There are two ways that this can be run:
1. A single group accomplishing a task for a single Faction, OR
2. 2-3 Groups working against one another. This may literally become a PvP scenario.
The Factions:
1. The Galactic Alliance Remnant - The Rebel Alliance of the Legacy Era. [Any Class would be allowed in this group as the Jedi do provide guidance to this faction].
2. The Empire in Exile of Roan Fel - The former Emperor of the Galactic Alliance prior to its defeat which has defected from the Sith. [Force using Class here would be Imperial Knights. Any other classes are ok here].
3. The Galactic Empire of the Sith - Led by Darth Krayt, the Empire functions in a similar manner to the Empire under Palpatine. However, the Sith are more numerous as they were in the days of the Old Republic. [Sith or Agents of the Sith].
4. The Jedi Order - The Jedi Order is in hiding after being devastated by the Galactic Empire of the Sith, they seek a way to strike back and overthrow Krayt. [ALL Jedi].
5. Yuuzon Vong - Yes, love them or hate them, this is your chance to play one. [ALL Vong].
6. The ??? - Any ideas for another faction? Droids who seek to wipe out all these oppressor breathers? A Criminal Organization who wants to go "legit"? [This would be a party of ALL Droids or ALL Scoundrels].
If this is run as a single group, I will take 7 players.
If this is run a PvP, I will take either two groups of 4 or three groups of 3.
I know this sounds daunting. However, my Vampire game right here on these boards for the first 3 years had 7 players who would intersect at times but for the most part were separately seeking their own goals so I know how to run this style and run it well.
Please let me know what faction YOU would be interested in playing in.

How do you have the time???
LOL.
Cause I am pushing 40 and have a kid so I don't get out much lately :-)
Also, my posting rate is relatively slow vs other play by posts as I see finishing adventures as a marathon and not a sprint. I generally play my PbP games at work and run the ones that I DM home at night.
Venkru can attest to the fact that my Vampire game is pretty damn solid :-)

Oh man, I'd love the chance to play in a group of characters from either Empire. Doing something all-Jedi would also potentially be interesting, since it leads to some fun combo Force using and such, but I think a group of Sith operatives of Imperial agents could be super cool and very different from what you usually get a chance to play.
Storyteller Shadow |
A few summers ago I ran a one shot with two players as Sith and two players as Jedi. That is what gave me the idea for this format. All factions would be pursuing the same agenda and may intersect or not in achieving that agenda.
At the end of that adventure the Jedi defeated the Sith in combat. It was a pretty great night.

Hmm, a race for an artifact that would help end the wars? Lost technology, a holocron, something else? Or maybe trying to capture a strategic planet or system. That'd be interesting, reminds me of Galactic Conquest from SW Battlefront II. Of course, regardless of what ends up happening I'd love to be part of it.

I'll wait till gameplay starts to say. Each faction will want the ultimate reward for different reasons of course. And of course, the path to those rewards will come with much more difficulty than was previously thought!

I would be really interested. I have the Saga book but haven't gotten a chance to play. Sadly, my only familiarity with Star Wars is the movies, and the Clone Wars miniseries, as well as a handful of videogames (but not KotOR, oddly).
I've wanted to play a droid since...like...ever. If thats an option I'd be super psyched! Really, I wouldn't even care for what faction. I would love the fun of RPing how my heuristic processor justifies working for any side, frankly.
Gamemaster the Living Force |
A better Avatar as it looks like this will have some legs.
@Redbeard - Yes Droids are an option for any of the factions.
@Loup Blanc - Even when the Sith involved are other Sith!
1. The Galactic Alliance Remnant - 0.
2. The Empire in Exile of Roan Fel - 2. (Quen & Loup)
3. The Galactic Empire of the Sith - 2. (Loup & aptinuviel)
4. The Jedi Order - 2. (Quen & aptinuviel)
5. Yuuzon Vong - 0.
6. The Droids - 1. (Redbeard)
As people chime in I will build up numbers in categories to get a sense of who is interested in what.
Redbeard the Scruffy |
Actually, to be honest, the all droid faction is the one I'd be the least interested in, even though I'd want to play a droid. I think a mixed human, alien, droid party would get the best RP in compared to a party of all droids. So, I think I would vote for 1, 2, or 3, as a droid can't be a Jedi and you said that was ALL Jedi and not agents, and I'm not familiar with the Bong, except my friends who read the books kinda said they're pretty vaguely destructive.
Loup Blanc |
Well, I don't think a droid would work well with a group of Yuuzhan Vong, since they're all about biotech. Although actually, a droid working with the species known for NOT using them would be neat. Still no Force in the whole party though.
I'd be up for the Jedi game as well as the other two I listed, myself. Just more intrigued by the possibility of playing the Sith. It's fun to be a morally ambiguous or corrupt guy sometimes.
Even when the Sith involved are other Sith!
Well said!

Loup Blanc wrote:Just more intrigued by the possibility of playing the Sith. It's fun to be a morally ambiguous or corrupt guy sometimes.Well I certainly agree with this statement. From a certain point of view, we are the heroes...
...You know, as much fun as I'll have playing a Sith or Imperial Knight, and as much as I protest the good things about the prequels, I think that's definitely a line we'd be better off pretending didn't happen.
Gamemaster the Living Force |
Well...great...now my obsessive need to delve into the lot of anything I play is gonna have me reading Star Wars wikis for weeks...because I'm not even sure what an imperial knight is...are those like neutral force wielders?
Not a bad description. They are Force wielders dedicated to the Emperor not to any Order.
They shy away from the Dark Side and are more focused on the martial aspect of the Force.
Gamemaster the Dark Side |
If we went Sith I think that he would be a big devotee of Palpatine and would try to get his lightsaber, one of the legacy items from the book.
This particular adventure would prevent that quest.
However, when we finish the adventure I have in mind and if everyone wants to keep playing then I will pose some questions to ascertain what the group would want to see next.
That's a pretty cool plot point though especially in light of certain recent stuff...
Redbeard the Scruffy |
Whatever you folks keep yaddling on about the force. I'm gonna upgrade myself so much, the only original part that will remain will be my processor. (Or so, that's kind of what I want to do. We kill it, I install it into my body. Plug and play, as it were, ha! It's been quite a while since I read the Saga rules, so I don't remember if this is exactly possible, but, hey Grevious wasn't even totally robotic and he did that, so why can't I?)

So I hate to steal the GM's thunder or anything, but maybe we should start talking about character concepts and such? At least in terms of who might want to play what, and who might want to shoot for what game. Or something of that nature. Just to start looking at where folks might go and how characters might interact? Sorry if this thought is moving too fast, I'm just really excited by the possibilities here.

Definitely interested.
As I have this idea of playing a Force-sensitive Human Scoundrel (probably techie to start with, not sure though) whose mechanical choices as he levels up would depend on what happens to him in the game (may or may not work, but it is a little different for me than my more usual planned-out characters), and since I like both playing good guys and variety in a group, especially a Star Wars one, I would prefer option 1 (the Galactic Alliance Remnant).
Other than that, I could probably go with option 2 (the Empire in Exile of Roan Fel), as I am guessing they are sorta kinda neutral-ish "alignment"-wise?
Although I do very much like Jedi, I am not sure about an all-Jedi party (especially since the guy I am considering is not one, at least not to begin with), but I would be open to option 4 (the Jedi Order) if that is the prevailing preference.

Sure go ahead. This will give me an idea of whether this will be a single, double, or triple group...

I would very much like to play as well, seeing as I am a huge fan of Star Wars Saga and own all of the books. What level would we be starting at, and what are the character creation guidelines? I'm thinking I would like to build up to an old character I had, but never got to play: Marhu Sahn.
I suppose he could fit in with the Jedi, the Sith Empire, or as an Imperial Knight.
