I like rods that aren't +1 maces.
Alright, I'm almost 100% sure this is a repurposed wondrous item, but what they did to repurpose it is so hilarious (and the item itself quite neat) that I have to vote for it.

I suppose removing random verbs from your sentences is one way to get down to 300 words.

Time to sleep.
I've seen several swarm items...they creep me out.
A couple of similar storage items that I can't be more specific about, but was surprised to see in more than one rendition.
And some something from Toon Town.

Or you could play a Magus...
*twitch* That's not how that word is spelled. *twitch*
Noticing a lot of items that are made from really specific bones.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that people who wanted to re-skin their already completed wondrous items decided that making them rings would be a safe bet.

Several items with extremely similar names. Easy to get caught skimming something and then realize it is a new one.
An item that plays off a very well known existing item, and actually does it very well. I'm impressed.

Earthbreaker fight...
One breaks all known pricing models, the other breaks all semblance of game balance.
=/
I've seen some really creative items but quite a few with horrendous formatting. One really cool item with bad formatting that I voted up anyway, though it most likely won't make it through.
Apparently, I'm placing some value on the item name as items with horrendous names are not getting my vote.

Thanks For All The Capitals.
I'll vote for you, gross blood item.
There are some really cool ideas that I have seen. Some were even well used.
This thread is going to be massive by the end of voting even if we assume fatigue slowing the pace. 10,000+ posts easy.
One that is clearly an artifact but I thought it was an awesome idea. Broke formatting - badly. :(

If your item is an artifact, please re-read the contest rules.

There are at least 3 things I don't want to ever see on an NPC in this contest. One of them was very well designed though and I will love to hate it if it ever shows up in a game.

I want that ring! Seriously, like, I want to buy it now for my character in PFS but I can't because it isn't published (yet.)
One cool joke item that made me giggle.

That's a lot of gold for +2 armor.
I mean, a LOT of gold.

That's a cool idea, but if the GM has to invent rules on the fly for it to work...then you're not finished designing it.
Personally, I tend to like the items over 200 words. My eyes glaze over on the ones with less than 100.
So I'm surprised so many people lean toward the format more than the content. I'm the reverse....content first, then format, then other details like pricing. I suppose I lean that way because I have a buddy who I tried to get to enter, and just looking at the template made his head spin. He's just not an internet savvy type...but I know he is a solid writer and could come up with tons of ideas.
I am also noticing a lot of pairings that seem deliberate for one reason or another... Either they are the same type of item or they play with the same ideas. Luckily came across my item pretty early , paired against an item of the same type. Glad to see it wasn't a strong entry and I could vote for mine with a clean conscience.
Overall quality seems to be better, I'd say, but I haven't voted as much as I'd hoped to by now. Some of you guys are damn impressive reaching star voter status already .

You've been paying attention to recent FAQ rulings, haven't you?
The formatting needs to be good enough for me to want to read the item.
If it passes a basic standard, I can forgive smaller errors for good content. Sort of like reviewing resumes.
I'm pretty forgiving of format, but when they leave out entire sections I just can't vote for them. I can't judge something that leaves out the construction details, for example.

please... please... if you name your item one thing, do not refer to it by another name later in the statblock...

Cool item. Way too expensive, but the flavor is cool, so you get a cookie. And an upvote.
I'm finding anything with really bad format tends to be neither well-designed nor particularly interesting. So far, anyway.

Plus: I learned new words.
Minus: I didn't want to know those words.
Surprising number of nets.

So many things that have charges that have no business having charges!
6th time I've seen this ring.
I don't want to give the impression I'm voting on format over content, I just seem to get relatively few pairings with an obvious winner. I will vote for something cool with many problems over something lame, but I'm getting a lot of way underpriced vs it doesn't do what it seems like it should or SIAC vs endless flavor text type of choices.
