Nice! I like Ravenloft back in the day too... yet another realm I never got to play in. So annoying.
Never got Darksun.
Never got Kara-Tur (nor will ever get Xian games)
Never got Ravenloft.
I end up GMing mostly... and have always run my own material...
I might try an AP late next year when my current campaign concludes.

To be honest I haven't seen much of the heroclix stuff since the very early days. A quick squiz on the web shows some promising sculpts though.
Must say that the latest Goblin preview has sold me on the Paizo flavored minis though. Freshly minted case subscription and sets of crossed fingers that malaysian customs don't screw me around too much on them.
Mark Sweetman |
The problem in Malaysia is that you never know what you are going to get. Customs is pretty lax most of the time - but the written laws are incredibly harsh. So ninety nine times out of a hundred things wouldn't get stopped. But then you get one guy who has had a bad day and could potentially hold things up for weeks and weeks.
Not much to do but cross fingers unfortunately.

@ All:
Ok groups: Tasks until tomorrow :)
HOD: Please regroup and plan your next action.
HORI: Everyone who wants to climb down please do your climb checks
HOL: I guess you go on investigating the tomb.
HOR: Maybe some discussing about Harry's future fate and then to the sheriff?
HOM: We still need some corn field rolls.
HOP: Will someone tell Malik about what you know? Otherwise time to get ready for departure?
OK, I'm out for today :)

Afternoon all.
On the subject of Heroclix, I think my little brother had a few of the originals but he was more into Heroscape. My ex and I really enjoyed Heroscape as well. We spent hundreds of dollars on different sets, but I left them all with him when I moved out. Not only did we enjoy the game, but we also used the hexagonal, stackable terrain pieces and the miniatures to build scenarios while role playing. I personally think that a lot of the miniatures weren't that greatly painted to say the very least, but they were good enough for me. We never had any other table top maps. Occasionally he would draw a map out on a sheet of paper if I was having trouble understanding what he was describing but that's about it.

I just wish I could still find more Heroscape sets for cheap. And they can make amazing 3D encounters for tabletop games too. Built a lightning house seige on a cliff-face with Heroscape. Those kobolds were tricksy.

I blame Mr Voodoo - but I've succumbed to my nagging need to put some more characters through a meatgrinder.
Anyone interested in looking at another game, please review over here.

Man, anyone looking for a great gaming experience then I strongly suggest applying for any of Mark Sweetman's AKA DM Voice of the Voiceless games. Hands down great RP experience.

I'm also going to hopefully apply with a character. I still have to brainstorm and establish a concept, and that probably won't happen today because I'll be working on my thesis all day... but before long, I hope, I'll introduce the character in the recruitment thread!

Aw, you beat me to it! ; ) I'm still working on how I want to start it all out, but I think our Zolurkets will receive somewhat different treatments. I'll be very interested to see what your fevered brain does with it. Looks like you've got some good prospects maybe I'll offer to take the leavings... i like to let them rot a week or so.

Thanks for the kind words Stiehl9s :) and apologies to Zyren for the minor threadjack :P
TarkXT - I'll keep you in mind for the future. As with the way of all things there will likely be attrition at some point, and for replacements I'd probably take someone from here direct rather than re-open recruitment.
Voodoo - twas to be expected, but I think there will be a surfeit of divine options. I'll be interested to see how this one works as well. It just seemed like a good fit to use the expedition rules and then transit into a Kingmaker style once they've uncovered enough of the mines. Hopefully will generate a greater degree of storyline investment.

How is this Kingmaker related to the Kingmaker AP? I am in a Kingmaker game right now and will not apply if it is going to overlap/spoil the game. If it is just a structure, then I assume there will not be a problem.

Do you want me to just post it on here, or do you have an email address I should send it to? And, yes, for my sake please do answer in English. I know some French and even less Spanish but not a lick of German outside of maybe 3 words :) Either way, I'll have to get it to you after I've slept and had a chance to go over it again to make sure there isn't anything that needs explaining. Thanks love, it's appreciated!

None of that sentence made sense to me. I recognize most of the words, but in that arrangement, they have left me stumped. ;-)What is a KM ninja turtle?
Why is China beating them?
Why is there a Day for it?
Why is there a week celebration for the Day?
KM(t) is a bad word over here in the PRC.

Do any of you know of a way to delete or otherwise remove a message board alias?
Click on 'My Account' up top, then look for the section that says 'messageboard aliases', there should be a list of all of your aliases and 'change' or 'delete' as options next to each alias (unless you have an aliases marked as your default, in which case you would need to make another one your default before that one can be deleted). Just click 'delete'.

Find and international student or other person who regularly uses more than one language. Interview him or her with regard to code-switching behavior. In which situations does he/she use language "A," in which language "B."
1. Does he/she think in one or both of the languages?
2. Are they ever intermixed?
3. What gestures, body language, personality changes, etc., accompany switches in language?
(Some questions of my own that I think would have been useful here:)
4. When reading or listening to someone speaking your non-primary language, do you find that you translate what is being said into your primary language?
5. As above, do you find that you formulate your response in your primary language and then translate them into the non-primary language in order to respond?
Feel free to add anything else that you think will be useful. Thanks again!

Ultra curses!
Hmmm - is this a new feat.
Curses
--> Improved Curses - Like curses but with more 4 letter words.
--> Greater Curses - Like Improved curses, but includes excessive blasphemy and religious insults.
--> Ultra Curses - Same as greater curses, but allows for racial slurs, crude hand gestures and professional use of curses from foreign languages.

It's been a well earned feat tree of scathing wit and quips.

1. Does he/she think in one or both of the languages?
In English speaking environments, I tend to think in English, in German or any other environment I think in my native tongue. So yes, generally I do think in both languages and the context decides which one it is.
2. Are they ever intermixed?
Yes, very often. Especially in the thinking progress, but often I do lack a word in German or Englich and then I have only the equivalent in the other language at hand.
3. What gestures, body language, personality changes, etc., accompany switches in language?
I think there is only a slight change in voice colour, not in the other fatcors mentioned.
(Some questions of my own that I think would have been useful here:)
4. When reading or listening to someone speaking your non-primary language, do you find that you translate what is being said into your primary language?
No, only if I don't know a word and have to look it up.
5. As above, do you find that you formulate your response in your primary language and then translate them into the non-primary language in order to respond?
No, both habits are rather to be found among speakers who are still on a rather basic level I guess.
Feel free to add anything else that you think will be useful. Thanks again!
Sorry nothing to add - very early in the morning :) If you have more auestions, just go ahead.
Mornin' everyone!

The old one is quite expensive, but the new one is has the 4th edition flaws...but looks very good - artwork-wise.
Guess it's a question of if you really want to play it, then I would suggest the new one, since your other players also need to buy the materials.

Apologies for this threadjack folks - following up on something Drayen kindly suggested to me...
Hi There Zyren
I’ve been lucky to play alongside Drayen in a couple of games here, and am currently running my first pbp that he was also a big part of. As your aware he’s unfortunately had to take a back seat, but did offer up your name as an excellent potential replacement, so I’d thought it wise to sound you out on being part of our Iobarian Saga...
You’ll find the campaign link and info under my profile. It’s fundamentally a labour of love – a Pathfinder conversion of the old TSR modules The Sentinel and The Gauntlet. You'll see some familar faces amongst the worthy!
Games currently a slow burner, pretty roleplay heavy and just establishing the atmosphere etc, but it'll liven up plenty soon enough :)
Drayen was due to play the party “face” – a savage skald, but should you be interested I’m open to characters and concepts.
Let us know what you reckon on the OOC thread and again apologies for the threadjack!

Wow. I had to look up the Wiki to see what the last edition of GammaWorld I played was- Third Ed. The one with the color-coded Action Tables. That was a good one. the '80's are calling ; )
Dunno about the recent versions although I've heard better things about the most recent version tho still too expensive for this poor boy.

Hehehe - I have the original Gamma World boxed set. Think I played it once. Looked like a cool game, just never got anyone who wanted to play it and then it went into a box for 30 years.
GAMMA WORLD!! THAT'S the name of the game I was trying to tell folks about a few weeks back. Isn't that when you avhe to make some sort of check in order to turn a computer on???
