GM Mazra |

@Flynn - Yeah. I noticed that, but I was going to give it to you in the last Round anyway. If the darkness was delayed a round it would have not been as helpful. It is all about the story more than being precise with game mechanics. You can take actions in this Round.
Waiting on Severo's actions as well, then I will recap the round.

Flynn Elric |

Dont know for certain whats coming but that should hold them off, thats not ordinary darkness. He keeps firing arrow after arrow
attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
rapid attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage2: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Severo Lione |

I did. He said his player was a fool and thought out a post, then forgot to actually make it. But more laconically and orc-like.
Severo roars in a challenge to the ogre still standing as his wounds begin to heal over in a golden light almost immediately. As he continues to exchange blows with the monstrosity, it becomes clear he doesn't aim to kill.
First action LoH, both swings non-lethal.
Heal thy self: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5) + 6 = 14
Att 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
Dam: 2d4 + 19 ⇒ (4, 4) + 19 = 27
Att 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Dam: 2d4 + 19 ⇒ (2, 4) + 19 = 25
Why non-lethal? I'm just curious.
Oh, thats an RP thing I have going on with him. You can ask him about it. Short version is he prefers not to kill if he doesn't have to.
EDIT: I'm glad you brought it up though, because it just hit me that I didn't take the Blade of Mercy trait I planned on. For some reason, I have Magical Knack on. I meant to take it so non-lethal damage would be a good idea. Furthermore, it didn't have that 3.5 label on it at the time. GM, can I swap that trait in for Magical Knack?
GM Mazra |

I did. He said his player was a fool and thought out a post, then forgot to actually make it. But more laconically and orc-like.
LOL! Welcome back. And yes, you can swap your trait as you intended.
Round Three to Start
Flynn turns and fires an arrow at a third Kreeg that appeared ahead of the darkness below. The first arrow strikes true, but the second one glances off the Kreeg's Hide Armor.
Severo swiftly heals thy self, then steps over the unconscious Ogre to get at the third one.
Severo is not using a Reach weapon and would need to move over the fallen Ogre to get to the third one.
The Kreeg takes an opportunity to attack with its wicked hook-like weapon as Severo must carefully negotiate the uneven terrain ,which is the body of the fallen Ogre.
Kreeg 3 +1 ogre hook: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 362d8 + 13 ⇒ (3, 3) + 13 = 19
Kreeg 3 +1 ogre hook confirm crit: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 334d8 + 26 ⇒ (3, 2, 7, 7) + 26 = 45
The Kreeg's hook catches the Half-Orc Paladin in a critical juncture between folds in his armor.
Ouch! Severo takes a massive 64 points of damage. It is a good thing you healed prior to advancing against this third Kreeg. I think this is the first time I have rolled a crit with one of the Kreeg Ogres. Nasty!
Severo continues with his attack striking with a non-lethal blow.
Brandark engages the Kreeg and strikes with his trust axe dealing a lethal hack.
Elektra watches the situation.
Devora, seeing Severo severely wounded by the Kreeg, tries for a critical strike with one of her magic arrows. It staggers the big ugly creature, but does not cause it to fall.
Devora's shortbow + PBS+DA+Inspired+Prayer+1Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 331d6 + 7 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 13
Flynn 20 (AC20 47/47)
Severo 22 (AC23 4/76)
Brandark 20 (AC21/20 35/61)
Elektra 18 (AC13 42/42)
Stone 8 (AC22 68/68)
Devora 7 (AC19 44,44)
Kreeg Ogres 7 (AC21 D,-7,5/104)
Stone's Round Three
The Kreeg has only five hit points remaining. I know Stone said he was holding his action until after the fighters. What does he do? The Kreeg Ogre would go last in the Round.

![]() |

Stone scoops up his crossbow loads and fires a quick shot at the remaining Kreeg.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 = 161d8 ⇒ 5
Stone says some very unpriestly things.

Ogres |

After Stone's bolt glances off the the last Ogre's armor, it begins to panic and withdraws from combat running down the stairs into a darkness that is beyond natural. The party hears the Ogre scrape walls, then it begins to yell. The yell is loud to begin with, but gets fainter and fainter until the party hears a distant thud sound. All is then very quiet.
The party finds itself alone for the time.
What does the party do next? Going out of Round mode.

Severo Lione |

Welp, that's what I'm here for. Sponging attacks that would have killed everybody else.
Severo tears away from the massive hook embedded in his armor (and flesh) and presses his assault on the ogre.
LoH: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 6 = 10
Crash: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Dam: 2d4 + 19 ⇒ (4, 1) + 19 = 24
Bash: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Dam: 2d4 + 19 ⇒ (4, 3) + 19 = 26
Confirm bad party game?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Nope.

Stone will move over to Severo. That looked to be a nasty hit. I recommend moving out of the way next time.Stone will say with a smile.
Then heals him with a cure crit.
burning dimensional anchor: 4d8 + 8 + 13 ⇒ (7, 5, 3, 4) + 8 + 13 = 40
cure mod: 2d8 + 8 + 8 ⇒ (7, 2) + 8 + 8 = 25
Channel Energy: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 2) = 12
He will then turn to Brandark You look a bit beat up to.
Cure light wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Cure light wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Okay now what?

Flynn Elric |

We prepare and wait for my spell to end.. It's darkness that only special light can disperse, either that or wait a bit.

Is that anchor affecting Severo? I don't know what that is.
"Next time, I recommend you aim." For all the bleeding he was just doing, Severo doesn't seem to mind it much.
He looks at down the path the ogre fled.
"The ogre has fallen. It is unlikely they will come to us."

Flynn Elric |

Flynn mutters something in elven and dispels the orb of darkness forgot i could do that

![]() |

Stone searches the bodies while people are making up their minds with a detect Magic. perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
After which he will say Well I guess we're not getting any healthier shall we head down?

GM Mazra |

The Kreeg Ogre's armor are all +1 Hide, and their Ogre Hooks are all +1 as well. On one of the Ogres you find in a large pouch mostly filled with worthless rocks a Citrine (50 gp), a large piece of Pyrite (13 gp), and a piece of raw Turquoise (13 gp). The other Ogre had a sack with 120 gold pieces in it.

Flynn Elric |

No thanks, i can handle it He runs to scout ahead
stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33

GM Mazra |

At the bottom of the first flight of giant-sized stairs and to the right, is a deep pit hewn from hard stone. The shaft descends into soot and darkness. The stale reek of decay wafts up from the depths below.
You can't really see the now dead Kreeg Ogre at the bottom, but it is easy to put two and two together to realize that the Ogre fell into this shaft.
Flynn is able to look down the next flight of stairs. At the bottom are two more Kreeg Ogres and a Hill Giant.
Does Flynn try to maneuver around them? And if so, which way? The cavern complex goes to the left or right at this point. Map updated!

Flynn Elric |

Flynn heads back to alert the others of whats ahead, The ogre that ran fell into a shaft ahead, probably dead. there are two more Kreeg Ogre and a hill Giant ahead at the bottom of some steps

Brandark Plainswalker |

Is there a way by, or do we have to go through ?

Brandark Plainswalker |

If the RNG didn't hate me, I would try the dwarven dive bomb. . . AKA the Gutbuster dive. :)

GM Mazra |

The Giants are ready. I set the party up at the top of the stairs.
Elektra's Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Flynn's Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Devora's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Stone's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Brandark's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Severo's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Kreeg Ogre's Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Kreeg Ogres 9 (AC21 104,104/104
Flynn 7 (AC20 47/47)

Devora Heidmarch |

Devora will stop and take aim at the fourth Kreeg Ogre drawing out one of her magic arrows.
+2 Darkwood Shortbow, +1 Arrow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 291d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
She sticks the big ugly creature with an arrow.
She is saving her remaining four rounds of Inspire Courage for if the party needs the extra boost. She also may shift her position as her move action depending on how the party moves.

Flynn Elric |

Flynn attack the Giant and activates Bane, letting several shots off with his Longbow
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + (6, 4) + 5 = 21
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + (3, 1) + 5 = 13

Severo Lione |

I moved Severo as far as I think he can go with a move action, lemme know if wrong. Attacking nearest ogre.
Bow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Dam: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Severo advances partway, placing himself between the ogres and the party with a bowshot.

GM Mazra |

Electra quickly moves in range and casts glitterdust.
DC 19 Will resist
Glitterdust has a good range, so that is not the issue. It however only has a 10 foot radius spread. I created a yellow ten foot circle for Elektra to place her spell. Every square is ten feet across. It looks like you could affect any two of the three giant types.
After Brandark post, I will recap the first Round.

Brandark Plainswalker |

Brandark moves up slightly and calls out in a growl.
Severo, I will be shortly, as these stubby legs only carry me so fast.
Standard=Downgrade to move, Move=activate Tactician Ability, Swift=None.
Due to not being able to reach even with a charge, I am Paired Opportunist. 7/7 rounds
Paired Opportunist
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +4 circumstance bonus on attacks of opportunity against creatures that you both threaten.
Enemies that provoke attacks of opportunity from your ally also provoke attacks of opportunity from you so long as you threaten them (even if the situation or an ability would normally deny you the attack of opportunity). This does not allow you to take more than one attack of opportunity against a creature for a given action.

GM Mazra |

Round One
Stone waits on the fighters. (Initiative shifted.)
Elektra will cast Glitterdust on the fourth Kreeg Ogre and the Hill Giant. The Hill Giant becomes blinded.
Devora fires an arrow. It sticks into the fourth Kreeg.
Brandark moves down the giant-sized set of stairs.
Stone is behind him.
Severo moves down the stairs as well. He stops to fire a bow shot. It glances off the Ogres magical Hide Armor.
The fourth Kreeg steps up and launches a pair of javelins at the approaching Dwarf. Both sail over Brandark's head missing everything.
Kreeg 4 Javelin 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 111d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Kreeg 4 Javelin 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
A fifth Kreeg steps in behind the fourth and launches a pair of javelins as well. The first one finds its target, as the second one sailed wide of the mark.
Kreeg 5 Javelin 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Kreeg 5 Javelin 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Brandark takes 13 points of damage.
Flynn fires a pair of arrows at the lead Kreeg. Both stick the giant humanoid with a squishy sound that echoes up the stairs.
The Hill Giant moves out of the glitterdust cloud rubbing his eyes with a whiny child-like sound.
Elektra 18 (AC13 42/42)
Devora 18 (AC19 44,44)
Brandark 16 (AC21/20 43/61)
Stone 24 (AC22 68/68) shifted
Severo 16 (AC23 76/76)
Kreeg Ogres 9 (AC21 56,104/104
Flynn 7 (AC20 47/47)
Hill Giant 4 (AC21 85/85)
Round Two
Everybody is up!

Brandark Plainswalker |

Just to be clear, all allies gain the feat paired opportunists. I forgot to make that clear in my post.

Severo Lione |

Severo continues to advance with his bow in hand. He drops it as he closes in with the ogres. Firing the bow then dropping the bow after firing.
More bow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Dam: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Devora Heidmarch |

Devora decides it is time to Inspire some Courage. She begins to tell again the deeds of our adventurous heroes. She moves up some more.
Everyone gets a +2 To Hit and To Damage. I previously miscalculated the number Devora used for the day. This is the sixth round of sixteen rounds she has available. Severo will get the +2 to hit and damage. This will be enough to for his attack to hit the Ogre.

Brandark Plainswalker |

Inspired by the song, Brandark gives a Bull throated bellow as he Charges into the fray.
attack 4: 1d20 + 8 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 2 - 3 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 2 - 3 + 3 = 26
BAB, STR. Charge, Magic, Inspire, Power, Focus
damage: 1d10 + 7 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 9 + 1 + 2 = 24
2H STR, Power, Magic, Inspire
Right now, I really wish I had my critter eating attack horse. :). Oh well, I can only work with what I got.
