Duskblade, I'm glad I didn't try to grapple YOUR succubus, that would be...difficult?

Yes.

But I'll stick with the one I've already grappled, thanks, someone else can try yours :p

That would entirely depend on where and how forcefully he bit her.

Like this?

+4 Poster Canopy Bed

Aura:Strong enchantment, CL:8th, Price:26,000gp, Weight:150 lbs.

Description: An antique wood or metal framed bed with anchor points and sheer curtains on the posts, decorated with luxurious bedding of the finest silks and satins. The bed requires a full 24 hours of continuous sleep without distraction or interruption to attune to the owner. Once attuned, the bed grants the owner a +4 enhancement bonus to any diplomacy or intimidate checks. Additionally it grants a +4 enhancement bonus to Grapple checks when wielding rope or other restraints. The owner of the bed gains a +4 bonus to saves against all mind-affecting abilities as well as a +4 to all DCs to resist against the owner's mind-affecting abilities.

Requirements: Craft Wonderous Item, eagle's splendor, charm person, animate rope; Cost: 13,000gp

That's... really well done.

I would add that spending a little extra time in crafting, or using denser materials would almost be a necessity considering some of the guests a succubus might entertain. I would say hardening each piece of wood going into the bed before final assembly, or, if the GM may allow other spells to be made permanent, consider permanent ironwood. I mean... we were discussing a grappling bare druid to begin with, were we not?

Or just make the whole thing out of adamantine, so no one can ignore the posts' hardness.

[Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that the 'extra rage powers' feat will definitely be required]

Also, the succubus must have the 'savage barbarian' archetype. After all, we cannot underestimate the benefits of 'naked courage' now can we?

That's heading into gestalt territory with the number of feats to pull it all together, but I think making something more awesome is a sacrifice many would be willing to make. With as much grappling that has already gone on in this thread, I'd actually say gestalt (or possessing qualities as a whole that cannot be described merely as a sum of its parts) is already a forgone conclusion.

About the biting, has anyone mentioned the fact that a dhampir character can have a bite attack and can ignore a number of negative levels equal to his/her own? ...I honestly cannot remember. What kind of build(s) would one suggest for the inclusion of a few sisters into the mix?

Given that this thread died a long time ago and spontaneously came back to life, does that mean it was killed by level drain from grappling a succubus, and that this thread is now a wight?

Ah, but you are mistaken. The thread never actually died. It was merely resting up. Now it's back for more fun. Unlike every other thread on the boards, this one cannot die and be necroed. It merely gets to roll over, go to sleep, then wake up, refreshed.

Thank you, I came up with it pretty much on the spot. That's a good idea for a boss fight, Succubus with PC levels or the vampire template, with a trio of dhampir guards.

House Rule:Succubus killing a target via level drain will cause the victim to awaken as a succubus the next evening.

So "experience" is what we're calling 'sleeping off the previous night' now?

Can the succubus take the Quicken Spell-like Ability to make it a Free action to make an act of passion? Which SLAs would constitute acts of passion?

That was asked before. No, it's not a SLA to drain energy. Spectral hand, telekinesis, and mage hand could be used for acts of passion, though.

Nonononono... Are there SLAs that comprise acts of passion in and of themselves? Unnatural lust? Black tentacles?

Oh boy, I better not suggest this houserule to my players, I give them a session or two at most until at the very least one of them decides to seek out a succubus.

I did have a PC that let a succubus grapple him last game though... and he accepted her gift. Fun fun fun.

Yaaaaay!

I had a succubus join the party for a while, disguised as an incompetent noblewoman fighter with a rapier. Eventually, of course, she got some "alone time" with one of them. The rest approached, unsure of what they were seeing at first, then when she had drained her target once, she told them "bye for now" and teleported off. Now they will be sooo paranoid about her returning...

I was occupied with testing the effects ov various Animated Objects items of various forms (mostly oblunged) with err against the said succubus. To be prepared. You know, in case we have to deal with more of them. The hard way i mean.

My PR however informed me that i shouldn't publicate my resarch until we have enaugh proof material. And it's quite difficoult since most of our "speciment" have gone missing.

We haven't discussed breathplay in this thread yet, Malachi. Good point! I'd have used a reposition combat manuever to get this thread back to the top of the Rules forums, but I was busy getting restoration cast on me. I'd blame Crimson Vixen, but well, I initiated the grapple :)

Without air, 2 rounds per point of CON, standard or full-round action reduces the remaining time by 1 round, DC 10 Constitution check at the end of that time, once around, +1 for each previous success. Once failed, pass out (0 hp), next round -1 hp and dying, third round dies from suffocation.

Yes, I have used these rules before in a game, in this context. Also, I was busy as well, I get sleepy after a good meal. ;)

With that reasoning, pro wrestling is an act of passion. Given that some wrestlers never want to retire, the reasoning holds....

I suddently realized that with a succubus around, breath of life suddently become better than cure light wound for off-combat healing.
Gotta load a lot of that for prolonged love healing sessions.

Succubus Cleric of Nocticula, Variant Channeling-Lust? +16 racial bonus to CHA, make all healing off-combat; just make sure that the Bard doesn't know any Marvin Gaye or Barry White.

Okay, I had to read all 831 posts to get here, for science, and finally, I can comment that we're all missing a very important consideration concerning the rules-as-written.

Energy Drain (Su) A succubus drains energy from a mortal she lures into an act of passion, such as a kiss. An unwilling victim must be grappled before the succubus can use this ability.

Let's break it down.
Part, the first: drains energy from a mortal she lures into an act of passion, such as a kiss.

dictionary(dot)com defines passion as
1) any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate.
2) strong amorous feeling or desire; love; ardor.

taking the first definition, anytime a succubus threatens a character's life, one could say that the character's strong instinct for self-preservation would classify as acts of passion, meaning the succubus could energy drain just by threatening you with death or injury, resulting in your willingness to passionately act in self-defense
I don't think this really fits in with the concept of the succubus, and I sincerely believe others would generally agree.

Therefore "an act of passion, such as a kiss" implies, IMO, that the act must be one of sensual or sexual nature, as per the second definition. Read: an act of passion likea kiss

Following this logic, I don't think that grappling a creature, even a succubus, with the intent to cause them harm, qualifies as an act of passion comparable to kissing. Certain actions during the grapple, such as grinding, gyrating, or giggling, perhaps; but despite its name, a rear naked choke is in no way sensual. Although I suppose that given certain intent, it very well could be.

Part, the sequel: An unwilling victim must be grappled before the succubus can use this ability

As has been previously stated, Pathfinder distinguishes between grappler/grapplee, but insofar as I can tell, not in a way that clearly enables us to determine whether or not a grappler is "drainable."
However, if we read it in a certain way, it is plausible that the caveat for unwilling victim is that it must be grappled in order to be forced into an act of passion. In other words, the act of grappling with a succubus is not passionate, but during the grapple the succubus could force you into an act considered passionate- or rather into an act which would only be willingly performed as a result of love or lust.

This is, of course, hypothetical supposition. In the interest of true scientific analysis, we'll need to gather empirical data concerning the nature of grappling positions which could be construed as forced acts of passion. We will then determine whether or not these qualify the succubus to drain energy, and if these positions do so to the exclusion of positions not considered passionate.

In the interest of PURE SCIENCE I will volunteer to unwillingly roll in the proverbial hay.

Also, 800+ posts and nobody referenced Nale and Sabine? Really?

An addendum: I would personally houserule that the succubus would need to pin an unwilling opponent before being able to energy drain.
You know, because of her fluff.....as opposed to the crunch
The flavor...text.

Well, tell you what, Raven: there need to be several experiments run.

A) Succubus pins unwilling opponent.
B) Succubus pins willing opponent.
C) Unwilling opponent pins succubus.
D) Willing opponent pins succubus.

I'm very rusty at my statistics; that looks like a chi square kind of thing. I also volunteer to help. I owe Crimson Vixen a rematch, I think. Or two. Or three. Or however many we need for proper statistical strength. At least 30, I should think.

I think Nale and Sabine avoided a mention because they low a bit outside the nominal data set. I mean, who ever thinks of starting a relationship with a succubus? Most of us are just over powered adventurers looking to rid ourselves of a few levels in the most interesting way possible.

Yeah, because of this thread! Though gags exist for a reason too. A succubus can communicate telepathically though, so antimagic fields exist for a reason too.

What I'm also seeing as this thread progresses is a need to stat up some of these succubi, like the barbarian succubus, the cleric of Nocticula, and the tetori. Again, for scientific research. What each one feels passionate about will be different, and thus important as we go along.

What level are you thinking? Each of these builds will have their own peak, so maybe just build them out to whatever level at which they really come together.
For example, I expect the barbarian to peak rather early in the build, but the Tetori will take a while.

I'll roll up the Cleric of Nocticula. Elite array 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8, Succubus being CR 7 with the monster rules leaves 16 class-levels to gain by level 20. Sound good?

I'm planning on posting a (semi-serious) report of the escapades of Selena once in a while (I'm hoping this PbP won't die for all the wrong reasons...)

As a plus, the game will have a nice helping of M, something fresh as we've mostly talked about S in this thread.

I think she'd gain strength and lose dexterity as well as the other size bonuses from being Small.

Or did you mean her "partner" grows in size? 'cause that could happen, with the right ministrations...
