Yeah, that would be a chore trying to break into an iMac! My tower unit died a few months ago but I've been using the laptop in its place (I normally only used the laptop for game nights) and I just still prefer a tower unit. Maybe it's because I'm old. Anyway, I'm hoping it's a power supply issue and not a RAM or motherboard problem. My son and I plan to crack it open at some point soon and look around its innards.

Today try not die from feel so sick. Head hate me so much talk like this.

I'm not having a stroke or anything. I just feel s@~*ty and am representing it with poor grammar. Or I was.

Bleh. Sorry to hear about your affliction! I hope it goes away quickly. In the meantime, you know the drill; fluids, rest, and Tylenol or Ibuprofin!

My girl is out on a medicine run right now. I'm swaddled in blankets with two dogs acting as furnaces. Much homemade chicken soup to come.

I landed a real domestic woman. 1 year anniversary tomorrow, too. Heh. Today makes me a lot more grateful for tomorrow.

Very cool. My GF is very much like that. If I'm sick or something I'm pretty much forced to do nothing while she plays nurse (and that's also a subject for another time. J/K!!!). We've been together 6 years. And happy anniversary!

Working today, and tomorrow.

Hi, everyone.

Hey, John!

Hey, Cal! 'Sup?

Well, after 25 years my faithful dryer has died. And of course, it would do so with a huge load of wet towels in it and a load of sheets waiting in the queue. They'll just have to wait until I can get to the laundry mat tomorrow, but it's just one more bloody thing that's gone wrong today.

Well, that sucks. Any idea when it's getting replaced?

Nope. I might get a loaner from my son or my landlord but I won't be able to replace it on my on. Ever. My disability income just isn't enough. Hell, I'm thinking of starting a GoFundMe just to buy a new washer AND dryer, because the washer only works on one setting now.

Cal,

If I had a greater amount of income on the scale of Jeff Bezos, I'd happily buy you a new washer and dryer.

Thanks, Thomas. The thought is as appreciated as if it came to pass.

Well, housemates, it's time to turn in. It's been a stressful day and it's taken its toll on me. Good night, everyone.

Shadow Lodge

Time for me to crash as well.

Good night, Cal and Orthos.

I sympathise. My kettle kicked the bucket this morning, but only after it had loyally breathed its last boiling water for my morning tea.

I'm assuming you've already checked craigslist and nextdoor for your area to see if anyone wants to get rid of one; is your town big enough to have a used appliance store where they sell older models for around a hundred bucks?

There are used appliance places, to be sure. I just absolutely can't afford anything on my budget. My landlord thinks he has one that works and my son has one he can dig out of storage if that doesn't pan out. I'm not trying to poormouth here or anything, I promise (my sister is the one does that crap). Just live on an EXTREMELY tight budget.

Our coffee makers like to break when we're absolutely broke.

There's the "planned obsolescence" thing that makes one have to buy new appliances sooner than we used to and then there's the appliance just quitting out of spite because it knows you're screwed...LOL

Dryer?

<.<

>.>

I am using something like >this<. The previous one broke, literally, when father fell on it.

That's too bad. Was he ok?

Hi, everyone!

How do you do this? My NPCs always come out looking like a Monty Python drug overdose.

Nice Princesses!

Oh yes the old 'planned obsolescence' thing.
AKA- 'Lets make them buy the same item every 5 years, instead of building a device that lasts for 25 years like we used to'
;P

Good luck with that!
(I also hate being poor) ;)

Unfortunately, businesses have long since learned that when you have an item that lasts 30 years, that's 30 years you're not making money from that customer.

Look at Nokia. Everyone lauds them for making nearly indestructible phones. So indestructible, in fact, that they ran themselves out of business because once people had their Nokia, they had no reason to give the company money again.

And in the Era of the Shareholders, that simply won't do.

In the era of shareholders, I prefer people that don't have much to have more, and the people that have more than they could ever spend to give about 80% of it up.

BAAAA HUMBUG!!! Tis the season for cleaning up the messes that you made during the holiday season. Don't worry about going to the gym, get your work out by pushing a broom. It will impress the H#ll out of your significant other.

And then you'll get another workout.

Nice as that is, it's probably the opposite of what actually happens.

Orthos,

I know...but again this is coming from the guy that would use the Infinity Stones and maybe combine them to make the Infinity Gauntlet...and then wish it away afterwards.

That and I still need to work out Pre-gens for "Let's Kill Krampus."

Now back to work! ;P

(That was aimed at myself. Mostly.) ;)

Hope you guys are having a more exciting evening than I. There's not a bloody thing going on here.

My Best Furry Friend Mr. Goober died at 11:34 am. yesterday morning in a freak accident that broke his neck. FB post here including a donation linkie, for anyone so inclined.

Imma gonna miss my Best Pet Friend ... many of us in this thread know all about this. Hopefully this post is okay.

Shadow Lodge
