Furiel |
I think I already have the shimmering cloak. I assumed we lose the druid's magic, but the big ticket items we were probably going to sell.
With UMD and a monster charisma, Furiel was going to be able to use the staff eventually. So, we have been somewhat self sacrificing in that we took items that we could use. The obvious one shot force beads at 3K a pop anyone can use, but do not know if they can't be sold for more beneficial items. The big ticket ioun stone is definitely worth more in wholesale gold IMHO.
DM Bloodgargler |
Dolgrym, Kane, and Sonechka were only here briefly... they know the direction in which the majority went (further upriver), but do not have a handle on the other tracks leading out.
Though those "main tracks" lead roughly in the direction of the large lizardfolk camp, it was the manticore taking you off course which led you directly into danger.

Behind concealment south of the river.

Regarding Loot... anything you have said you would like to claim which has not yet been contested, you may add to your sheet.
Ta'de-win took only her armor, sickle, and staff.
DM Bloodgargler |
So that leaves these items to discuss
Rod of Threatening Illusions (Dolgrym and Sonechka both have shown interest)
Wand of Pyrotechnics? (I think that is the wand listed as unidentified)
Pearl of Power
there is also a campfire bead as a minor item.
EDIT: nvm Furiel has the pyrotechnics wand... I will search through the thread and see if there is another wand still left to ID.
Sonechka Alkaeva |
If illusions are Dolgrym's schtick, he can have the Rod. I was going to pair it with the headband that gives free Ghost Sound; the metamagic feat description specifically says you can threaten with Ghost Sound + Threatening Illusion. I thought it was a nice trick. But illusions aren't Sonechka's focus, so giving it to somebody who uses them more makes sense.
Pyrotechnics is cool, but I wouldn't put it high up on Sonya's list of wants.
The Pearl of Power should probably go to Dolgrym, since he can get better use out of it than Sonya.
As for Ta's stuff, Sonya would be interested in the Eagle Cape and the Verdant Vine bracelet.
Is the Spider Clasp (line 92) magical but unidentified?
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
Take the staff...Dlgrym isn't really an illusion guy either.
I think I'd prefer the wand of Pyrotechnics, and see if I could figure out a neat use or two for it.
The Pearl of power would be fine for me...everyone loves those!
Sonechka Alkaeva |
Hmm. DM, what do you say to using Hexes while in Beast Shape? They're not spells, so she doesn't need any spell components to use them. I'm thinking about using her fancy new Eagle Cape to fly around and throw hexes at people.
DM Bloodgargler |
Actually, if you don't mind lets wait on the eagle cape and bracers...
but yes, I believe you should be able to use hexes in Beast Shape.
for this encounter
Dolgrym has the pearl
Kane has the ring of jumping
Sonechka the armor, rod, headband and beads
There is no other wand... the one listed is in Furiel's possession.
The item listed as a spider's clasp is a Swarmbane Clasp.
DM Bloodgargler |
They are the worker bees of the Mivoni coven The Festering Lilies (who train orphans and runaways to be spies, thieves, and assassins). The heroes of Stagfall killed their local leader and took in their recent recruits (who were already on the edge of mutiny).
The Magpies are currently on a mission to dig up some dirt on a creepy land owner interested in exchanging land for a title and manor.
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
Dolgrym is on foot. He's too fat for a pony, I think.
Sonechka Alkaeva |
Oh, yeah, I guess I just saw that Norton is riding and assumed we all are. Sonechka doesn't specifically have a horse if no one else does.
It's going to take a hell of a long time to explore an untracked wilderness on foot, though.
DM Bloodgargler |
I don't mind assuming you are riding during exploration.. you could easily have gotten riding horses at Stagfall. I just wanted to make sure no one was riding into combat without a ride skill and/or combat trained horse.
For Reference...
Speed -- Cross plains hex - all other terrains
40feet ----4 hours ---------- 6 hours
30feet ----5 hours ---------- 8 hours
20feet ----8 hours ---------- 12 hours
Speed -- Explore plains -- Forest/Hills -- Swamp/Mountain
40feet ---- 1 day ----------- 1 day --------- 2 days
30feet ---- 1 day ----------- 2 days -------- 3 days
20feet ---- 2 days ---------- 3 days -------- 4 days

To be fair, I don't think Green would've surrendered in the first place. Surrendering kind of says to me 'sure, I'll kneel, if that's what it takes to save my life'.
But Sonya's like that. This probably won't be her last 'kneel before me' moment. ;)
Bregor Rowain |
Well, Green Might surrender to save the lives of friends or people under his care/command, but the whole "Kneel before Zod" would probably push him too far.
Bregor Rowain |
Hmm, according to the map, that would put the Foul king about two squares away from Stagfall, I think he may be a threat pretty soon then.
Guess we need to build that army soon.
what should we focus on next? Exploring and claiming the areas around stagfall, make an army and then take out the Foul king?
Bregor Rowain |
Well, it depends on how it works.
We can travel and explore about one hex a day I believe, and the army is probably going to be part of the kingdom turns which if I understand correctly happens once a month.
Now, if that's correct, building one unit will probably take about a month or so, which means we have the rest of this month, and more or less all of next month to explore and do other things.
Sonechka Alkaeva |
Do we already have a Barracks building? After a quick look at the Mass Combat and Kingsom Building rules, I guess it's not necessary. But IC we might want one for the army to live in. From my read all we have to do is pay the cost and boom, instant army. It's a different step (step 6 in the Edict Phase) from Claiming Hexes (step 2 in the same Phase). Exploring hexes is outside the kingdom building turn cycle.
Also after looking at the rules, I figured I'd point out that maintaining armies is expensive- they cost BP per week, not per month.
Also related to armies, does anyone have ranks in Profession (Soldier)? Any kingdom leader can lead an army, but army leaders can add special abilities to their armies for every 5 ranks they have in Profession (Soldier).
DM Bloodgargler |
No barracks, and no one is 5th level yet for 5 ranks in Profession(soldier). Kesten will have it once you, the PCs reach 6th level.
I have updated the >kingdom building spreadsheet< to include the 2nd month claimed hex, 2 inherited farms, and house (Lurleton Estate's equivalent in game terms in current condition).
I also updated the leadership roles. Ta'de-win (now DMPC) has begun her duties as Marshal, and you will see very little of her.
Akiros has begun spending time among the settlers, and voicing their concerns to those in charge. I put him in councilor role for now.

Two days after the meet with Ahn'gur'frok, (14th of Gozran) the 1st month "private holdings" will be finished... and Treasurer Droman Tornitore will come after Furiel for the 125gp he owes.
You also expect a report from the Magpies on Master Kinsilvi.

(Dolgrym, Kane, and Sonechka)
In this campaign we are using the "Rooms and Teams" of the downtime system for "private holdings"... personal projects.
If you get the chance to look over that section of Ultimate Campaign (also on the PRD), and find something which might interest your character... you can likely work toward it.
I have tabs set for your PCs >here (Downtime)<
which includes your starting capital.
I can fill in details if you prefer to keep it simple, or you are welcome to ignore it completely. It is mostly an opportunity to have something which is yours - not an asset of the kingdom run by party vote.
Bregor Rowain |
Well, according to our agreement with the Magpies, we need to have a standing army, so we had better make sure we have one unit at least as soon as possible.
I was also thinking that for logical reasons, we should build a barrack this turn as well.(Just as you pointed out Sonechka)
And while the army is a drain, according to the agreement, we may never be without a standing army.
