I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible.

First, Mom and Dad for conceiving me.

Then there's Dr. D, who delivered me so capably.

Next...

Nice! I've had chocolate stout before, but never chocolate & stout cake.

Sounds like a good quarantine project.

That's right. I'm back at work on Monday, but that doesn't mean I can't make the attempt. We're allowed to travel to see one (1) other household now, too, so I can make it as a treat for my other half, providing I can lure her away from her no-carbs keto diet. I think I can.

Playbook: Professor

If anyone plays Blades In The Dark, or wants to play Blades In The Dark, or got the recent BLM bundle (which includes Blades In The Dark roleplaying game pdf).

Intriguing... I had not heard of this game, but will check it out!

Another one I hadn't heard of,...
<Adds to list. The list is getting long,...>

There is still a day to get the bundle and the Blades in the Dark, among the many-many other things.

I only just now noticed that one of our housemates, Treppa, made the 5,000th post! I'm grateful that Treppa, along with everyone else, still shares their news, blues, and reviews about life, the universe, and everything here in The House of Respite!

Heh.

Heh heh.

Heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh.

So last night we had our Strange Aeons session in person (with one player conferenced in on a tablet).

I run the game using Hero Lab on my laptop. Also, I have a small Bluetooth speaker that nests on the bookshelf right behind where the players sit. These are both significant facts.

They decide to use the Necronomicon to teleport to a location. As the PC begins to read it...

...this video plays with escalating volume from behind them.

At first it was so soft and they were talking amongst themselves, so they didn't notice. Gradually, they became aware of something... then... SO MUCH CHANTING!

Heh.

I've missed live gaming and the opportunities it affords to psychologically traumatize my friends.

LOL!
Now THAT'S funny Quibble!

Add in a surprise Monkey pounce at the height of volume, and sit back to enjoy the screams! ;)

Believe me, if I could've figured out how to spring-load Monkey Santa behind the books, I totally would have. Why didn't I pay attention in Booby Traps 101?! WHY?!

Nothing a little PVC tubing, a spring, a PVC disc, a drill, a peg (dowel rod would work), and a string can't cure. For best effect, have him set up on the floor behind you, camouflaged inside a laundry basket. Set the launch angle to have him go head first over your shoulder.

As if you commanded him. As if...

I refer you to my earlier comment re: divorce proceedings. I got a good scam going, I’m not letting some holiday themed pounce-happy monkey ruin it...

Great, aged wizzie. Now you've inspired him.

Which goes as one could predict.

And ends up, well... yeah.

He’s not much of a snuggler. He’s more of a “panic at any movement and sprint elsewhere” kind of boy.

Today is one of those weird days where I am flooded by memories of long ago and longing to "go home". "Home" was the farm where I lived for the first 25 years of my life, excluding the time I was away at college. My dad passed in 1985 and Mom hung onto the farm until the fall of 1988 when she sold it for a fraction of its worth without consulting me or my sister first. I had moved away again and she called me and in a cheery voice told me she had sold the place. I felt gut-punched like I never have before or since. I've driven by our old place a handful of times over the last 32 years but it hurts more and more to do so. I won't ever do it again.

I'm absolutely sure there hasn't been a day since she sold it that I haven't thought of the place. Usually just a passing thought or memory, but today it's like someone put a screensaver of memories on in my head and I can't turn it off. So it's been an odd day; ok at times and sad at others. I had the opportunity to come up to tell a friend how I saved a screech owl with a broken leg and that was a very happy memory. So they've not been all sad today. I guess some days I think I'm realizing how much of my life has passed already and I want to play the memories over and over, each with its attendant feelings.

Anyway, mostly just thinking "out loud". Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I will 404 everything you hold dear! Prepare to be pwnced!

Where DID you find that avatar!?

I assume you were perusing the new Starfinder avatars and couldn't resist a new alias.

That's a very old avatar of a warforged from Eberron. Just filter the search for "Construct."

Every 3,000 miles, per the manufacturer's instructions. Maybe I need to flush out the cushions...
