Gnomes? what are those?

(the other small race)
AH! the halflings with the funny hair!
Does anyone actually run one of those?
(the last one I saw someone had, was actually a Wayang in disguse..)

I have a 16th level Gnome Cleric and a 9th level Gnome Bard (been slow tracking him since... nearly forever?)

+2 con +2 cha. Awesome for bards and Sorcerers. The only reason not to be an aasimar sorcerer is that the human 1 hit point for a free spell known is THE thing to take. Also not bad for paladins.

+2 Str, +2 Cha HEloOOOOO paladin.

+2 Con, +2 Wis Cleric or druid heaven. The celestial servant feat is bacon topping on a bacon pizza with extra bacon.

+2 Dex, +2 Cha Archer bard/ray sorcerer niche market. Halflings do it better. Face rogue.

+2 dex +2 wis Clerictank, cleric archer, archer inquisitor,

+2 Int, +2 Cha ... yeah i'm lost on this one.

Darkvision is amazing given how much darkness comes up in pfs, as is Daylight. The two together are like peanut butter and jelly.. i can negate your darkness and be guaranteed to see in whatever;s left.

Yep, aasimar are great for paladins, a decent option for CHA-casters (SAD casters don't care much about that second stat boost, and also typically get a lot of mileage out of a human bonus feat), pretty solid for a subset of divine casters, and fantastic for bards and ninjas.

Meanwhile, for every other PC in the game, they're not that great of a choice. Last I checked, the PCs listed above were a minority of the options available.

Point is, although aasimar is a solid race, they don't have a +2 to "the two attributes you need", they have a +2 to the two attributes certain builds need. You know, just like every other race in the game.

The only PC race that actually has "+2 to the two attributes you need" would be the dual-talent human.

It has the two stats you need for

Bard
Cleric
Druid
Rogue (and ninja)
Monk
Paladin
Sorcerer

which pretty much makes the race the other human, with extras for that class.

My Archivist Bard took this one; but it is certainly a rare case. Mystic Theurge that uses Oracle instead of Cleric?

Aasimar are the most popular in my area by far. My half-orc was the most normal at the table when I sat down alongside 4 aasimar PCs.

Angel-blooded wackos.

It only has the two stats you need for cleric if you're a casting-focused cleric (or druid), in which case you only really need one stat (much like the sorcerer). Any melee-oriented cleric/druid should not be an aasimar. Monk works if you're a finesse guy; otherwise, you again have far better choices than aasimar.

So your list is actually:
Bard
Rogue/ninja
Paladin
Finesse monks
With the caveat that they're as good as any other race (not better) for WIS- or CHA-based SAD casters.

Sounds about like any other race.

You should probably just catch a cross-country flight and chuck a boon out the window every 15-20 minutes or so. ;)
Now I'm picturing Kyle driving around like Jesse in Breaking Bad, tossing boons out of his car in the middle of the night.

Ha! That's a funny image!

My PCs consist of 2 elves, 1 half-orc, 2 tieflings, and one GM credit baby.

I have a few concepts still in my head for:
3 humans (ulfen druid, archaeologist bard, and a demon-hunting gunslinger/paladin), and
1 aasimar (maybe, for a theurge).

Personally I don't see how aasimars get away with not having a stat penalty, especially when getting the str/cha bonus. I don't consider them game-breakingly OP though.

I may have to jack this concept, good sir.

4/5

Nothing normal about your half-orc Walter.

5/5 5/55/55/5

Any melee oriented cleric SHOULD consider an assimar: +2 strength and +2 cha for more channel smiting.

My melee druid is an aasimar. Con, wisdom, and the ability to get celestial companion. DR on an ankylosaurus in breastplate armor? Hell to the yes.

The sorcerer should grant a con bonus if they can, darkvision is also nice for single targeting in the dark and EVERYONE needs hit points. Con and Charisma are in fact the two stats they need. If it weren't for the humans extra spell known for a hit point I think these things would corner the niche on the sorcerer market.

Its not an accident that you're seeing a plethora of these things. The +2 +2 -0 is almost as good as the entire package the human gives you, and the cake comes with a lot of icing.

3/5

Aasimar and tiefling are the more powerful races. Aasimar is an bovious better choice in many build ideas. The orcale favor class bonus is awesome. Celestial servant is awesome. You are a native outsider not a humanoid so many spells cannot effect you. Darkvision is awesome. Spell like abilities are always awesome. The extra skill bonuses and resistances are just more goodies.

As a side note I wonder how many people have blood of angels/demons that use them?

If we're counting our own characters, I have 2 humans and 1 each of gnome, half-elf, half-orc, kitsune, tengu and tiefling. I also have one level 1 character which was last played as a pregen cleric, but will likely be something else.

It'd be easier for you guys if you had a poll, you know.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

I believe human's are still the most popular race in and around Minneapolis Minnesota. That said, Gnomes and Halflings see quite a bit of play up here for use with any class which gets a mount. I believe Dwarves to be the least popular race in this area, but a few more have cropped up as of late. Maybe Half-Elves are least popular? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

I have the following:
Tengu Rogue
Tiefling Witch
Half-Orc Oracle
Kitsune Sorcerer
Halfling Paladin
Dwarf Inquisitor
Wayang Alchemist

Let's see...

Human Rogue/Cleric, Human Sorceror, Human Monk, Half-Orc Multi-Prestige class Abomination, Human Fighter/Hellknight, Human Alchemist, Human Cleric, Human Bard, Tiefling Wizard, Human Wizard, Half-elf Summoner, Human Witch.

And almsot everyone in the group usually plays human with someone playing the token "weirdo" like a kobold or a dhampir.

Dark Archive 4/5 *

I suppose instead of just listing our characters, listing their levels would be important. Sure I have a few humans in my roster, but my kitsune and gnome are higher level because I play them more often.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Mine:
Half-Elf Ranger, Aasimmar Gunslinger/Sorc, Tiefling Ranger/Witch/Barbarian, Half-Elf Paladin/Oracle, Aasimmar Fighter/Monk, Tiefling Inquisitor, Human Samurai, Human Ninja, Human Summoner, Human Magus

So all of my characters have some human blood.

That said, I GM'd 5 slots and played in 1 slot of a con this weekend, and excluding pregens:

Elf Druid, Elf Wizard, Human Cleric x4, Tiefling Magus, Human Fighter x4, Human Oracle, Aasimmar Oracle, Halfling Bard, Halfling Ninja, Halfling Rogue, Wayang Magus, Human Monk x2, Aasimmar Cleric, Human Paladin (And my tiefling R/W/B)

I also had a ton of pregens, with the most common being monk and fighter.

No Dwarf, Gnome, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Tengu, or any other boon characters.

My favorite character I came across was a Human Cleric that was absolutely adorable.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I have a Hungerseed samurai, a Dwarf stonelord(purdiest dwarf ever), two human multiclass extravaganzas, a Half-Ekujae Infiltrator, one very dead Halfling paladin, a half-Tien half-Snowcaster alchemist and a Zenj arcane archer.

Loving the various ethnicities and race mixtures. And especially north-themed characters, since they get so many support products for both flavor and mechanics. I'd be all over a Vudra book, though. Maybe one day...

Human (Taldan) Rogue 6
Human (Taldan) Paladin 4
Human (Garundi) Gunslinger 5/Inquisitor 3 (Lawman of Abadar)
Tiefling Wizard 4
GM Credit Baby (TBD)

I have to agree with RobertN on what I've seen around here in Minneapolis/St Paul. Lots of humans, with a good number of tiefling arcane casters, and probably an annoying number of Kitsune ;)

But, there are always a few dwarves, halfings, gnomes, and half-elves around. A few elves and tengu. Haven't seen too man half-orcs, but there is probably some bias against them for some reason :D

I am personally hard-pressed to take anything other than a human, given the +1 feat and +1 skill/level. The Fast Learner feat from ARG is also great for any character with 13+ INT (gives you both HP and skills per level in Favored Class!)

The only reason I went Tielfing with my wizard was I was purposely trying to cheese the character (he now has a 24 INT as a 4th level wizard!) He's a bit of a "Sheldon Cooper" in personality (which is cause for his 6 CHA)

Gathlain - Ranger(Archer)
Kobold(Yes, really) - Witch(Doctor[Hedge Witch])
Ratfolk - Master Spy
Warforged(I'm sure this isn't legal) - Barbarian
Kitsune - Cavalier(This 1's my favorite)

And, thanks to this thread, I'm currently drawing up a Tengu Samurai.

None of those are legal except ratfolk as boon race and kitsune.

Also, holy massive thread necro.

The ones I've actually played are, in no particular order

Human Monk
Goblin Sorcerer (there's a story behind this one lol)
Aasimar Oracle
Gnome Sorcerer

I've created and never played many more characters. I must say that human is by far the most common for me.

EDIT: Jeez, didn't realize that this was a thread necro. Whoops!

Well, Melonfox did say that he was playing a drow necromancer...

I'm new to PFS, and my boyfriend and I are playing a pair of humans: a sylvan sorcerer and a reach cleric. Out of PFS, I am playing a kisune and he's playing a half-orc in a home game.

Our next two characters will be a pair of half-elves, though: an Oradin and a Rogue/Arcanist.

Locally in Minneapolis I've seen a bunch of humans, but a good mix of everything else: half-orcs, half-elves, gnomes, dwarves, halflings, kitsune and a few aasimars and tieflings. It's fun to see what people come up with for characters.

I am wondering if Wayang might be more popular if Paizo actually made a mini for it.

Actually, it is rather odd the number of races in the Advanced Race guide Paizo doesn't have a mini for.

I ripped the tail off of a Kobold and grafted a wand in place of its weapon for my Wayang Witch.

A buddy of mine took the Goblin Alchemist fig and painted it black for his Wayang Alchemist.

But, yes, it would be nice to come up with a couple different minis for the obscure races.
