So, either they are putting Aasimar/Tiefling boons back into rotation or whoever thought of voltroning race boons that are 2+ years out of print is an idiot.
I don't know... I still have an Aasimar and a Tiefling boon... but my Tiefling is from the original issue so it's really old...
Edit: But the Aquatic Elf is more interesting to me than the Merfolk - heck, even the Gillman is more interesting than the Merfolk (I could see running a Gillman Flame Dancer Bard)...

I do think that the Gillman is in some ways harder to put together than the Merfolk for that reason. Aasimar and Tiefling boons are hard to find and highly sought after.

This is why we can’t have nice things. Anytime Leadership tries to do something cool, some immediately proceeds to insult them. To top things off you go on to mention that you have two unused Aasimar. Even two years later people still have unused Assimar boons, so it must not be as bad as you are making it out to be.

...or it could be honestly felt by someone newer to the campaign that wasn't around for the alleged 'Great Planar Being Play-A-Thon' that this was a huge slap in the face.
It's hard to judge intent from text, and we're working from a second-hand interpretation of a boon text reading, and in addition, let's all just be cool, eh?
...cool like the grave...

...unless OPF leadership is considering an alternate route to particular type races depending on the course of the campaign?
Then it might not seem nearly so short-sighted.
I'm going with patience on this one, I'm sure it will all sort out nicely for everyone.
...this may be naivete on my part, but to paraphrase The Hunt for Red October 'OPF doesn't do anything without a Plan'

That was a fever dream, TOZ! The last time Aasimars were offered was Fall 2015. Tieflings from November 2015-Jan 2016. I know those dates because I missed Tieflings when they came around — no Minnesota cons around that time.
Hmm
PS You have no idea how tempting it would be to make an avatar named “TOZ’s Fever Dream” right now but I made my will save!

Aaron, I said as much in the reply I sent to your PM, but if you want or expect any meaningful to happen, you need to come from a position of respect. If you had raised your concerns in a manner that didn't resort to insulting people, I would have more sympathy with your position. But, instead you are calling people idiots and boneheads, which is not going to do you any favors.

Well, I for one hope that they do reopen the Aasamir and Tiefling boons, and not just so I can combine them for something else. I wasn't yet involved in PFS when they came out last time and I have some great character ideas for those to races! Maybe they will be back in rotation this year, that would be cool! At least to me.

Nope, it's a boneheaded move by OPF leadership to require old, rare boons to be used in this manner.
I'm intrigued, Aaron. You posited an either/or statement and then within 24 hours made an assumption that the worse option was true.
I admit that my boneheaded policy is to have a spreadsheet that tracks when each race boon goes into circulation so that I can better assess when it's time for a previous reward to go back into circulation. It's also great for determining what race(s) to include as the special unlock condition for PC races that we're introducing into the campaign in a limited fashion—certainly less limited than the Gen Con charity auction boons yet more restricted than, say, ratfolk or skinwalkers over the past year. There have definitely been some bumps in the race boon coordination history, but I try to avoid earning accusations of idiocy by releasing something that's only accessible to those with relatively old boons.
In this case, there's an upcoming opportunity with far-reaching accessibility for participants to secure an aasimar or tiefling boon. Those who have such a boon now sure can get a jump-start on playing a gillman, and those who don't mind waiting a couple months should have the opportunity then.

Does...does it involve a recent trip to a LG aligned plane?
All I will say is that it will be very explicitly clear to participants how to earn said boon. It is not hidden behind an "A or B" choice within a scenario. I don't mind having some rewards locked by character choices, but something so central and valued as a race boon is unlikely to be one of them.

But a banned archetype is? Good to know #priorities

^ To be fair, there are a few other banned archetypes that require a chronicle boon to get, TOZ. Many of those are reliant upon character choices and actions. An example of this can be found in the adventure that I GMed for you after GenCon, though I don’t think most other players would care about that particular bard archetype as much as I did! I built one of the Blues Brothers with it!

Still, I too would prefer it if we could all communicate our frustrations with less grar. Civil discourse is a far more effective means for getting the changes you wish to see than sniping. We have a very responsive and thoughtful campaign leadership. When they take the time to answer our questions, or show their thought processes in balancing boon distributions, I’d like it if they met with similarly thoughtful responses.
When we grump at them, we make it less likely that they’ll want to interact with us on these forums. I don’t think that’s an outcome any of us wants.

Aside to John: thanks for bringing back aasimars and tieflings. I am excited at seeing them come back again, however you bring them back.

Would someone repost that spreadsheet with all the boon text?
A little while ago, I could have sworn I read something that said you could use your elemental ancestry Boons to grant access to race specific options. Did I make this up or is this real? If so, link please!

You may be thinking of the Suli boon that came out as a quarterly boon, which also allowed you to attach the previously released and now freely playable plane-touched race boons for additional benefits.

Anyone able to explain the Taldan Courtier boon, and how it is acquired? Old boon, current boon?
I have a character that is very connected to Taldor and I am interested in what this particular boon entails.
Taldor's Princess Eutropis has support the Sovereign Court behind the scenes, and you have supported her rise to power. You are experienced at maneuvering at noble gatherings and assessing rumors. You gain a +1 bonus on Diplomacy checks to gather information during high-society social evets. If you have at least 20 Fame, you may spend 1PP to become one of Eutropia's trusted courtiers, gaining a minor noble title in her court should she ascend Taldor's throne. Knowledge (nobility) becomes a class skill for you. If Knowledge (nobility) is already one of your class skills (or later becomes one), you gain a +1 competence bonus on all Knowledge (nobility) checks. If you already had a noble title in Taldor or later gain one, she promises to increase your rank and help shield you from the risks of opposing Prince Stavian. In this case, you may use Knowledge (nobility) to make Day Job rolls, representing the proceeds of your estate.
It is Player Boon #7 from Season 9 (2017-18). You get it by participating in conventions and rolling for player boons.
Hope this helps,
Hmm

PS Now that I looked it up, I am also interested in both Player Boon #7 (Taldan Courtier) and Player Boon #13 (Blakros Agent) for Baroness Bobbi (my Blakros bastard, outcast from the Clan.) I can probably come up with trade bait in the form of race boons from my boon folder.
PPS I’m also interested in #14 Expedition Manager, but that one is less critical! It would be a nice one, but it’s not character-defining the way the others are.

Thanks for pointing out the controversy about trading gift certificates for boons. In the con where I got the gift cert, they were handed out just like boons: roll a die: win a boon, roll a die: win a gift cert, and since the distribution was identical and some people traded them immediately after rolling ("Oh, I got a cert, but have the books, you got breath of life, wanna trade?") I assumed it would be alright.
In case anyone is interested, trade was completed without the gift cert changing hands.
