I just ran 20.5k yesterday at a 6'26 pace without any issues. Which is totally awesome.

It's like my god...if I can finally get the longer distances without knee issues, I can start training for a marathon! The thing that was holding me back is that if I get knee issues, I might be doing myself long term injury if I continue at status quo/try to intensify training. Wheeee!

Well my SO's mom drinks a ton of those "joint juice" things supposedly they help with joints she does a lot of hiking. I think fish oil is another one of those things. I assume you get enough fish oil isn't seafood like super popular over there?

Man those last two posts felt like we were in an alternate universe. Or went native in the south whichever...

"Went native"? Son, I done been a native of The South what since the day I crawled nekkid, screaming, and ugly out of my Momma. Shoot.

We take kindly to your type around here boy.

Darn tootin'.

Now, what say we head down the road a spell, turn cattywampus towards the holler, go down to the crick, and catch us up a mess of catfish for dinner? I'll have the missus whip up a batch of her famous hush puppies, and we'll call Ol' Cletus and see if he's got some white lightning to share.

Dope.

Most oily fish are like salmon and cod which are not local, so they're imported and thus more expensive. Though I make it a point that after I long run, I teat myself to a slab of salmon.

He a tooth pulled today. That is an intense experience. Sure they numb it but so many other things going on.

Anyone know any tips to make the kinetcist a bit more effective? He shoots lighting I think he's air element. I think he is falling behind everyone else. possibly even the rogues.

There's a magic item on page 259-260 of Occult Adventures called Kineticist's Diadem (comes in lesser, regular, and greater versions) that increase blast damage.

Ooh sounds perfect! I didn't even know that existed. Thanks.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of Kineticist specific feats to use on your blast in the main book, I have a few other books I can look through.

6th level is kind of a weird spot for Kineticist, 7th level you can pick another element which helps a lot.

I guess ill have to stop by then.

Huh, that's the only way to increase blast damage without gathering power, or interweave composite blast (which requires another Kineticist).

When you say 'falling behind everyone else' what do you mean?

Did he take the Wings of Air utility wild talent combined with air's reach and extended range? Because that makes him a constantly flying (at 60 ft. move w/good maneuverability) 3d6 touch attack dealing character who never has to get more than 240 feet away from an enemy to still be hitting their touch AC. And you can spend a move action to Empower that blast by gathering power.

Yes, it might take more patience and if he runs into something that is immune to (or improved by) electricity, he's in trouble, but EVERY character build out there has SOMETHING they're not good against.

Now if he didn't take Wings of Air, air's reach, and extended range...

I dunno. There may not be the one-shot glorious bajillion points of damage opportunities, but the steady damage output while effectively having an infinite AC (because if they can't get to you, your AC is infinite) is just as good in the long run.

Uh that is some good advice quibble I will tell him some of those strategy. I think the issue could be that the game is all 18's stats concept and some people that really boosted up while others it's less notable with the exception of constitution because let me tell you that helped everyone out exponentially.

Since you guys are so down on this help me understand the burn as far as when you use gather energy and the burn buffer. so can he just throw all the stuff on his blast and reduce it by 1 burn or is it one burn each?

*searches for cream-filled chocolate-covered long johns*

And no, that's not a euphemism.

I kind of really hoped it wasn't.

My understanding is that you can use gather power as a move and the burn buffer together to reduce a blast wild talent cost by 2 points in the same round.

Not only that, but unlike gather power, the burn buffer can be used on ANY thing that takes burn (gather power explicitly only reduces blast wild talents--not utility wild talents or metakinesis). I misspoke above about avoiding burn while empowering.

So is burn buffer gonna always reduce all the burn i take in a round by 1 or whatever it's currently at? So i'm basically free to always add a 1 burn to anything I do?

No—you use up the internal buffer. Think of it as 1 free point per day, borrowed from yesterday.

Vidmaster7 wrote:

Also note: "Infusion Specialization (Ex): At 5th level, whenever a kineticist uses one or more infusions with a blast, she reduces the combined burn cost of the infusions by 1. This can't reduce the total cost of the infusions used below 0. She reduces the burn cost by 1 additional point at 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, and 20th levels."

So at 6th level you don't even have to gather power to reduce the Extended Range infusion burn cost to 0. You can just DO it. Which, if you also have 'air's reach' (which doesn't cost anything either), means your blast range is 240 ft. without expending burn.

My personal idea for a fun kineticist is going to be a dwarf with earth/earth/void (gravity effects specifically, not negative energy) elements.

I'm still not completely up on all the burn mechanics though, so for now I'll keep my face out of that to avoid adding confusion.

The Exchange

I always took maximum burn available for Kineticist and don't forget to do move action to gather power before your blast for your free empower.

Alright I think I got a good handle on it now.
