Thanks very much for the thorough response Sharaya. I suspected it might be the billing address, I moved recently and wasn't sure if the bank had processed the change of address yet. Now I know they have! I'll update the billing address and try again, thanks.
As an aside, I'm a little concerned that the same move might cause problems with receiving my shipment for AP 98, Hell Unleashed and Book of the Damned Vol 1. The move was very short notice (that's military life for you), and those books shipped before I had the new address and have not yet arrived. At this point, I'm not sure if it's just taking a while to get half way across the Pacific, or if there was a mix up with the change of address at the post office. Either way, more the USPS's problem than yours, thanks for the help!
I must have missed that, thanks for informing me. Unfortunately, that still leaves the issue of not being able to confirm my order in the online store, sale or no.
I tried to order the Inner Sea Races pdf at 4 PM on September 30th, but the store wouldn't confirm my order. I could always try to order again later, but then I wouldn't be able to get the benefit of the September pdf sale. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Katina, thanks for getting that taken care of so promptly for me, and thanks for explaining the issue! Its always easier to accept a delay when you know what's causing it. Paizo is known for great customer service, and this is just one more example of why that is. Thanks a ton!
I ordered the Rise of the Runelords Deluxe Collector's Edition on April 30th. I saw that it was added to my sidecart, but wanted it sooner than July (which is when my next subscription order comes in) so I clicked the button to have it delivered as soon as possible. It's now been about 3 weeks, several days past the longest estimated time it should have arrived (which would have been this past monday, May 18th. The order doesn't say its been shipped yet. It does say, however, that its been moved to Order 3553583, which doesn't appear to have been completed yet, and isn't showing any way to complete it.
Mostly, I'm just confused about the status of my order, and would like to know when I can expect it to arrive. Thank you, and sorry to raise a fuss over it!
I'm running Rise of the Runelords, and one of my PCs has backstory that involves being on the run from the Hellknights. After confronting the Skinsaw cult in the Seven's Sawmill, the party decided to turn the surviving cultists over to the Hellknights, rather than the local government, because after discovering Justice Ironbriar's involvement, they weren't sure how extensively Magnimar's government was involved. The player with history with the Hellknights stayed in their rooms in town to avoid being noticed. Problem is, other party members weren't aware of this history, and to prove their legitimacy, presented a Charter from Sandpoint's government to the Maralictor they spoke to, which had all of the party members' names on it. Now I plan to have a subplot where Hellknights are hounding the party to try and capture this PC.
So, I started researching Hellknights, and when I was looking at the information presented on them in AP #27 and #28, from Council of Thieves, I found the original version of the Hellknight prestige class. I quite like the old version of the class, particularly the organization into 3 Paths and the ability to fall, and I intend to insert the Merciless and Judgement class features back into the newer version, at levels 4 and 8, when building my NPCs. I also plan to add the capacity to lose their powers if they fail to face the Reckoning, or for changing alignment or being cast out.
My question is, why was it changed? Was it balance related, or just standardizing how prestige classes worked, or some other reason?
Whatever the reason, I love the campaign (as do my players) and am really enjoying running it for them. One of them (my wife) told me that no other campaign she's ever played in has brought out such genuine emotion in her. Thanks for an awesome campaign!
I'm working on some encounter maps of several of the buildings in Sandpoint. Buildings I plan to cover are: Red Dog Smithy, the Pixie's Kitten, the White Deer. I'll post them as I finish them.
5 people marked this as FAQ candidate.
1 person marked this as a favorite.
The Holy Guide archetype for paladins, printed in the ACG, states that it gains a bonus Teamwork feat at 5th level, which it can spend a use of Smite Evil to grant to its allies. In exchange, it gives up the Mercy gained at 5th level.
Just one problem. Paladins don't get a Mercy at 5th level. As written, the Holy Guide is either completely unusable, or gains that bonus teamwork feat for nothing (I'm not sure how that would be ruled, if you were going strictly by RAW. Can someone straighten me out on that?).
I'm fairly sure that every reference to 5th level in that class feature should say 6th level, but it would be nice to have that confirmed. FAQ this post if you agree.
As an aside, if the fix ends up being what I think it is, then that's very disappointing to me, because that means it can't be combined with Divine Hunter, which seems like a very flavorful combination to me (especially for Paladins of Erastil). Not a huge deal, but certainly something that I wish were different.
I have my own rendition of Nualia's journal. The version already posted is great, but there's some date errors (for example having the harvest during Gozran, which is in spring, or having the miscarriage of her baby happen after chopper's rampage, when the rampage should be during the coma she falls into after the miscarriage) and it stops with the miscarriage, not going into anything that happened after that.
So I took the first page of that version, changed a couple of the dates on it, and then took the Journal text from this wiki page http://wiki.interi.org/Nualia_Tobyn. I edited that text as well, and then added some entries describing how she recruits Tsuto, Orik, Lyrie, and Bruthazmus.
Anyway, what follows is the six pages of my attempt.
P.S. Thank you all so much for all this work. It's come in really handy running this on Roll20. I hope that people can get some use out of my small contribution.
I'll second the maps in the PDF being better than the ones in the Interactive Maps. I'm running this campaign on roll20, and found that just copying the map from the pdf for each encounter works fine, none of the room numbers or stair arrows get copied with the image. It sometimes takes some finessing to make the map fit the grid that roll20 provides though, and sometimes it just doesn't work at all. Luckily, you can always just turn that grid off and use the one on the map.
Ok, so first, some background information. Last night my WotR group was playing through the Keep of Drezen, and reached Staunton Vhane. Staunton attacked us from the rear while we were otherwise engaged, taking our Oracle and Archery Style Ranger by surprise, unprotected. Vhane was able to drop our Oracle into negatives with a full attack, so I (a Paladin) and our Inquisitor moved to help the Ranger while our Cleric and Druid mopped up the encounter we had been on. I was already low on hp, and Vhane dropped me with a full attack as well when his turn came up again.
It had been a running joke that my character had a luxurious golden beard that we called the "Beard of Justice", so when I went down, the GM couldn't help joking that my beard had been shorn off by Staunton's attack. At this point, the GM started writing verses describing each round as it went by, until the end of the encounter. After some editing, what follows was the result! Enjoy!

First of all, I love the class. Over-all, I think it gets very close to what it needs to be. However, I have a few issues. These have all been addressed by others, but I feel like the more people bring them up, the more likely the designers will pay attention.
1. The only good save being Reflex is a problem. I can see good arguments for either Fort or Will, but it needs to get one of them.
2. The limitation to light or one-handed piercing weapons feels very restrictive. Maybe adjust this to allow it's features to work with slashing weapons as well?
3. Finesse. It really should get Weapon Finesse (the feat) for free at 1st level. Maybe Swashbuckler Finesse at 2nd level can expand the list of finessable weapons to include the rest of the weapons that the other class features work with and give the bonuses to CMD.
4. It really needs to be able to support other swashbuckling styles, like TWF and Weapon and Buckler. Maybe adjust precise strike so that it still works if you only have a light weapon or buckler in your off hand?
