(Interest Check) Colonization - kingdom building

Recruitment

Silver Crusade

So i've had this idea in my head a while now. Have implimented it twice, once as a good and once as an evil campaign.. both used the rules from d20 Empire by Alderac Entertainment Group on other forums.

I would like to try it again using the rules from Ultimate Campaign.

In this tale all Heroes would be from Golarion or Eberron. (ie dragonmarks/houses or warforged)

There is this.. will call him a Dwarf, unless you have trueseeing thats what he looks like. Hes been able to walk the Hallway of Doors and travel to two worlds, to recruit Good beings to assist him in exploration and colonization of this Third world he has found.

Starts with an outpost, a small fort and watch tower ring.
1 unit of Warfroged Miners.
1 unit of Warforged Farmers.
1 unit of Warforged Lumberjacks
1 Creation Forge
2 warehouse's
1 tavern
9 wooden watch towers 100' tall
1 barracks where everyone non-Forged sleeps
2 war-forged druids are the spiritual guidance of the outpost
9 warforged artifacers maintain the other Warforged.
1 human from house Cannith in charge of the place.

Its basically a small town of warforged sent by an agreement worked out with the Dwarf and a reforged and united House Cannith.

The heroes are recruited to explore the surrounding lands and assist in "clearing lands" for outpost to expand. Unless the heroes make friends with natives, odds are they will be the only of their kind in the city, as House Cannith has simply moved one of its creation forges here to get around the Treaty of Thronhold.

All Warforged here are welcomed into House Cannith as full house members, given same rights as any Human would within the House upon Eberron.

So i guess players may be encouraged to play a forged one, but i dont want to limit it to that. Hence why that dwarf, Klokk, by the way has gone around to recruit others from two worlds basically.

__
Crunch would be PF rules, w most anything from Eberron allowed as well.
Exploration and Expansion such would be handled based on Ultimate Campaign going to Kingmaker if needed for xp tables and such.

The world is pretty sandboxy. There are other races and creatures in it.. just a matter of finding them. Who knows you guys could have arrived in the middle of a huge wilderness preserve.. and a park ranger shows up one day. or the warforged digging the mines break through into a dwarven delve.

Im just looking to see if anyone likes the premise, atm.

Now I like it. I really like the idea, but I do not like Eberron at all. Sandboxes, and Kingmakeresque games, are very popular on these boards. As you have had no traction in 24 hours, I would suggest giving the proposal again as edited above. You may find more interest. If so, I'd be happy to be your first player.

I'm in, with or without drayen's edit. I don't know much about Eberron, but what it sounds like is that it's pretty much a blank slate kind of game, with Golarion/Eberron as sort of backstory stuff.

It's pretty exact for a premise check, imho. You might think about simply making this a recruitment thread, but that's hardly relevant.

Silver Crusade

That could work. I just really love warforged and eberrons artifacers, one of my favorite dnd classes to play, but as im not playing.. It is 100% possible to nix the Eberron mix and say Klokk has come here in Golorian to recruit colonists.

Hows this mix look.
Dwarf miner unit
Elf forester unit
Human farmer unit

Otherwise the premise is the same. Sent from all over here to colonize and explore this new world he found the Doorway for. The Doorway can only be open from the Golorian side once a year in the springtime two days after the solstice.

I would even add a small library and sage to aid in research.

Divine assistance would be limited to the two druids that venerate the Power of Nature, no specific diety followed by them. The only Cleric side of things would be the PC if there is a cleric/pally or the like.

( Klokk as the GMPC would naturally not be around that much, as his experiment is to trust in your Goodness and hope that you are successful. )

Silver Crusade

That is correct Qorin, I was just using the two worlds to add more fluff to background of the settlement..

And to slightly unnerve Golorians with walking talking machines that proport that they have souls and all of them druidic in faith.

And to really confuse Eberronians with the Warforged being treated as full House members.

Not to mention the whole creation forge is a great mechanical way of increasing population of settlement without having to involve higher magic like World spanning Doorways or Diplomacy with native races, assuming you guys even find any, you could go the wrong direction.
(its easier to say that the creation forge created X new Forged Ones then you gained 6 dwarfs 2 elf and 36 humans)

It would not take place in either world, It would however allow people to take from the various racial dragonmarked feats if they wanted to, with warforged allowed to receive marks of making feats prcs if they choose. People to play houses members if they wished to.

It was too allow so access to stuff from 2/3 of my favorite worlds that ive gamed in (i did not want to add dragonlance as i do not know the current age, left there 5 years after the war of the lance.)

Followers of any deity from those worlds would not be effected, as the heroes faith acts as the bridge of distance between them and their gods.

Far as Interest vs Recruitment.

I was just initially testing the waters, as I have never been the Storyteller, or an Player on Paizos Online Campaign section. I have yet to create the campaign thread it asks me to up top of this page.

There are 10 roles in a Kingdoms leadership that grant penalties without them being filled. Currently Klokk is recruiting for each of the following posts.

There are a couple alignment restrictions though to aid in trust amongst the colonists nobody evil will be allowed to come, plain and simple.

There will be some magic spells set to go off against none good people that enter the Treasury without the proper protocols being followed, to avoid senseless PC death from them, nobody thats going to rob their settlement (ie evil folks) are allowed. These protection Glyphs are scattered randomly across the settlement.

Ruler (first year GMPC, after that a PC)
Councilor (This will be the Sage NPC)
"non-evil"General
"Good" Grand Diplomat
"Good" High Priest (This will be the Druidsess and her Initiate)
"Lawful" Magister
"Lawful" Marshal
"non-evil" Spymaster
"Good" Treasurer
"Good" Warden
"non-evil" Explorer

Question: Should i just delete this thread and rewrite it as a recruitment post, Or is it fine to continue using this thread?

Do you guys want to wait till we can fill all roles, are you fine with me using npcs after we get say 4 or 5 players?

The Exchange

This seems interesting I have played in this kind of game. I just have two questions will this be pbp or will we use vtt and hangouts. If so when would we meet up.

Silver Crusade

Originally intended this to be for pbp but we could use that roll20 side or a skype "group" or something of the like. Unsure what VTT or Hangouts are.

I'll be making a Google site too keep track of things.

The Exchange

roll 20 is a vtt/virtual table top.
Google hangout is a free video chat.
Unrelated do you know what CODzilla means i read it in the forums but and it has been bugging me.

<Cleric Or Druid>-zilla.

Mostly a feature of 3.5, but in any case, it's the situation where the higher level divine casters start to far outshine martial characters as martial characters.

I vote PbP, but only because I won't be able to play otherwise.

I'm split on waiting to fill all the roles. I'm fine with using NPCs if we get 4 or 5 PCs, but it seems to me that if the goal is to fill all the roles with PCs, it would be better to fill them all, and then start the game, rather than adding people in.

If I were to play, I'd be aiming for the "non-evil" positions. Why? Because General, Spymaster and Explorer all appeal to me for different reasons. It would depend a lot on what I ended up with for a character.

The Exchange

Thanks for the link and info.
I could go PBP or online.

As for filling all the roles before the start I think waiting and putting up a recruitment ad is best just to make it easy on yourself.
Role-wise I would like to be the Magister or grand diplomat.

I'd be interested in trying this out. I'd be most interested if it allowed the Eberron 3.5 stuff simply due to there being lots of fun and good options in there. I'd prefer PbP and point buy, would probably prefer the diplomat or leadership role.

Dark Archive

Looks like you now have some interest and they seem to like the idea of Eberron elements. I'm just happy that there is a conversation. Go with your original plan; it has traction.

I like it.

I love eberron, I haven't gotten into a colonization game yet, and i would like to give it a try.

I would like to point you to this thread if you havent seen it already regarding eberron conversion.

i vote pbp for medium, i cannot dedicate a single time slot (the only one i can dedicate already goes to my IRL game). I have tried VTTs before and have found that people are incredibly flaky over that medium.

I could be interested in several positions. I have tons of eberron ideas. spymaster appeals to be quite a bit.

Recruitment post up, if you guys have any questions we are going to use that thread from now.. Do not respond to this post :)

I'd be interested, and I'd vote PBP. Because of the nature and length of kindombuilding type games, I could easily see reasons for allowing players to join the game after it had already started, and ways they can work their way into any particular way without muddying the story so I'd vote to go ahead once we get half the quota.. though on the other hand i could easily see why it would be more beneficial to wait until everything is filled, such as lightening the load for the DM (not having to rp 4-5 extra characters, and their decisions for building/maintaining a kingdom)
