Character Theme Song for Krondar the Numerian:

Anvil of Crom (Conan the Barbarian Soundtrack)

I have tons and tons readied for this.

- Conan the Barbarian (Also, as mentioned)
- Planescape Torment by Mark Morgan (The weird somewhat industrial sounds match the tone.)
- Fallout by Mark Morgan (It works too)
- House of the Dead III and IV (Tense, electronic sounding, and sometimes a bit chilling.)
- Any laboratory themes from the Resident Evil (video game) series.
- Deus Ex Human Revolution
- Various OCRemixes ("The End" remix of One-winged Angel would make a GREAT boss theme!)
- Quake soundtrack by Trent Reznor (Nothing like some old school NIN sound to make a battle against horrors from space really fun! And of course...)
- Remixes of DooM 1 & 2 (Only the most METAL of remixes will do)
- Various tracks from TimeSplitters series by Graeme Norgate (The cyberpunk and Splitter hive levels especially!)
- Necronomicon by Nox Arcana (If we're having cosmic beasties involved, why not crank up the eldritch flavor?)
- Various Doctor Who tracks by Murray Gold (Many are very atmospheric and dramatic, some have a very science fiction-y feel to them... Plus, I'm an unabashed fan of the series.)
- Blade Runner by Vangelis (Vangelis isn't too out of place for Numeria, right?)
- Dune by Toto (Dune is a decent match up, no?)
- Fifth Element by Eric Serra
- The Thing by Ennio Morricone

In terms of character - Jump in the Fire by Metallica. (CE Human Pyromancer Wizard/Alchemist, kinda like a strange mix of Xzar and Ignus.)

If I were GMing, pulling from a lot of current electronic music. I'd honestly wind up cannibalizing my Distant Worlds playlist quite a bit.

Not all music from these artists would be appropriate, but I'd certainly be pulling from their work: (listing only a few examples of each)

Blue Stahli - "Chaser", "Suit Up"
BT - lots of his ambient work, wide swathes of "Laptop Symphony"
Celldweller - "Blackstar", "Swtichback", "Battlecry", "Gluttony Battle"
Danger - "3h16"
Hybrid - "Dogstar", "Gravastar"
Infected Mushroom - "Saeed", "Can't Stop"
Juno Reactor - "Guillotine", "Mona Lisa Overdrive"
M Machine - "Immigrants", "Black"
Nero - "Doomsday", "Fugue State", "Etude", "Angst"
Pendulum - "Propane Nightmares", "The Other Side"
Voicians - "The Temple"
zircon - "Severe Reaction", "Neurobazaar"

And certain soundtracks, like Half-Life 2 (esp. "Last Legs" and "Vortal Combat") or Portal 2(where to even start with this one...)

Player theme? If playing that super-optimistic NG heavens oracle/aberrant sorcerer with alien ancestry? Instrumental version of Hybrid's "Can You Hear Me Now" maybe.

No, scratch that. Pendulum's The Island Pt. 1(Dawn) He's singing to whatever alien influence is working through him. :D

The Island Pt2 (Dusk) gets to be a fight theme.

Love Theme from Blade Runner (Pure Mix) by Solarstone

I'll be playing in this one if all goes to plan, but if I was going to be running it my list would be pretty similar to yours Mikaze. I absolutely love Blue Stahli, Celldweller, BT, Hybrid, Juno Reactor, Nero, Pendulum and Voicians. I'd also be throwing in bits and pieces of Deus Ex: Human Revolution OST, and possibly the Syndicate OST. Probably add in some of Rob Dougan's instrumental stuff as well.

As for what I'm planning on playing... hadn't really thought about it yet. I may see if my GM is willing to allow me to use a third party class from the new Thunderscape setting, the Golemoid (man/machine hybrid) or maybe a Mechamage (similar to a summoner, but has a golem like servant instead of the Eidolon). As for theme music... no idea what I'd go with for something with vocals, but if I was going for instrumental themes, Clubbed To Death 2 by Rob Dougan would be a strong contender.

Also, Mikaze, have you heard the Celldweller mix of Propane Nightmares? Well worth checking out.

That's actually what introduced me to Celldweller(also, my favorite Propane Nightmares remix). :)

(now I want to replace The Island with BT's "Suddenly (Celldweller Remix)" as my PCs internal theme...with whatever's influencing him singing to him)

I actually learned about a lot of these folks by following the remixes from one artist to the next. It's crazy how often you wind up looping around. :D Speaking of which, Luna Sequence is probably going to fit in somewhere too... Hell, if I looked hard enough I'm pretty sure a few DJ Fresh tracks could work. i:scintilla is probably going to stick to Wrath of the Righteous...

Good call on Rob Dougan, Deus Ex, and Syndicate too! Also got some favored X-com: Enemy Unknown tracks to throw in there...

Geez, that really is cannibalizing my Distant Worlds playlist. ;)

edit-State of Trance just reminded me of another: "Game Over" by Heatbeat

I've yet to play X-com: Enemy Unknown... really need to get around to it, I'm honestly surprised I haven't yet, given that Strategy RPGs are my absolute favourite genre of game.

Yeah, following remixes can be a lot of fun. I've not yet come across Luna Sequence and i:scintilla, but I'll put them on the list to check out.

While I think of it, if you haven't come across them yet, see if you can track down the Strange Patterns compilation albums. They've got a really wide mix of music on them, ranging from darkwave and techno through to alt rock and industrial. I've found some of my favourite artist through there, like The Crystalline Effect (check out their song Life Has Failed You). I think there were 9 of them in total, 8 full albums and an EP labelled as 0. They're pretty hard to track down these days though. I used to come across a lot of the stuff from them when I was frequenting the monthly Goth/Alt club night here in Canberra, Chrome, and tracks from the compilations would pop up in the playlists on a regular basis.

Depending on what sort of character I play, I may have found an option for a vocal track for theme. This Corrosion by The Sisters of Mercy. Love The Sisters of Mercy, was so happy when they played Soundwave last year and I got to see them.

For some reason The Bells by i:scintilla seems to fit the theme, along with any recast version of the classic, Children of the Grave. Probably going to pull out Neil Young's all-feedback CD from his three disc piece from ten or so years ago. I recommend it for this sort of thing. If you can pull sounds from Morrowind, then the Dweomer cavern sounds would be perfect as well.

Or just have a loved one hit a tuning fork or mix the sounds of a Freightliner shop...

It really depends on how the AP goes. Considering that it seems like we're likely to end up inside the Silver Mount, I could see myself playing Nine Inch Nails' A Violet Fluid and most of his soundtrack work for the original Quake. A lot of stuff from Sonic Mayhem's Quake 2/3 soundtrack could fit too.

I could probably use mostly industrial stuff if the AP starts out as being laced with robots and the like. Also, the original Diablo soundtrack is always good. Always. Better for some situations than others, but it's something that I'll always love for background music in my fantasy RPGs. Actually, a lot of the music from Blizzard games is good for this sort of thing. Warcraft has some great music throughout the series, as does Starcraft. The Warcraft and Diablo stuff is the better fantasy style things though.

Usually I tend to prefer music with little to no coherent singing/speaking/yelling as my background music though. Once you start throwing words into the music, it becomes more distracting than something that's just instrumental. It's much easier for the instrumental to actually fade into the background and just be "there" as an extra something to set the mood. But I haven't really used music in years.

Oh, and there's a lot of stuff by Corvus Corax that works. They kinda stray away from my "no words" thing, but it's just too good to pass up.

How 'bout the soundtrack for Hardware? P.I.L. baby!

After my experiences in kingmaker, I can safely say I will be making a lot of changes to what is written to make the AP my own personal adventure.

This one might be a better representation....

In my case, mostly "classic" heavy metal and soundtracks like that of System Shock 2 and the Mad Max trilogy.

Any of the Manowar albums; esp. Triumph of Steel, Kings of Metal, Louder Than Hell, and Fighting the World.

The technic league theme will be Neon Knights from Black Sabbath and Dio obviously. Even if they are evil.

If I end up GMing this one, I expect a lot of Dio and I'll be upping the Irons.

Only THIS song on repeat + music video on background of course.

Ahh wat a horrid song, suits the theme perfectly tho...

Liberty's Edge

The Quake 1 soundtrack for the dungeons.

Sczarni

Lots of Rhapsody of Fire.

My playlists have been shifting a bit at the moment due to various factors, and one thing I've rediscovered is my love of post-rock.

So I'm thinking that amongst the industrial electronica and metal, I'm going to be trying to fit some Mogwai in. Some of the songs off the Mr. Beast album in particular would fit really well, like Glasgow Mega-Snake and We're No Here.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

2112 and Red Barchetta from Rush also seem to fit.

Some of Bear's work "The Differently Sentient," "Through the Paces," and "Caprica Buccaneer's Theme" all would rock, and of course the Terminator: SCC soundtrack

Silver Crusade

Hot damn the new Glitch Mob album has quite a bit to plug in, particularly if any androids are about.

@Tinkergoth, a bit late replying here, but thanks for the suggestions. I'll give 'em a looksee. :)

This is likely just me, but my potential Iron Gods soundtrack would be composed of nothing but the Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn soundtrack, courtesy of Frank Klepacki.

Franchisee - Game Kastle College Park

Depending on how things go, I can definitely see some Styx making an appearance...

"I thought that they were angels
But to my surprise
We climbed aboard their starship
And headed for the skies!"

Come sail away with some iron gods.

Any tracks from Daft Punk?

Some of the Syndicate OST could be good too (referring to the 2012 reboot, not the original games). Atmospheric electronica... and for theme music, while Clubbed to Death or Clubbed to Death 2 are still tempting, I'm honestly starting to lean towards Icarus from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, or one of the remixes of the Syndicate main theme... I generally dislike dubstep, but the Skrillex remix of that theme is pretty boss.

Oooooh is her new album out? I was so happy that I got to see her when she came to Australia. Took a couple of days off work and drove up to Sydney for the night with my friend's missus, since she didn't want to go alone. Such a good show.

I've been thinking about throwing some stuff by The Glitch Mob in, and maybe the Dredd OST as well. Luckily, I have a colleague coming over from the states who's bringing me a bunch of industrial, electronica and other awesome CDs that are hard to get here very soon.

I don't know about the hardcopy release but it's not out just yet on iTunes. There are two songs on the album available for early purchase though.

Also double recommending the new Glitch Mob album, Love. Death. Immortality. Our Wrath of the Righteous group already appropriated "Our Demons" for our campaign soundtrack. :)

I just realized I should have specified the SONG "Shatter Me". ;)

Yeah Amazon recommended The Glitch Mob to me based on previous purchases of Blue Stahli and Celldweller. Listened to the sample of 'Our Demons' and immediately added both their albums to the list of stuff to bring me. 'Love. Death. Immortality.' will be getting use as club music in my upcoming Shadowrun game.

The rest of my order includes the Dredd OST, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution OST (full version, the one I got with the game is shorter), Celldweller's Soundtrack for the Voices in my Head vol 2, and 10 Years' album Minus the Machine.

Actually Mikaze, I recommend checking out the song '... And All The Other Colors' from Minus the Machine. I suspect you'll enjoy it. I only discovered it last night, and I'm completely in love with it.
