The world is in jeopardy (isn't it always), but not only the world but the multiverse as well. Someone (Something?) has found a way to "reboot" the world and is anxious to recreate things the way he/she/it wants. And they are tapping into the power of the planes themselves heedless of the consequences. Will the heroes be able to keep the multiverse intact?
I'm looking for six players for a PBP game. There are some people I'm offering this chance to first before opening this up to anyone/everyone. In addition, if I don't know you, the answer is no.
This adventure will start in Forgotten Realms -- mostly because it's what I know -- but it will quickly move to the different planes. This will be an opportunity for myself and the players to explore something I haven't done before and hopefully will be new for you as well. I also want this to be an opportunity for some people who often don't have many chances to play outside of being a DM. (I know what it's like to always be the DM.)
Word of warning -- I don't really know the planes (well at least as RAW). I may (and most likely will) modify some things to fit me. So if you have some preconceived ideas of how Carceri should be and would be easily disappointed if it isn't RAW, then you shouldn't play.
I may already have 6 people -- I believe that Urizen, Moorluck, Treppa, Taig, and Lynora have expressed interest. And someone else? Not sure. If we don't have a group soon, I'll put something on the "Connection" area.
Specifics.
Pathfinder system. You guys are "heroes" so we'll make you fairly powerful -- that and the planes are dangerous. 25 point buy. 7th level. I would like some backgrounds written up. If any of you know each other, it would be in passing or rumor only. You don't have to worry about where you're from or where you are. (I hate initial meetings and will start you in the middle of things.) Play what you want to play. While certain class combinations are certainly helpful, I feel that if an area is lacking, it's my job to make up for it in other ways. I will allow many/most things from 3.5 but will have to tweak it for Pathfinder on a case by case basis.

I had expressed interest, ...
And CH. Let's go with this until/unless someone tells me different. (I think it was Taig that expressed interest -- real names and screen names still baffle me a bit.)

Since this will be planar jumping, I'm in. 25 pt buy, 7th level - gotcha. What are you restricting the classes / races to when we're building? I only ask in case you're thinking of blending any FR related content to a Pathfinder build.
I don't want to mess with anything with a level adjustment. I would normally say only "normal" races, but I know that FR has minor differences with many of the races. I'm willing to work with that. Classes -- I'm willing to tweak (to some degree) any/most of the "Complete" books so if there is a class in one of those you'd like, we can take a look at it. Otherwise, Pathfinder Core and PF APG.

I think Woodraven might have spoken up, too.

I'm definitely interested, but would be willing to step aside for someone who doesn't get to play often if the spot is needed. After all, I'm pretty much just a player, not a DM. Since I basically had a nervous breakdown the one time I tried to DM. :)
I think that we are all too nice -- I see us as all holding the door for the other person while no one actually goes through the door. ;-)
I don't have many preferences. It looks like CH, Woodraven, and Lynora are all willing to offer their place to someone else. Should we "roll off"?
Treppa |
Oh, Carceri? I just finished running a 3-year campaign focused on Carceri and spent a lot of time there. I'm not really interested in playing, but I can give you stuff I either found or made up for the place if you need it, Moff. It was fairly good, I think. The Puffin would be able to say.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to play, Moff, and let me know if you want any materials.

I was just using Carceri as a "for instance". I'm not going to spend a ton of time in any one plane -- I see this as kind of a tour of the planes.

Which is why I'm interested. That, and if you're able to include any graphical imagery by repurposing your photographic talents, that'd be even more awesome. :)

Oh, I planned to avoid anything that required a LA. If one wants to play a tiefling bad enough, fortunately there's already content available for that right out of Council of Thieves. :)

The Puffin and I are definites. One of the two of us is always GM'ing and we never get to play together. Not Pathfinder, anyway. 25-pt buy, 7th level. HP? Gold?
HP -- Any problems with Max? (I don't foresee much difficulty in taking away said HP.)
Gold -- Let's go with 28,000 for now. That's around halfway between 7th and 8th level.

How about special materials like mithril and adamantine? :P
*continues bombarding Moff*
Hmmm. I'm not against it, but I still want it to be "special".
If your character wants a special materials item (only one) roll to see if you have access to it. 50% chance -- Low: you have access to the metal. High: You don't.

Furious Focus from the APG?

Still debating between my two concepts. If I go with cleric, would we have to retool some domains to conform to the Pathfinder rules? Maybe look at similar deities and see what they have? There are a number of PF domains (not to mention sub-domains) that were not in 3.5 and therefore not related to the FR deities.

Ok...
SP -- I'm ok with that feat. Thanks for providing the handy link. Saves me a little time.
Treppa -- I'm ok with that. I'm mildly concerned about odd stacking combinations. I don't think that most of us are "power gamers", but I'd like to keep away from one person dominating things.
CH -- It shouldn't be too difficult to figure something out. Which deities are you considering?

Understood. I'm not generally the person who dominates, so it's kind of funny to see that. :-) I'm more concerned about being able to touch things from the various planes, since so many of them have varied DR, not in stacking effects for powergaming. DR can be really frustrating for low damage dealers.
