I love the huge plethora of species available for players though, they nailed that right away.

When I was a kid, school started on the fourth Monday in September. For my kids in the same school district, it's the fourth Monday in August. The big difference being that they get a lot more holidays, and two additional weeklong breaks.

Personally, I like a longer school year with more holidays within the year.

Shadow Lodge

Huh, we didn't get a lot of holidays. Just the usual ones: one day for Labor Day, three days for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas and New Years, one week for Spring Break, and one day for Memorial Day.

I was home schooled so time off was purely theoretical.

I did take drivers ed at public school though, that was awesome.

This summer I personally set my industry back thousands of years.

By using ancient building techniques with modern tools.

Hey, whatever works. :)

This summer I've probably earned about 4-6 thousand dollars...but spend probably close to 1-2 due to expenses and lifestyle.

Man, do I miss summer, and spring, and even winter.

Know I know what it must be like on Triaxus.

Last night I took the trash out, which is about 5 feet from our back door, and I almost froze to death.

I remember the glory days of last winter, when I was getting yelled at for walking around outside barefoot.

This (upcoming) summer if anyone complains about having to work in hot weather I'll point to this week as the reason I buried them in that hole.

And what's worse? The fact that I'm waking up to -17°F this morning (worse further north - that's not disputed) or the fact that on Sunday we're supposed to see 55°F and then drop back down to single digit temperatures again?

Ridiculous. Pick a temperature and stay there for a while. Mother Nature needs to lay off the gin.

This winter I learned I work harder than a fireman, concrete worker, and professional frisbee golfer.

I'm really impressed by the professional frisbee golfer.

Wait...I'm not sure that was the right word...

My favorite part was when he said his second job was as a professional athlete and I asked what sport and he said "frisbee golf".

My favorite response to anyone calling themselves a "professional" anything is, "Oh, so you make 100% of your annual income from that activity and associated perks such as advertising contracts?"

That usually shuts them up.

My favorite was one of Impus Major's friend's dads, who calls himself a "professional cyclist".

"Oh, how much money did you earn cycling last year?"
"Oh, nobody pays me. I actually spent a few thousand dollars promoting bicycling and going to bicycling events."
"Doesn't that make you a 'fan', not a 'professional'?"

Not only did he not respond, but he hasn't discussed bicycling with me at all since then...

These days, people like to replace, "It's a hobby of mine," with, "I'm a professional xxx."

I do not approve.

I'd like to move somewhere that doesn't have Winter. The aches and pains that I feel this year seems to have increased since last Winter. I miss warmth.

I don't miss summer. I just miss having reasons to stay indoors...and winter helps with that. Summer less so...

Arizona. According to my sister-in-law, it hasn't gotten below 50.

I have mild claustrophobia so staying inside all year round just doesn't do it for me.

Even today, with temps hovering around -10 degrees I still walked to the store, three miles round-trip.

My claustrophobia only comes on when I'm stuck in less than 2 rooms.

... Are we there yet?...

Are we there yet?

There is no 'there', there.

Are we here yet?

Wherever you go, there you are!

Turn left!... No, right!... Wait, where are we?...

The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legends fade to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the third age by some, an Age yet to come, an age long pass, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning

So I think we're there...

Can we stop so I can pee?

No. You'll have to poke it out of the gunner's observation slit and hope we're not driving into the wind.

Dammit.

There's a hole!? I thought I had to use the Folgers can!

Damn, we're gonna need more coffee!

This summer, I learned there are just some things you shouldn't catapult yourself face first into (any thing, you shouldn't catapult yourself face first into anything).

I also learned if you're bleeding profusely from your face during rush hour absolutely no one, not even a sheriff's deputy, will stop and ask if you're alright.

In fairness, I was in a small conservative town and I DO look like a hippie

So it's barely been a month and I'm already missing winter...

Whoa now, we don't need to go there!

It's been a difficult spring, but I love summer too much to ever wish for winter.

Even with my Frankenose.

You say that now. Wait until your house gets infested by insects/bugs/things you'd rather not crawl over your face and body at night...

That's what spiders are for.

Seriously, keep a population of daddy long legs in your house and you won't have to worry about getting overrun with insects.

And you can say whatever you want, summer's my season, there isn't a single thing you can say that will make me turn on summer, or EVER wish it was winter.

We had one 90F spike so far, but its been in the easy 70s for the rest of the month. I hope we keep it that way.

We've had a few days in the 90s so far here in Central Arkansas, but nothing drastic. We've had more rain this year than the last two or three combined, though, and the Arkansas River flooded several homes along its banks.

And to Captain, I'd never try to dissuade someone from loving summer. I feel the same about people trying to make me love it over winter.

Winter's cool, I'd like it more if it wasn't so long up here.

Sorry, that came off a bit strong last night, I'd never try to dissuade you from your favorite season, we all have our favorite jams. :-)

Over the intervening decades between my childhood and now I've experienced winters going from two to three snowfalls per season to none. Sure, there are still occasional decent amounts of snow, the last one being in 2012. I miss the winters from when I was a kid. Snow days from school, sledding on the hills behind my house, snow ice cream, all sorts of things. Now the season seems so much shorter with warmer weather coming earlier and earlier and sometimes bees coming out of hibernation before the flowers begin to bloom. It's a whole new world and I can't say I'm a fan.

Look I'm not going to convince Captain of anything. I know what. Just like I can't convince Freehold he's wrong about his music choices.

But for me, while I COULD get more daddy long legs spiders (they don't bother me) I doubt my Mom would like them. (She's not that fond of spiders...which is weird since she doesn't mind wasps like I do...)

Bees are helpful creatures that tend to leave well enough alone. Wasps are a--holes.

I'm more than willing to see a different perspective and I'm not afraid to admit I'm wrong.

So feel free to try to convince me, nothing is set in stone.

Captain,

I just figured I've already tried with some other things and failed. So I figured I'd stop while I'm ahead. Sort of.
