Hu Manum Pullum and his mighty battle cock, Embassy, now have new artwork.
Ravingdork |
Ok, went ahead and added level, also separated burn into its own column so it's easier to read now.
Also, noticed I messed up on one of my algorithym, so that Substances weren't being properly separated, it's all fixed. Enjoy. :)
Do you mind if I post this to the tools section of my gallery?
Ravingdork |
Where do you find the weird, amazing artwork???
DeviantArt mostly.
He might have taken a picture and used photoshop to alter it, I know he's done that in the past with some of his pictures.
True.

Earlier I switched out Sin's Combat Expertise feat for the Extra Wild Talent feat. Ryzouken just reminded me that Combat Expertise is a prerequisite feat for Moonlight Stalker. I have instead switched out Weapon Focus and have adjusted Sin's stats accordingly.
Also, can someone please tell me what her final Pulling/Pushing infusion modifiers are supposed to be? Seems I had them too high before, and have adjusted them as well, but I'm not sure how I could have missed the mark by a whole 4 points. What am I forgetting now that I had in my head before?

BAB +12
Con +10Elemental Overflow +5
PBS +1
By my count, it's +28 with Point Blank Shot, +27 without it. Note: Pushing and Pulling simply specify "attempt a maneuver" but do not limit it to only casting stat + level, like many maneuver spells or the Grappling infusion do.
Tels |
I'm doubting combat maneuvers count as ranged attacks for the purposes of Point Blank Shot.
However, she does get +1 from her Expanded Element.
Ah, I forgot that one. You're probably right on PBS, but if it does apply, that's another +1. Did my count answer your question or did you account for everything I listed (and forgot)?

The master archer, Dayer Rann, has replaced his Hammer the Gap feat for Martial Focus: Bows (Weapon Master's Handbook), which gives him a much more reliable (albeit minor) damage boost with his bow.
As an aside, expect to see a lot of changes/new characters in the near future as I start adding things from the Weapon Master's Handbook. This book is fantastic!

Did Dayer pick up an inherent bonus to his ability score somewhere? I'm trying to reverse engineer his stats (25 pt buy right?) and, either you used a 33 point buy, or he's picked up some inherent bonuses to his ability scores. Or I just can't figure out his starting ability scores.
He's got a +6 str/dex belt, so his scores are 18 and 20, respectively. With 3 level up increases, this doesn't account for having, essentially, two 18s in his point buy.
With a 17,18,12,8,14,8 pt buy, he could bump Str by +1, and Dex by +2, but this is a 33 pt buy. If he instead has 15,18,12,,8,13,8 (25 pts) and gets at least two different inherent bonuses (such as a +2 str or dex and a +1 wisdom) then he can have a correct pt buy.
Ravingdork |
Yeah, it does appear somewhat off.
Best I can get is:
Str 24, Dex 26, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 8 - Stats as they are
Str 16, Dex 17, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 8 - Stripped stats
Str 10, Dex 13, Con 2, Int -2, Wis 5, Cha -2 - Stat costs
Which is only 1 point away from 25-point buy.

CHARACTER UPDATE
The chaokineticist, Sin, has had her race changed to the much superior caligni, from The Bestiary V. Now that she has see in darkness as part of her race, she was able to exchange Eyes of the Void and Greater Eyes of the Void for Gravity Control and Reverse Shift. Her Constitution and Will saves are also higher, though her skills took a hit.
Can you just imagine her phasing in, in shadow form, similar to this guy?

CHARACTER UPDATE
Esmeralda, duel-wielding dervish, has had two weapon training groups (that she didn't even use) and two feats switched out for new options from the Weapon Master's Handbook.
Not only has her attack and damage rolls with her short swords increased dramatically, she can now spend a move action and a standard action to apply the frightened condition to nearly any creature not immune to fear. Not even ancient red dragons dare stand against her master swordsmanship.
(Note that there are two versions of Esmeralda, a standard fighter, and one with the two-weapon warrior archetype; this change applies to the former.)
Pollivar Mormont, the dancing dervish and giant slayer, has had a similarly useless weapon training switched out for Armed Bravery, allowing him to add his Bravery bonus to his Will saves.
Himo Galonodel, celestial savior, gave up an unused weapon training and is now able to better protect himself and his allies.
Dreg Jawbreaker can now apply his Weapon Focus and Greater Weapon Focus feats to all hammers, not just earth breakers.
Ravingdork |
Previous post timed out...
Dreg Jawbreaker has also had nearly all of his feats reworked. He is now able to apply his hatred and defensive training bonuses against anyone who harms him, and generally hits harder with his earth breaker than before.

CHARACTER UPDATE
Yiankun Lee, 15th-level stone sorceress, has had her ability scores and equipment adjusted.
She lost a few pages of spell knowledge and her orange prism ioun stone, but she gained a medusion in return. Her enemies must now make two DC 35 Fortitude saves at a -2 penalty (thanks to her new medusion), taking the lowest result (thanks to Persistent Spell) against her flesh to stone spell or be petrified.
She can then re-sculpt them to her liking with her gloves of shaping.
I also reduced her Strength and increased her Constitution and Intelligence. She now has 15 ranks in Bluff (rather than 2), 10 ranks in Disguise (rather than 8), and a lot more hit points.
She really has nothing to fear anymore except for shadows and other strength draining creatures, and creatures immune to petrification.
Ravingdork |
"Creatures immune to flesh to stone" is an unfortunately large category, including agathions, angels, archons, azatas, constructs, behemoths, great old ones, inevitables, kamis, swarms, and undead.
Also, creatures not made out of flesh, which probably includes oozes, plants, and some outsiders.
When I first created the character, that list was a LOT smaller.
In any case, the odds of a NG character running afoul of angels, archons, azatas, inevitables, and kamis is unlikely. Behemoths and Great Old Ones were already basically a "You Lose" button for EVERY CHARACTER, and swarms aren't much a threat at this level, so I'm not too concerned about those either.
Undead are the only real problem that would be both common threats, and immune to most of her current spell selection. (She's basically got magic missile and telekinesis and not much else against them.)
I guess some weaknesses are inevitable with this level of focus.

NEW CHARACTER!
Meet Cúran, an 8th-level elf oracle with a 12th-level animal companion. Like many elves, she is quite attuned to nature, so much so that the voices of nature spirits never really stop talking to her.
CHARACTER ERRATA
Cúran is now an 8th-level elf oracle with a 9th-level animal companion thanks to changes to the Advanced Race Guide, specifically the reduced rate of the oracle favored class bonus. Oddly enough, due to typos and mistakes, some of the companion's numbers (CMB/CMD, skills, and encumbrance) actually got higher.

CHARACTER UPDATE
Dayer Rann has had his Martial Focus feat switched out for the Advanced Weapon Training feat.
He loses 1 point of damage from his bow attacks as a result, but the base bow damage increases from 1d8 to 2d6. An obvious upgrade.
Hate that I didn't catch it the first time. The two feats are barely a page apart. Anyone care to calculate the DPR for this badass?
Avoron |
I'll assume Dayer is using Rapid Shot, Manyshot, Deadly Aim, and his boots of speed.
He then has a DPR of 228.6 against an opponent with an AC of 30. Enough to eliminate the average CR 15 opponent in one round.
If he is close to his enemies, he can get +7.62 DPR from Point Blank Shot and possibly more from attacks of opportunity with Snap Shot.
Ed Reppert |
Oh, gods. Before I played WoW, I never even thought about dps or dpr or whatever. Now it's everywhere!
Okay, geek challenge: produce a spreadsheet showing expected dpr for each character class at each level, 1-20. Multi-classes are optional. :-)
Tels |
So there are multiple opinions as to what expected dpr is? Okay, there are a lot of variables. Maybe it's a meaningless calculation then.
DPR is only helpful for comparing the relative strength of damage focused builds to other damage focused builds. It can only aid in the estimation of the strength of a build in a party.
For example, if you build out a mounted charging character, your expected DPR is likely to be very high, but it's also single target. In the game you play in, your GM might be favoring many weaker enemies, instead of a lesser number of stronger enemies, or even single bad guys. In such a game, your DPR actual contribution will be far less because you can only charge once per round.
Calculating DPR can also change wildly depending on party composition. For example, there is an oft overlooked aspect of party buffs when people talk about the generally acknowledged "weaker" classes, such as the Monk or Rogue. Some people think these classes are overpowered, and forget that the Cleric and Wizard jacked them up with 4 or 5 buff spells before they enter combat.
So you might have calculated out a low DPR, or even an average DPR character, only to see far higher DPR than you expected due to party buffs.
Calculating DPR is only a tool to help you judge the relative strength of a build. Your actual mileage may vary depending on the composition of the enemies you face, and the party makeup.
Generally speaking though, a frontline martial character (main damage dealer) is often expected to be able to kill a CR+2 creature in less than 3 rounds, on average. Secondary martial characters should be shooting for about 5 rounds.

Sounds like a reasonable rule of thumb. Thanks.

CHARACTER UPDATE
The master dispeller, Sela Kurn has given up his Knowledge is Power arcane discovery for the Spell Focus (abjuration) feat, which is a prerequisite for his Spell Specialization feats (I must have switched it out by mistake at some point). This will cause his CMB and CMD to be lowered by 10 points, but is necessary to make the character legal.
The mythic variant of Sela Kurn featured the same error. This version keeps the arcane discovery, and has instead switched out his Bolstered Resilience feat, which was of limited use since it has a cap of DR 20.
I have also corrected an error in the master of the flying castle, Lweoh Estalc, which resulted in his castle's AC being one higher (I didn't account for its metal construction). Thank you Dreamtime2k9 for pointing out the omission.
Please don't hesitate to point out any other errors you guys might find. I'm all too happy to keep things on the straight and narrow.

I'm curious...
- How often do you frequent the gallery?
- How often do you frequent this thread?
- Do you download the characters for offline use, or do you access them directly only as needed?
- If you download the characters, do you update your local files whenever I announce an update?
- How many characters have actually seen use in your games?
- Did you have to modify them extensively to better fit your game?
- Do you make use of any of the other tools provided by the gallery?
- If there was anything you'd like done differently, what would it be?

How often do you frequent the gallery? Fairly often.
How often do you frequent this thread? Often to see what people are saying, rarely to voice my own opinion.
Do you download the characters for offline use, or do you access them directly only as needed? Do not download, access for curiosity purposes.
If you download the characters, do you update your local files whenever I announce an update? No
How many characters have actually seen use in your games? Do not run a home game, so none.
Did you have to modify them extensively to better fit your game? Nope.
Do you make use of any of the other tools provided by the gallery? I use the images you have on display.
If there was anything you'd like done differently, what would it be? Would like to see some of the newer rules get used. Variant Multiclassing, etc.

1) Fairly often.
2) Same answer.3) I don't download them, I reference them as needed. Mostly because I use your characters as inspiration for my own.
4) Null
5) I haven't used any of your characters in game, nor have I used any of the ones they've inspired as I went on a 3 year hiatus due to raising my sister's children. I've only recently gotten back into playing the game.
6) After a fashion. I try to design every character, even PCs using the standard Heroic NPC Stat array of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. My reason being, is, if the character can't stand on it's own using those stats, and needs more generous stats, does the character really function? I try to build for the least optimal stat array offered, and go from there. Anything more generous will only make the character better after all.
7) The "tool" I use the most is your blank charactersheet. I've also opted to use your Kineticist Talent sheet a few times, though I haven't built many Kineticists as I expect I'll only get to use them when I run a game. My GM's are notoriously picky on what content they allow and they've been burned a lot by anything 'psychic' in the past so are very reluctant to let anything psychic in their games, no matter the relative strength of the class.
8) Since I reverse engineer a number of your characters for my own use, a progression of how their stats are allocated would be nice, but that's just me. The only other thing that comes to mind is a brief blurb on character tactics if they've got any good tricks up their sleeve that aren't immediately obvious.
Ravingdork |
Thank you for your responses. I look forward to receiving many more.

This is something I've already tried to incorporate recently, not into the sheets per say, but here in the thread. The last few characters I've posted came with extensive introductory descriptions of their favored tactics, particularly if said tactics weren't immediately obvious.

Yes, this is true. The only real issue with this is that, come some time down the line and someone looks at that same sheet again, they may not recall the post on the forums, if they've even seen it.
thunderspirit |
I come to this thread fairly often — at least as often as there's a new post from someone on it. I lurk but rarely comment.
I haven't downloaded or used any of the PCs; instead, I use them largely as inspiration for my own PCs. I have a few I would consider for NPCs.
I've cribbed some of the art, and used the DPR and costing spreadsheets in the past (in no small part cos I've lacked the motivation to make my own). When I delve more deeply into Occult Adventures I suspect I'll make good use of the Wild Talent spreadsheets.

1) Hum not very often , mostly because i already got tons of stuff out of it , but it is marked on my favorites.
2) When i see it on the front page , i used to do it more , but now i just give it time for even more stuff to appear.
3) Download everything , from the PCs to the images...
4) Usually i do once i check the thread.
5) Well , none. Usually im looking for ideas and their builds and how they work more than a finished product.
6) It is not about me having to do it , it is more that i prefer to do it so it first exactly what i want , even more because sometimes i check your build so i get ideas for my own PC builds :P.
7) Yeap , i download the images...
8) Hum , i did check each sheet and did this , but i guess something that actually divided them class by class or something like that would be nice , but then again , like i said it isnt a problem for me to do it once i download them myself anyway. Heh the issue was mostly those that multiclass :P.
I really happy with it actually , thanks for the awesome work , i personally love it.

Hey, I need a friendly tech savy forum member to assist. I'm running a game tonight, have an extra player, and he'd really like to play Mr. Owl, 10th level gunslinger. Unfortunately, it doesn't display on my phone. The link won't open for a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Google chrome. I tried desktop mode as well. Can someone post a link to a working copy I can use or download (pdf works fine) or a workaround for viewing it? He's going to end up playing with a piece of paper with some average numbers and pretending it's a real character if I don't pull a working sheet out of my ***.
I appreciate the assist, folks. Game starts in like 30 to an hour.

Doomed Hero: Which link are you using? Is it from a thread post? Those are generally unreliable, especially the older ones. It's always best to go to the OneDrive directly, which is linked to in the original post as the "master link."
Shiroi: I'm not at all smartphone-savvy, but I imagine that if you can't access it on the phone directly, you could just download it to a computer and then transfer it to your phone via cable or wireless sync.

... oh. Master link. Got it. *nat 20 facepalms*
I didn't have a computer available at the GMs house, we agreed the more system savvy players could throw it together in a few hours and explain what he'd picked to him. He can retro it later.
I appreciate the advice, the master link works fine on my phone (takes a small while to load but it's a big page).
I didn't realize just how much was in here. Checked a link for the Arboreal Kineticist a while back but just made a mental note to come back here later. This is some really useful stuff. It'd be more useful if I had printer paper lately, but even from a phone this is some nice PC or NPC on demand. Cool extra toys too.
Thank you very much!

Not as often as I used to, but when I was checking it at least once or twice a week.
- Do you download the characters for offline use, or do you access them directly only as needed?
I download the files for offline use.
- If you download the characters, do you update your local files whenever I announce an update?
I try to stay current.

At least 3 but that number could be 5 if you include the characters I changed the names of and just used the stats.
- Did you have to modify them extensively to better fit your game?
I change the names, and sometimes the backstories.
- Do you make use of any of the other tools provided by the gallery?
I download character art for use for important NPCs
- If there was anything you'd like done differently, what would it be?
I'd love to see a breakdown of the High level Characters at levels 5, 10, 15, 20 but I totally understand why that kind of thing isn't done.
