Hey, don't I know you from somewhere?

I think you know me from several places, Storyteller Shadow.

I'm reusing the alias, since I've just had it sitting around.

I think I will apply with this char.
A Gentleman, vendor of trinkets and artefacts of countries distant.
A clever man, well versed in the lore of magical items.
An occultist.

Heh I meant Weyland and Garran specifically. ;-)

Darla Spinner

Backstory:

Darla never knew her father. And her mother died from some illness when she was very young. If she has any other family, she’s never met them. Even the surname “Spinner” was just something she liked the sound of as a child.

Korvosa can be a harsh place. And with no one to take care of her, she was sent to live in an orphanage. She was barely there for a few months before she was abducted by Gaedren Lamm, a local thief and ne’er-do-well, who liked to steal children to make into his slaves. He put her to work doing menial things in exchange for food and shelter. At first she stayed out of fear. But, eventually, she stayed out of habit. She was much too young to survive on her own, and far too naïve to know a better way to live.

When she got a little older, Lamm trained her to be a thief. She had small, delicate hands that were just perfect for opening locks. And she did her job well enough at first. But eventually she began to feel guilty for taking things, and she would purposely mess up, if she didn’t think her mark deserved it. Lamm would beat her for these failings, but she was tough. She could take it.

But one night, Lamm followed her and caught her purposefully foiling a job to rob a couple with a newborn daughter. The mother had a lovely voice and would sing nursery rhymes that made Darla nostalgic. And so Darla didn’t have it in her to rob the family of what little wealth they had.

Lamm beat her viciously and left her for dead. She spent a week, sleeping on the street, licking her wounds. And by then she had discovered that the nice family had been murdered—Lamm’s petty revenge. Darla cried for hours that night. And by the next morning, she swore she would have revenge.

Were you planning on reusing the Weyland alias for the game?

I think I might for my human form ;-0

'Little' Jim:
'Little' Jim cuts a striking figure, very tall at 6'6 he's powerfully muscled, with a curious olive skin complexion and a roguish smile. There's a darkness to him, you could easily imagine him skulking in a litter strewn ghetto in Old Korvosa ready to crack some skulls. Kicker was he was doing it on Queen’s dime… Old Korvosan born and raised, a half cast not from the best of families, bit of a bruiser. But he washed up good. At his graduation Jim cut a dashing figure in uniform, oh so proud to be a member of Korvosan Guard! Part of the thin blue line sworn to serve and protect. Five years later you’d barely recognize him, working so deep undercover among the sleazy Korvosan underworld you’d have thought him a petty gang lord not a cop. Jim spent his waking hours fraternizing with the dregs of humanity: drunks, pimps, dealers, petty gang leaders, you name it. He held out for three long years, but you could barely make ends meet on a junior guard’s salary and he had bills to pay and he was dating that dashing blond Elana. The temptations were manifold, every vice and temptation was catered for in spades by the Korvosan underworld. In the end all it took was a quiet word here or a nod there about guard activities, nobody got hurt, least of all his wallet. It wasn’t like he was the only one either, the whole squad was on the take. Well looked after they were by Lamm, regular envelopes stuffed full of cash or pesh, free drinks and women drinks all night long in the old town’s bars and bordellos. Yeah Lamm owned Jim, or so he thought. Thing is Jim was always sentimental at heart, and he’d come to realize he’d become everything he hated. He always knew Lamm was a psycho, but the events of eighteen months ago where something else. It started as it always does as an argument over money, one of working girls had been holding out on her pimp, Lamm wanted blood. Jim and his partner Marek just had to look the other way while some goons taught her a lesson. Jim wasn’t cool with that, especially when he found out the girl Nell had a little boy who was sick and needed medicine. That day Jim didn’t look the other way, Nell was saved and the goons were arrested. Of course this had consequences… Suddenly internal affairs was very interested in Jim, the extra money stopped, the guard let him go, his landlord evicted him, Elana dumped him. To cap it all one afternoon he returned to the homeless shelter he’d been staying in to find it crawling with guards. A woman, Nell as it happened, had been found dead in his bed and he was the prime suspect. Luckily for Jim he had a cast iron alibi, he’d been spending a lot of time in the temple of Saranrae atoning for his sins and the case was thrown out. Of course Lamm wasn’t the type to let things slide and more often than not, Jim found himself watching over his shoulder, knowing that at some point the crime lord and his gonna would come to finish the job.

Probable Build direction:
I'm thinking eldritch heritage
(orc) feat chain, and pummeling style chain.

Personality and Background:
Jim's father is human cobbler called Micha, his mother the half orc Daridella who used to be a florist before she retired. They have a hovel in a bad part of Old Korvosa. Jim was taken aged ten to see a shaman for a blessing by Daridella. It was the only time he'd been out of the city. The shaman inked a howling woolf on Jim's back, a totem important to his mother, one that was supposed to bring good fortune.

Jim is a few months shy of 30, world weary and cynical, still leaving the guard and volunteering at temple did him a power of good. He's begun to feel that maybe there is something worth living for after all.

I'd like to submit Edita Zaqawi.

Background:
Edita was born and raised among wagons, songs and bright-coloured dresses. Although she is a full-blooded Varisian girl, she always felt a bit ... off. The ever-changing life of a nomad seemed to not fully satisfy her. Because of this she often got into arguments with her family and finally ran away at a very young age.
Eventually, she found her way to Korvosa and a certain man named Gaedran Lamm. Lamm got her addicted to better control her, for he saw tremendous magical talent in Edita.
A few years later though, she broke free from Lamm and opened a small fortune Tellers shop in Korvosa. Although today she is more of a therapist than a true soothsayer. She tries to help people better their lives through sensitive talk, because her magic powers are still underdeveloped.

Rough Build:
Human Tattooed Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline - Bronze), Lawful Good

- Will have an emphasis on blasting, divinations and some control spells
- Campaign-Trait: Addict

Alright, I think I might have a good idea, I've finished the fluff I just need to make the crunch. Unchained Rogue with the Makeshift Scrapper archetype (it's compatible with URogue), but her day job is as a physician. Signature move: striking somebody over the top of the head with her healer's kit, as an improvised light mace. When that's infeasible, pair of daggers, since Finesse Training only applies to a single type of weapon at lv 3.

@DM: how do you handle item crafting and PCs owning a business (a small alchemy shop)?

I think there's a something somewhere that allows you to treat one handed slashing weapons as Finneseable, I believe it was called "Slashing Grace" but I can't remember what it's from... Hmm

@Yolkaboy: Same rules as most downtime. I expect you to have pertinent skills and such, as well as afford to buy the place you sell this all from. However that last part can easily be explained that because if the horrendous taxes and fees, as well as the efforts of the gangs, you've had to sell it away...

@Those who suggested archetypes: I'll let them go, so long as you know you won't break anything

Yep, slashing grace is teh one you was thinkin' about. Did kinda get errataed too with the second print to the ACG, if'n I recalls correctlys. ;)

Slashing Grace actually applies Dex to damage, not to hit and doesn't apply if you are wielding two weapons. There is a feat but it is third party from Path of war called Daisho Expertise. It increases the damage die of wakisashi and katana, allows you to use dex for attack rolls with them, and counts as weapon finesse.

If you don't want to allow finessible katanas, that's ok. I'll figure something else out. I just though I would ask.

Sovereign Court

If you Variant Multiclass as a fighter, at level 11 you get weapon training. That + samurai's effective fighter level for feat pre-reqs should let you take Advanced Weapon Training, one choice of which is to finesse a normally non-finessable weapon. Long road, though.

I'm not too concerned. I'll either try and work to get more strength, take the exotic weapon prof feat for aldori dueling sword (and call it a katana), or just dual wield wakisashi instead. I just hate spending a feat on EWP.

Sovereign Court

If you don't mind a dip you could just take 4 levels of fighter (weapon master) straight up for the advanced weapon training. Dual wakizashi is a fine way to start off and then switch at a higher level - lots of builds work that way.

Daisho Expertise, from Dreamscarred Press' Path of War:Expanded may be of interest to you,and maybe help make stomaching EWP a little bit easier,if it's allowed, of course.

Edit: Whoops. Kyoden beat me to it by a good margin.

Silver Crusade

Do you allow Gestalt, if so-multi-classing with gestalt

As far as Alchemists, do you adhere to race restrictions on Discoveries, if so would the adopted trait qualify one race to take another race's restricted discovery

Is a Blue too much of an outrageous race

This thing is barely Pathfinder as it is. No need to powergame this.

Yes, Still alive, and still interested.

Gestalt is generally reserved for games in which players are only playing gestalt games, not accompanying other, non gestalted players. Gestalt changes so many assumptions of the base game that you've got to completely rebalance encounters.

Silver Crusade

ok sorry, new to online campaigning, only been in one and one guy didn't even show up, one dude didn't post for a week, and then everyone just stopped playing...I been playing Pathfinder for years at home but never ran into gestalt and found a new toy to play with...

Sovereign Court

IRL, one of my players has saved himself alot of trouble with path of war. On more than one occasion he's instantly killed an encounter boss, triggering morale victory and such, and all he did was counterattack when the boss crit him.

I admit, Path of war is interesting, I haven't used it much but I'll be willing to allow POW, for now...

Ooh, path of War is on the table? I may have an idea for a Mystic (Knight-chandler) using something potentially interesting. I'll keep it a surprise until I figure out whether it will work or not.

Still working on my submission, I should have something up tomorrow, was half asleep when I started it on Friday and never got a chance to get back to it ;-)

Ok I think I've worked out my submission. I may go back and make some minor adjustments. Here he is, Kyoden Goju, the Teisatsu Vigilante who goes by the name, "The Oni" If you have any questions, let me know.

Never tried path of war, although it seems neat after a quick look. For those who are more familiar with it, is there any need to adjust a regular level 1 pathfinder martial build if path of war is on the table?

This is a relevant question, since Garran here is just a Fighter, albeit one with Combat Stamina and will be taking various Advanced Weapon and Armor Trainings.

I just wanted to poke this to see if this was still going on. I know the DM said work just got busy and hes moving but its been a few days since anything.

Hopefully so. We have a few days till Recruitment ends, so hopefully this is just a temporary lull. I was actually debating about bumping the Recruitment thread up so it didn't get buried.

Sovereign Court

As I recall the DM posted:

DM waz up? wrote:
Recruitment will be open to the 30th.

Would you allow a weapon created by the weapon creation system from the weapon master handbook?(for a tinkerer alchemist)

I will try and get something up tonight been a busier week for me than I expected...

Been all over the place with character concepts for this but it's getting down to the wire, so I finally settled on embracing some Harrow Deck/card throwing magus action (with a dash of bladed scarf use for close combat and full Varisian effect).

Here is Mivaela, a human magus living on the streets and seeking revenge on Gaedren Lamm for kidnapping her, forcing her to work for him, and just being an all around awful person. He's the worst! :)

Thank you for the consideration!

I don't think I'll be able to submit anything till tomorrow and of course then it is too late.

Perhaps next time!

Sovereign Court

I'm back, and due to the rather slowness of things, I'm gonna extend the recruitment to the 4th, that way y'all can get stuff all finished up and it gives me more time to contemplate while I'm between houses.

Cool!

Will wrap the submission up tomorrow.

Just need to finish gear.

Will have character done tonight

Character is ready to go and thank you for the consideration.

Will try my luck with this character

DESCRIPTION

fluff:

Samantha grew up in her father's workshop. Her earliest memories all involve the smells of an alchemist's laboratory.

She started helping in the lab and shop as soon as her father deemed her old enough. It was not unusual to see young Sammy missing an eyebrow or two. Even at a young age she preferred the lab to being outside and dealing with people.

This quiet life came to an end when Samantha was called to identify a dead body and it turned out to be her father. With her father dead and her mother unknown, her father never talked much about her, the only thing she had left was the shop.

The first thug that though that getting protection money from the orphaned girl would be easy was tought the error of his assumption when Samantha poured oil over him and tried to punch him with her hand set ablaze with alchemist's fire.

She soon acquired a reputation as a capable alchemist with a low tolerance for any kind of nonsense involving her shop.

The first time in years that she planed to leave the store for more than a few hours came when she found a hint of her father's murderer.  Samantha armed herself for war, locked down the lab and the shop, set all the traps.

Personality:
Curious, inquisitive
Views most people as incompetent idiots
A bit shy

Looks:
Short black hair with a pair of tiny horns peeking through, red eyes and slightly flanged teeth.
Average hight, fair skin (a few discolored patches on her hands)

Sooooo... waz' up? :D

Is this still a thing?

I believe the DM is moving so he should turn up within the next few days and finalize Recruitment.

Sovereign Court

The other Crimson Throne recruitment just ended with its picks; I hope this one is still going.

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I'm withdrawing my character application for my Tiefling Vigilante. I was accepted for one of the other Crimson Throne recruitment so it's only fair to bow out here.

Yeah, I decided to GM a new game. And so I need to bow out of this game as well. Good luck, everyone else.

Sorry I think I'm going to pass on this one too. I ended up impulse buying the newer version of the AP and I think want to run it myself later in the year.
