NEW CHARACTER

Ord Zheng, 9th-level human ronin thief - Ord Zheng is a ronin turned thief from Tien, and the younger brother of Bao Zheng.

Ord started out as my attempt to prove that fighters can be quite skillful if desired. One that ended up with 14 skills with max ranks (all of which are treated as class skills), and a +4 bonus to all of his other untrained skills...which he treats as trained.

It's a good thing we have unchained rogues now. Otherwise, one would wonder what would be the point of a rogue when even the fighter can out-skill them.

Conceptually, Ord ended up becoming something of an amalgam of the characters Mitsurugi, from the Soul Calibur video game series, and Conan (who I hope needs no introduction).

Enjoy!

What books are improved/inspired bravery and improvisation/improved from?

Improvisation and Improved are from Advanced Race Guide. Inspired Bravery and Improved are probably from Ultimate Intrigue.

Nice skilled build that can damage. Poor rogue.

Half-elf and Evangelist can get +10 to skills without ranks for the cost of 2 more feats, and some BAB.

Nice! I just might make some adjustments down the road...

NEW CHARACTER

Introducing Allisar, the Giantess (6th-level half-orc impaler).

Allisar was originally an NPC cohort I created for another character, but then I decided that, with only a few tweaks to her ability scores and starting gear to get her up to PC status, she would fit right at home in the gallery.

I have also added Allisar's NPC counterpart to the NPC portion of the gallery. [link]

She can tank, deal damage, and control the battlefield, all at once.

Perhaps my searching isn't up to snuff, but it doesn't look like anyone has taken you up on your offer for Crimm Corann. I think it's a longshot since there are some pretty notable differences, but I couldn't help but think of Oberyn Martell from GoT when I read Crimm's character sheet.

So?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Crimm Corann was statted long before there was an Oberyn Martell*.

*:
On TV at least, and I hadn't read the books until years after I created Crimm.

It just occurred to me that spending a feat slot to get Improved Shield Focus in order to negate the Allisar's shield check penalty is silly when she can spend 100gp to make it darkwood, thereby negating the penalty and freeing up a feat that could be used to increase her combat potency.

I have edited both versions of the character. They each now have two less potions and a heavy darkwood shield. The PC version now has the Cut from the Air feat, allowing her to negate ranged attacks made against her or her allies.

The NPC version has the much simpler Vital Strike feat, which allows her to better make a memorable impression on PCs who refuse to sit still for her full attacks.

Enjoy!

I found my revisited "Teleport ranger"

He is at lvl 20, and 15-point buy.... Yeah, i like to build my characters in 15-points and then increase depending on the game, it saves this character some money if its 20 point buy as you dont need to buy a manual of dex.

Dimensional Assassin.

This is a revisit to my "dimensional savant" craze i had a while back and i build it as kind of a "Demigod-hunter".
No idea how he would fare as a PC as the build is heavily reliant on getting your dex up and it does have some lesser feats like the Greater two-weapon fighting feat and such.

If anything its a very thematic Red Mantis Assassin ^^

Edit: Forgot to add: he is made with the background skill system from Unchained.

Rogue/Evangilist

lvl 6: "Kain" 4d6-low My Bloodrager from the "Wrath of the rightous campagin.
Bloodrager Steelblood.

lvl 10: "Dimensional Dervish of Dawn" a 34-point buy for a high attribute game.
Dancing through the dimensions.

Quick question about Grunk, the goblin assassin

Why using rapier and shortsword when you have weapon focus on one of the 2?

To use two rapiers would mean a -4 to hit, and to use two short swords would mean giving up the higher crit range.

It's an older character made by a friend of mine. It hasn't been updated to take advantage of newer rules. I suppose you could update it with something like an effortless lace, which would allow him to wield two rapiers at only -2 to hit.

LOTS OF CHARACTER UPDATES!

With the recent release of the Magic Tactics Toolbox, I have had the pleasure of updating several spellcasting characters (and then some!):

Cracked Man, The (19th-level wizard) - Now possesses the extremely thematic particulate form spell, allowing him to crack apart at will.

Dreg Jawbreaker (9th-level fighter) - Lost weapon focus and weapon specialization with all hammers, and may now add magical enhancement bonuses and abilities to hammers. Spontaneous bane anything works particularly well with his Dwarven Hatred style feats I find.

Hagor (8th-level pyrokineticist) - Lost Toughness and gained Expanded Metakinesis in its place, allowing him to ignore 5 points of spell resistance with his kinetic blasts.

Haylannar Whart (15th-level mythic transmuter) - Lost the Rat Catcher feat in favor of the Scale and Skin feat, which grants him an additional +2 natural armor bonus while polymorphed (included where appropriate).

Rowan Mouri (9th-level bone sorcerer) - Gave up enervation for the infinitely more thematic wall of bone spell.

She'er Falen (15th-level fire sorcerer) - Gave up story feat, homebrew spell, and favored class bonuses for +1 damage per die on most attack spells, higher fireball DCs, and a few extra hit points.

ENJOY!

Question:

What program were you using again to get setups like that? Or are you outright writing down the feats and their purpose?

Just wondering as i tend to stick to Myth-weaver for my sheet needs.

observation: ord zheng works better as half-elf for reflexive improvisation and still retains the ability to take human feats, so can still take improvisation and improved improvisation.

Ooh, thanks Zauriel56. I've made the recommended adjustment.

Draconkight, I just use Microsoft Word to type of my character sheets. You can find templates for it in my gallery, in the Tools folder.

Yeah, most of the above characters saw a minor dip in their AC and CMD due to the jingasa of the fortunate soldier nerf. If you ask me, it would have been better if they had hiked up the price to be more balanced, rather than making it a borderline useless item no one will ever again take for some unfathomable reason.

There were a great many characters not listed who are staying the same, but have had their overall effectiveness reduced (many such characters were regular users of feather step slippers and quick runner's shirts).

What did they nerf with the Jingasa anyway?

So Raving is there any holes in your compendium when it comes to Classes, themes or gimmicks?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Jingasa now grants a +1 deflection bonus to AC instead of luck. This means it doesn't stack with many spells or your ring of protection. They also made it so it can negate one crit.

Not once per day. Just one, ever.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That just make Jingasa outright useless for its price, you are better off with another item entirely...

Dracoknight wrote:

Yep. Most of the characters had the jingasa switched out for different items (or upgraded items). A few kept it for thematic reasons.

Most of the other items that got nerfed in this latest errata didn't get switched out though. Though they are far less useful than before, most still have some use to their respective builds.

Jeez. Paizo cant balance their stuff so they nuke it instead?
Well... might aswell wait for them to make weapon-cord into a standard action because one of the designers feel like its too unwhieldy for him to get his wired mouse to get unstuck from his chair.

i have an idea. and its starts out with one or two levels of Brawler(Mutagenic Mauler) this gives the character access to a mutagen. after taking those levels you focus on lvling up as an Alchemist (Beastmorph/Promethean Alchemist) for 13 levels.

((now before you pitch a fit read the archetypes they do not block each other in anyway. the Brawler lvls up as an Alchemist. the Beastmorph does not modify the mutagen in anyway. Promethean Alchemist only gets rid of the Alchemist's mutagen.))

during or after gaining the thirteen levels of alchemist you will take the prestige class Mad Chemist.

this is a close combat companions build thing you will pick up a mauler Tumor Familiar as soon as you can and focus on stuff that will let you attack as often as possible as soon as possible and working as a team with your alchemical buddies.

Yeah, It's getting ridiculous. The jingasa took the cake. They have many magic items that are quite literally useless now. Ridiculous.

It was just pointed out to me in another thread that this, per a strict reading of the feat, should be a +3 bonus to natural armor, not a +2 bonus.

If you take requests (or I'm missing it), how about a build to take advantage of the new Bulette Style from AMH?

An overrunner!

I know we'll get something crazy indeed...

I already have an overrunner in the gallery.

Perhaps we could find a way to incorporate the new feats onto the character though?

EDIT: I have incorporated the feats into the character. Had to give up Cleave, Combat Reflexes, Great Cleave, Greater Overrun, and a few potions in order to make it work. Also changed out his breastplate for the heavier tatami-do. Fultor is slower now (trading fast movement for the hurler archetype), but he now has a higher AC, combat maneuver bonus when overrunning, and does a lot more damage on an overrun (I estimate 1d8+28 at a minimum while raging).

Does that do it for you Snakers?

Why do you think it matters in a fantasy setting where neither the Japanese nor the Chinese exist? :P

Any "Hulk" or Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde style alchemists in the Emporium? With all the new feats/tools/etc available from various books, I'd love to see your take on a character like that.

You may want to take a close look at Robilar Smythe/Duneharrow for the classic Jekyll/Hyde concept.

If you're looking for characters who simply hulk out however, here are some other good options might be of use to you:

  • Nudel, the Devourer, a druid that turns into a Behemoth Hippopatomus and swallows most enemies whole in a single mighty chomp
  • Haylannar Whart, a cannibal transmuter whose DPR puts most martial characters to shame.
  • The Lovely Sin, a caligni chaokineticist who worships and emulates the mighty nightshades, even transforming into one during battle.

If you search for their names in this thread, you can see some basic strategies and tactics for each of the latter three characters (Sin for example).

Linkified. (Couldn't copy and paste the stupid URL on my tablet earlier.)

Silver Crusade

Have you got any Astomoi yet, Ravey?

I know they must be good for something. Good Int and Wis, always silent for casting. Their telepathy is unclear though, and they can't do range at all. I was thinking a Lore Shaman with those stats and using the familiar for ranged eyes somehow.

Nope, no astomoi yet, 0o0o0 O 0o0o0; though they are interesting enough that they are bound to appear in the gallery eventually. Might consider it for some of the new kineticist archetypes I've been hearing about that switch out Constitution for Intelligence or Wisdom.

An astomoi lich (mysthic theurge perhaps?) could be very interesting as well, as the template would remove essentially all of their racial drawbacks.

Silver Crusade

Astomoi Lich Psychic can use both Int and Wis boosts, get rid of their Con penalty stat and remove both the verbal and somatic components of their spells. They just hover around, in pitch-dark silence, thinking about evil things.

NEW CHARACTER

Introducing Ariel Grimsby, a high level undine weather witch, survivalist, and shaman known for consorting with (and calling upon) the spirits of her ancestors.

Ariel Grimsby, Undine shaman 12 (speaker for the past)

Ariel is really quite versatile, able to debuff her enemies with her phantom touch and misfortune hex; control the battlefield with entangling vines, walls, and fog clouds (which only she can see through); aid her allies with buffs, healing, or restoration; or just summon up her ancestors to fight alongside her while she delivers blasts and curses alike.

Ariel's high initiative (and temporal celerity ability) and high Perception almost always ensures that she will get the jump on the enemy, and her high AC (despite being nearly naked) gives her the staying power needed to finish the job.

Her various utility spells and staff of the weather round out her options.

Ariel's powers all follow one of three themes: elements and weather, ancestral spirits, and oceanic might. For example, she doesn't dominate people with dominate person; she calls an ancestral spirit to possess her target and follow her commands. She doesn't conjure walls of stone, but walls of coral. She doesn't throw objects and creatures with telekinesis, her ancestral poltergeists take care of that. When combat breaks out, it is absolutely clear to all that one must find a way to break past the many intervening barriers of angry spirits in order to physically harm her.

Enjoy!

How can the somatic components be removed?

Psychic spells are a separate category like Arcane or Divine. Psychic is different because ey dump verbal and somatic, instead having thought and emotion. Instead of speaking, you have to be calm, and your emotions can't be affected. Intead of moving, concentrating merely becomes harder. See more here.
