^I'd love to hear what she comes up with! Here's a picture of her, for reference :)
So far I've gotten a few food suggestions (Oreo, Cookie, Cream, Milkshake), Chairman Meow, YinYang, Scarface, 'name her after a valkyrie 'cause she's got a scar on her nose', Catarina, and Eclipse.
Pfff...that's no name for a cat!
Now Meowssolini...

*Bonks his Evil alias on the head*
Now, lets not burden a future beloved pet with such a name...
Valkyrie names that might fit - Kára (wild one), Róta (sleet storm), Hildr (fight or battle) or Skuld (often means debt).

Black-eye Susans have some surprisingly sharp stems.
The funny part was it was my first day and my boss had left me to clean up the flower bed, and at some point while reaching down i got the loose stem stuck into the middle of my forehead and didn't notice and my boss came back, so i gave him the status report and the whole time he's staring at my forehead, and after i finish he says "you, uh, got something right there"

My all-time least favorite thing to plant...
Colorado Blue Spruce!
It seems everyone wants at least three of the largest ones planted and then they have little to no top soil, so i'm literally digging out a four foot diameter hole with a g@#++*n pickaxe.
Also i'm allergic to spruce trees.
I also hate Barberries and Mistletoe.

This summer I learned that no matter that a KOA is just down the road, someone is gong to bring their very not happy child to the campground (Wilmington Notch) that I stay at when I fly fish the Ausable river.
I have nothing against children, it is when they get dragged places and then scream about it that bugs me.
Thankfully I can hop in my truck, get some coffee, and be on the river fishing before the little dears even awake.

Hey TL,
I think my depression has worsened to a degree, or at least taken over more of my personality in the last few months. The only thing I look forward to is GMing PF and being a player in the very rare games where I get to be on that side of the screen.
But overall, I think I'm just losing interest in television totally. I have Netflix, and there's so much on there that I really liked; the Marvel shows, the Defenders, documentaries, etc. And the CW hero shows. I only watch Flash now, and I hope I can keep interest in it this fall.
The chronic pain I live with daily is getting worse, which I think is the root cause of the increased depression. I'm far from a danger to myself (never have been, except for being a klutz) so there's no need to worry about that. I just need to find another solution to the opioids I've been taken for so long. I don't think they're effective anymore, or at least not nearly so much so, and while I'm not addicted to them, I have to have them because they're the only thing that comes close to easing the pain I deal with. I spent the entire weekend barely able to walk (even had to call my son who lives 20 minutes away to come walk the dogs once because of it). The pain will let up after awhile (but it comes and goes).
So thanks for checking in on me. I'll be ok, just not watching as much tv. In theory this will give me more time to work on adventures (if I can stay off Facebook and the forums... LOL). I'll pull through, and it's good to have friends out there to watch my back, too.

This summer, I buried my mother. And I still don't know what to feel.
As someone who has lost both parents (quite a while back) I can tell you the hole in your heart never fully heals, it just gets easier to live with. The sadness persists a long time, and old habits are hard to deal with. My mom has been gone since 2002, and there are times I still think, "Hey, I should let Mom know about this" and I almost reach for the phone. My dad has been gone since 1985, and I still miss his corny jokes (he only knew about 5 and told them all the time).
So hang in there. You're feeling the typical things.

This summer the old lady down the street that calls me Steve (not my real name, nor is it close) has started calling our dog Nathan (not even close).
I grew up around an elderly lady we called Aunt Effie. She was quite a feisty old lady, about 4'10" and full of vim and vinegar. But she always called me "Richard". I learned to just accept it where she was concerned and never corrected her (I'm from the South. That would've been bad manners to some). So I gratefully accepted her birthday and Christmas gifts addressed to Richard and always signed my thank you cards with that name. Trying to get her to use my real name all the time would've just confused her, so we let it ride.

Well, detrimentally, I've discovered that eating takes my mind off the chronic pain temporarily. I already weigh in at a very unhealthy weight, but I just finished off half a strawberry dump cake at 3 am. For a little bit, at least, my mind was off the pain. Now I'll be up all night because I'm stuffed... lol.

Nice story, DungeonmasterRichard.

Well, I'm just an internet weirdo, but please keep us informed! Also, I'm glad you've got your son nearby!
Either way, we're all glad you're around, Richy! ;D

I've been called all sorts of things by people who supposedly knew my actual name.
Adrian
Christian
David
Ya'akov
All of which are wrong.
And, every few days or so, the female version of my first name.

I get Jeffery (my given name, but ONLY my mother may call me that)
But a bunch of folks have decided my name is Jess Harris, eh, close enough, if Jayne Cobb can deal, so can I, Jess is neutral enough.
Glad to hear you are holding fast Cal...though maybe a slightly healthier take mind off of pain snack...almonds perhaps?
I don't think a cake prescription, while delicious, is doable long term ;)

Hey, Cal.
As someone who also has chronic pain (arthritis, spine/knees predominantly, but on bad days it's *everywhere*) and depression issues (probably genetic, but being 42 with daily pain sure doesn't make me want to skip and giggle), I totally understand the sugar cravings. It tastes so good, plus there's the endorphin boost.
But I've also discovered that a lot of sugar takes my pain level through the effing roof by the next morning, which makes me more depressed, which makes me want more sugar.
(True confessions: I made pancakes for dinner last night for my kids, and I had a glass of wine with my pancakes, because I thought it would pair nicely with the strawberry rhubarb jam.)
So... yeah. Clearly I am not too bright.

Do you have any idea how long it's been since I had strawberry rhubarb anything? Now I'm gonna have to go on a quest! We used to have a little restaurant here that made strawberry rhubarb pie that was to die for, then it closed without warning. There was wailing and gnashing of teeth.
And you sound pretty bright to me. I would never have thought about the connection between the sugar and feeling worse the next day. Guess it's 3 am salads for me from now on.
