You should stand up in the middle of the court proceedings and shout, "The truth? You can't handle the truth!", then calmly sit back down, maybe smoothing a crease in your shirt or trouser leg as you do so.

Since the kid wasn't communicating with me, I texted his roommate and said, (short version here) if something didn't happen today I was about to show them how much of a d**k I could really be. And no, it wasn't "duck"...lol.

He showed up with his debit card, paid off the bill, and was in a surprisingly good mood about it the whole time.

Excellent. Glad to hear the situation resolved without anyone's legs needing to get broken...

I don't have kids.

But if I *did* have kids, before they went off to kindergarten, I'd train them to shout that whenever a teacher asked them a question.

Which is one reason why I don't have kids.

Somehow though, it's a shame you don't. I suspect they'd be wickedly precocious. We had a parent/teacher conference when my son was in the second grade because the teacher heard him tell a group of kids how to make Molotov cocktails.

HA!

"But he's fomenting revolution at a 10th grade level already!"

And that was a good thing. Second graders are too young to drink. :-)

I first read "bearded fiendish head" as "bearded fish head". I need to clean my glasses.

That could work with serpentine body, too.

Well, that was weird. I was walking Rosie and Buster just now and I noticed a new neighbor having trouble getting the empty recyclables only bin over the curb from the street into her driveway. It was pretty easy to see she had some physical challenges, so I asked if I could help. She said yes, so the dingoes and I walked across the street. Like most folks do, she asked if she could pet them. I said sure, and introduced them. Before I left I said, "Welcome to the neighborhood. I'm Calvin." She replied, "I know", and turned around, heading back to her house. I don't even know the names of anyone except for one person on that side of the street, and she lives two houses away from her. Heck, I barely know the names of the people on my block. Weird.

Cal, have you been having a lot of weird headaches? Seen strange lights? Noticed things moving in your house you can't account for? How about cold spots?

Alternatively Cal, your story sounds like the start of a creepypasta… :O

LOL it does, doesn't it? LOL

Now how am I going to resist the temptation, whenever anyone introduces themselves to me, to say "I know" and walk away mysteriously? HOW?!

And that's why Quibblemuch was shunned by neighbors and passersby alike...

It was good enough for Han Solo in Empire.

I'm no Han Solo. Hell, I'm barely Ponda Baba.

I found a portrait of Venger (from the 1980s Dungeons and Dragons cartoon) online today. It's a great take on the character and reminded me that the series finale' was never produced but was included as an audio only episode with the DVD boxed set as a bonus feature. I had forgotten about that and one of my friends found it on Youtube. I listened to it a bit ago. It wasn't bad and it's a shame it never made it to television.

Here's a link for anyone who wants to check it out.

So THAT'S what it was all about?!? Things make so much more sense now.

I was in college when the cartoon originally aired. It was also when I was just starting to play D&D. Our usual routine was to get up and get together in a large meeting space just off the dorm lobby, watch the cartoon on the communal tv there, then start gaming. We'd play until lunch then come back and play until the cafeteria served dinner, take a break, and then come back and play until we were sick of each other's company...lol. The next weekend we'd do it all over again.

Unfortunately, I didn't know anything about TTRPGs when I was in college. Our game of choice was bridge. :-)

College was where I learned, as two of my original four roommates and my now-sister-in-law all played or had played and introduced me to the game. Prior to then I'd never heard of D&D outside basic cultural osmosis.

Well, I graduated in 1972 and finished graduate school in 1975. IIRC the original D&D was published in 1976. I was at OCS and a little too busy for RPGs. I was introduced to the game in my first ship. :-)

I bought one of the red boxes (with the Jeff Easley cover, I think?) second hand, somewhen in the mid to late 80s. Before that, it was LOTR and Fighting Fantasy.

I'm a bit too young for that, heh. Was born in 85.

Hi, everyone. Sorry for being away for so long. And I'm sorry for not reading the last four hundred fifty posts.

Hi John! Hope you've been ok!

Hi, Quib. Yeah, I'm okay. Just trying to fight Youtube's gravity well.

Sorry, I was watching YouTube videos about gravity wells...

Hey! Glad you're back!

Ugh. Woke up with a bad stomach ache that has progressed to...well. And things were going great. Thanks, Tuesday.

Sorry you're not well, Cal.

Thanks. I have a relief package on the way!

I hope that you feel better tomorrow.

Thanks, John. I'm sure I will. It doesn't feel like food poisoning and it's certainly not a stomach virus, but probably ate something that didn't agree with me. It'll be gone by tomorrow, I'm sure.

Was the disagreement over whether or not you'd have diarrhea? Let me guess who won that argument: the food.

(Joke blatantly stolen from Dimitri Martin)

LOL it did.

About to go home. Good night, everyone.

G'nite!

Don't know if anyone saw it or is a fan, but Jensen Ackles is playing Soldier Boy on the Boys Season 3. I just happened to be on Instagram at the exact moment Mr Ackles posted his clever video. It should be a lot of fun!
