True, I think Auchs would likely have required close watching and probably eventually snap anyway and hurt or kill someone, thus forcing us to execute him anyway. But I still think the it was the "good and right" choice to try. We shall just have to remember that when the PCs are away, the NPCs will play. Or maybe murder someone. >_<

But being relieved we have one less burden is definitely more chaotic than evil, anyway. Evil would look more like, oh I don't know.... perforating an unconscious prisoner, or something like that. Fortunately, Sera doesn't know anything about such unpleasantness. =P

Something that we shouldn't be mad at all about, grats to us on 2000 posts. Hell of a haul so far, I'd like to thank you guys for being such awesome players. I'm loving the pace and progress we have, and hope you guys are enjoying the story as much as I am :D

Speaking for myself, I'm having entirely too much fun! I really enjoy the game and like our party dynamic and mutual/individual goals. I've even bookmarked an artist on deviantART that I intend to eventually commission for a party portrait! ^_^

I'll be sure to get everyone's input on their character's appearance before I do that, but I'm really looking forward to it. I have an image file with all manner of reference images that just keeps growing bigger and bigger. Like I said, entirely too much fun! XD

For the record, this is a character based blow-up. I know Pretty thought Bara's acceptance of our offer was vague, but she actually said, "You... have my blade." That is often said as a simple oath of fealty and that is how Sera took it, so she sort of views Bara as her own follower as opposed to just another member of the party. Thus she feels responsible for her now.

And while I did have Sera making small efforts to conceal her scales at first, she won't be going as far as using makeup to cover them... at least not for these people. She might be more careful when we go visit the swordlords or enter heavily populated areas. But she wants those closest to her to understand what she is and not be afraid, so she's actually gauging reactions at this point.

Dang Jegred, that's rough. Hope you're on the good stuff and feeling ok, and hopefully you recover quickly. Many of my coworkers are organ donors riders and they all have horror stories about bad wrecks. Don't sweat logging in, I'll bot you as needed.

I'm assuming you rest for the evening and then set out to finish your exploration. Where are you heading first? I'll move the timeline forward tonight after I hear some consensus. If you let me know your path ahead of time I can move the game along several hexes at a time if there's no combat. We're very close to wrapping up with this book and making with the kingdom building stuff :D

I went ahead and found the map that Ramage had outlined the chartered area for us before.

I suggest going sort of counter-clockwise from Oleg's and "frame in" our territory on the west side first. We have to remember to go carefully and watch for that field of traps. I figured that would be our most worrisome threat that we know about thus far.

Sorry for the delay guys, I've been up for 24 hours now between work, school, and supervising window installation on my house.

Wanted to go over what we have ordered for our kobold friends, I was thinking things like halfling sized metal tools for farming and crafting, some how-to books on farming and irrigation(since they are river adjacent), as well as pottery making(for food storage), and construction and engineering for Mikmek. Possibly something lighter as well like poetry, maybe some Erastillian Hymns?

What other good utility type things would be good to offer up? Fabric like canvas or denim? I don't want to go down the "offer the savages beads and firewater" line of thinking, but since this is a big first trade, I thought we'd want to come up with a fair variety.

So here's a good question, is there a polite way to ask someone if they deal sneak attacks? I realized we've never seen Bara's stats and I wasn't sure if she was just an assassin by trade or if she has class levels in assassin. I only ask because I can use the same vanish tactics with Bara as I have done with Pretty to give her a sneak attack if she gets one.

For the record, Bara is a 4th level ranger. No sneak attacking nor assassin levels.

You earn XP by overcoming encounters. Forcing a defeated foe to flee clearly counts as beating it, and you earn full XP. Likewise, killing helpless foes yields no XP. There's a Knights of the Dinner Table comic where one of the players starts an owlbear breeding operation and kills mature ones in a cage with a spear to harvest them for XP. In a case like that, I'd rule a situation with no threat yields no xp.
