major spoiler alert don't look if you're not caught up:
I yelled "HAIL HYDRA!" when they flashed the giant HYDRA emblem before going to commercial! ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

I saw a matinee showing of Winter Soldier today just so I was caught up for the show tonight. The movie is amazing. The show is definitely taking it up a few notches, finally.

Holy crap! That was cool. At the end, when <redacted> requested to escort <redacted> to prison, then turns around and <redacted>s <redacted> - what an excellent scene! I mean, I kind of saw it coming as soon as the escort request was made, but the way it was handled!?! Awesome.

I have a feeling <redacted> is going to make an awesome villain.

Sovereign Court

I knew something was up with <redacted> when he blatantly <redacted> the fake <redacted> two shows ago! :)

That was the moment when I realized what s/he was up to. And spent the rest of the show swearing at him/her.

Okay, you guys pretty much answered what I needed to know.

Got it. See Captain America 2 first, then watch this week's episode (currently sitting on my PVR).

You can watch and enjoy this week's SHIELD without seeing Winter Soldier first, but it will spoil you for some major plot elements in the movie. Flip-wise, WS will spoil one potential surprise in SHIELD, but there's plenty of other twists that build off of that, so you're better off seeing WS first.

Yeah, I wouldn't watch this week's SHIELD without seeing Cap2 first.

Also, with regard to the show: The show has gotten really good and I'm glad I stuck with it.

Y'know, MARVEL really shoulda had this warning in big red letters with a loud siren or something going off at the start of the episode.

Haven't seen Cap2 and won't for a least another week or so, in all likelihood.

I think it's brilliant. I was all content with waiting another week or so before going to see the movie, now I can't wait and I am strongly debating the merits of jipping my nephew and going to see it on my own before I go see it with him.

I got approval from the wife a month before Cap 2 came out, with weekly reminders, then daily reminders the week it came out! :)

It's like a vacation request: your boss always appreciate more than a day's notice! ;)

Oh, she wants to see it almost as much as I do. So do my kids. But the two oldest sons are in spring hockey leagues, so weekend matinees are tough to schedule.

And if I were to go see it on my own there would be a sizable mutiny, I think...

Next week's show is at 9 pm, with this week's episode coming on again at 8 PM. I assume this is being done to allow those who haven't seen CA:WS to do so and take in fully what happened before moving on. Which I highly support.

Four more episodes after the new one until the season is done, so it should be one helluva ride from here on out.

Guest starring Agent Hill on 4/29 and Nick Fury on the season finale 5/13.

Season Finale or Series Finale?

And now we see both the positives and negatives in making a TV show that is supposed to coincide and/or cross over with feature length films. The slow start had to have been due in large part to this crossover - which was awesome, don't get me wrong - but the negative side was the stuck in molasses nature of the first batch of episodes.

All said, IMO it's more positive than negative. You don't see many other studios like Marvel even attempting to do this kid of thing much less pulling it off successfully. There was Defiance but that's an MMO-TV event that didn't call for as much "Long Game" planning as Marvel.

And speaking of the Long Game, my vote on Agents of Shield is that this was the season not series finale. I'd be surprised if it doesn't get renewed for another season at this point. Even if it doesn't take a significant bump in popularity after this crossover event, I Disney/Marvel has the resources to run this for another couple seasons if it really wants to.

I couldn't find it today, but yesterday I saw a story that said ABC hadn't renewed any shows for next season, but MAoS was on the "highly likely" list. Since the show is owned basically whole-cloth by Disney/ABC and can serve as a launch/support platform for their very lucrative movie business, I doubt it operates under the same rules as a typical TV show, with regard to ratings, etc.

We'll see, but I'd be surprised if it's not back next season. Especially given the buzz about it the last couple weeks.

anyone else notice that look that Coulson shot Ward as Ward was leaving, either Coulson is on to him OR Coulson is his puppet master not Garret

Are Agent Hand and the two shield agents actually dead?
Liberty's Edge

Spoiler:
Well, either they're somehow alive, or he's not really a triple agent, just a full-on villain. I don't believe in him being on Coulson's side and killing them. Doesn't make sense.

Sovereign Court

Movie plot spoiler:
Maybe Hand just got iced.

atheral, GigNorseWolf, Lord Fyre - exactly what I was wondering / thinking...

spoiler:
When Garret started going off on what the Clairovoyant has done, he mentioned putting Raina in the same machine as Coulson. Maybe that machine is not only used for interogation, but also brain washing. In which case Ward could have unwittingly been a sleeper agent the whole time, and was only activated somehow in this episode.

I want to know the meaning of the voiceover at the very end while the camera was on Ward. I'm guessing he was remembering that, but not sure about the significance.

Interview with .. :
Brett Dalton talking about changes in his role. Marvel

spoiler:
Well that interview clarifies some things...so unless spending time on the Bus has made him develop a conscience it was all an act and he was actually a bad guy the whole time.

That is unless the writers are playing a long game with him and reveal a second character twist..which is doubtful.

I was just glad the traitor wasn't one of the Fitz-Simmons pair, even though that would have had a hell of an impact

My thoughts exactly.

Spoiler:
You know, this adds a whole new level of meaning to the spiky blob drawing way back in the first episode.

Just had a thought...:
Uh-oh. Assuming that Ward isn't playing triple agent and has been Hydra all along, that plane is headed for the Fridge. They've got Graviton in there, along with who knows what other baddies, just waiting to be released.

That said, I'm surprised they didn't mention anything about the Sandbox being compromised, since that's where they send all the dangerous artifacts.

Spoiler:

Given that when Ward shot the guards they had bleeding wounds (especially the one to Garrett's left) and the fact that they made a point to show blood pooling around Hand's hair and hand during the episode's stinger, it's safe to assume that he capped all three with something other than an Icer, with Victoria getting a double tap for good measure. Remember, May got dropped by Coulson using an Icer. The only wound she had was from taking a slug to her arm. Not from the Icer round.

Hail Hydra indeed.

Sovereign Court

If <redacted> got double tapped, I would be ok with it (which would mean that <redacted> is an actual bad guy, which I would prefer)

Unless of course <redacted> and the others were LMDs.

The is he/isn't he speculation may be cleared up in this interview over at marvel.com. MAJOR SPOILERS on the other side of that link.

Watched the episode Turn Turn Tunr

mind==blown.

I LOVED IT. SO GOOD.

I have a feeling Hand got shot in the shoulder with a real bullet, causing her to bleed, then shot twice with those icer rounds to shut her up and make her play dead. Those mooks at eighter side of Garret are dead though, but I don't remember seeing blood on them, so it's likely they were Life Model Decoys

One problem:

Spoiler:
I'm still not 100% convinced that Garrett is the Clairvoyant - or if he is, he's only a part of a collective/group acting as the Clairvoyant. He was present when they found the "first" Clairvoyant, so obviously someone else had to be doing the communication with the others through the screens/voice box. That someone else was privy to sensitive knowledge that Garrett, if he really is the true Clairvoyant, would have had to share with others.
I'm sensing there's something else going on we don't know about yet.

Sovereign Court

Spoiler:
A possibility. Zola is the clairvoyant. He's coming to the show?

Its hydra. "cut off the head and another one grows" is LITERALLY their motto. I don't think there's THE anything, clairvoyant or otherwise.

Spoiler:
Zola made sense to me. He's in a machine that, presumably, has contact with the outside world. He'd have access to all SHIELD's files, any surveillance cameras they could access. The TAHITI base would have been unseen if it's off the grid, and no record of it was entered into the database. If Garrett is also carrying around one of those eyes, all he needed to do was penetrate the base, and he did.

Though the idea that there's an AIM connection here still strikes me as a possibility. The whole thing sounds like MODOK. He's designed to calculate probabilities and predict outcomes in a way that would seem like precognition.

I think that you-know-who is playing a double blind and he is just cold enough to kill a few people to make it real. Or perhaps it is all fake but I don't think so.
