Can you recommend a dandelion killer? I don't mind dandelions in general, I actually think a few of them scattered through the yard looks nice, but two spots in my yard are being taken over by them and I'd like to at least thin them out a bit. Thanks.

I've got a sort of elongated blowtorch whotsit that does a good job on 'em. It was around £10 from the local hardware shop.

EDIT: Two and a half feet long with a bright red end, how about that?

Two and a half very small feet, admittedly.

Time to bed. Busy week.

And by busy I mean getting up early every damn day, including weekend. On Thursday I am going to Pyrkon. And I'll get paid for that...

During "500 Miles", I was so bored I started doing my best air drum solo at the table with a couple of coffee spoons until I caught the bride's deaf daughter staring at me like I was utterly deranged, so I stopped. It's a good song, but you can't dance to it.
Surely you just march around on the dance floor, singing along at the top of your lungs.

That's it. You just strut about, pumping your arms rhythmically, pretending you're Bonnie Prince Billy invading Lancashire.

Alcohol is brown, black or yellow. If it looks like antifreeze or laundry detergent, it deserves to be treated as such.

Today I went to ALL (DE)'s daughter's 7th birthday party. I played guitar for 'pass the parcel' and accompanied ALL (DE)'s singing, which is something I love to do. I also met her Mum. It was pretty good, overall.

nonsense. Absinthe is quite clear where it isnt greenish, I think.

ABSINTHE!

I would probably do the same, but with my knees there's no guarantee that I'd be able to get back up.

That would also burn the grass, which I would prefer to leave.

Crazy things happening with the General's family, the D word getting thrown around and all.

I'd feel bad, if they weren't all such terrible people.

The important thing is, they waited until two weeks before their last three kids' graduation to announce it.

Because that won't make it awkward for everyone else.

Of course, that means we don't have to go.

I dunno, divorce and a large party with ridiculous amounts of alcohol, what can go wrong!

Waited a half an hour for the bus today. Which is moving like molasses. Ugh.

True - I forgot about those. Red ale is a thing, too, though it's pretty brown-y. Russet, I suppose.

Wow... yeah.

The timing just screams, "Pay attention to us!"
And the notion that after making that decision they'll turn around and say, "Oh, but to avoid any possibility of making a scene, I'll choose not to imbibe," is... er... "low"...

They're all biker mechanics and wannabe fringers, there will be no such promises.

This is the family that parked a beer trailer next to the wedding ceremony.

Not the reception, the ceremony. The reception had a separate beer trailer and two full bars, in a barn of course.

Ugh... decisions, decisions...

I was sick all weekend with a relatively-decent fever and a lot of lethargy. I'm not much better today, but we're at the very beginning of a fairly high-urgency project, so any down time I take now I'd have to make up later.

So: Rest, recover, and work hard tomorrow, or show up today, be all woozy, and end up getting very little done anyway?
*SIGH*. I have to think about it some more. Which is a good sign my brain isn't working all that well, which is a good sign a day off is the way to go. Ah, well, I've got half an hour to decide...

EDIT: Yeah, it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to compose this post. I'm not going to be doing anyone ANY good at work today. Kids to school, then back to bed I go.
Have a good day, all!
(And it's not a BAD cold; just the typical, "You have a headache and you're sleepy" kind that's like a hangover, but minus the fun the night before. So bed rest and fluids ought to do it in pretty quickly.)

I get to compact some gravel today, and probably dig some more holes.

I stayed home from work too. Queasiness. Headache.

Could've been worse. Could've chosen to announce it at the graduation party. With everyone already present and no graceful escape...

The good news is I didn't get the plate packer stuck in the gravel.

The down side is, it's too wet to plate pack the gravel.

And I get to tear up irrigation lines guilt free!

Heh. Considering *my* weekend, that's a loaded question.

Suffice to say, though, that I've just landed in Memphis after a weekend visit with TerrigansGal in Las Vegas. It was splendidly relaxed -- hung around the house, played Super Mario World and Zelda: LttP, I cooked dinner for her last night, . . . . A fine time, all told. :)
