Thank the Greek Gods that they did not put copyright on it ;-) The good news is they would have had to renew that copyright for the last 2500 years, so we're all good! Or, they could decide that 'public domain' means 'owned by the government' and take control of the copyright in perpetuity as PEI did with Anne of Green Gables.

Oh, wonderful throwing weapon. You are tightly written, evocative, and well formatted.
Keep pile for you! One of very few weapons as well, nicely done!
Ahhh Sword that is the bane of my existence... Why do you keep coming back to haunt me? You are not a good, well thought out item and I down vote you every time. Why must I continue to see you?

A Cannonball.
And all I think is "CCAAAAANNNNNOOONNNNNBBBBAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!"
ring of the diving melon? Also grants bonuses to Knowledge checks and to resist sonic mind-affecting language-dependent attacks.

A lot of "I can hit farther than my normal reach" items. But honestly we see quite a few of those each year. I think it is just to address the melee vs ranged disparity.
Note to self: do not vote on Novocain (he says from the dentist's chair).

Learned this on meds for my migraines!
That's some sweet armor! (Pun Intended!)
"I hate Bards" item detected! Locking on to all bards in range and firing Photon torpedoes!
*Michael Bay Explosion*
All bards destroyed! Mojito time!
Gross, bodily emissions item check!
Just voted for an item with completely wrong formatting over a decent item with perfect formatting.
The non-formatted item was actually excellent. Just shows the exception that in my opinion proves the rule.

There's like 3-4 of those
Oh wow. I keep thinking that references to joke items may be talking about mine since it is a little humorous, but then I see one like this and realize I'm mostly in the clear. And gross out humor is the lowest form.
And the item it is paired with is humorously ironic.
I've seen my brother's item like 3-5 times in the last day or two. Weird.
EDIT: Also, Dedicated Voter! Woot!

I don't know what you've submitted, but if it is anything like your previous items, I'm pretty sure I've upvoted it too. :-)

Which one?

Ah, there's the corniest item everyone was mentioning.

You are ridiculous and I AM NOT voting for you. Ever.
Now shoo...
Sigh... Back to uninteresting pairings. The algorithim had been kind to me for most of the day. I guess it's someone else's turn to see the good.
And here I thought I was out of new items to see. That was a pleasant surprise. Well deserving of its upvote.
I think the name of this item does not quite match the powers. Some redundancy in the description as well.

HUZZAH! There will be a cull, people! See HERE.
Alas we do not yet know when, but there will be an overall increase in quality coming!
For those who haven't seen it yet, a definitive cull has been announced. They just don't know precisely when it will be implemented. See the thread on asking for a cull.
Also, two fantastic items!!! *Reads carefully*
EDIT: Sniped lol
This ring just steals my heart every time I see it. I just can't not vote for it.
Oh hey, two new items...!
....alright, one of them removes the sole major (and balancing) drawback of playing [class A], and the other is designed to let characters who are not [class B] basically do the thing that [class B] is built entirely around doing.
Welp. *stares*
Very interesting new game mechanics, not as good as the one I fit into 300 words a few years ago but still good.
Gods I love %dice, brings me back to the 90's!

Huh- Tea for Two and Two for Tea. That Tea for you and Tea for Me...
Oh yeah, I finally found the tea.
Alright so I have a question I am hoping the forum can answer for me.
Was there a recent movie, TV show, sci-fi novel or comic book that had a weapon that was able to create dimension doors? I was trying to figure out why there were so many items this year that looked at that design space.

I was freelancing at the time, which means that I was set on creating perfectly publishable items, spells and other things. RPG Superstar requires a different setting, minds need to be blown. My item is too subtle and understated compared to some other competing entries.
But, if I am wrong, I won't mind ;>
It brings a small smile to me every time I get to up vote this garbage item.

I originally attributed it to the Portal video games, but now I'm thinking it had to be Blink's sequences in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
sniff But, those are my kin.
Not the best written item (and too expensive for a disposable), but I'm still voting for you cause it's an intriguing concept.

Very similar to an item from a 3e splatbook vs. "My momma said I could be anything... so I want to be everything!"
"I am Groot!" vs. The one that tons of people are offended by.

I gotta say, voting has given me a lot of appreciation for the work of a slush editor, and also insight into the way the process works, since a lot of what we are doing kind of mimics that gate-keeping process-- deciding what's good enough to be REALLY looked at, etc (even if I think the RPGSS judges do look at least once at everything?).
To a lot of newbie writers, the idea that your submission can, and usually will, be rejected for something like 'failing to follow manuscript format' is disheartening and seems cruel-- 'if they would only look past that to see how awesome my story is behind that superficial detail!'. But once you've been on the other end of looking at hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of submissions, you simply don't have the time and energy to give the people who DON'T follow directions that extra effort to hunt for the awesome that may or may not be contained within their story. It's simply a math question, where the goal is to process as many submissions as you can as quickly and fairly as you can, and people who messed up on one thing are, statistically, more likely to have messed up on other things. It's a reality of the business.
(And no, I'm not saying I downvote for every missed bold tag, and sometimes I DO see the awesome in an item with many glaring errors-- this is really just meant more as general observation on the way the publishing industry functions, as a necessity, than on RPGSS in particular.)
Man, I love dimension door swords, and disarming shields. They are both great ideas. I vote them up all the time, because they are cool. I trust the judges to find the best sword or shield. There's a lot of talent in those dimension swords. I like reading some of them. I hate some others. There. I'm negative.
Heh heh heh. I would totally buy that item and risk terrible death to use it just for the reaction.
Ranged healing vs. ranged healing
And both are really good items. One is a lot cheaper and can be used by almost everyone, but the other has a better style, theme and formatting.
I guess the choice to go with an extreme niche counts against the item.
Wow. I really like that Wondrous Item weapon. Too bad it's a Wondrous Item. That could have been Top 32, last year.
