Runes are pretty cool I guess.

Sure love the blue link formatted descriptions! Nice work bar raisers!
Looks like it's only people with monster avatars who are still awake.
Monster party!

I'm still awake, mucklucks. Though I should be doing finishing touches on papers, not voting...

Yeah, I should be sleeping instead of voting and probably not drinking scotch either, but hey.

Petty Alchemy wrote: The formatting needs to be good enough for me to want to read the item.
If it passes a basic standard, I can forgive smaller errors for good content. Sort of like reviewing resumes.
This is more or less my attitude as well. I require the item to have all the necessary rules information to make the item work. If it doesn't have that...what's the point in reading it?
If it has all the necessary info, though, formatting is a secondary concern at best.
Juxtaposition of two different items that are behaviour modification Kohlberg/Gillian related training items, followed by an s&m item and the zillions necro item. Gets me wondering about what motivates us to design.
That's about all for tonight, I think.
I threw up in my mouth a little after reading one of these items.
It still got my vote as its foe was two published items duct-taped together.
*squints at an item's construction requirements* Uhhhh
If I'd known that was all I needed to write on my item, golly! My life would have been easier.

Every year at least one person submits a Final Fantasy knockoff weapon/spell/armor/etc.
Thunderfrog wrote: Every year at least one person submits a Final Fantasy knockoff weapon/spell/armor/etc. I've only seen a couple things that were clearly ripping off something from some other medium, but it could just be that I'm not cultured enough to catch more of them.
It's a minor thing in the grand scheme, but if you say your item is made from X, then X should be in the crafting requirements.
ETA: When X is unusual/some really specific thing, I mean.

"When you attack with this item, your target must make a DC xx Will save or engage you in an elaborate, multi-stage vaudeville routine. This will never get old."
Just saw a box of Swiss Army knives welded together with a deck of cards. And amazingly it had less than 300 words.
Weird, after a couple hours of mostly repeats, starting to get all new ones again.
I completely refuse to vote for a joke item, no matter how bad the mess made by the other item.
Bad joke item vs. misspelled joke item...
...ugh.

I've seen one really cool polearm. Bit underpriced for what it did, but cool nonetheless.
Found a few crossbows and shields which I would want badly. A Disney ring I want to more for trolling purposes in game and another ring my rogue would like since its function meshes well with his Leadership feat.
Sadly I never got to see my own item yet :( There be a foreboding for me.

Wow, there really ARE a lot of marriage based items.

If you find yourself adding more than one "In addition:" clauses too an item, it might be doing too much.
So...there was a Wizard and he made a staff that did things. Okay then.

It's the weirdest of the trends to me. I can totally see a bunch of people independently hitting on wind-based items, or leaf-based items, but marriage?
That said, I actually liked most of them.
I just can't vote for alignment-based mechanics in good conscience.
I've seen three disarming shields so far.

Alright, I think that's it for me. Night everyone, I had lots of fun on my first Day of Superstar Voting Ever.
Still didn't see my item but I'm satisfied just knowing other people have seen it. Hopefully it doesn't have any of the same kind of formatting errors I've been occasionally downvoting people for or I'm going to feel like such a jerk.
Dang. Just read a description I REALLY loved, the first one to paint a super-vivid image in my head that was like nothing I had read before, very cinematic...
...and the construction requirements are so under what they should be/missing things that I can't in good conscience vote for it. Makes me sad. :(

So...an item that explicitly changes its user's personality but with absolutely no mechanics for that. Why...just why?

Still looking for my baby.
Really good item that felt unique and interesting.... really low price. :-\

A lot of really good and interesting items so far. Eight of them have already made it into my personal Keep folder, and while some have been pretty bad, nothing has made me want to gorge out my eyes yet.
On a personal level, some of these items are making me wish I had cranked the description of my item up a notch. There is some really flavorful imagery going on here.
There are also a lot of items that have some very imaginative base ideas, and only lack of rules knowledge and item design conventions are keeping them from being truly Superstar.
I'm looking forward to the next thousand votes.
It's first time that I participate in voting, and it really adds dimensions to the classic choice of two evils problem.
I just voted 10 times, and already seen the same item twice. :)
Also, two great items, that might appear in my games someday.
I've not seen my item, and I've not voted too much (my concentration is shot, as I'm sleep deprived, and my ADD makes it hard to focus even when I'm rested...), but...
- I've noted a few trends that others have here
- My own item is not going to make the top 32
... and I'm okay with that. I knew that my item wasn't going to make it when I submitted it. I just wish I'd had time to make my different item I wanted to submit, but alas. Maybe (depending on what they ask for) next year.
:D

Still up, still going. Traveled 400 miles for a funeral, got there, threw my back out. No sleep for me, I suppose, so it's all Superstar for now.
342 unique items seen, my own among them (at least twice). A lot of junk, but a lot of good ideas as well. Looking forward to new items popping up all the time.

So many runes - and it s not a language but a writing system so I wonder how many Golarion languages could be written in runes
(just pondering) - lots of portals to other places - and I wonder if the use of ki specific or class specific items are to explore the pricing discount mechanics? Or perhaps not!

Jeez. I just got the same item three times in a row.
EDIT: Also, a lot of "activate on death" items here.
Runes: Are they aspiring to the filigree throne?!
Sadly, I haven't been very lucky so far

This glowing filigree, upon closer inspection, is covered in runes that activate upon the wielders death.
