Holy symbol shields

Advice

Shadow Lodge

So, I wouldn't be surprised if this has already been asked and I apologize for rehashing, also I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

I'm trying to make a Paladin for the new core only system and I would like to know if I can have a holy symbol emblazoned on my shield and have it count as a holy symbol. I have a couple ideas on how to do this, but I don't know if they would be legal. First, I could pay for a holy symbol and a shield and say that the holy symbol is part of the shield, of course I would use the symbol type that corresponds to the shield type (wood symbol for a wood shield, steel symbol for a steel shield). The second option is to buy a vial of ink and say that my character painted the symbol on the shield. I would obviously have to take a craft or profession skill that would be able to do that, and I might be have to do it in view of a GM. I might also have to pay for a holy symbol as well as the ink, and I would be totally ok with that if I could add that flavor to my paladin.

So what do you guys think, is this possible and legal.

No rules for it in Core so you couldn't do it as RAW.

Silver Crusade

Light shield and a normal holy symbol seem to be a save bet, not that paladins actually need the damn thing most of the time. Usually when you cast have the time to cast spells, you are not in immediate combat.

Everything else like gluing it to the inside of your shield, is very much tablet to table variation.

Considering that it takes a Paladin spell to do this normally, I'd say the answer is no.

Shadow Lodge

for Core no ... Non Core there is Sanctified shield from the adventurers armory

Create Reliquary Arms and Shields feat

Add 250 gp to the cost of the item.

Oh wait PFS not sure if that's legal.

It is not.

You could glue a holy symbol to your shield with Sovereign Glue (2,400gp) in the core rulebook.

There's also the Birthmark trait that let's you use it as your holy symbol.

Grand Lodge

Dont remember if Birthmark is in the web traits doc or not. If so, thats a good option. If not, it wont work for Core.

Dark Archive

Its in the Faith section of the Traits doc.

Just added it to my Core pally.

there's a feat for that:
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/create-reliquary-arms-and-shie lds/

so you should be able to pay 250gp extra and for a shield that doubles as a holy symbol

Not Core, so not a valid option for the OP...

Also it's 6 years on and the OP won't need an answer, one way or another.

After searching I found the perfect way of doing this. In the "channel foci" section of Holy symbols etc, it says that any channel focus works as a holy symbol, even if not activated or charged. In it is a "sanctified shield" and "consecrated weapon". They are just an extra charge to each item and you can just use the items as a holy or unholy symbol.

I see the Necromancer's Guild is having some issues with keeping the renegade dead raisers under lock and key. Shame.

To be fair, February 2015 was generally a much better era than the current one, so you can understand why they tried to raise it from the grave...
