"Oohhh...a bacon infused ale...there's a great idea! Tomorrow we should go see the brewer and talk to him about it!" the young man says enthusiastically.

"Owlbears? Hate those nasty buggers! You might have heard about how I have a temper problem, but those things are angrier on a good day than anything I've ever met!
Now, bacon on the other hand, excellent stuff. Best bacon I ever had came from this boar. So, this boar wasn't just any boar. He'd been....

* Gellumniq lets his gaze catch the eyes of the large human talking about boar bacon*
* points to the Warthog hide armor that I am currently wearingI see I am not the only pork lover here eh? This guy here was too gamey... the meat spoiled before I could cook any of it. Got me a nice set of hide though!

Well with or without swords at our sides, this statement is the only thing holding me back: "No trouble in my town and no magick in public."

I guess the bit where he smacked the militia guy like a ragdoll kinda got under Nee's collar. Plus she is impetuous. ;)
I'm thinking this is one of those old-skool events where we are hopelessly outmatched by a monster, maybe with class levels...

Am I the only one that finds it odd that, being a neutral follower of a decidedly chaotic evil deity, Ed is one of the few not wanting to engage in meaningless slaughter?
I mean, the bull just punched and kicked a guy who stood up to challenge him as his enemy. I don't exactly see the villainy here.

I don't follow any deciedly evil diety? in fact I am relgious neutral

Eh, call me crazy*, but Nee's just looking to adventure Ed, and the Barony isn't known for being friendly. The minotaur is being political and aggressive in a region opposed to the existence of the insignia he wears. Fort Doom?
And Ed's a foreigner, likely with an amount of pragmatic nomadaptability. ;)
The only thing I find strange is the restriction that monks need to be lawful, but this is Core only with no deviation so far, so I'll keep schtumm. If I had my way I'd be Chaotic Good. ;)
* oh, that's right, you already did. ;)

Teraldan is actually trying to defuse the situation - no slaughter for me thank you ;)
| Aviari Kyras |
Aviari doesn't want a fight. She doesn't want to even get close to the minotaur unless she has a whole group supporting her, which is what she is trying to get together now. ~_^
While she hopes the situation is defused, she has little confidence that such attempts will succeed. The minotaur has been pretty clear about his violent intent. The guard he struck on the head went straight down- probably unconscious. Aviari tries to think several steps ahead in any event- how she survived in the Wilds for so many years. ^_^
As to the worry about harming the poor, innocent minotaur, ~_^ am I the only one who finds it odd that so many people are hesitant to fight the monster in the room, as if that would be "meaningless slaughter," when there's already someone laying on the floor with a head wound, possibly bleeding out?
| Ederet |
The monster? So says a wild demi-human. ;P
To Ed he just appears to be a drunkard that challenged another drunkard to a bar fight and won. He's probably a little surprised the other patrons didn't go back to drinking.
Then again, he is a foreigner and doesn't really understand the sides here.

You're comparing a pretty half-elf woman with a bellowing bull-headed man? ;b
I see where you're coming from, and actually, I read your early post as a Cretian's rationalization for the Minotaur's aggression. ~_^
Whether or not she has seen a minotaur before, to Aviari the bull-headed man just looks like a bigger and badder version of the bug bears and goblins she's had to deal with during her many travels through the North Eastern wilds. And they're always bad news!
In her earlier life, she would flee from a potential foe this strong looking, but she has never been in a room with 15 fellow adventurers, plus any guards, and the guys doing the gladiator demos. She is fairly excited about the opportunity of maybe not having to run away from this big mean bully. ;D

Haven't decided the split of the groups yet--obviously rogues, wizards, clerics and druids will be split up. Hope to wrap up intro to the villainy of the Black Baron and introduction to the Adventurers Guild by Friday. Assignment to your teams will occur at that time. Great RP posts, even if you are not violating the law by doing the only thing you can do that is useful in a fight (especially mages).
Next update 6-7PM Eastern

I just reread some posts, and now I wonder who that voice from the back of the crowd was, the one cheering for the black baron. Blended in with the crowd again now I suppose, since no one actively looked for that person at the time.

Chainmail/Tribute: I am going to withdraw from this game. You run too many cool games that get me excited to play...that is until I remember that I don't like PbP gaming. I think it is better to get out now before it really takes off and the groups get formed.
I'm confident this will be a pretty neat campaign and hope everyone has a blast. Good luck all!

Hope the intro wasn't too long. I have tried to balance the extremes of cut scenes with no interaction with unstructured RP over the years. This is the balance I have settled on.
Any future issues for the entire group can be discussed here. You all have your own team discussion threads now!!
Note: Once the team leader picks a mission, it will disappear from the other teams list.

Three mission in the gameplay:
The Merchant Clifton Caldwell has purchased an old Castle, Antilles Castle, five miles from Threshold. Evicting the squatters will make Caldwell more favorable to the Duke.
A renegade cleric named Elwyn has been organizing orcs three days ride to the east. Stopping him will make the local clergy more loyal to the Duke.
An elvish Merchant named Sindar needs a package delivered to his partner far to the north. This will build good will for the Feather with his elvish kin

You're going to make this inactive, right? So it keeps our Campaign tab cleaner? Thanks!
