GM, thanks fo the suggestion. I'm flexible.

Regarding Valeros, I'm not terribly excited for dual wielding, I'd lean towards a 1hander & shield or a 2H weapon.

I'm also leaning away from a Paladin for this module, i'm not sure how I feel it fits the adventure. I've also never much enjoyed playing Barbarians.

I would like to be a frontline melee to fit the group. I'm not sure what changes, if any might be made to the pre-gen to better fit the mold.

Im working on the backstory for Tomas Valeros, a man-at-arms. Who is returning home to Falcon's Hollow after a few years of contracted service. (Name and details subject to change).

Hi folks, I had expressed an interest in this last week. I had to go out of town for the weekend for a family members college graduation.

I'm still interested in playing, and it looks like the group could use a front liner. If you're willing to accept me, I'd be happy to play using the pre-gen fighter Valeros.

I can work on a backstory and alias this afternoon.

Edit: I'm fine playing whatever class, if there is a different role that might fit the group better.

Excellent.
I am initially leaning towards the druid or one of the clerics, but not tied firmly to anything.
If I look at character options in the core rules, will those transfer to the PF ruleset? In case there is something I want to reskin or rework.

I'm interested in this as well. I don't have PfSW, but I have access to the SW core rulebook.
However, I have not played in a SW game before. I am usually a DM in PF1e, and believe I would be able to figure it out pretty quickly.

Sorry for not having my character submitted fully yet. The end of month grind at work has made it difficult. I will be submitting Luka as a Wizard on one side of the Gestalt, probably with a martial or skillful pairing. (maybe investigator or gunslinger?)

Thank you both.

I would say to rein it in a fraction, since we have so many additives for characters, we should require a drawback to get the third trait.

On another note, does anyone know if theres a way to do gestalt in Herolab?

Excellent news EltonJ. I will have a concept amd some fluff up tomorrow.

The only caveat regarding races from the GM was "Paizo only". But I don't know if Monkeygod has any restrictions he would like in place.

I am in support of eliminating feat taxes.

ABP: I have not played with automatic bonus progression, but i am familiar with it, and dont mind that.

Other questions I'd have would be starting HP, and wealth.

Full HD at 1st and half+1 every level are standard in my game. (And most games ive come across)

Im fine with average starting wealth, but if you wanted to shake that up a bit with some rolls you could.

Lots of things here so far are going to make the first few levels significantly easier if played in combination. (Not necessarily a bad thing, simply an observation.)

Congrats to those selected. Good luck and high rolls!

I've never played a Wizard, in almost 15 years of gaming. (Partly because I Perma GM my home games, and partially because i just lean to martial/skilled chatacters)

This might be a good spot for that. Also, PbP affords the time to manage spells effectively.

Have any of you played a Wizard in PbP? Any feedback on issues or hangups I should be aware of?

Also, I'm not even close to set in stone on this yet either.

3) Bonus (usually 1) background feat: While I usually don't like it, there are some ideas that are interesting; like, one free "story" feat, or "racial", or "teamwork" or "betrayal"... I think they add a cool mix to the game. Some other iterations just feel like freebies.

I agree that they should be limited to more "flavorful" choices. No need for too much mechanical benefit, but it can help cement a charcter's personality or goals.

I'd be down for that for sure, but I guess that depends on if this is a standard recruitment or not. Harder to consider or navigate party balance of there end up being 25+ submissions like on GM Inara's Mummy's Mask.

Do you have any particular concepts in mind?

Id be interested. I've read starfinder rules, ive listend to Podcasts, but i haven't yet played any. I think a PbP format could work well as an entrée into the game mechanics.

Dotting in case a wild GM appears.

This is what GM Anthrog said in the other thread.

Anything else is completely up to you.

I would echo the races and classes question. Though, i usually end up a core race anyways. (Most often human)

Hey Monkeygod thanks for setting this up!

1) I'm not opposed to Gestalt. It opens a lot of options, but can cause some inbalance. If gestalt is your thing, and its good with the GM, its fine by me!

2) I run background skills in all my IRL games. So thats where my preference stands.

3)This also opens up more options for flavorful builds imho. Im for it.

4)When playing an adventure path, I like 3 traits, (even if it requires taking a drawback to get the 3rd). Campaign trait ties you into the game/setting, one trait for mechanical benefit, and one trait to flesh out my character's personality.

It was meant as more of a just-in-case sort of thing Monkeygod. My bad.

Trying to be respectful of the GM.

If I can be of any assistance, let me know.

Please note the the focus foible method is 1d10+8.

Whoops! Re-roll incoming!

1d10 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If he doesnt come back pretty soon and start the recruitment thread, i'd be glad to put one together; Assuming GM Anthorg finds that agreeable.

I'm so anxious to play this, in large part, because I've played PF for 10 years-ish and havent ever played RotRL as a player or GM.

starting stats
10 + 1d8 ⇒ 10 + (1) = 11
10 + 1d8 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
10 + 1d8 ⇒ 10 + (5) = 15
10 + 1d8 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16

I have a Cavalier i've built in the past, who i think might work well.

I'll get some character concept/info up tomorrow am.

Thanks for running the game, and the opportunity to apply!

Sounds good. FYI - The GM and 1 player are both OLD time D&D players. We converted to Pathfinder several years back. And now are ready to make the leap into PF2. We will all have to work together to learn the PF2 rules. We have played several PF2 scenarios during PaizoCon, but are not experts in the PF2 rules.

I am not too familiar with PF2e either. I started on 3.5, and have played pathfinder for years, though ive been the perma GM for my IRL groups.

Ok, so I am running two Rise games and can take one more, I think. But... I currently have no desire to organize a recruitment. So, @Monkeygod, since you're so driven, I ask that you do it.

@GM Anthorg: You're an absolute rockstar for picking this up.

@Monkeygod I'd love the opportunity to join you in this campaign. Im happy to submit through a normal recruitment. But if you'd like assistance, let me know.

Might be able to make every other tuesday work, so i at least want to mark my interest.

I'll have to consider what i would most like to play, but most likely some martial, possibly divine.

Monkeygod wrote:
Still looking for GMs. We found 1 for Rise, but they haven't posted in awhile, and even if they come back, I would like to play in at least one or two more APs.

I too am looking to get into a couple of AP's. The ones ive been in in the past (a couple years back) all fizzled out fairly early on. It seems chronic at this point. Lol

GM Anthorg - RotR wrote:
Ok, I did consider adopting this. Can someone walk me through what the proposition is?

@Monkeygod made a post a number of weeks ago, requesting a run through RotRL anniversary edition.

Echoxero took up the mantle, started a discussion tab; Monkeygod had a couple players lined up with him, but Echoxero vanished, and hasnt posted since Oct 2nd.

There were a few of us in the initial discussin thread hoping to be brought in as well.

I was so hopeful. Still haven't ever played RotRL.

Dot for 1 I love the idea of centering it around an order of knights.

As others here have stated, knightly orders and mounted combat just simply isn't an option in most groups.

I have a character that I have longed play in a setting like this.

I was literally just thinking how badly I want someone to run Mummy's Mask here. I was even coming up with character concepts on my lunch break.

I am stoked this opportunity exists. Character incoming!

was in original thread, posting here in case you need add'l players

Hi Tarondor, I am Very interested! It has been a while since ive played on these boards and I'm excited to return. Ive been searching for a group here for a couple weeks. I have experience as a PbP player, but most of the campaigns had GM's fall out.

I am the permanent dm for a few irl groups, and Im looking for a place to sink in and discover a character as a player again.

Torgrin Deepsmith wrote:
I particularly enjoy PbP for the freedom to think of creative text.

(I also appreciate this medium for the creativity and ability to craft responses)

As others have mentioned, this pulp setting sounds great, very unique and welcome change from the typical fantasy.I know very little about the Cthulu mythos. However, I think learning this as my character does would be a bonus for me in this setting.

I am married, no kids, and I work a 9-5 as a project manager in manufacturing. (With access to this site at work) ;)

I look forward to learning more!

I chose
Ire of the Storm (1-6)
Seers of the Drowned City (6-8)
Tomb of the Iron Medusa (14)

I really struggled whether to pick Down the Blighted Path or Iron Medusa. ( I decided based off of the request for multiple level ranges)
But a definite honorable mention to Blighted Path.

Point Buy Roll: 4d4 + 20 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 1) + 20 = 30

I'm looking super hard for a group to play with. I dig the setting and would love the opportunity to join. I will roll up an appropriate submission early tomorrow!

Edit: Which party members remain? I'd like to know what the group may benefit from...

Definitely interested as a player.
I share your same hesitations regarding this AP, itd be great to run with some like-minded folks.

I'm in also! I don't have any particular requests, as far as modules go I'm very flexible.

I will review the appropriate material and submit an offering as well. I've been scouring the recruitment the last week looking for any openings!

I'd be interested in this as well. I've seen the Humblewood setting advertised on The Gallant Goblin youtube channel, and it was intriguing.

Haven't purchased the book yet though.

Experienced player looking for adventure, intrigue, or cataclysm!

I have experience with P1 and PbP on this forum.
I am interested in any system, but primarily either edition of Pathfinder. I look forward to offering a thoughtfully created character for your AP.

did you find the players you were looking for?

I'd love to get into a game with long term intentions as well. Though I see there are several ahead of me.

Echoxero, will you be looking for character submissions?

I'm interested in this as well! I think a character that focuses on a long gun/sharpshooter type would be interesting. Possibly a "native" that has indigenous living (survival) skills.

I'd be interested as well.

give it some time man, it's the weekend.

I'm very interested in this! I've wanted to play Kingmaker for so long, but only once was I able to get into a game, and it died pretty quickly.

Edit: Well, I'm gonna have to give this some thought, I was gonna go Inquisitor/Gunslinger, but I see Dimitri Moldona has already decided to submit the same. I'll have to look at options.

I'm interested!! I'll be putting together an alias soon, but I'm looking at an unchained Rogue.

I'm interested. I'd like to get an unchained rogue going. Will you be allowing/using Unchained classes?

So I'm definitely looking at a Juju Oracle. Probably aged up. Gotta start working on backstory etc. to bring this one to life, or maybe undeath...
