As I said, a self-upgrading droid sounds awesome for me. Since you guys are all talking force sensitive and force happy Jedi, Sith, and Imperial Knights, it will be nice to have someone who knows how to pilot a ship, fire a blaster, and keep this Space Opera in outer space!

Depends on the adventure. My Sith Operative would be a non-Force Sensitive Noble with a lot of those skills, and my idea for an Imperial Knight actually starts by using Soldier as his first class, which allows for a bit more versatility. Heck, even my Sith idea dabbles in Scoundrel.

I don't mind delaying access to Force Powers if there are aspects of other classes that fit the character I'm making.

Ravingdork, I don't think we've been told character creation details yet. Mainly, we've been working on deciding what kind of campaign it will be.

Dark Archive

1, 2, 4 or maybe 6 sound interesting.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

Depends on the scenario. So will wait for at least the theme and level to be decided before I choose what to play.

Scarab Sages

Same. I think I'd have to wait to see what the premise of the game is before investing in a character concept.

It really doenst matter to me, I prefer force using character though.

Dark Archive

I would be mostly interested in the Jedi party and then the Sith in second... apart from that, I have interest in a bounty hunter, able to work for any of the concepts (except for the droid party, which I'm not really not interested).

Also, when the character discussions start, will we be able to submit more than one PC? Like for two different parties, even if we only get selected for one, or we must pick just one and hope for the best?

I think it would be helpful if we knew scenario in order to begin design.

INTEREST CHECK CLOSED

That is 12 applicants, more than enough.

In about 20 minutes, I will reveal more.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Final Tally

1. The Galactic Alliance Remnant – 5. (F. Castor & Redbeard & thezero & Curtisin & spinningdice)

2. The Empire in Exile of Roan Fel – 10. (F. Castor & Quen & Loup & Redbeard & thezero & Phntm888 & Curtisin & Spazmodeus & Ravingdork & spinningdice)

3. The Galactic Empire of the Sith – 9. (Loup & aptinuviel & Redbeard & thezero & Phntm888 & Curtisin & Spazmodeus & Ravingdork, sirlongears)

4. The Jedi Order – 8. (Quen & aptinuviel & Loup & Curtisin & Spazmodeus & Ravingdork & spinningdice, sirlongears)

5. Yuuzon Vong – 0.

6. The Droids – 1. (spinningdice).

Corrected and updated.

6. Quen,
7. Ravingdork,
8. Redbeard,
9. SirLongears,
10. Spazmodeus,
11. Spinningdice
12. thezero

It appears that Roan Fel’s Empire has the most interest for you all followed by the Sith and then the Jedi. The Yuuzon Vong reputation for being hated it seems holds very true with the members of this Board! 

I am willing to do one of the following three scenarios:

1. Take 6 applicants for 1 group,
2. Take 12 applicants for 2 groups of 6, or
3. Rake 12 applicants for 3 groups of 4.

I imagine most of you would prefer options 2 or 3.

The Plot

Popara the Hutt has navigated safe passage through the Indexu Spiral a mass of protomatter, cometary debris, and asteroid fields that snake through the Tion Cluster.

Popara is willing to sell this information in exchange for a “favor”.

All parties listed above would like to acquire that information for different reasons (obviously).

It is up to the party(ies) to meet with the Hutt, ascertain what he wants in exchange for the information and complete the task he assigns in order to acquire the information.

This plot is based on a module but will be slightly altered, no I won’t tell which one, if you know what it is keep it under your blast shields.

All characters will be 8th level.

As we are in the Legacy Era, all books are legal. Though I would appreciate it if you would reference what book (outside of the Core book) you take a Prestige Class, Feat, Talent Tree, or Power from.

25 Point Buy.

Max HP at first level, roll for every level thereafter. If you roll a 1 on your HP, I will give a free re-roll.

BEFORE you start statting away. Vote for one of the choices above and select the top group you are interested in. Once those groups are formed, then you can start statting away.

This game will likely take a few weeks to get off the ground with character building and the end of the Holidays and what not.

My current plan is to run this module, from there, we will see what happens.

PvP

There is a strong element of PvP possible here. Sith and Jedi obviously will loathe one another. Just be prepared for that.

Thank you all for your interest.

Dark Archive

Great!

I vote for option 3, since it would allow (in theory) two groups competing for the alliance of the third, which would be awesome! Also, I prefer smaller groups, so 4 is better than 6.

My preference going in this order:

1-Jedi
2-Sith
3-Roan Fel's Empire

I would also vote for option 3. My preference is as follows:

1. Sith
2. Empire in Exile
3. Jedi/GAR

The three way battle, I think, would be highly intriguing, especially if two factions can ally against the third.

I am also well aware that by choosing Sith, I could easily end up on the side without an ally.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

Option 2 - Imperial Knight for me please. ;)

Sir Longears - Jedi.

Phntm888 - Sith.

Curtisin - Imperial Knight.

The group is already forming around party lines nicely :-)

Legacy Era Sourcebook has an Imperial Knight PrC do you have access to it Curtisin?

I know some people want to be Droids and Tech Specialists and Scoundrels so we should have well rounded parties as well.

The Gameplay Thread

The Gameplay Thread will be for characters working on behalf of Roan Fel's Empire in Exile.

The Discussion thread will be for characters working on behalf of the Sith Empire.

The Recruitment Thread will be for character working on behalf of the Jedi Order.

This will keep thread maintenance easier for me as GM.

It will also allow you all to move between threads as necessary a bit easier without having thread clutter.

Any OOC Discussion within each thread just Spoil so there will not be OOC cluttering up Gameplay.

Let's finalize character creation here then once characters are done you can dot the thread.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

I do indeed. I have all the Saga books, just need to dig them out. And it is that PrC that I'll be aiming for, though I need to look at the build first. :)

One more adjustment. Each PC will get an extra Trained Skill at first level.

There is a Tech Specialist web enhancement that will be legal for those who wish to go that route.

Ooh, I definitely agree with the previous statements about three groups. Should be a great time.

Now I just need to decide on what to play! Ugh. Honestly, since I have time and I love making characters, is it okay if I draw up different concepts for each group, and then present them or just go wherever there's an opening? At the very least I need to work it out on my own, but I want to keep up here with interest!

Loup Blanc wrote:

Sure, that seems fine to me.

Hmm... I was not expecting such a high level to begin with, though it is understandable given the nature of PbPs. Still, I will have to think about it a little. I will get back to you.

Dark Archive

Can I just clarify the factions?
Jedi - All Jedi class? or is it Jedi and their allies/agents
Sith - Not sure how Sith are usually modeled in Saga, are they usually done as Jedi, but using the Dark Side? and again, is it purely Sith or Sith agents?

Empire in Exile - Probably the choice I'm most interested in anyway...

Good question spinningdice.

If you wish to be part of the Jedi faction but non Jedi that is fine. I don't want payers feeling compelled to play one thing if they want to play something else.

Sith start out as Jedi and take PRC'S to become Sith though right out of the gate you can take Dark Side powers. It is an oddity but I think they were looking to streamline the game from a development standpoint vs d20 star wars.

A bit about me.

I have been running and playing D&D since I was 12. In high school I ran a 2ed Ravenloft campaign off and on as players were interested and available.

In college I ran a VAMPIRE the Masquerade game with the characters playing through snapshots of time from 1190 to 2000.

Since 2002 Table Top I have run:

A 3.0/3.5 Forgotten Realms campaign from 1st to 37th level utilizing various 2ed and 3ed modules as well as home brew adventures.

The Age of Worms (plus other side quests) with the characters topping out at to 24th level.

I now run a Waterdeep based campaign with the players at 7th level having just arrived at New Waterdeep in Maztica.

Since 2012 here on the Boards I have run:

A V20 Dark Ages game on the boards for 3+ years currently with 13 players one from each Clan.

I stepped in to DM a 5E Ravenloft campaign when the DM disappeared.

A Way of the Wicked game which two other DM's vanished from.

A Call of Cthulhu campaign Beyond the Mountains of Madness.

A Rise of the Runelords campaign (which has only recently started).

And now this.

I also play in about 20 other campaigns. Some of them with a number of you!

Point being I have been doing this for a while and I will not vanish as I have seen many DM's on these boards do.

Jedi for me. It would be fun to play a knight. The highest I have gotten is 5th level with this character for a DoD game and 13th with a 3.5 game.

Dark Archive

Currently looking at an Imperial Exile Agent (Scout - leaning on Spy/Surveillance talents - possibly looking towards Infiltrator PrC), maybe a Chiss, just because I quite fancy playing one, but I'll have to think about it.
Going to start Statting up, should be easy to adjust across to being a Sith Agent instead if I don't get into the Exiles group as my (limited) understanding is that they both operate fairly similarly, besides the light/dark split.

Jedi faction I'd probably just play a Jedi of some description, I'd have to think about it.

8th level is going to be a lot for me to bite off and chew. At first I was going to bow out, but, meh, I got a lot of free time to study the system when I'm not at work.

I currently only have the core book, but I wouldn't mind picking up the PDF of anything else that might be helpful to a droid that's looking to upgrade himself a lot. Seems like, per Loup's suggestion, a tech expert might be the way to go.

If anyone is good at chargen that wants to give me a hand, I'd appreciate it. I haven't actually played SW Saga Edition, but I'm really familiar with d20 in general, so it's not a huge jump...but...you know, do something, do it right, eh?

I think my order of preference would be:
Imperial>Sith>Jedi

...frankly because I think as a droid it would be easier to justify working for the government proper, and that seems to be the order of legitimacy. I can tote the fascist "well, you crack a few eggs to make an omelette" line as a computer brained entity easier than I can the "but they're EVIL" line of the Jedi.

I ordered the Droid book, when it comes in i can post in the Campaign Tab some things I think would be useful.

No rush, will take everyone time to get these characters off of the ground.

Dark Archive

The Droids book has a completely different way (as another option) of creating droids, where there is a droid "race" and then customize from there. Keeps things closer to how standard characters work. Not really tried it out though.

It leaves the standard and custom droid methods available as well. I usually just find a droid model I like, then use custom droid to build it from the ground up (mostly so I don't have to mess about with existing class/nonheroic levels etc).

I just want to become an unholy atomoton of death, like a robot eidolon. Is that so much to hope for? Ha!

When are you looking to start?

Dark Archive

In my quest for more skills, is it possible when multiclassing to select Skill Training in one of the new classes class skills instead of the standard bonus feats?

Going Scout and taking a dip in either Noble or Scoundrel, at least in part to pick up Deception, but adding new skills in this version is a pain.

Basing yourself on IG-88 or a droideka stat blocks may not be a bad idea, then. Both of them could be considered unholy automatons of death. The IG-100 Magnaguard stats may not be a bad idea, either.

You'll probably want to use Soldier as a class, maybe shooting for Elite Trooper as a PrC. The Force Unleashed guide has an "Independent Droid" PrC, as well, which you may be interested in.

Dark Archive

"Scavenger's Guide to Droids" has the option of using droids as relatively standard races representing broad classes of droid, so you have (for example)
BATTLE DROID
CHASSIS TRAITS
All battle droids have the following chassis traits :
Ability Modifiers: +2 Dexterity, - 2 Intelligence. Battle droids are
designed for combat, incorporating systems to improve their dexterity. Like other droids, battle droids have no Constitution score.
Size : Battle droids are typically of Medium size, gaining no onuses or penalties for their size. .
Speed: Battle droids have a base speed of 6 squares and use walking locomotion.
Droid Traits: Battle droids are fourth-degree droids and have all droid immunities and typical droid traits (see pages 187-188 of the Saga Edition core rulebook).
Bonus Equipment: Battle droids are constructed with the following droid
systems installed in each: walking locomotion, plasteel shell (+2 armor), basic processor, internal com link, locked access, 2 hand appendages, and vocabulator.

You can swap out systems, if they're within 10% of the value of each other without cost, and spend your class starting money on further upgrades. It's a good simple method of doing it, if you just want a battle droid or whatever.

Just out of curiosity, are you not accepting new applicants, or were you just saying that this is officially a recruitment thread? I hadn't seen this until now, so I'm kind of hoping there's space open. I've been looking for a Star Wars game since VII came out. If there's a possibility of jumping in on this, I'd love to.

This is Soren from WotW, by the way.

Give me an example of what you are looking to swap out.

You are the second person to reach out to me after the fact.

Let me see if I can find one more to make it three groups of 5 players. That would be my limit though, this will be a tough juggle as it is :-)

Fair enough. If not, I'm more than willing to back out. Just curious. I'd be up for more or less any faction, but I've been enjoying the idea of playing a bad guy lately, so either of the Empires would be preferable. If they're full I'll work the Jedi, just figured I'd let my preference be known.

I prefer to let people play than not play so its not a big deal to add one more to each group. Besides, at least I know for sure I will get quality with you, if I did not I might not have said yes :-)

I have no hard deadline and I know that character building for some of these concepts will take some time. Plus not everyone has chosen an affiliation yet.

Let's say January 25 as a target date to have all Characters statted out and ready to go.

One very old and nearly useless protocol and tutoring droid coming up....

question is who needs one?

"Who are my charges?"

"Get your rest, tomorrow we will have a six hour assessment of your current level of educational attainment."

Venkru Vong wrote:

Based on your concept, as we discussed, I think you are the perfect fit for the Jedi team.

I think I will name my tutoring protocol droid.

AJTD 1. Or "AJ" or "training droid"

Any ideas for the alias? I am thinking this one:

AJTD1: "AJ" tutoring droid 1

If I may , I'll opt to join the Sith faction.
Target date of the 25th is nice, gives us a nice period to shape our characters.

So should we start making the faction that we requested?

Quen Pah wrote:

Yep, go ahead and make that Jedi!

The proper choice. If only the Jedi knew the POWER of the Dark Side.

Oh, by the way...

I am still trying to decide on the character and all, but if/when I manage to do so, I would be interested in the Jedi/Galactic Alliance Remnant/all-around-good-guy-faction.
