I ran the module Scarlet Sun for a PFS event this last Wednesday. When, in the middle of the final boss fight, the party ranger declared, "I grapple the succubus and try to push her out the door" I nearly lost it right there. It seems that she had charmed the poor young lad and the last command she had given him was to help her escape. When he couldn't bring himself to attack the rest of the party to help in that escape, grabbing her and running for the door was the only thing he could think of.

So, are there penalties for trying to run off with a succubus once you grapple her?

Well, are you carrying or dragging her? I would imagine encumberance penalties would certainly be a factor.
For that matter, Drag is another Manuver all it's own, so you would likely take some manner of penalty for trying to switch between them...

Now I see we need to figure out if carrying (off) a succubus is an act of passion. Or dragging her off. I'm not going to volunteer for the latter, I'm no caveman.

I'd say yes, it's an act of passion under those circumstances, but it would not be in the succubus's best interest to weaken the person getting her away from the fight until she is away from the fight and safe.

If it is a consensual action like in this situtation(Rogue was charmed to help the Succubus escape, both then want to GTFO), I would say it wouldn't be a grapple or attack, simply carrying her in the easiest way (piggyback style most likely, though I'd go with the more flavorful reverse piggyback) would just be a matter of encumbrance of carrying the succubus.

Can a succubus charm an intelligent object?

Grand Lodge

Ok, pretty lady, I think I be of service to give one a "Piggyback" ride... Just no shenanigans!

My character, this one, can carry 918 lbs as a light load because of Muleback Cords and a Heavyload Belt.

Given that it is the Christmas season and I feel this thread is a gift that just keeps on giving, I have to present a quick couple of questions:

Would a succubus wearing a holiday-themed..."uniform" and wrapped in a bow in a box (tied with an appropriately high use rope check) be the perfect Christmas gift? If not, what would you suggest for the enterprising adventurer?

Imagine the song "Santa Baby" sung by a succubus - it is enough to make even a saint-templated St. Nicholas fall from grace! How would a paladin withstand such a temptation? Surely there are some items/spells/actions out there to help prevent what is otherwise an inevitable end result of this scenario?

For the first one, it might be a toss-up with a Priestess of Calistria, if you know what I mean.

For the second one, might I suggest ear-plugs or, straight out, wax. A Thunderstone or Deafness spell could help, although Blindness might not be a bad additional option.

This adventurer would love one of these please! Raven-haired if I get a choice of colors :) If some adventurer doesn't like his present, I call dibs!

It's a new year. I hearby proclaim this thread is well-rested :) Over the holidays, did anyone resolve any of our questions on this topic?

This thread keeps dying and getting raised. It's almost like people would spend millions of gold to determine if the rules work right.

Funny thread, but I think the grapple control is the best point.

"I'm going to kiss you, and drain your levels!"

"Not while I've got you in a choke hold/full nelson/camel clutch you're not!"

Seems the most reasonable thing to me. A succubus can drain levels if she is in control of a grapple, or gains control of a grapple she was not in control of.

Have you tested this theory that you can keep the young lady from giving you a quick kiss with a choke hold? What if she casts grease on herself just before you grapple her? How about the full nelson?

I do have to say that I'm not sure this will work with a camel clutch. Aside from the fact that pro wrestling moves are fairly well scripted; that looks pretty passionate to me. Especially if she can wiggle her tail while you're holding her from that position. I'm pretty sure that something unexpected will arise.

I wonder what "A Succubus In A Grapple"-themed SuperStah! challenges for each round would be like?

Rejected for 2015 Superstar. Not a weapon, armour, ring, rod, or staff.

OMG, ring, rod, or staff... fuel for the fire, baby...

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Well, nobody said it was for the 2015 competition. I stand by that gloves are the best choice here. The alternative would be a corset, of course.

Of course, I have frequently heard it said that "staff is hard mode"...

*sigh* I suspect the succubus is getting bored with you guys by now. What if the succubus is bored, does that make it easier or harder to grapple her?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Easier, because she is flat-footed and can be surprised.

Actually, our succubus panel member has been MIA since before Christmas. She may have gotten bored. Or gone off to experiment on her own. Or answered Nocticula's call. I don't know. If and when she reappears, we can always ask.

Or she's sleeping off a lot of energy from the holidays. I mean, who doesn't want to find a succubus under the Christmas tree? Maybe someone got that special gift this year and she's now back in the Abyss, nice and cozy and digesting a good meal.

Alternately, what Succubus doesn't want to find someone(s) under her tree?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Well, when she's up a tree and there's a bear-shaped druid under it... she might decide to stay up there a while longer.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

This is a succubus we're talking about. If she's up a tree, then there's an elf up there with her. Much more likely she's tied up somewhere, probably literally, if not doing the tying herself.

Or she's climbing towards the angel at the top of the Christmas tree, mistletoe at the ready.

But the question I was answering was purely about an audible/visual set of ... queues.... Touch was not mentioned, at all.

Would a Paladin sit still for a lap dance from a Succubus?

Only if she isn't good at it.

So much awesome in this thread. I have thought about clicking the Faq marker on a whole lot of it.

Which brings us back to the question about what constitutes an act of passion :)

What's the DC to convince her to wear it? Or the DC to bluff her it makes her look prettier so she will wear it without question?

Opposed skill checks don't have set DCs.

To wear it? Diplomacy, Intimidate, or Bluff against the succubi's Sense Motive. And the bluff check will be answered with a roll against your AC for suggesting that she's not already the prettiest being you've ever seen.

And the answer will probably be against your touch AC for the slap she's going to deliver upside your head :)

And welcome back, oh lovely succubus :) You have been missed most sorely!

A thought came to mind. What kind of magic items would succubi create if so inclined, and what would the comedy of them making intelligent items look like?

I never said you weren't the loveliest sight around. I suggested that the ring could make you look even better. Is there a maximum to "prettiness"? I don't think so.

Okay, you do have a point, however taking an arrow to the knee might help your bluff check to convince me.

What kind of magic items? Weapons, armor, wondrous? I'm always up for a creative mood.

You know what "taking an arrow to the knee" means right? Its a metaphor for getting married. So the succubus finally settles down huh? ;) Lol!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

There is usually the little point of "till death do us part". It... is usually not a problem for a succubus to pretend to be a sweet wife until the wedding night...
