DC Comics Will Reveal The Joker's Identity

Ye gods, no! That's a terrible idea.

Liberty's Edge

No biggie. No matter what they reveal, it will be retconned as a trick or rewritten within 10 years the next time they reboot the universe.

Sovereign Court

Haven't they already done that a few times?

I no longer care what DC does. I'm really just interested in the Arrowverse these days.

I say it is Joe Chill's son.

Liberty's Edge

It's Martha Wayne.

It can only be Bruce Wayne^^

How about Bruce Wayne's half brother?
We really don't know too much about Thomas Wayne.
Only Bruce's idolized version of it.
Maybe Joe Chill killed Thomas and Martha Wayne because his wife was pregnant with Thomas' child.

Lots of possibilities.

Silver Crusade

It was Alfred in one continuity wasn't it?

*shrug* the universe is rebooting in a few.

Scarab Sages

It's the Red Hood. Or Not. Does it matter?

Liberty's Edge

Ooooh, oooh...

It's Zack Snyder!

He is a spiderman clone?

The fact that this is some big surprise for Batman, and that there's even an identity to reveal, in my opinion is a mistake. Part of the fear around the Joker is that he was a nobody beforehand. As a quote of his goes: "All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest of men to lunacy. That's how far removed I am from the rest of the world. Just one bad day." From Nobody To Nightmare, as the trope would be called.

So there is in fact hope that within everyone lies the potential to be someone dynamic, driven, and interesting?

Somehow, my mind's eye sees Snyder as saying "I think this 'Grave of the Fireflies' film is pretty good, but it needs to be darker..."

Pretty much. Simultaneously inspiring and terrifying, for the Joker shows that you could attain the highest of heights, or fall to the lowest of lows.

What if, under the makeup, there's only a mask?

I feel like this could be an excellent hype-building trolling opportunity.

Will be retconned like Catwoman having a kid.

PREDICTION:

"I know who you are, Joker! You're the man who killed my parents!"

...

...

"No, Batman...*I* am your parents."

...

...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!! Like...really. You can't be both of them, that's just stupid...and Harley Quinn has to be about Robin's age, give or take, and she's got a pretty well-documented history anyway, so never mind that idea...do you mean, like, metaphorically, because your killing my parents did more to define my life than their initially raising me...? No, that doesn't sound like you, you're not big on schmaltzy metaphors...."

...

...

"Search your heart. You know it to be true."

...

...

"What the - what does that even mean?!? I'm the World's Greatest Detective, you a@~$+#!, I don't 'listen to my heart,' I use empiricism, deductive reasoning, and exhaustive research...!'"

...

...

"Join me, and together, we can rule this galaxy as parents and son!"

...

...

"Alright, now you're losing me...and since when have you even *wanted* to 'rule' anything...???"

It could seriously just be another Clayface trolling as the Joker, especially since Hush never happened in the New 52.

Clearly, the Joker is just a patsy~! We've all been so blind!

Please, please, please do not let it be a member of the Wayne/Bat family. That would just be too stupid for words.

Liberty's Edge

Clearly, it's Commissioner Gordon's evil twin.

No stupider than when it's been done that way before.

My money's on him being Steve Miller.

True, but that is just lazy writing simply done for the shock factor of it...which admittedly sums up most Marvel/DC storylines for the past decade or more, but still.

Are you sure? I thought there was one of the universes where Bruce Wayne was inspired by a flock of pompati...

I see Snyder reading Sophocles and thinking "ugh, why do all these plays need to be so HyperGrimDark all the time? Why couldn't the Greeks just write light, happy fluffy stories like ME?"

Anyhow, less than a week to go until the big reveal! I'm a little excited, but mainly terrified by how many buildings will be destroyed by nerds on rampages:)

No matter what though, I will always believe that the Joker is really Freehold DM.

There's a rumor floating around there is MORE than one Joker apparently.

Grey,

The hack off my own face got his face back later. But yeah I heard the same thing too.

That would involve a subsequent "What-a-twist!" reveal that Martha Wayne & Dr. Thomas Wayne were actually Alton Brown and Joss Whedon.

Besides, if Freehold is anyone in the Batverse, he's the (Michael Ansara-voiced) Victor Fries from Batman: The Animated Series.

Wait, at which part? 'Cause Michael Ansara and Victor Fries from B:TAS were pretty damn cool awesome.

Edit: Would you prefer Captain Cold instead? I could accept that pending photographic/video evidence of your ability to chew scenery (ex) at will and how well you can smirk while enjoying a stolen mug of cocoa.

What if it's Kim Basinger.
