It was a little blitz anyway. More like a microblitz.

That's because I wasn't there.

He's very happy with the aquatic update, it's like having a whole new video game.

My Youngest said almost the exact same thing, but doesn’t play Minecraft. XD

Today, ALL (DE) and I went to Levenshulme market, which was very hipster.

Then we went to Longsight market, which was not at all hipster. I found some NIGERIAN GUINNESS whoopee.

Then we went back to her house. We watched 'Sinbad of the Seven Seas' with Lou Ferrigno, which was a terrible terrible terrible film and is one of my new favourites, almost on a par with Turkish Star Wars, followed by 'Black Panther', which was actually good. I especially liked the shaven headed Amazon spear ladies.

Does the ALL (DE) shaves her head?

So. I have to lose weight or take blood pressure meds.

So that sucks.

But I've done this before.

Slow day. Hmm i'm not sure how to start it when John doesn't end it.

What about men who dress like ladies? Can we fight like them? Or do they fight too dirty?

I personally have a sliding scale of dirty fighting. if your bigger then me I might have a bat if your a lot bigger then me I might hit you with a car first. Honestly though if you still win after that you deserve it.

*dares you to hit it with a car*

Would.. would it just absorb the car? like its mostly metallic I feel like that would give it some trouble digesting.

So at game yesterday, we intercepted a message that was being transmitted via signal mirror. Since we didn't know exactly who was sending it, we debated how to respond. I suggested "New phone. Who dis?" which was good for some laughs, but was rejected. Of course the response we did give apparently tipped them off that we weren't the ones the were expecting to contact, so maybe we should have used it.

I think it's just feeling feisty. I'm pretty sure it ate a couple of habenero plants earlier, so it's likely all fired up.

Feisty cubes are scary. I imagine they still splatter really well however.

Just hope none of it gets in your mouth.

Yuck yeah definitely need the windows rolled up. then probably need to head right for the car wash that cube acid could definitely ruin a pain job.

What if we gave the cube regeneration? Then you'd really be f@!#ed. It's like giving a troll 30 points each of fire and acid resistance. Good luck killing that.

Half-dragon trolls are only a CR 7, and depending on the color of the dragon can be immune to fire or acid. Nasty surprise for a party, especially if you pair it with a spell caster who puts Resist Energy on it for the other energy type (fire or acid).

We played Arkham Horror 3rd Edition last weekend and my brother picked an investigator with a car. He was able to ram monsters with it when entering their space. Pretty hilarious.

The Exchange

How about a half black dragon troll who's a flame oracle that takes the molten skin revelation, and thus is resistant to fire?

I played one edition of those games. there pretty challenging.

Yeah I've used the half-dragon trolls before. Red usually because fire is more common. although honestly the most effective troll I've ever used was just one covered head to toe with armor. They didn't know it was a troll so they fell for him getting up 3 times. One time one of the players was even carrying him because they wanted his armor. So surprise attack with a rend. It was nasty.

The Exchange

How about a half red dragon moss troll with deathless-initiate line?

Of course with racial heritage so as to allow him to qualify.

I think the best combo of race class and template I had found was a unicorn half-celestial pegasi. This was for 3.0 You ended up with what I remember has a 28 charisma 3 different smites spell resistance based on your charisma you got wings from half-celestial and a ridiculous fly speed the +3 lance horn and ofcourse your divine grace saves made all your saves untouchable. Oh and I think you got 3 different effects that boosted your AC vrs evil.

That was all at 1st level paladin I think with the template and racial adjustments it started out at 7th level. If something was evil you killed it.

The Exchange

Heh I'm not familiar with 3.0 so I'll take your word for it. Besides all those cheeses and custom building seem so far away now.

I thought divine grace was Paladin 2, or was that a PF change?

In PnP I think it's at 1. I think in NWN we delayed it to dissuade one-level dipping before we revised the paladin multiclassing rules.

I sold all my third edition books to buy Pathfinder.

I regret nothing!

Except maybe selling Stormwrack.

So, since I Googled and found this on public sites, I think I'm free to tirade:

Random Anti-Corporate Tirade:
So, GothBard survived the first round of layoffs at her company, so she's still employed for now.

Unfortunately, the ham-handed manner in which it was handled speaks very poorly for the company's future success.

The "Correct" Way to Conduct Layoffs: "Dear Employees. As you know, we are hoping to have an IPO next year. Unfortunately, this means that we need to cater to our potential investors, which means that we have to cut some of our underperforming games and their associated staff. We'll make the announcements after the quarterly results are in, and the severance package for those who get cut will be xxx."

Both Shiro and I have survived many such announcements, and they make you feel a bit better about management: Even though they're making cutthroat corporate decisions to line their pockets, they're at least keeping you informed as to the process, and giving you a month or two to find other work even before the layoffs happen. It's also better for the company, because if enough people jump ship they don't need to do the layoffs at all, and they don't get the associated negative press. And potential investors see, "In preparation for a potential IPO, Company XX laid off nnn workers and several of its lowest-performing games.

Everyone's informed, everyone knows what's going on, and while layoffs are never pleasant, it all goes relatively smoothly and peacefully.

The "How Stupid Can You Be" Approach: "Attention All Employees. There is a mandatory meeting in 20 minutes. Report to your assigned room immediately. OK. Those in room x are laid off. Those in room y are safe. Security will now escort everyone from room x off the premises. If they attempt to return to the office for any reason they will be charged with trespassing. Do not speak to them, and no one is to speak about this publicly."

So... good job. Now you've alienated both the employees you laid off and the ones you kept with your ham-handed, imperious manner. And a LOT of your best talent is going to pick up and leave anyway, figuring that if they can't rely on day-to-day job security at your company, they'll choose to move elsewhere, rather than waiting for the axe to fall. You have no hold on the laid-off employees, so not only are they going to blab, but they're going to do so in as negative a manner as possible, because you just blindsided them and screwed them over for the holiday season. Investors are going to hear, "This company is planning on doing an IPO next year, but just had to conduct a secret round of layoffs and cut some games."
I would lose all interest in investing in a company like that, pronto! If they're conducting secret layoffs before the IPO, what kinds of shenanigans are they going to try to pull once they're public?

What impresses me is that Shiro's been in the industry for decades, and has been through many, many more rounds of layoffs than I have (I've only been through 4). And he says that he only experienced something like what Gothbard did once, and it was one of the two most poorly-handled layoffs he'd ever seen. And yeah, the company never recovered from treating employees so callously.

The tech industry has employees who are highly-skilled and in high demand. Treating them like criminals is just not bright.

Wtf. Just... Wtf.
