Brother Maynard: Armaments, chapter two, verses nine through twenty-one.
Cleric: [reading] And Saint Attila raised the Ban Hammer up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy Ban Hammer, that with it thou mayst smash thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu...
Brother Maynard: Skip a bit, Brother...
Cleric: And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou lift thy Holy Ban Hammer. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then swingest thou thy Holy Ban Hammer of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
Brother Maynard: Amen.

They are here. Mostly in Paizo General Discussion and also in the Legendary Planet KS thread :-(
The latter is from the http://paizo.com/people/jameshoong1 non-person.
I swear, nothing is sacred anymore. That makes me sad.
Good thing to have a fanbase and forum community spread all over the timezones I guess ;-)

OK, so, woke up this morning, checked the boards, flagged & hid for about an hour. Now I'm taking a break for breakfast, then...I'll be back!
I just logged on to have a look, there are over 700 spam posts in General discussion in the last 5 hrs.
What have we poor gamers done to deserve this?
Oh, and Alex, take comfort in this: it's all a waste on their part: they're trying to up their Google hit count on legit sites for the various websites they're posting, however...according to out hardworking It/mods, Paizo blocks Google's count-bot for just that purpose.
No matter how much they fill and contaminate our boards, they get nothing out of it.

Do they know that though?
Y'know, I'm not sure that that doesn't make it worse, that its just getting in our way for no purpose.
Back to Flagging.

I'm not sure we even have a means of contacting the spammers to let them know it's a waste of time...

Petty revenge suggestion:
Whenever a post is deleted by the mods under "Breaks other guidelines", an automated email informs the poster that it has happened.
Couple of hundred "your post has been deleted" emails in their inbox might make them think twice.
On a more realistic note, yes, since the forum rules prohibit posting in languages other than English, auto-deleting posts with non-English characters might be worth the tech team's time.

It's petty, but I take some solace in the fact that they're spending money to waste their time.

I've been flagging, and saying 'Breaks Other Guidelines'. Is that correct? Or am I doing something incorrectly?
Yep, 'Breaks Other Guidelines' is correct.
Although, after the first 100 or so...you start wanting 'string of curse words they can actually see'.
OMG....
I'd just been flagging/hiding the first page in General Discussion, and I kept getting older ones, so I checked: 7 1/2 pages going back almost 8 hours!
:::cries:::
Back to wanting to nuke them from orbit. They're WORSE that telemarketers!

Actually would be not a bad idea, except for the problem that they probably used throw-away e-mail addresses(*) for this purpose, so they won't even notice the messages of which you speak.
(*)Or worse yet, stolen/hacked e-mail addresses

No, don't do that -- you'll hose half of the PbP threads, which very commonly use non-English (actually non-Roman) characters to represent speech or writing in exotic languages.

Can´t you just block korean IP´s?
That new spamwave is korean and most probably comes from there, as there most probably arent many Pathfinder Players (yet).
Not only that, but that would be one of the surest ways to ensure that you lose whatever Korean players you have and never get any more.

Well, a small number of them are using an international botnet. Most of them use an asian botnet.

I dont know how useful the community flagging is (or how long we'll need to keep it up).
If it's something we're going to need to do long term, it would be a nice feature if the posts we'd already flagged could be 'greyed out' or something. I generally just watch the sidebar and it's not too hard to keep on top of them as they come in. Nonetheless, there are times I open a post to flag it and realise I've already been there.
I doubt it's worth putting lots of effort into, but if it's easy...
