I have a few things filled in... I need to go through the thread to see what else to include.

Good, I vote for exploring F5

Pretty please? With sugar on top?

Ayep.

couple notes I came across reading through gameplay:

Note found with the rat swarm on your way to Bokken's hut. Worth a re-read.

"Greetings Mite Chief of the Brown Shaggies,

I offer a boon to your breeding... they will make strong babies with your shaggies. In return I ask a favor. There are two human settlements within a days walk. Get them to leave.
Again... if any armed biggins come your way, use a token. Write what you see, and speak the name Dovan from Nisroch."

Sal'dor Graenkin Lord of the Bloodband(signed)

-- -- -- -- -- --
Then a personal letter from Sal'dor to Bokken... (with a signature which Green determined was different than the one to the "Brown Shaggies")

Good friend Bokken,

I hope things are well. I have not been by as much in recent weeks, I know. It appears my roaming days are in the past. This Dovan sent by Him (who you met last time I was by) has taken over many of my duties... by His request. Rojeunet is well, and sends her good tidings. She says not to lose faith, old friend, we will be by when we can.

Hatande Erati Mins Urat, Sieche Tilfus Domek Ils... Erati.

You must find a way...
to keep in touch.

Sal'dor

exploration map

there are five hexes through which you have traveled, but not explored.

We've....we've got a LOT of catching up to do.
We should explore the area around the old Sycamore next, to see if we can find any traces of those settlements, probably they are already gone, but maybe not.
AFTER the area around the fort obviously.

----------Loot-------------

I'm deleting the rest of the mundane items that are worth nothing from the sheet, and checking the magical stuff we still have.
I think Furiel rolled a few identify, which have not been accounted for yet.

Weapons:

  • Morningstar +1, maybe we give it to Kesten?
  • Handaxe mw, Kressle 2nd choice
  • Dagger mw
  • Morningstar mw
  • Rapier +1, this could be given to Errol if he stays
  • Sword +1 heartseeker, Akiros?
  • Hammer light +1 Shocking
  • Hammer light +1 Returning, Kressle 1st choice
  • Greathammer +1, earthbreker
  • Greathammer +1, earthbreker
  • Warhammer +1 Feybane

  • Crossbow light mw
  • Crossbow, unidentified

Armor

  • Leaf Armor, if Ta' switches to the living steel breastplate
  • Twist cloth, gnomish +1 AC, give them back to the gnomes?
  • Breastplate mw
  • Studded Leather +1
  • Breastplate +1 Deathless
  • Studded Leather +1 Deathless
  • Heavy shield +1
  • Heavy shield unidentified

Items

  • Cloak +1 resistance +5 cold resistance
  • Clamor Box
  • Bracers of Armor +1
  • Boots of the mire +2 Fort, walk on water, leave no traces
  • Helm stag lord, Green?
  • Ring +10 jumps
  • Boots unidentified
  • Headband unidentified
  • Spider clasp unidentified
  • Ioun stone unidentified
  • Bead unidentified
  • Bead unidentified

Potions/Wands/Staves/Rods

  • Potion cure light wounds
  • Potion disguse self
  • Potion longstrider x5
  • Potion unmarked, unidentified x5
  • Potion Cure moderate wounds x13
  • Wand pyrothechnics
  • Scroll of fly
  • Wand unidentified
  • Rod unidentified

Call your dibs.
I think cure potions can be divided between us, as well as the longstriders. Norton is looking to the 2 shields, that seem much better than his, just wating to know what the second is worth.
Also interested in the clamor box, boots and disguise self potion.

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

I think we should have one armour smith and one weapon smith at least, in time we can focus on equipping our troops/guards with masterwork weapons and armour.
Even a militia will be decent with that kind of gear.
But that is a long term goal.
It's a bit like Neverwinter nights 2 at Crossroad keep, when you begin, the troops have a leather helm, a club and nothing else.
Towards the end they have masterwork long swords, masterwork chainmail and good training.

As for the gear, one of the greathammers (just to have a magic weapon), the deathless Studded leather and the Stag helmet.
That's about it I think.

{HP 32/32 | AC17 T12 FF13 CMD17 | F/R/W 5/3/8 | Init +2 Per +11/13 SM+4} Female Human Druid 3 {Kingdom} {NPCs} {Downtime}

Going through the list.

None of the weapons appeal to me, though that feybane warhammer might be a good idea for someone to keep, just in case. Being +1 and bane means it's +3 for any fey, thus would count as cold iron as far as DR is concerned. Way too good an item if we should encounter any evil fey imo.

Armor. I am switching to the living breastplate. If either shield were wooden, I might be interested, but you get first dibs on those.

Items. I thought Furiel had that cloak listed? The boots of the Mire and the ring of jumping, someone should keep those (nine hells, I'd take 'em if no one else wants em, lol). Lots of unidentified stuff there though. I suppose I could see selling the ring if we had an opportunity to. It is a 10,000gp item. I'm just not certain how we would go about doing that right now.

Pots and stuff. Once again I thought Furiel had the wand of pyrotechnics. I like the idea of dividing up the cure potions. I think Furiel is the only one who can use the Fly scroll. Probably divide up the longstrider potions between us too. Still stuff to identify.

Anything else I'm good with selling.

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

If we want to sell things, we may need to contact Smedley (or what his name was) to sell the items for us in Restov.
Once Stagsfall becomes big enough, we can simply sell them there.
But it will take awhile until it reaches a respectable gp limit.

Hmmm, don't actually HAVE spellcraft, someone else will have to help Furiel identify it seems.

I do, but mostly in a maybe I'll have a chance at identifying items. Here's some rolls.

Crossbow, unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Heavy shield unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Boots unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Headband unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Spider clasp unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Ioun stone unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Bead unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Bead unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Potion unmarked, unidentified x5: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Wand unidentified: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Rod unidentified : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Mercik is attached to using a battleaxe, so he'll pass on the weapons. He would like the +1 Deathless breastplate, and Merick's magic item slots are all currently open, so he wouldn't turn down those bracers or perhaps other things once they've been identified.

+1 Huntsman Crossbow

Stable Boots of the Enduring March (stable = +5 to balance checks in addition to Enduring March properties.) 2000g/4000g

Mashloch's Headband - headband made of Korred hair which wriggles when worn. Cast Ghost Sound at will. +2 Insight bonus to checks made to disbelieve illusions. 1500g/3000g

Ioun Stone - Cracked Gamboge Nodule ... grants immunity to snake venom.

(5) CL3 Keep Watch potions (affect imbiber only)

the rest (except your roll for the heavy shield), will add +2 to Furiel's next attempt on the remaining six items

I have a couple things to work on, but pretty much ready for you to resume exploration. I will post within the hour.

starting with this hex I hope? then F,5 right?

Just realized I missed Furiel's first rolls... I will add Ta'de-win's +2s to those rolls.

Assigned the requested items, don't forget to modify your sheet

+1 Heavy Shield of Bashing is it for now.

I'll let you take 20 for one magic item/day starting today in game. Pick which one you are studying each day, and I will tell you what it is (if taking 20 is enough to ID it)

@GM Just because we have a vegetarian fundamentalist between us : ) can you specify if the shields we have found are wooden or steel

Hey now, all because I'm a druid doesn't mean I can't eat meat! And a shield made out of meat reall wouldn't be that effective, now would it.

EDIT: Also I agree on the rod.

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

Not a shield no, but Deadpool once fought quite well in a meat suit.
Then again, it's crazy awesome Deadpool, might not work if we try it.

Alright, it's done.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel scraft @ +9 to scraft: 6d20 ⇒ (6, 17, 14, 10, 8, 18) = 73

Mill was a good plan

Like 1 castle 2 foundry 3 Smith 4 mill

Furiel has cloak and Bracers (they stack with no armor. Perfect for monk but Alice is gone)

the shields are steel. I will try to remember to specify, but if I don't... it is usually steel.

day one...
Lesser rod of Lingering can affect area spells of 3rd level and lower. 3 spells/day

You may cause an instantaneous spell that affects an area to persist until the beginning of your next turn. Those already in the area suffer no additional harm, but other creatures or objects entering the area are subject to its effects. A lingering spell with a visual manifestation obscures vision, providing concealment (20% miss chance) beyond 5 feet and total concealment (50% miss chance) beyond 20 feet.

effective Level Increase: +1

(I will allow the caster control over the secondary effect... whether a lingering spell with a visual manifestation provides concealment as in description in the area of effect or not.)

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Furiel looks at the rod and shouts "Jackpot"

Wow, lingering fireball, burning hands and color spray. Sweet.

Sorry... pretty sloppy of me. I need some sort of continuity check routine before I post.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

I understand, I looked half an hour just to find the post where I proposed that.
It was in discussion, not in game play.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

Probably just a silly question, but I was looking at the map and wandered: in which direction flow all those rivers?

Starting on the assumption that a river doesn't split and a lake should have one outlet only I bet that Thorne, Shrike (north part) and Skunk are going into the Tuskwater Lake. Now, since there is a Shrike river also at the far south of the lake, that should be the outlet, with Murque and Gudrin again immissaries of the lake, The Shrike then bends south and looks for the sea and the little Sellen runs into the shrike.

Is my analysis correct?

You know, we might have different ideas of what exactly to do and so on, and maybe different ideas of what is most important, or how to go about things...
But we are at least all pulling in the same direction, and that’s a relief, party squabble has been the ruin of more than one group that showed promise.
Here we have a bunch of strong individuals united in common cause at least.

Looks like Furiel's taking the rod. I assume Norton's going for the shield?

For the potions, divide 'em up 1 each? I could see them useful for Furiel if he can't afford to sleep during an 8 hour rest, or for me or Green while on watch.

Headband to lowest will save (without a headband slot item), ioun stone to lowest fort save in group? Both are circumstantial items.

Looks like this is what's left to identify:

Spider clasp unidentified
Bead unidentified
Bead unidentified
Wand unidentified

My opinion is wand next.

Thoughts?

The North Shrike flows from the northeast, through Restov, along South Rostland Road, and veers south of the road where you see it on the top left of the map.

Before Tuskwater and Candlemere Lake came about it was just the Shrike River. (See the river's width connecting Tuskwater and Candlemere?)

>river flows<

number of arrows shows speed of river... the Shrike as is, is not a good river highway due to rapids, and short waterfalls.

You have been a great party for me. You have a great chemistry in tone.... not dry "fantasy english", and not cartoonish. No moody "I sit in the darkest corner and sharpen my daggers" character...

The first post in discussion is dated Dec 17th 2011, so nearly 2 years that we play together.

It took us nearly 1.5 yrs to finish the first chapter, the funny thing is that is the same speed for my table top group : )

Male Human (Ulfen) Skald Lvl 1 HP 10/10 | AC:16 | T:14 | FF:13 | CMB: +5 | CMD:15 | Fort:+2| Ref:+4 | Will:+1| Init:+2 | Perc: +3 | Speed 30 | Raging song 6/6 |

Heh, I once played a character that spoke exclusively in high-minded noble prose.
Let's just say that all of his lines where about three times longer than they needed to be, filled with flowery phrases and poetry.

He would have been impossible to play table top, you needed time to construct sentences like he used, so he was perfect for PbP.

I also played a moody character sharpening his knives in a corner once, but that was what the Dm asked me to, he wanted to try and warn the players that my character wasn't to be trusted since I was an infiltrator, there only to try and make every plan they had go south.
Fun to play, but in that group, waaaaay to easy.

They never suspected a thing.
"No, I swear the hostage that had vital information for the resistance tried to escape."

"No, I absolutely had to stab him in the back until he dropped dead."

"Why his hands are still tied behind his back?
No but see, despite clearly being a warrior and never having shown any inclination towards magic, he apeared to be casting a spell to escape."

"Why I am so sure? Well, he was using a language I didn't understand you see."

"That black gunk around the wound where I stabbed him? Tes, you are probably right, it looks like poison.
The kind I use? No you see....I'm out..."

And on and on.

Yea that can be a lot of fun for a bit.

One day I will be able to tell you the extent of the manipulations behind Rogar's unsolicited shadowy connections. Some was through in-game spoilers... some in PMs.
It was fun to see how he'd try so hard to go against what he was asked to do by the shadowy contact because he didn't want anyone telling him what to do, and then have Norton voice the same opinion on course of action as the enigmatic notes.

Folks, I'm sorry, but I owe you closure. I recently got a new job that is taking up a lot of my time, as I'm sure you've all seen by my lack of posting. Two days ago, however, my family was hit by a very serious crisis. As such, I have to bow out of this group. Thank you for the good times.

Are we sure we have all the BP needed?

If I'm not mistaken we planned:

Castle 54bp -> 27 with discount
House 3bp
Road 2bp
Farm 3bp

Total 35

Treasury left 15, we can have the fishery, but the foundry seems out of reach.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

We may have to build a tenement to save BP. We can upgrade it later.

Male hp: 45/45; AC:17/14-ff16/14-tch10; F+7, R+4, W+5; Initiative 0, Perception +5

That would mean starting the next month with 1 BP in the treasury.
When the upkeep phase kicks in, what is going to happen?

We already have 50% chances to fail the stability check, the tennent is going to give +2 unrest, if we go bankrupt we get another +2 urest.
Is my understanding that the kingdom building rules are a first for us all, I'm ok with the "economy push", but shouldn't we pace ourself a bit and learn how the system works before we create some kind of market bubble that blows in our faces?

The GM is giving us the chance to build in a month more than the rules allow. This is not reason to get greedy and overreach.

I say, wait next month, do a round of kingdom management and see how the different scores go, then we plan our next move. We have one shot at it, we better aim and get it right first time.

Yea foundry would break you this month even if you skimped on terrain improvements.

Downtime Gnome Sorceror (draconic) 5

Well, we can change foundry to mill and still build the tenement as any unrest penalties will be offset by -4 for castle.
