Interest Check: PFS season 0 Marathon

Recruitment

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This is an interest check for a season 0 PFS Marathon.

What is the season 0 PFS Marathon? Going through all the season 0 scenarios in order, the ones that are legal, 0-15 would be skipped, because it is no longer legal.

Who can sign up? Anyone, you don't have to play through them all or even DM them all, but trying to make it through the first 10 games. Though a max of 7 players is a must, 1 DM and 6 players at all times.

What if there is more interest than 7 people? Well then multiple tables of the same game. Or if you prefer, more games, this will mean some of us won't get to play every season 0 scenario, but we can still go through a good bit.

How is it run? 6 players and 1 DM. Multiple games can run at once, but obviously a max of 7 games can only be run at once, unless there is 2 tables or the interest check is really high. How do you get a max of 7 games? Everyone can play more to one game at a time, as long as he/she has the aliases, but I recommend not Dming more than one at a time to give everyone a chance to DM. We don't have to have 7 games going on at once, but we must have at least 1 game on-going at all times. If I start with Silent tide, and get 6 players, one of those players starts Hydras Fang Incident at the same time and a 3rd player starts Murder on the Silken Caravan at the same time, and the 4th, 5th and 6th players wait until 1 or all 3 games have ended, and he/she picks off with Frozen Fingers of Midnight, but cannot recruit for Mist of Mwangi until the recruitment thread for Frozen is up. Don't worry, you don't have to be past level 1 until 0-16 which is a level 5 minimum scenario, and assuming you started a brand new fresh character and only used that character, you would be level 6 when you get there and you won't level out of tier in the process. Though if Multi games are running, please have other characters that aren't brand new/fresh so that you won't be caught of guard by this, but no big deal if you do.

What if I've played the scenario or don't have a legal character during a scenario? You can skip one game or two. Let someone else who has not signed up for the marathon play the scenario or we can do without 1 player. Or DM it if you will.

Can people who did not sign up for the Marathon still play the season 0 games? Yes, but those who said yes to the Marathon get priority. If we get to a certain scenario and 2 people have already played it and a 3rd person doesn't have a legal character, we are definitely going to want replacements.

What should I type in my recruitment thread? Semi-private. Let people know that those who said yes to the Marathon get priority, but if they can't be in all are welcome.

Do I have to play/Dm every game if I say yes to the Marathon? No, but try to make at least 10, and please DM at least 1 and I'm including that, so 9 games to play and 1 to DM. The exception is if more than 7 people are interested.

So who is interested? Post here if you like the idea of a Season 0 Marathon.

Is there any complication with doing this with a completely new character?

other than he might not level up enough to play some games, that is it, but most scenario 0s are level 1, only a few of them require level 5, 7 or 11. But really you should have multi-characters ready, in case you want to play multi games. Like if scenarios 1-3 run all at the same time, you will have 2 other characters to throw in. In people want to do 1 scenario at a time that is okay too, this is just an interest check and I need a min of 7 people interested including me, and I am to run this.

Do you have a preference Nohwear? Would you prefer to do one scenario at a time? If you did multi games, you could go from 2-7 going on at once, what would be the max you would allow?

Input would go okay from others as well, these marathon things aren't set in stone, but guidelines as to how it would work.

For me personally, the fewer games that I am in the better.

okay, will mark you down for 1 game at a time vote. and I will be asking my interest players some questions.
I assume you are interested in the pfs season 0 marathon?
Would you be willing to DM as least one scenario?
Of all the season 0s that exist, which ones are you most interested in?Name the top 3 you would like to play, that way if you can't get them all, I can try to get you your 3 most wanted games if this is a success.

Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Maps Subscriber

I'd be interested, but only if it were CORE, since I've played most of them for credit and GM'ed most of the low-level (1-5) already.

I couldn't not do core only campaigns, it would bother me, especially since I take most of my traits and feats from ultimate combat. What benefit do you gain from doing core only campaigns only? Are the enemies limited to core rules as well?

Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Maps Subscriber

The enemies are limited to core only (pretty much) for season 0. But, more and more non-core stuff shows up in later seasons. It will make it more of a challenge.

The benefit is getting replay on the various scenarios for PFS credit.

I am interested, and have a variety of characters that could participate in all level ranges except 11.

okay, cool. But the level 11s start later, and you made get a level 11 character by then.

Patheticwretch would you be willing to DM at least one scenario? as the idea is to have everyone dm a scenario taking turns until we get through the season.
and what would be your top 3 games?

As I just enjoy playing, I would love to join any games.

I'm afraid I would not be able to take on the workload of a GM, but I have several characters ranging 1-5, or can easily create a new one.

I have no preference to top 3 games, as I'll play any, even w/o credit if I've already played it.

Count me in. I'd like to participate

okay so we have

1. doublegold
2. nohwear
3. Ira Kroll (unfortuneatly I'm not for an all core thing, as I have no core legal characters, all of them have at least one feat/trait that isn't core.)
4. patheticwretch
5. gossamar4 (you sure, not even just 1 game to DM? PFS is short. I assume you don't have access to any of the scenarios?)

sorry. I'm not ready to take on GMing yet.

Yeah, I'm sure I could DM, though I don't own any of the Season 0 atm.

Never played a PFS before but Interested for sure.

Lantern Lodge

Are you thinking of doing this in Core or normal?

I ask because I've just finished my own season 0 marathon, at least for the 1-5 or 1-7 scenarios. Thus I can't play them again in the regular campaign. I could DM them, and are keen to play some of the 3-7 scenarios.

I suspect I'm not alone in this, as most recruitment threads are inundated with characters, and this one has not been. Of course not everyone wants to GM :-)

For Core, the only changes are that characters are limited to the core rule book. As Season 0 is based on 3.5 anyway, you won't find monsters that use all the nifty new classes, feats, spells etc.

Seems like this would work out nice, if Gm Aerondor GM'd non-core so OP can play, and OP could GM same mods as core, so Aerondor could play them.

I'm interested, although I'd like to keep it to 1 or 2 games at a time. (I'm in quite a few others atm.) None of my characters are Core, so I would be non-Core only.

i'm interested and i also don't have any core characters. i'd also be willing to GM some.

Grand Lodge

I'd like to try, but i have never played online before.
Preferably normal (=

Normal, I'm not interested in core only, I can't use stuff from ultimate campaign or advanced race guide if I use the core only rulebook.

okay, I'll have recruitment for 0-1 up later this week, all who replied here are free to join and get priority. Lets keep this limited to 2 games at a time, so whoever wants to DM next could set up 0-2 shortly after I get 0-1 up.

I'm no longer particular of going in order, so the next DM could set up 0-20 if he wants, but we list them off as we go here is this thread, so that we cover all 28 scenarios, minus a few because a few of them are no longer legal, like 0-15.

Awesome. So I made a PFS thing, I just make a character and apply for the game?

when the game gets up, yes apply, I'm briefly looking over the games, skimming through them, just looking over the combats and maps, nothing else, there are a few where I have to control only 1 or 2 enemies at a time, but they are very powerful enemies, which is better than ones with say 6 enemies to control and keep track of for me.

okay, I'll admit, if I run a pfs game, no matter which one, there will be almost no roleplay to it. Not because I dislike roleplay, but because pfs has to run exactly as is and roleplay or giving people the opportunity to roleplay could mess things up. People might be tempted to do things that the scenario might not allow, not because they are trying to break the game or ruin, but because they might not know any better, only the DM knows what is and what is not allowed, and sometimes the modules are written vaguely or poorly, so sometimes the DM doesn't know.

Anyway, if you are all still interested, post here again and if I get 6 responses, I'll start 0-1. Also in your reply, please answer the questions.

1. Which seasons zeros can you not play? As you in played them or otherwise, you don't have to give a reason. I can't play 0-5 and 0-13
2. Will you DM? If no, that is okay, if yes, which scenario are you going with next? I need at least 2 other DMs for this to kick off, that way I'm only Dming 1/3 of the scenarios and not every scenario
3. Can you help me with maps if needed? No literally, my computer skills are horrible, they are improving, but they are horrible and I'm slow at learning.
4. Are you playing multiple characters throughout the season, or just one? This does not disqualify you either way, but I want a heads up if you've got more than one you will play, especially if you cycle through like 5 of them. I'll admit, I have 8 characters, though 1 is tied up in a long module, the other 7 I will be cycling through quite a bit depending upon level requirements, what other people are playing and if the DM recommends I play this.
5. Are you okay with having the adventure path handed to you? This is how I plan on telling you the story, by having you read a copy of it. Yes I know this invites metagaming, but I'm not worried about a player metagaming a PFS game on me, in any game but PFS I try to make it hard for people to metagame if they had a copy of the module, and sometimes it is possible because there are times when I follow the book exactly, and when I add lots of roleplay to the game, I prefer people not metagame, especially I if I change things around it probably won't even help you. Just don't make it blatantly obvious, because there are people who rather get through the game metagaming, and would not read ahead. For those who are worried about accidental metagaming I will tell you were to stop reading. And if you don't want to know the story and just want to do combats and dice rolls, being handed the module works perfectly, just don't read it.
6. Not really a question, but there will be roleplay in between combats, just read the module to know what is going on and roleplay if you'd like. Also don't metagame other DMs, I'm okay with you metagaming my pfs game silently, but other DMs will frown upon you doing it in their game.
7. Even if you already expressed interest, post again, 0-1 starts as soon as I have confirmation that you are still interested.

1. can play any.
2. no DM
3. don't know what you mean by "help with maps", but I've never DM'd pbp to know how to set up google docs or any other map programs. So probably can't help much here
4. multiple. standard and core available. I tend to fill in a party composition after other players decide what to play, or with whatever class I'm interested in at the time. I'm very flexible with characters
5. never played where I was given the mod and "played along", but I have NO problem separating what I know vs what my character knows (metagaming).
6. OK. I encourage roleplay when filling posting beyond the pace of the game. (i.e. waiting for GM or next person to act posting) Usually more conversational, than spinning a game out of it's intended path.
7. still interested... let's see what happens. I might add that you may want people to post in no. 1 or no. 4, whether they can't play std on particular mods, but would like to play it as "core". As well as if they have both std and/or core characters to play. I suggest adding this, as many previous post'rs expressed interest in core as well as std.

1. I Can play them all I would assume
2. Probably can't DM :(
3. I guess. I use roll20 for alot of my stuff
4. 1 only. A ranger, probably half elf. Not very original, but I have fun playing them
5. I play for the story. If i need to read it to play it, then yeh hand it to me.
6. RP is fun too. I tend to respond, not initiate as I dont like putting players in a situation/convo they dont want to be in, but I dont mind if it happens to me.
7. Still Interested. New to the PFS thing, I know they are legit sancitoned with the PC being registered or something, but I am here to play and get my roll/role on.

Hmmm. Not 100% sure this will be my style, so I'll give it a go but might duck out after the first game. If I keep with it I'll probably use three characters: a level 2 aasimar gunslinger, a level 3 tengu ninja, and a level 6 tiefling wizard/cleric. I can play all of them except 0-13.

Grand Lodge

1. I GMed Mists of MwangI so that one is closed for me.
2. Maybe later, I want to play first to get yhe hang of it.
3. Probably not.
4. I have one character atm and I want to start another one and change between them.
5. I am allright with that. Gives me more experiebexperience to run them afterwards.
6. I loblove roleplaying but once again - not sure how it is done online. Surely I won'ton't stall the game just for the sale of it.
7. Yes, still interested.

okay, just one or two more responses and this is good to go, I don't want to start a game and only end up with a party of 3 or 4, that is just asking for death.

the 1st thread is up

List of games running/ran

0-1 Silent Tide

1 down, 22 more to go.

I'd be tempted, but I've already done Decline of Glory.

DM Aron Marczylo wrote:

Keep in mind that you can run and play the same game.

I've played it, that's what I meant by that so it'd be the only one out of all the others that I couldn't play.

Shadow Lodge

Hi DoubleGold
I am interested in playing more season 0 scenarios but I have already played a couple of them, including Silent Tide. Please keep my name mind for future ones.

I've also already played Silent Tide...I'll check out Season 0 and see what I can run when I have a chance.

another question: who here all has a level 3 character? I have to ask, because level 3 is one of those things where you are in between 2 tiers. I'll probably throw in one of those book modules modules when I have at least 6 people with level 3 characters, so I don't have to deal with all that in-between tier stuff. Or play one book from an AP. Then continue on with the season 0 stuff while we are a bunch of level 4s.

I've got no 3s i'm afraid.

You will eventually though Aron, I'm trying to keep track of the levels of everyones main characters they are using so I know when to throw in the module.

Lantern Lodge

I do, although they are tied up at the moment. As previously noted, the 3+ scenarios are the only ones in season 0 I can still play.

Shadow Lodge

My lowest lvl character in PFS is at lvl 3.

List of player/characters so far

Gossarmar4=Fronar Gossamar fighter 1
SodiumTelluride=Adeah Silversong gunslinger 2
Merck=all level 3s.
GM Aerondor, all level 3s.
pathetic wretch, bunch of level 1s and 2s

I also have a level 3, two level 4s, and a level 6.

EDIT: Also, I'm not going to be ready to run this for a few weeks, but I'll be doing Mists of Mwangi.

got it, thanks, but which ones will you be using for this, or will you be using almost all of them?

I guess it depends on which scenario. If we are wanting to have the same PCs progress through, I can certainly do that, too.

If so, I would probably use Theadric Greyhood, Ranger 1.

so, I will not be able to DM further season 0 games because of some problems getting the scenarios, but some of you might need some powered up characters for the other scenarios whether they are higher tiered or because you want to bring in your level 2 characters.

Who here is up for master of the fallen fortress?

I have a ninja who's level 3, or a gunslinger who will be after 1 more xp.

Hi there!

Hope you remember me from the other little campaign you recently ran. I've got two other half-orc PFS characters (if this is for PFS credit):

Barachûrg, a level 1 skald; not as strong as Klujjen, but more dexterous and a bit brighter

OR

Gruugdúrrz, a level 3 Bloodrager (just reached level 3 as of yesterday, I just haven't updated his profile as yet)

Thanks.
