Mounted combat: Help?
Overrun: How does this actually work?
AoO bite attack with grab: Do you get grab on these? what about grappling interrupting a charge? If you get grappled while charging, does that stop you?
Thunder and Fang and phalanx fighter archetypes: Can you dual wield two handed weapons with these feats? (Treats earthbreaker as 1 handed, treats polearms as 1 handed while wearing a shield, can have a buckler and wield a weapon in that hand).
Titan Mauler: Can you undo the faq that makes it not do anything so it does stuff instead?
Planar Binding: Can you just bind unlimited things for basically free? Can we have some mechanics
Planar binding A: Does the wizard discovery "True Name" really just skip all the binding mechanics for a permanent pet?Charm Person: How far can the opposed charisma check get you?
Prismatic spray: If you roll and 8, and then another 8, does the opponent just get hit by nothing, or should it say "If you roll an 8, roll twice and reroll 8s as 2 rays strike a guy"or "If you roll an 8, an additional ray strikes for up to 7 rays"
That is all I have for now
Excellent, thank you! At least one of those was already on my list, but a few of them were not on my radar yet.

Sound Striker. Oh dear god the sound striker.
At this point, even if it gets nerfed I would like it to be FAQ'd so that we can get our free retrain in PFS.
(That being said, I would also like the archetype to be usable, but at this point just being able to retrain out of it would be great.)

@Ashiel,
Whatever your problems, I'm very glad whenever I see somebody 1) acknowledge them, and 2) try to improve. Keep it up! 8^)
Thanks Arazyr. I figure that if I look at things that are wrong with me, and try to work on those, bit by bit I'll be the person I'd like to be. That's the idea, anyway. ^~^'

And it's exactly posts like yours that make me think YOU are one of the people who is a problem on these boards. Not only do you insult staff members, you don't even realize that you are doing it, and when called out on it, you use your ignorance to justify it.
Act like a damn human being. And learn about what you're talking about before spouting off opinions about it.
Why are mommy and daddy fighting? Is it my fault?
Seriously though, this post caught me. I've been negative on these boards every once in a while. I've apologized for it afterwards. Sure, I try to justify my rudeness but in the end I say "I'm sorry; sometimes I'm a jerk face."
It's SO freaking easy to forget that Sean K Reynolds isn't just a bunch of letters and a 2 dimensional bottle. The man is a living person sitting in an office working really hard. He and this design team are people trying their damndest to make and improve upon a game we all enjoy.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: Thanks. Thank you SKR and all the good folks at Paizo. Your customer service is excellent and your product is very user friendly compared to some iterations of this game.
Are there hiccups or the occasional rulings I disagree with? Heck yeah (Halfling slingstaff, I'm looking in your direction) but at the end of the day you're all people who aren't just constructs of my mind.
To that point in case I miss them here's a happy birthday/happy holidays/congratulations and general atta boy for the staff at Paizo for past and future events.
Seriously, let's all be aware that we're all human beings. It used to peeve me off when someone would call the customer service line and demand to speak with my manager or "someone else with half a brain" when I couldn't guarantee their shipment at 5pm central time to a rural hospital in New Mexico. Then I came to realize: they're under a lot of pressure and they're venting. And I don't know that person's life story. What if, on top of this work issue their marriage is breaking up, or their dog has cancer or their dad just told them they were adopted.
Sometimes we fall down. Sometimes we make bad choices. Sometimes we hurt others. The best thing to do is apologize and try not to do it again. Work hard, be nice.
Anyway thanks again SKR. I'll try not to make you uncork that freaking potion bottle on me. Hope all is well on the west coast!

Things for Mark to look at? Here's one that I started a good long while ago:
Order of operations for high-level light spells and darkness effects
If memory serves, answering that one would have the light/darkness rules completely finished, which would be an impressive thing to have on your record so early. ;D

While I haven't been commenting on the other ones, since I wrote the older guide thread to light and darkness, this one is near and dear to my heart. The one remaining question (which I agree is the last thing to hammer out) is definitely an easy question to answer, but I'm actually hoping to make the whole thing into a blog or something rather than a FAQ. The number of people who read threads like yours or mine are limited, and they're harder to remember than Jason's blog on poison and the like. If it's a blog, I can make it long and comprehensive, including all the points that you and I already agree are the case but that still trip people up all the time.

Rogue Eidolon |

I was just reminded of another one: energy resistance and environmental conditions. There seems to be a general consensus that anyone with cold/fire resistance should be immune to corresponding environmental hazards, but to my knowledge that's not actually in the rules/FAQ anywhere.
For this one, ideally right now without a FAQ, our best bet is to look at the fact that extreme heat mentions 1d6 points of fire damage each round whereas extreme cold just says "1d6 points of lethal damage" each round, then look at brown mold to see that nonlethal cold damage is definitely a real type of damage in the game, then finally conclude that the lack of parallelism between extreme heat and extreme cold indicates an assumption that the energy type was implied.

Mark Seifter Designer |

You wrote a guide on that too? I'd love to read it if you have a link.
Anyway, just make sure that if it's a blog that it gets into Additional Resources or referenced in the FAQ or something. ;D
You were in the thread--it was like a year ago.
Ideally it would be a blog like Jason's poison blog that contained rules clarifications.

Found it; didn't have it mentally filed as a "guide" because I mostly engaged it as more of a discussion thread. Bit out of date though, given some newer (and one updated) FAQs.
In any case, I'd love to see the whole topic put to rest, even if it involved a total rewrite that completely invalidated everything I've ever posted on the topic. Just to KNOW would be wonderful. :D

Just off the top of my head, "How does Gang Up work?" has been a common question in the past at my tables. Probably because I played Rogues in PFS.
The problem is that the old answer to "Do you count as your own ally?" actually ends up creating more confusion than it solves, due to the cryptic "or if doing so would make no sense or be impossible" and the use of "almost always." Those phrases make the game's definition of "ally" more nebulous.
This unclear answer also affects things beyond Gang Up, such as the menacing weapon enchantment.
I would suggest that this FAQ entry be revised to be much more cut-and-dry in its language.
Also off the top of my head, the "what does wielding mean?" question could use some revisiting. The answer given for the defending weapon property causes weird stuff when applied to other instances of "wielding." Menacing is one of the instances, but the courageous weapon enchantment is an example of the weird stuff.
How reach weapons work could use an FAQ entry, as well. Do they threaten on the diagonal?
Mistmail could use an FAQ entry. What is the duration of mistmail's mist effect? How does mistmail interact with mage armor? Is a character whose mistmail considering to be wearing armor for purposes of, for example, the Monk's AC bonuses?
When is 2nd Edition coming? (hehehehe...)
Can a Maneuver Master Monk use Flurry of Maneuvers while wearing armor?
What's going on with the Taldor canon? Are the worshipers of Sarenrae still cultists? We're not getting a revised Taldor book, are we?
How does the Fast Learner feat work?
That old blog post about how a weapon-using character adds his weapon's enhancement bonus to trip checks, about how the Trip weapon property allows the user to make reposition checks with it, etc., could use some reposting in the FAQ section.

While I love the direct developer-to-consumer dialogue going on in this thread, maybe you ought to talk to the Design Team about making an official FAQ sub-forum or something where FAQs could be consolidated for your convenience instead of gathering ideas from a thread with a somewhat antagonistic title, Rogue Mark.
From a psychological standpoint, watching a thread where a question you asked was posted get moved from a general Advice / Rules thread into a FAQ subthread would probably be a good thing as its a noticeable indicator that someone took enough of a glance at the question to decide that it warranted being moved into a new location.

Matrix Dragon |

Let's seeee, I'm sure I can think of a few things that could use some FAQ help ;)
Well, there is one main one that has been bothering me for a while:
There are a lot of things about spell-like abilities that could use clarification, but there is a specific one that I am curious about. If you have a feat or ability that enhances certain types of spells such as say... spell focus or a bloodline arcana, do these apply to spell-like abilities as well? Originally I would have believed this was a *no*, but now the summoner's summon monster sla benefits from Augment Summoning.
This came up for me in PFS when I was thinking of trying to make a Kitsune Sorcerer with the Magical Tail feats. I was trying to figure out whether or not his racial, feat, and favored class bonuses to enchantment spells would affect SLAs from the Magical Tail feats, but I gave up on the concept because I couldn't get a clear answer and didn't want to deal with table/gm variation. Getting the tail feats seemed pointless when his spells would probably have far superior save DCs, lol.

Having studied linguistics, I think a likely reason might be because of Gricean implicatures. Most people are hard-wired to read implicatures into anything you say, even though they are not directly stated, and linguists consider this to be a peculiar and interesting fact about language and communication. The link I included has some good examples.
I love it when people cite Linguistics theory. Gricean conversational maxims were one of the huge takeaways from my own linguistics degree.
My FAQ request is very simple. What's the range increment and maximum range of a Lasso? The table lists it as '-'.
The text of Lasso refers several times to the Net mechanics (which has a range increment and maximum range of 10), but does not do so for range. A 10' range increment might make sense, but a 10' max range wouldn't.

Mark Seifter Designer |

If light/darkness ends up in a blog, please link to the blog from the FAQ so the FAQ can remain "one stop shopping".
(Is Jason's Poison Blog linked from the FAQ?)
That would be my plan. So you guys get both the ability to find things in the FAQ and the advantage of a longer write-up without cluttering the blog!

Oh, just thought of another topic:
The babau's protective slime ability seems weird. With Pathfinder's rules on damaging objects, the 1d8 damage is halved before applying hardness, meaning even wood and leather are basically immune. Which means monks and archers are the only ones who care about that ability.
Also, it seems weird that it has the special ability to auto-broken-ize a weapon with even a single point of damage, which isn't how object damage normally works.
Which in turn is even weirder since ammunition is auto-destroyed and fists can't be "broken", so the only way the slime's weird "1 point = broken" clause ever does anything is if you're attacking with a piece of paper or something.
I suppose one could consider the slime to be "particularly effective" and not get halved before hardness, making wooden or leather weapons vulnerable. So I guess quarterstaves and whips?
Were the object damaging rules different in a prior edition and the babau is a casualty of conversion?

Acid ignored hardness in 3.5, but not any more. As a side note, this is why you will occasionally see threads pop up where someone claims that they destroyed locks, doors, walls, or other objects using repeated acid splash spells.

BigNorseWolf |

There's also the line about some forms of damage ignoring some/all of the hardness if they're particularly suited to dealing damage to that object, such as an axe to wood. The DM could reasonably decide that acid eats metal.

Mark Seifter Designer |

Poor babau. Maybe he needs an update?
EDIT: Wait, that doesn't make sense. If the ability was written with the assumption of ignoring hardness, why does it reference what happens when you exceed the hardness?
Probably in part to remind people to remember to include the hardness, unlike in 3.5.
Here's the 3.5 text:
Protective Slime (Su)
A slimy red jelly coats the babau’s skin. Any weapon that touches it takes 1d8 points of acid damage from the corrosive goo, and the weapon’s hardness does not reduce this damage. A magic weapon may attempt a DC 18 Reflex save to avoid taking this damage. A creature who strikes the babau with an unarmed attack, unarmed strike, touch spell, or natural weapon takes this damage as well but can negate the damage with a DC 18 Reflex save. The save DCs are Constitution-based.
The notable difference here is that 3.5's explicitly ignored hardness. I think it was probably just one of those things that got weakened more than expected in conversion, since 1d8 definitely can't beat 10 hardness (for the record, I always run it as being "particularly effective" and thus not halved, so wood could be damaged if the babau gets lucky).

Mark Seifter Designer |

Energy Attacks
Energy attacks deal half damage to most objects. Divide the damage by 2 before applying the object's hardness. Some energy types might be particularly effective against certain objects, subject to GM discretion. For example, fire might do full damage against parchment, cloth, and other objects that burn easily. Sonic might do full damage against glass and crystal objects.
So the particularly effective energy attacks do full damage; they don't ignore hardness.

Kudaku |

This was the first time I'd heard about the Poison Blog, and after reading it I have to say it's a spectacular breakdown of the poison rules - I just realized me as well as three other GMs have been running poison wrong for years.
If you can spare the time I'm 100% pro for getting similar blog posts on some of the other hazy topics in Pathfinder.

In addition to clarifying things about precision damage, with the ACG adding a lot more options that grant static precision damage in addition to the few that are there already, can the stat block format get updated so that precision damage is split out, so it's clear what gets multiplied on a critical hit?
So instead of 1d8+5 it could be 1d8+3+2P or something if the attack does 2 damage that's precision damage? Not sure if there are/will be precision damage types that are always on or from buff effects applied to the stat block pre-combat, or if they're all like sneak attack in that they would only appear in the SA section of the stat block, but some way to clearly see what's precision damage sounds like a good idea now.

Overrun/Charge
How does it operate:
1)Like it does with the Charge Through feat making Charge Through an oversite.
2)Like it does with Bullrush meaning you can double move and get a +2 to Overrun
3)Do you get an attack on your Overrun target and then to Overrun them and if so limited to single or double move
4)Dealer's choice from the above
5)Other
My group has always ran it as option (1) and then Charge Through came out. I believe option (1) best supports the purpose of Overrun (Sack the QB); though, my barbarian says to tell you option (4) is best since more people he sees need Overrun love. :D
People have voiced concerns with the power of this maneuver if it's case (1), but with how restrictive a charge is (have to go to nearest square you can attack from which must be open) I don't think the conditions are going to align all that often to allow it, but that's my 2 coppers.
Ultimately I just wanna know how it works by Paizo's design. :D
Here's a couple links to Overrun rule threads:
Overrun and Charge
Overrun with Charge, Charge Through, and Elephant Stomp
And I'm sure there's more.

More seriously folks, we're looking at up to a year or more before these are resolved. Each question requires scouring the rules, and weighing all the options against each other to figure out what's best for the game. I've seen Mark's list, and it's impressively long already, so don't expect quick results. He'll prioritize the sections, and that does mean someone's cause is going to be in last place.
Be patient :)

Any chance we get to see the list w/occasional updates as things move forward and more stuff is added? It would remove people from faq'ing or starting threads on stuff listed in the queue. You could sticky it at the top of the rules forum.

This either will be an issue when the ACG comes out in short order, and sort of already is an issue since the playtest classes are usable in PFS:
Does the ACG include a list of synergy options for retraining hybrid classes?
Presumably the two classes that make the hybrid class are a synergy, but the shaman in particular notably makes use of the druid list as well - suggesting there's a synergy there as well.
If the ACG covers this, then this can be ignored, otherwise it needs a response pretty quickly so people can take full advantage of the new classes.

So the particularly effective energy attacks do full damage; they don't ignore hardness.
Vulnerability to Certain Attacks
Certain attacks are especially successful against some objects. In such cases, attacks deal double their normal damage and may ignore the object's hardness.
This doesn't specify melee or magical attacks
Of course you're in charge of these things now and hold the nuclear option in such discussions :) . But the rule is "Dm's call" anyway, and thats not usually a bad thing.

That sounds like a PFS question, not a PDT question (though I'm not familiar with retraining rules in any context so I'm not sure on that). But anyway, John Compton mentioned something about it in the Know Direction interview last week. I believe he said that PFS would be providing clear guidance on synergy for retraining.

Is the current layout for the brutal mutated bloodline from Ultimate magic a copy paste error? As it stands it somehow is meant to be more bruiser focused while removing the bruiser aspects of the abyssal bloodline while keeping the summoning stuff.
Is the spellscar drifter supposed to have a modified challenge to account for his firearm proficiency and focus on said skills? As it stands there is no paizo produced order that grants challenge at range nor archetype that can be legally mixed with this one.
There are just a few.
