Hell's Vengeance AP

Recruitment

51 to 74 of 74 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

My tentative idea is a Flame Oracle who aligns with the group to hone his skills and perhaps locate what he Seeks. He is more than willing to assist the group in order to strengthen himself and anything that lies ahead of him will not interfere with the AP.

The sheet that is under the profile is from an old Way of the Wicked game and I'll adjust if chosen. I'll put his background here.

Voice from the Well:

Description:Description: Clyde is a large and obese man who is shaved bald and has a nose that seems too pointed and big for his face, his eyes are dark and beady. Clyde dresses in loose clothes of brown and black pretty much everywhere.
Background:Always an obese child, Clyde was the son of a man who eventually worked himself to death and had little time for Clyde, not that he was cruel, but that he was home so little that Clyde often wandered and to escape the harassment of the other children he found himself a hiding place near an old well where he would gaze at nothing and listen to the lapping of water in the well.
When he was a teen, his father's heart gave out and Clyde couldn't afford anything other than a pauper's grave and with the last thread holding him to his birthplace gone he wandered once again to the well with a gnawing emptiness in his heart. How long he sat there he didn't know, he just felt crushing loss and a void that might have led to suicide but as he let himself be enveloped in the darkness, he noticed a cat perched atop the well and heard faint whispers that sounded like the lapping of water. Looking over the well's edge, he looked down and saw a tiny flickering light in the depths and reached down. Oh it burned him deep but he held it close and brought it up. It was so small, no bigger than a candle flame but Clyde popped it into his mouth and scorched his tongue as his soul was scarred and visions of fire and water filled his mind. The cat meowed again and when Clyde turned to it he received a scratch across the face but oddly enough he knew the cat would be his closest friend.
Personality: Clyde is very much driven by his hunger and the need to hide himself due to a terrible fear. He labors long in the backrooms of taverns, breweries and bakeries both for sustenance and to vanish among st the pots and casks. He has no friends except for that blasted cat who has marked his hands no matter how sweet the dish he has served, he is determined to bend it to his will or maybe make a pie of it. Often he dreams of blazing fire and freezing ice, of fury and an undefinable pull out of the city and somewhere else.

Background:
Venbrylix the night hag had recently made up her mind to undertake the risky transformation from night to dreamthief hag. Unfortunately for her, she had had no patience for the nurture and development of any coven or cult loyal to her that she could trust to make sure she was protected while mortal. So Venbrylix found an alternative: to purchase her security from Hell.

She approached a Gelugon named Garvorax; a long time buyer of her soul gems. Together, they crafted a deal: Venbrylix would provide Garvorax a vast quantity of soul gems, and in return, all the mortal might the devil could muster would be brought to bear in raising and protecting her mortal form until the age of 18. Afterwards she would pursue her ascension, but if she failed, her soul would be damned to Hell.

Venbrylix wanted some additional assurance however, and so at the last minute she added an addendum to the contract: there would be a trial run; Venbrylix would provide an expendable daughter to go before her and make sure the Garvorax could make good on her word. At the cost of additional souls, the Gelugon agreed, and 2 years later a dominated green hag gave birth to Naiara, a violet eyed girl with a streak of white in her dark hair, and two small lumps on her forehead.

According to the terms of the contract, Naiara was adopted by House Leroung in Egorian, a powerful if somewhat apolitical noble house in Cheliax. Her foster parents spared no expense in Naiara's education, knowing that failure to raise the child well meant certain death, while success would bring the favor of a powerful devil. Even so, Naiara's obviously supernatural appearance often made her the target of bullying by her youthful peers, at least until her catechism in the Church of Asmodeus.

At the age of 9, Naiara's Leroung foster parents took her to the Midnight Temple in Egorian. In a special ceremony, she used a ceremonial ruby dagger to draw her own blood and trace an Asmodean pentagram on the ground around her. No sooner was the pentagram complete and the child kneeling then the air exploded with arcane energy and several additional previously unseen magical circles sprang into being around her, lined with words that only few recognized as originating from the infernal contract that began Naiara's life. A few feet away, another, smaller circle flared to life, and a tiny off-white scorpion materialized.

When the display of power faded, the scorpion hid itself within Naiara's dress, and the priests proclaimed that Naiara was favored of Hell. Any bullying from kids still stupid enough to continue afterwards quickly ceased when Naiara discovered that she could snap her fingers and cause people to lose consciousness for a moment.

When she was old enough, Naiara enrolled in the Egorian Academy of the Magical Arts, and thanks to her somewhat legendary childhood display was hard sought after as a devil binding assistant. She studied for a year, but at 19 years of age began to hear "the call" to more fully embrace her roots, and took a leave of absence. After some investigation regarding where the green hag who bore her came from, and spending most of her money on a scroll of Divination that directed her towards someone by the name of Cimri Staelish, Naiara set out for Longacre.

Appearance:
Though born to a noble house and accustomed to a relatively high standard of living, The Call pushes on Naiara's mind such that she has adopted the lifestyle of an average traveler; A practical red wool skirt, a simple white shirt with a dark vest, comfortable boots, and an ample cloak. Naiara's modest attire does little to disguise her origins however. Her smooth skin, not yet closed ear piercings, and well cared for hair place her in a background of wealth, while her violet heterochromatic eyes and the white streak in her hair are dead giveaways as to her supernatural origins.

Personality:
Though many changelings develop a cruel streak in their adolescent years, the bizarre combination of bullying, adulation, and privilege experienced by Naiara has led her to simply become detached. Friends are friends, enemies are enemies, and if someone is not a friend, they only matter in so far as they are a means to an end. Even so, no one would describe Naiara as reserved; on the contrary, she approaches life with an optimistic energy that is invigorating to some, and more than a little disturbing to others. As a hedonist with both patience and supernatural power, Naiara usually gets her way.

I was mistaken, the trait is called 'Thrune Informant'.

The build will be focused on mind-affecting divination effects (like detect thoughts and the like). It will be staying away from dominate based spells.

With fellow player cooperation, this character could be a very fun character to have around and generate some fun inter-party rp.

This is my submission. I was in another Hell's Vengence game and will adjust it to the Dms wishes. It gives a basic idea of the character.

@The Archlich
Thank you for setting this up

and
thanks you to the future GM who will run this, Even if I am not part of the game I thank you for running any game.

Dark Archive

Hey Khor feel like linking backgrounds since we come from he same fallen game and continuing the Khor and Johnny show?

Working on finishing up evangelist cleric of dispater using variant channel harm for daze.

Dispater wills it!

You must cast off these lesser gods and failures and adhere to strong powerful rule such as the Thrunes!

Grand Lodge

Papadage, please read the rules on the first post.

Oops. Let's make it LE and Scion of the Nine Circles.

Liberty's Edge

I think I’ll submit a LE unarchtyped fighter with plans to go into the Sanguine Angel PRC. A a Grey Maiden and a diehard Thrune loyalist with a pathological need to see House Thrune’s desires fulfilled.

Thanks guys! I will compile a new list soon.

If you know any GMs and wants to check if HV interests them, please engage them here! The GM who was studying the possibility of assuming it here unfortunately won't be able to, so we're still at that uncomfortable "hostless" spot at the moment.

I've reached out to a guy that is getting ready to run a weekly (paid) Hell's Vengeance game on Roll20 to see if he'd be willing to adopt this PbP as well. I'll let you know what he says.

Chyrone's submission.

Slightly uncommon type of backstory, i've based him off a character outside of Golarion.

@Torivor, what is his weekly rate? I'm all in favor of paying a good GM a stipend, especially if we can divide the cost.

Seconded

$12/session/player.

Honestly that's a little outside my budget, but if others can pay that much then more power to them.

Torivor wrote:

I could probably manage that once a week. Especially for a Hell's Vengeance game!

Silver Crusade

I'll pass if money is involved.

Same for me - but I’ll be happy to see some people finding a host. I’ll keep the post here going, however, in the hopes I find us another GM.

Alright the guy got back to me and let me know that he wasn't interested in running a PbP. He is still looking for 3 players if some people want to pay to play on Roll20. For now though, us PbPers are still without a GM.

Hmm, I probably can't manage it if it isn't PbP. Though thanks very much for asking, Torivor!

Perhaps we should consider a GM trade? Someone bites the bullet and runs Hell's Vengeance instead of playing it, and in return someone else runs another adventure path that the first GM gets to play in? The obvious choice would be Hell's Rebels but it could be anything.

Dotting in case a wild GM appears.

You know, I'd be down for a set up like that, but I don't really want to run Hell's Vengeance.

I created a new thread for this recruitment to refresh interest. Please follow up there!
