach Black Magga, so I thought I'd make a map for the encounter. Here it is:
Black Magga Encounter with Grid
Scale is 100 pixels to the inch; dimensions are 40 inches by 50 inches.
The terrain corresponds in both shape and scale to the map of Turtleback Ferry in the RotRL Anniversary Edition appendix. The church isn't the same shape, though -- I could have made one, but time was an issue. I also added some high points because I plan on running the flood a bit deeper than written.
It's not the best, but I only had 2 hours to give it. Made with textures from cgtextures, buildings and tree from the Dundjinni forums, and Photoshop witchery.
Note: this is the second time I've done this post. The forums ate the first attempt. >.<;

Has anyone made an expanded list of results for the Thassilonian library under Jorgenfist? I figure my PCs will be eager to research more than just two topics.
I wish I had searched/made for one.. I hand waved other questions with the little I was able to remember only to find the available knowledge of Runeforge few chapters later.
Definitely something someone with spare time should look into making!

Has any of you noble gentlemen or fair ladies solved the issue of making the Thistletop maps "suitable" for Roll 20?
The maps that are listed above are works of art and I love them, but I have not yet cracked how to make them suit the Roll 20 grid.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!
Digital Mystic |
Well, getting any map to work in Roll20 is not that complicated. It can be a little fiddly, but not complicated. Drag and drop the picture onto your map layer, then right click it and go to Advanced >> Is Drawing.
Now you can resize it in any direction, stretching it to fit. This is more useful than you might think. Get one corner of the grid on the map aligned with the top left corner of the grid on Roll20. Now tug it down until all the horizontal grid lines on your map grid line up with the grid lines on Roll20. Then tug the right side of your map to do the same with the vertical lines. Some times your initial line will go out of whack a bit as you stretch the map, but not by much. Just realign the top left corner and adjust until everything is peachy keen.
If the map you are using doesn't have a map grid, you may have to somewhat eyeball it. Often the walls of buildings and whatnot will line up with the grid marks on the official map, so you can use those as reference points. Just line up one, then tug the map until you have the right number of grid squares between your two reference points.
Just tug from the sides and not the corners, or it will resize it all wrong. Often when you drop the map onto the map layer, it resizes it and throws off the aspect ratio because it snaps to grid. If you are having trouble getting it to fit when you stretch it without going through the "Is Drawing" step (which bypasses the snap to grid function) then, most likely, it is a resizing issue and the aspect ratio is blown.
